The House On Hope Street
The House On Hope Street

Review:I just finished reading the first 60 pages and its so annoying. She must repeat at least 10 times that she has been seeing Phil for 4 years. I feel like there are lots of fillers here, she repeats everything we know so many times she could have written 60 pages in 20. I do agree that she was once a fantastic writer, but not anymore. I doubt I'll ever read another of her books, don't know if I'll even finish this one. So far its a really boring read. Read more

Split Infinity (Apprentice Adept Book 1)
Split Infinity (Apprentice Adept Book 1)

Review:This idea that Piers Anthony gives is great. Two worlds - one magic and one technological - is brilliant. The moment a friend told me about it, I went out and grabbed it. The book was also well written. I just couldn't stand the multiple-page long monologues Stile gives frequently. It seemed that every chapter Stile was giving some speech or another about morality or about how great he was at one thing or another. That's another thing that's not so great. I like having a hero who is r... Read more

WINNER OF THE WOMEN'S PRIZE FOR FICTION 2018 - Home Fire
WINNER OF THE WOMEN'S PRIZE FOR FICTION 2018 - Home Fire

Review:The book is divided into sections of different character’s narration, but instead of echoing each other and filling narrative gaps, it did the opposite. I enjoyed reading the first part of the story but couldn’t quite follow the Aneeka stories, the twin brother plot as well as the love story. The author based the story on Antigone but seemed to me too stretched out for that purpose. Also I don’t know how to take the ending. Overall I am quite disappointed. The book seemed to me more like an ove... Read more

Succubus Blues: 1 (Georgina Kincaid)
Succubus Blues: 1 (Georgina Kincaid)

Review:After the finale of Vampire Academy I went in search of a new series. I wasn't keen on reading more Richelle Mead, thinking I should seek out new authors and expand my horizons. Embarking on new series I have since found several authors I love from fantasy to crime, however I thought to myself "Why not try another of Mead's series?" I am so glad I did.

This book is about Georgina, a succubus, who although a demon, has a conscious. She wishes to be normal (don't we all!) but instead has to... Read more

Succubus Nights: Urban Fantasy: 2
Succubus Nights: Urban Fantasy: 2

Review:good writer, good premise. It isn't my preference, is all.

If you like Romance then this is the book for you.

If you prefer Vampire Academy by Ms Mead, this is not it. This runs more to the wall to wall sex.

I prefer Urban Fantasy that runs more to action and less bedroom. Read more

Review:My favorite so far in the series. once again I'm enthralled by Georgina's story. i feel like shes a real person. Mead does a great job with character development. i go along on the ride and feel all of Georgina's emotions. its a great read that offers incredibly funny dialogue and at the same time a lot of emotion. READ IT!!! Read more

Grave Dance (Alex Craft Book 2)
Grave Dance (Alex Craft Book 2)

Review:This is one of the best Follow-ups I've read in awhile. The first one was good, but not very memorable IMO. The 2nd may be one of Price's best books to date.

The book has a lot going on, but it still flowed smoothly and everything seemed to tie-up well by the end. About a month has passed since the events in the last book. The book starts off similar to the last, with Alex raising the dead & working with the PD to unravel a paranormal murder mystery. With her love life in turmoil, Ale... Read more

Titus Groan (Gormenghast Trilogy)
Titus Groan (Gormenghast Trilogy)

Review:There is not one author who can write like Mervyn Peake. This man had such a command of the english language that when he writes, he creates vivid images and pictures in your mind that no other author can do.
People told me Anne Rice and Tolkien would compete, but by far and away Mervyn Peake is just a master at story telling and imagery. Titus Groan is just one heck of a read - it's thoroughly enjoyable and definately worth the time to read.
When reading, read slow and take it all in. It'... Read more

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More

Review:I've read the book "The wonderful story of Henry Sugar and six more". It's a book containing seven short stories. The longest one is the story about a wonderful person called Henry Sugar, an egoist who whants to change his life and become more like Robin Hood. But in my opinion, the best one is, "The Swan", a great story about a kid who whants to survie from two big persons of the same age. You just can't stop reading it. The whole book was ok, but some stories were very boring, others were supr... Read more
