Review:This book should be taught in colleges. All aspiring for presidential office should be publicly questioned on different US historical events, which so thoroughly discussed in the book. I guess that such quest would find who is qualified to be included to primary competition for presidential candidacy. Read more
Review:Started on Bernard Cornwell's novels because I ran out of Jack Aubrey, Horatio Hornblower, and Ricard Bolitho books to read. Sharpe is equal to these 3 heroic characters. I like Hornblower and Bolitho better as people, but Richard Sharpe is more complex and much more entertaining! Read more
Review:What happened with all the other children and what kind of mother just does not care? She raises her self up so high with this one child and calls herself a caring mother when in fact she is far from that. She is a selfish heartless character and lacks common sense to see that. Don't get me wrong I like the story just she made me so angry with the me me me instead of the US US US. Read more
Review:Actually this was pretty good..the only reason I gave it four stars was because I had to read it in fits and starts and really may not be doing it justice. The characters seemed to get a bit jumbled at the end as to what who was doing but really it's one of her better books.

Review:I'm not normally a historical romance type person but this series is amazing. The characters burst to life and there are all sorts of intricacies woven in that keep them dynamic - so you never feel bored. The fact it is a historical does not mean it is steeped in history - but it is awash in all sorts of themes from h... Read more
Review:Faulkner is great if somewhat challenging to read. He is a Modernist in the sense that he attempts to observe events/issues from multiple points of view and time-space. The protagonist Joe Christmas is an F1-bybrid mixed-blood fellow who is persecuted viciously by his grandfather, a pathetic, vicious racist who killed his own daughter for spawning 'the devil'. That is, Joe Christmas' father was Black and the grandfather Doc Hines allowed his daughter to die from medical neglect during the birth.... Read more
Review:Like french movies, this book was not about happy endings and a happy storyline. It was a sad, raw, human book. As much as I was disgusted by the actions of the some of the characters, I still enjoyed every minute of reading this book because the storyline is interesting and has a great flow. Read more
Review:A masterpiece.
Writers of sex could all benefit by reading the carriage scene where the reader is aware of what the couple in the carriage are doing and yet the reader never once gains a look inside.
Oh, I am not saying anything against the writing of open door sex scenes. I am just saying that Gustave Flaubert created more sensuality though only writing of what happens outside of the carriage. The reader sees the couple getting into the carriage, the driver and horses and the ext... Read more
