Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set
Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set

Review:I was genuinely pleased with the quality of this set when it arrived. I've been trying to get back into TRPGs for years, and I think 5e will be the version that makes that possible. For the price, you get a sturdy box with fantastic art and room to store additional supplements (or a printed copy of the free pdf from the WOTC website), some very nice dice, a basic ruleset to introduce you to roleplaying, a lengthy and well organized adventure, and some pre-generated characters.

My 60 Memorable Games
My 60 Memorable Games

Review:Robert James Fischer is probably the greatest player of all time, his only rival being Kasparov (or perhaps Capablanca or Alekhine depending upon one's criteria). It is, therefore, only reasonable that a selection of his best games should rank as one of the greatest chess books. However, this work is more than a mere game collection: In it we have a chance to see a true genuis (IQ 187) at work. I am, hence, willing to say that it is the greatest chess book. The annotations are simply flawles... Read more

Winning Big with Expert Play - Small Stakes Hold 'em
Winning Big with Expert Play - Small Stakes Hold 'em

Review:I have been playing low-limit holdem for about four years and have been a small winner during that time. I read this book four days ago, and it has explained concepts to me that I haven't seen in print anywhere else (among my twenty other books on poker). I now have a much clearer understanding of the mistakes that low-limit players make. I am now in the process of correcting my own mistakes and exploiting the mistakes of my opponents.

The sections on postflop play are priceless, with dif... Read more

Review:I have bought Onion publications for my sons-in-law and then been sad that I had given them away. So I am keeping the book of Known Knowledge. I figure that I can help my grandkids with their oral reports at school. I am running for Grandmother of the Year. This will surely put me in the finals. . Read more

Lower Your Brain Age in Minutes a Day - Brain Games® #1
Lower Your Brain Age in Minutes a Day - Brain Games® #1

Review:I purchased this book for my mother. She recently ran into some health issues and spends most of her time at home. She was a fan of crosswords and hidden word puzzles, so I purchased this for her to mix things up a bit and keep her mind off things. She's completed a good amount of the book already and seems to really be enjoying it. She admits it does help to keep her busy and stops her from worrying about things. I look forward to buying the second and third editions for her when she finishes t... Read more

Quidditch Through the Ages
Quidditch Through the Ages

Review:I loved the other short story ebooks published by J.K. Rowling, but Quidditch Through the Ages disappoints. It could be because it's supposed to be an actual book for wizards by 'Kennilworthy Whisp,' but it dragged on and on about history, teams, plays, etc. etc. I thought, "Okay, you can stop making stuff up now." I would recommend the others over this book: 'Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists,' 'Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide,' and 'Short Storie... Read more

Simon & Schuster Mega Crossword Puzzle Book #16 (S&S Mega Crossword Puzzles)
Simon & Schuster Mega Crossword Puzzle Book #16 (S&S Mega Crossword Puzzles)

Review:This edition is much better than the #13 volume I have. The puzzles are more contemporary at least, and so far (in a dozen or so) most have been quite clever and entertaining. It's also surprisingly better than the The New York Times Will Shortz Picks His Favorite Puzzles: 101 of the Top Crosswords from The New York Times volume I bought. Shortz's book selects puzzles based on how difficult the puzzle was t... Read more

Cat Butts: A Coloring Book
Cat Butts: A Coloring Book

Review:In theory this is a great book, because cat butts are a humorous thing. In reality the paper quality is sh*t! I love to color with sharpies and I ruined the first coloring attempt in this book as a result. With one page missing it doesn’t even make for good coffee table book/conversation piece book. I ended up trashing it. Read more
