The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers (Facts on File Crime Library)
The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers (Facts on File Crime Library)

Review:Having purchased the original encyclopedia nearly 20 years ago, I found this newer version to be a perfect update. While some killers (Bundy, Dahmer and Fish) weren't updated due in part to their entries being done and over with, some others are still open and alive and have had their entries enhanced (Mason, Jack the Ripper and Wuronos to name a few) as well as a few new entries as well. Whether your interested in it for psychological reasons, crime reasons or want a nice coffee table book to s... Read more

The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe
The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe

Review:Professor Randall takes us on a journey from the outermost reaches of the universe to the unseen players of conventional and dark matter. It is a wonderfully layered work that peers into not only the elemental factors that make up our entire universe, but also the minds of the leading scientists covering a diversity of fields that helped to foster Professor Randall's work. Although we will continue to watch and see how the dark matter story plays out, this book certainly provides a very provoc... Read more

Cosmopolis: A Novel
Cosmopolis: A Novel

Review:Walter Benjamin has said that a critique of a work of art is about the truth of the work. A commentary is about the content of the work of art. Unfortunately almost all of these reviews of Cosmopolis are commentary reviews about its content. To fully understand-not necessarily enjoy-this book one needs to be familiar with the work of Jean Baudrillard. Read Cosmopolis through Baudrillard and it will become a shining star for you. It is brilliant, contemporary and now that Cronenberg is filming it... Read more

Down and Out in Paris and London
Down and Out in Paris and London

Review:Written based upon his real-life experience as a scullery worker in a Paris hotel and a tramp in London, George Orwell's recounting of the stories of the impecunious stands alone in its authenticity of the content and veritability of the experiences The substantiality of poverty was boredom and inconvenience, according to Orwell because poverty freed people from standard s of ordinary behaviors. Nevertheless, this book is not a book of socialist manifesto that urges the impecunious to revolt ag... Read more

The Collapse and Revival of American Community - Bowling Alone
The Collapse and Revival of American Community - Bowling Alone

Review:Coming with no background in Sociology, I picked this book because it was suggested to me. I found it very easily accessible, and a really thought provoking commentary on how society is changing under our feet. It intersperses 'data' on our changing views and habits with a very insightful commentary on how these pieces of the puzzle fit together and shape out lives. Best book I've read in ages. Read more

An Appreciation, Brief Edition- Standalone book

Review:This was in perfect condition! Extremely satisfied :) I was a little scared that I wouldn't get the correct edition I need for my class but it was the correct one. Seller was friendly in letting me know that I had indeed ordered the correct edition even though it was clearly stated in the description but I did not see it due to not reading all the info. Overall, I couldn't be happier and I'm sure I will do extremely well in my class now that I have the book. Read more

Books a la Carte Edition (4th Edition) - Fundamentals of Statistics
Books a la Carte Edition (4th Edition) - Fundamentals of Statistics

Review:The book is amazing, the people I bought from were not. When the used book arrived from Czars all the pages were coated in a dingy film. The book reeked of an odor I must assume was rat piss. Holding the book to read made me nauseous and ill. After teaching through chapter 1, I finally took it to a graphic arts place and had them photo copy all the pages so that I could throw it away. Foreword by Warren Buffett (Security Analysis Prior Editions)
Foreword by Warren Buffett (Security Analysis Prior Editions)

Review:As other reviewers have pointed out, this (sixth) edition of Security Analysis includes a reprint of the popular 1940 edition (Warren Buffett's favorite), minus some chapters. The deleted chapters, which can be found in the CD that accompanies the book, make room for (new) general introductory remarks to this edition and also to the eight major parts of the book, written by a variety of modern commentators. If all you really want is the 1940 edition, then the better choice for you is probably ... Read more

Review:If you are into long term growth stocks and perspectives then this is a book to read. However for a swing trader like myself there wasn't as much usable content. Still a worth while read and would recommend Read more
