Review:I've read Mlodinow's "Subliminal" first. That is a later effort and actually a lot more accessible than this volume here. Nevertheless, I think it is safe for me to say that both volumes will have literally changed my life.
Rich with entertaining anecdotes from the history of our knowledge of probability and science; written with wit and love. I can't recommend this book enough.
Thank you Mr. Mlodinow! Read more
Review:The author was able to convey a difficult subject into laymen's terms. Every body must know what is in the book about the network, because, we are all members of it. It is a politically neutral book. The author does not express any of his own views when he examines social issues. It is rather a math book than a self-help book. The discussed topics are the latest development in the field of mathematics, but you do not have to be a Mathematician to read or understand it. You can even use the knowl... Read more
Review:This is a book written in a journalistic style. Some of the historical information, for example related to Bachelier and his work conflicts with the information I have. Frankly, I am not sure which is right, but that is not so important.
My problem with the book is that it may be confusing to many who are not versed in the subject of economics and math. The author spends half of the book writing about the limitations of math, and the other half about how great has math been for economics.... Read more

Review:Fantastic! The author, not being a scientist, is able to put this very complex information in understandable, practical terms. It is one of the best books I have read on this subject, and it is a subject that fascinates me. I highly recommend it. Read more
Review:I found Rosenblum and Kuttner to be sincere in their intentions, honest in their presentation, reasonable in their interpretations, and commendable for their obvious efforts to present this challenging subject to a general audience. In short, I like the authors and what they tried to do. As a result, I'm saddened to report that I finished this book feeling disappointed. The problem is that this book is unbalanced and incomplete. More specifically:
1. Simpler topics are sometimes overe... Read more
Review:This book I written to acompany students taking junior level physics at a university, for that purpose the book excels at what it does, however its very dense, with math and not a lot of theory, if you want to learn about quantum mechanics on your own accord just for self enrichment purposes there are much better options. Review:The title is bit of an overstatement, you'll have to acquire a few other things. But the internet is such a great resource now with this as a starting point you really can salvage a lot of otherwise throwaway/too expensive to fix stuff. Many of these fixes are simple to do. Read more
