The Extraordinary True Story of One Man's Survival in Warsaw
The Extraordinary True Story of One Man's Survival in Warsaw

Review:I watched the movie then decided I really need to know more. This story is amazing! It is written in his own words. The fact that this man could write about all the terrible things done to him and not have a bitter attitude about it really speaks about the value of forgiveness. Forgiveness frees us to live and not be ruled by those who have hurt us. Also the journal entries of Wilm Hosenfeld are extremely interesting. Very worthwhile reading! Read more

Alicia: My Story
Alicia: My Story

Review:The story of Alicia Appleman Jurman as told in this book is one of the best written, fastest paced, most interesting survivor accounts from the Holocaust. It reads like a well written novel but is entirely a true story. It is also much more interesting than other accounts, such as Anne Frank's Diary, due to the broader scope of Alicia's life, she was not confined to a hiding place for most of the war but instead survived by staying on the move. A Woman Survivor's True Story of Auschwitz - Five Chimneys
A Woman Survivor's True Story of Auschwitz - Five Chimneys

Review:Having read over 42 books on the holocaust, unquestionably, "Auschwitz" is thus far "the" most vivid description of the hell the Nazis inflicted on innocent people, young, old, children, informed, and various ethnic representatives. The psychology of the unbelievable sadism, brutality and terror inflicted by the Nazis to other human beings is incomprehensible to me. This book is a factual telling by a very heroic survivor. I am still in disbelieve that anyone could survive what she did - and the... Read more

Clara's War: One Girl's Story of Survival
Clara's War: One Girl's Story of Survival

Review:I have read numerous books on survivors, the holocaust, and war but this one rises to the 'top'... from the beginning to the end, I felt one with Clara and her family. As her story unfolded and took them into hiding, so did the writing. I felt every minute of their life underground and their day to day life. The web of characters made it a page turner; and those that put everything on the line to save those unknown to them are 'heroes' ... I dare not say more because I'd like others to take Clar... The Untold Story of Nonna Bannister - The Secret Holocaust Diaries

Review:This book chronicles one person's tragic memories of life during Hitler's reign of terror. Nonna tells of the love of her family, and describes the horrors they endured unto death. Courage beyond the ordinary, and heroic survival despite the demonic evil released upon defenseless men, women and children are presented with the underlying hope of "never again." Read more

A History of the Jews of Europe During the Second World War
A History of the Jews of Europe During the Second World War

Review:Detailed, specific and full of examples. Almost too horrific to read all the way through, but a "must-read" to appreciate just how cruel man can be to his fellow man, and be sure we do not let it happen again. Moving. Read more

Resistance and Defiance against the Nazi War Machine in World War II
Resistance and Defiance against the Nazi War Machine in World War II

Review:This true story of a mother of seven fleeing from Germany's Satan with her husband and children is gripping. Interwoven with historical developments I found the storyline and writing style to be captivating. May these stories continue to be told honoring those who suffered so much for life and freedom. Life and Death in Hitler's Concentration Camp for Women
Life and Death in Hitler's Concentration Camp for Women

Review:I have read most books about the concentration and extermination camps built by the Nazi's. I have also read a lot about Stalin's Gulags. This book was different in so many ways from the others. The research Ms. Helm did astounded me from the very first paragraph. I cannot begin to imagine the amount of work she put into writing this amazing book. It was very difficult to read due to the pain of these women, and I can barely think about what it must have been like to interview survivors and... Read more
