Review:This could have been a good book. It has an interesting dystopia/sci-fi premise, and a few decent plot twists. The writing, however? Awful. It needs some seriously heavy editing to be a good read. The characters are flat, uninteresting, and have not believable. Action sequences are interrupted by lengthy unnecessary explanations of the main character's thoughts and improbably long conversations. Plot development between action is by contrast brief and simplistic. The main character has no real s... Read more
Review:This book is terrible, just like the movie. Stephen King has long ago ran out of ideas but this is absolutely dreadful. Every single character is rehashed from a prior book. The loving writer husband...check. The child character who only serves as a motivating factor for actions but doesn't talk or have any personality...check. The idiot redneck character who ruins everything or does something really stupid while serving as Stephen King's characiture of "right wing" morons (Stephen King is a pre... Read more
Review:This book will answer all the questions that you may have had while reading all the CON books. It gives you insight into all the Malachi and what they have endured and the hope that Nick will stop Ambrose. Just because you were born to destroy the world, doesn't mean you have to. Read more
Review:I really enjoyed Annika's story. I felt is was an easy read for a summer day book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book to see how her story continues and how the story progression goes for the other characters I've grown interested in. Really hoping that a few of the other men get books of their own. Read more
Review:This is part of a series. As with most series it leaves you expecting more resolution, maybe wanting to read more.. Not worth my time to pursue more of the series even though it was inventive and entertaining. Read more
Review:How can someone write so well and have such a weak plot? The answer is, of course, that Hiatt attempts to give her teen romance a sci-fi spin and fails. The premise is so flimsy that it's unbelievable. It reminded me a little of Twilight, only the high school loser is in love with an alien instead of a vampire. This isn't entirely fair since Hiatt's writing is better than Meyer's, but the pacing is so slow that I had to force myself to keep reading the book. The romance part with all its angst a... Review:This book definitely makes you think about the things we take for granted. It makes me think again before complaining about anything and reminded me that no matter how bad things may be, there is always a silver lining. Read more
Review:I liked this book very much. There were parts that I found even more engaging than Code Name Verity.
The only issue I had with the audio book was the shrill voice the narrator used for one of the main secondary characters. All in all, I thought it was a great book and narration. Read more
Review:As reviewed on KayFrayBooks
It would have been easy for Merit to slip into the role of whiny heroine. I’ve found that a lot of books lean towards the complainer, mistaking complaints as angst or even conflict to keep the plot interesting,
I am happy to report that it was not the case with Some Girls Bite. Sure, Merit feels some growing pains. Who wouldn’t? But what does she do? She gets up, dusts herself off, and does what needs to be done… with her own Merit flair of course.
