Diets & Weight Loss
Review:Good, simple and clear advice!
Backs up the advice, I got from a couple of mds over 2 decades ago to take a Baby Aspirin a day.
I am following some other advice in his book and will post the results mid fall of this year. Read more
Review:I've received Tom Venuto's emails for several months and ordered the book after a personal epiphany. Venuto's rules are SIMPLE, as he states, but not EASY. This is not a diet and recipe book (his e-book Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle covers that territory) but a complete guide to total dietary/nutritional and exercise lifestyle changes. I have no doubt that complete implementation of the actions outlined by the book will result in the fantabulous, well-documented results of his clients. There... Read more
Review:Very nicely done book. It provides a knowledgeable but primarily supportive voice to implant in your head to help you through the considerable hurdles involved in modifying long-held attitudes. Much of the information provided is confirmation, not revelation. But the tone of the book and the pragmatic guidance is firm but gentle. It's helping a lot. Read more
Review:I purchased this book after viewing the author on TV. I expected a 30 day weight loss program that had practical , simple steps. I did some research but not enough because I did not know that the author is a vegan. The diet stresses meat free items to the absurd. For example, multivitamins are OK to take but be careful because some use animal products in the tablet coating. Also, many if not most of the author's dietary benefit claims are unsubstantiated. No references, footnotes or bibliography... Read more
Review:I ordered this book diet for a small planet spiral bound, though what I received was one in paper back not spiral bound.
I have the paper back one already . They didn't have what I ordered, what I wanted in stock.
It was a problem to return and complicated to deal with in the end I gave up and kept the book. Burr
In short I ordered this book and did not get what was advertised what I wanted. Read more
Review:I like the tips inside of this book, however, the pages to record things on are small, hard to write in it for me. I use Calorie King's calorie counting book almost daily. A personal journal works just as well for me. Read more
Review:Great book! Can't wait to try the Skillet Chicken Parmesan....my ole time favorite. Now I don't have to go to Olive Gardens to get my favorite dish with all the calories, sodium etc. This book is a blessing for anyone with a health issue. Thank You for writing such a wonderful cookbook. Easy instructions to follow, beautiful photos, and most ingredients can be found in anyone's kitchen. Thank You again and God Bless. Also, I would like to 'Thank" the distributor for such fast service and ... Read more
Review:Pocket Books should be ashamed of publishing such a badly-written horribly edited book. Really too bad because I think the theories deserve some real thought and documented research. One hundred pages of references doesn't mean a thing if you can't line up a fact with a reference (who did the research that says we only get one billion heart beats?). A 30-page glossary seems nice, but the 2 words I tried to find weren't in there, and I'm sure some that are there aren't in the book. One of the fin... Read more
Review:Kindle version: The charts are not formatted so that they can be viewed. Even using the largest typeface option, the charts are so tiny as to be useless. As another reviewer noted, the book may have some useful diet suggestions, but it is presented as an exercise in "rambling irrelevance".
I was looking for helpful information that would assist making positive changes in my diet. The author goes on and on about something none of us could have any working knowledge about: early mankind's ... Read more
Review:Never thought healthy food could taste this good. This book is for those who have trouble staying trim. Great information from Dr. John McDougall and great recipes from Mary McDougall. Try the vegetable chilli, (tip I rinse canned beans to make it easier). Other favorites are "Fried" Rice and the oriental salad. This book is well worth getting and sharing. Read more
