This true story of a mother of seven fleeing from Germany's Satan with her husband and children is gripping. Interwoven with historical developments I found the storyline and writing style to be captivating. May these stories continue to be told honoring those who suffered so much for life and freedom.

I have always felt a certain connection with the Jewish people I have met. I found out in my heritage I do have Prussian Jewish bloodlines. I would give anything to find out who they are. I am so sorry this happened.

Excellent! Could feel pain and suffering this poor family went through. What courage they had to stay together it with all the adversity & service it.( My husband and I have been to Daucue concentration camp)

It amazes me what this family went through to avoid the Nazi's. Homelessness, starvation, and loss of family members. The love they shared is what made them determined to go on. Wonderful and heartwarming.

This book is well-enough produced, but the focus of the story seems to be completely on how the main character influences her family. While that is a good thing in some ways, it also seems that she not only approved of a lot of stealing and shady dealing, but also thought God approved of it in their circumstances. No one could deny that the circumstances were difficult, but the lessons children learn in such situations, are difficult to shake in adulthood. Both the mother and father in this story disapprove of their daughter's choice of a husband, and continually put him down. This, in spite of his ongoing efforts to help save the family. They would all have died without him, and the help he so readily gave them. I've listened to and read many other holocaust survivor's stories, but this one is the most self-serving of all.
