Review:Perfect follow up to THWATG! I could do nothing else once I sat down to read. Loved Stephen, Foss, and McQueen and the final showdown. I'm not writing a spoiler review but if you loved the first book this one will return you to that world and have you trying to keep from reading too fast to find out how it ends. The epilogue basically assures a third book... Read more
Review:I loved reading this book - it was a page-turner - and wanted to like it more than I did at the end. But the plot has fatal flaws. The premise never made sense at the outset, and I kept waiting for it to be explained via some twist that never happened. The motivations for both the protagonists and antagonists never were explained and just weren't logical. In summary, a great read that never paid off. Read more
Review:"Lydia heard the distant flap of paper wings as the first book fell from its shelf." (p 1)
"And though she wanted to close her eyes and feel the promise of this moment, she couldn't help but look beyond his shoulder, hoping to see for one last time the girl he'd just erased from the screen." (p.326).
Inbetween these two sentences is a h*lluva of a good book, taut with complexity. Danger, uncertainty, compassion, caring are woven into a page-turner of a murder mystery. The narrator fo... Read more
Review:The book had a great description of the store that was described as an Ikea knock off, but I didn't find the book gripping, it was just alright. I liked the idea of the book but it could have been better and ended differently. Read more
Review:After reading this book, and my experiences with past Clancy books, it makes it hard for me to believe that he doesn't still live on through these adventures. There is Clancy on every page and I rated all his books with five stars. A spell binding read. Read the entire book in two days. Couldn't put it down. (I read electronically with my Kindle fire!) Review:Wow! Haven't read anything like this before when reading vampire books. Book kept me interested until the very end, in fact, it leaves you wanting more. This is first book I've read in the Blood Courtesan series and I'm dying to read more of them. Kol is one sexy vampire and Nova is extremely naive. So naive she doesn't realize what a monster her human boyfriend is. I received this book as a complimentary copy in exchange for a honest review. And boy am I glad I did, this is one set of books I d... Read more
Review:Lynsay does it again with another awesome book.
She makes up such great characters and there is such a good story line it just flows through the entire book.
The only problem with her books are they end so fast it seems. Read more
Review:I enjoyed this freebie. It kept me entertained and curious as to what was going to happen next. So what if Ally seems a bit shallow, we all have been shallow at times. Especially when young and on the prowl.(I spent alot of time getting ready back then...sigh.... I like how determined she is to meet this man she can't stop thinking about or looking at. Things do move a little fast after that, but who am I to question the author's vision of HER particular breed of vampire? The story ends on a ... Read more
Review:In 1920 five kids arrive at abandoned Yorkshire's Fountains Abbey with an alchemy book they stole from their school. They plan to perform a ritual to raise the devil, but instead flee in fear leaving behind the purloined tome. The next day a corpse wearing a gas mask is found near the book.
Scotland Yard sends troubled Inspector Ian Rutledge to identify the victim as the War Office has an interest in the body too. Although the Great War to end all wars may be over, Ian still suffers fr... Read more
Review:The story line and premise were fine, but the writing was rather immature. The author seems to have a fairly limited vocabulary which would be more suitable for a younger reader, but adults or experienced readers will long for polysyllabic words. Some of the characters were unbelievable. The mother, for instance, is an over the top religious fanatic who appeared cartoonish and unrealistic. I finished the book, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Read more
