Review:I started reading this book and thought, "What????" I had just finished reading Born of Defiance where it told the story of Talyn Batur. Which I absolutely loved, another fantastic book in the series, and I was trying to work out in my head how Talyn figured in with Fain..........boy when I found out it was like, " Wow, didn't see that one coming."
The trials and action and heartache that is brought in to Fain's story actually had tears in my eyes during certain areas in the book and no... Read more
Review:The characters are well defined and the storyline flows nicely. The action is entertaining and plausible. The setting of future technology is nicely balanced with just enough advances but no magic carpets Read more
Review:The Longest Winter tells the story of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance (I&R) Platoon, 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. During the battle of the Bulge they held off the German offensive for a crucial (roughly) 24 hours. The story covers the US-based training, deployment, battle lead-up, battle, POW internment, liberation, and reunion. There is some personality interplay, as well. Has pictures and maps.
The history covered is a fascinating story, but this is only a me... Read more
Review:I'll always opt for fiction over nonfiction, but this book held my interest because of an original perspective , the French. I'd never heard of the Milice before and they were a scary group, maybe worse than the SS because they knew everyone in the smaller villages.

S. Grant) military figure in American history, Douglas MacArthur.

Review:It showed how far we have gone away from contact with the enemy to win the war like in WW2. To many lawyers making up rules of engagement and prosecuting for violation that would have got a medal instead of court marshalled. Read more
Review:The story of the Navy's achievements, both technical and operational, deserved better. Although I found some of the content highly interesting, both the information and the enjoyment were diminished by a number of shortcomings.
The stories of some of the actual intelligence operations and missions are incredibly interesting. They deserved better. Perhaps part of the problem is that the writers came from the NYT where they typically write stories about subjects where they have greater fami... Read more
