Job Hunting & Careers
Review:This book is an interesting take on an old theme. Chris made self help relatable to a group who is mostly overlooked by other authors in the genre. His unique approach activates the "nerdist" tendencies of most geeks and makes them motivators for positive change. It jumpstarted me to make a new budget and work to get healthier. I recommend this to any geek/nerd looking for a new direction. Read more
Review:I thought the author outlined very eloquently the challenges for transitioning into a new leadership position. There were great examples to highlight the points being articulated. It is an easy fast read for busy people like myself. I appreciate that charts and forms were included. It would be helpful if those forms were available for printing or downloading. It would also be helpful if the examples were from education or government, as many readers may not be in corporations. Read more
Review:This book is a good work book for recently retired or nearly retired persons. It does help one put things in perspective and helps the reader realize that there are advantages to adapting yourself to a new lifestyle.
I think the book glosses over certain imperatives and perhaps may give the impression that it is easy to live well on very little.

Review:'The Millionaire Mind' has nicely satisfied my curiosity about the characteristics of the affluent people. Stanley has presented various findings of his research, which I find interesting. In some occasions, the research findings were presented in a way that inclined to the author's opinions & values, but that did not spoil the reading experience. Read more

Review:This has been an invaluable resource for me and for my husband during his job search. I can't believe how difficult the process has been this time around, and I was feeling incredibly discouraged. (Of course, he was, too.)
This book really helped us both start to feel hope again, and it also offered extremely practical and useful advice for getting through periods of unemployment, finding a career counselor, discovering personal skills and preferences, networking, interviewing, negotiatin... Read more
Review:While the web is full of content that teaches you how to write code and solve specific problems, there aren't many resources that demonstrate how to pragmatically "connect the dots" of building a successful career - and this book does just that. Whether you're new to the development arena or you've written your fair share of if/then/else statements, John's book meets you at any stage of your career and gives you not only the inspiration to reach farther and harder, but outlines the specific step...
