Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country
Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country

Review:I really enjoyed this book until the end when she criticized the US for not working to be diverse enough! I hate it when people who aren't US citizens try to impose their beliefs on this country. Why not fault Saudia Arabia for not being diverse enough? Why not any Latin American, Asian or African country? I'm also sure there are large areas of Great Britain and other European countries that do not have the mixture of religions and races that the US has. Otherwise, I enjoyed her thoughts on... One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal
One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal

Review:Imagine the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of people displaced and in danger. Families separated and unsure where to go or what to do. A government in chaos, unable (at least initially) to be of any assistance. Then imagine that this chaos had lasted an ENTIRE decade. That some of these families were so poor and so desperate to keep their children safe, that they sold just about every possession they owned in order to PAY to try and keep their children from being conscripted into a re... The Beach
The Beach

Review:Alex Garland's debut novel, "The Beach," is possibly one of the strongest first books from a writer in the 1990s. Published in 1996, it combines a psychological thriller, a travel story, and a portrait of why young people decide to leave home for months on end and travel around the world. While any and all of these themes could become (and have become, in other books) cliché in a matter of pages, it is a testament to Garland's skill as a writer and as a thinker that he manages to create a book... The Blue: A Novel
The Blue: A Novel

Review:The Blue is a very entertaining story about free spirits on a ship sailing from port to port as a closely knit unit and yet each as an individual seeking answers. Tragedy unfolds as the ship goes missing. Life lessons, like love and character, often appear in unexpected ways. Read more

How to Travel the World on $50 a Day - Travel Cheaper
How to Travel the World on $50 a Day - Travel Cheaper

Review:Excellent tips for saving money while traveling around the world, somewhat slanted toward the younger traveler. Many of the tips are applicable to any age group, fortunately, but a lot of the advice about lodging and saving money on food seem more useful to the younger crowd, or at least a more agile and adventurous crowd than this early 70's-age reviewer. I'd like to see a companion volume written on the topic for senior citizens! The book is well-written, and clearly Matt has experienced al... Read more

Beautiful Secret (The Beautiful Series)
Beautiful Secret (The Beautiful Series)

Review:I loved niall but was cut from a different cloth....and his reticence was a little exhausting. Of course I wanted an HEA for him and Ruby but his choice to go to his ex-wife's was phenomenally hurtful. Also, I doubt after the ex's portrayal throughout the book many found their oh so loving conversation even remotely believable. Great read overall. Read more

and Running the Old Country Store Pretty Much Led to One Calamity After Another

Review:This is a terrific read! Colossal failure told in an entertaining, funny, laugh until you cry kind of way. As much as we are hopeful for smooth transitions as we move through life sometimes it just doesn't happen. Ellen brings you along on her very bumpy journey and it is hysterical. If you have ever wondered what it is like to live in a small town in Vermont this will give you a hint - absolutely hysterical! Read more
