Lynsay does it again with another awesome book.
She makes up such great characters and there is such a good story line it just flows through the entire book.
The only problem with her books are they end so fast it seems.

I couldn't put it down, as always. I had to make myself take a nap, but as soon as I woke up, I finished the novel. Read it in less than 24 hours. The mystery of who was behind the attacks kept me going. Also, a controlling mother and wondering what she would do next was mind blowing. Can't wait to see if G.G. gets a story

Lyndsay Sands never disappoints! Love the addition of new and expansion of existing characters. Never want this series to end. Been a fan since the first book came out and, unlike other series, each book just make me love the community she has created even more.

For over a century Elspeth Argeneau Pimm has been counting down the days until she could get away from her overly controlling mother and gain her independence. When that day comes and Elspeth moves to Canada to begin working with the Rogue Hunters, she’s excited to be able to try things she never would have imagined under her mother’s watch. Case-in-point, her landlady’s sexy grandson, Wyatt, just might prove to be exactly what Elspeth is looking for: no strings attached fun. Despite popular opinion, Elspeth isn’t ready to settle down with a Life Mate – should she happen to meet hers.

Wyatt and Elspeth have actually met before; four years ago, and Wyatt immediately fell in love. He was hurt when Elspeth stood him up the day after their meeting, and he’s kept looking for her ever since. Now, he’s surprised to find out she’s renting an apartment from his grandmother, and she has absolutely no recollection of Wyatt whatsoever. While he’s trying to figure out what happened to Elspeth’s memories, a barrage of strange accidents keep befalling Elspeth, accidents that funnily enough would have killed a normal person, but as Wyatt quickly learns, there’s more to Elspeth than meets the eye.

What I really enjoyed the most about Twice Bitten was seeing the family dynamic. Elspeth’s family is established. It is not new and just starting out. She and her siblings are grown (even if they are still considered young in Immortal years), and should be out on their own in the world. Yet tragedies in her mother’s past prevents Elspeth’s mother from letting her children go. It’s, at times, a toxic dynamic, but I think it speaks a lot about the burden that older Immortals carry. Those old enough to have seen the evils in the world repeatedly and how they’re subsequently effected.

The problems with Elspeth’s apparent memory loss were subtle yet in the end turned out to deal with a bigger picture-type issue. I liked how Lynsay Sands tied it all together, however, I think we could have felt the impact of her memory loss more if we had more snippets of what happened on that day four years ago when she and Wyatt met. It was just a little short of satisfying for me in that regard.

Overall, Sands’ Argeneau series never fails to entertain. I’ve enjoyed the “break” we’ve had from the previous story arc involving the missing Immortals where we get to see what else is happening concurrently with the hunt in Venezuela. Some not-so-veiled references have me wondering if we’re set to revisit that storyline in the next book.

Twice Bitten: An Argeneau Novel

4.5 stars
Negatives.
A few spots that were either slow or repetitive. Not many, and not enough to interfere with the enjoyment of the story. But, enough I noticed and felt the need to mention them. I don't remember seeing any typo's, etc.
This one is loaded with a few mysteries and they all get tangled together to make it more difficult for the Rogue Hunters to unravel. Elspeth is slap dab in the middle of it all and trying to avoid her mother's surprise visit at the same time. Talk about 'When it rains, it pours!"
Fast paced suspense. Loads of action (including the steamy parts). Plenty of humor.
"Yeah, that life mate sex is a killer. I mean, none of us intended to ruin the holidays we told you guys about. You just intend to give your loved one a quick kiss in passing and kapow!" Sam said on a sigh."
Someone is trying to kill Elspeth. Could it be her mother? Really? Is her Mother that nuts? As some of the answers to the mysteries involved in this story unfolds Elspeth has to really give this some serious thought. And you, as the reader, will wonder about it right along with her. Cause, I am telling you right now, her mother, Martine, has some really super serious control issues. Some of the things Martine says and does makes you want to slap her into a reality check!
As you can tell, I really enjoyed this one. The great thing about this series is how much it has grown and improved since the 1st book. I admit I was only mildly interested in the series after I read the 1st book. The 2nd was better than the 1st and so on. It was book #3 that really got me really interested in the series, but I think it was book # 6 that really got me hooked, line and sinker.
A series very worth following and 'sinking your teeth into'. Yummy!

It has been some time since I've read an IAD book. Not that I haven't purchased every single one of them. (points to library shelf) I have been a fan of these sexy, funny, sometimes quirky immortals from the moment I picked up the first book and Twice Bitten is no exception.

Reading an Argeneau story is like coming home to a family reunion. You may forget how a cousin or two are related at first, but suddenly it all falls into place. Twice Bitten is just like that. Not only for me, but the story as well for our heroine, Elspeth and our twice bitten hero Wyatt.

As much as I love these books, it is difficult for me to criticize, but an honest review is what you'll get. Most of the story is exactly what you'd expect from an IAD book. Strong women, men who are just as strong butting heads to our amusement and enjoyment as they find they can't keep their hands off each other. Of course there is action, but that is where the story made me want to smack a few immortals. Without giving too much away, Elspeth finds herself in danger and is appointed several bodyguards. Her acting guards are smart, intelligent women who, though not trained, have common sense. In Sands defense, how else could she have an ex-special forces Wyatt guarding Elspeth if the ladies were messing up?

The vilian is diplorable. In a world where stalkers are very real, Sands tries to put a spin on Elspeth's but falls short. I found him creepy, like 911 creepy or pull out the glock, mace or whatever you carry for personal protection and don't ask twice, shoot first type creepy. He belongs in a paranormal horror/thriller.

From a cray cray, controlling mother who should have had therapy a few centuries ago, to mentally ill mortals, Elspeth has kept to herself since moving to Canada from England to escape the crazy mama. We get more of her twin sisters, cousins, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins (I told you it was a family reunion), though I would have probably disowned my sisters if they acted like hers. There is much more to this story. Twice Bitten sets up for future books (I cannot wait for antics by the women based on a comment from Wyatt) and gives us more of old characters we love and of course I will be purchasing the paperback for my library!

Have you ever heard of ‘helicopter parenting’? Where a kid’s life is micromanaged? I’d heard of the term but I had to look it up. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a bonafide conflict and it plays an important role in this novel. Almost all the Argeneaus I’ve met have been wonderful, exciting and fascinating people to read about. In Twice Bitten, Ms. Sands introduced me to someone that is also interesting but for all the wrong reasons.

Elspeth is a heroine in need of saving. She doesn’t think so. I didn’t think so either, until the hero, Wyatt, came upon the scene. Since a reader is gifted with both Elspeth and Wyatt’s points of view, it becomes quickly apparent that something is a bit off. But what could it be? How could it happen?

If a reader checked out the synopsis, they’ll have an idea but the explanation, the reality of what is going on, is shocking. Frankly, I was horrified. Elspeth’s two sisters, The Boobsy Twins, first come across like Cinderella’s wicked stepsisters. For a lot of the book, I did not like them until one pivotal scene shed some light on their true natures. I really didn’t expect that. At. All. I think every one of them was in some kind of survival mode. What a way to live!

As for Wyatt – he’s a very confused hero. He can’t help but wonder what is going on with Elspeth. Slowly but surely he is eventually introduced to the reality that not only do Immortals exist, but Elspeth is one of them. The process from unknowing to knowing is one of the best parts of the book because so much happens to get him there. At times it’s funny, certainly entertaining, it’s sexy and hopeful. However, there are times where I got chills up my spine. The good thing about Wyatt? He’s solid hero material. Sure, he seems to take things in stride a little too easily, a bit too accepting and takes to hanging out with Immortals like a duck to water. That kind of blew my mind because you wouldn’t catch ME being able to have that level of laissez-faire when presented with people who have fangs. Maybe it’s because Wyatt had a military background? No matter, he’s sexy, yummy and perfect for Elspeth.

There is a lot to like in this novel. There is also a great deal of depth, suspenseful situations and rioting emotions that help create an amazing stage on which the romance between Elspeth and Wyatt plays out. I know that the story references Elspeth’s appearances in past books in the series, but it was hazy at best for me. I almost want to say this could be a standalone read, but perhaps not as once again the community that is the Argeneau family comes together to assist in fixing the debacle that surrounds Elspeth. I like it when the family members pitch in to support the current hero and heroine in their time of need. It’s a great feeling.

Seriously, I enjoyed every moment of Twice Bitten and the happy ever after is smile-worthy. The wrap up was wonderful on many levels. It had me giggling and happy and I am ever so glad to hear the news that was imparted by a ‘relative’ of Elspeth’s. There is hope for a bigger HEA for all involved; it’ll just take some time. The most important joy comes from Elspeth and Wyatt finally getting to stay together, forever. It’s the perfect romantic ending. Fans of this series are in for another great read and a treat when they dive into their own copy of Twice Bitten. Ms. Sands rocks!

I love reading Lynsay Sands. Whether it’s her Paranormal, Contemporary or her Historical Romance series, I always feel fulfilled after reading one of her stories. I can continually count on her to write fun and interesting characters, to constantly bring a smile to my face and to always have a little bit of mystery to make everything interesting. Twice Bitten is exactly what I expected from her.

Wyatt was totally unexpected. A mortal who fell in love with El and then lost her when she just didn’t show up. He was thoughtful, sexy and one of the most understanding men I have ever read. He knew what to say and when to say it and said it directly from his heart. There was nothing about this man that I didn’t love … including his Gran.

El was, unfortunately, smothered by her mother. When she finally did get away from her, it was only for her to come to Canada from England and then take control of her life again. But, she finds out that pain can stop this overbearing, hurtful woman from entrancing her again. She finds a solution to this but gives Wyatt a heart-attack every time she does it. Then again, with someone trying to kill her, she is constantly in pain. When she finds out the extent to which her mother took her suffocating ways, she has no choice but to confront her and put an end to her domineering mothering. She’ll have Wyatt and the rest of the Argeneau’s by her side and her sisters will have their freedom.

Lynsay Sands actually wrote a character that I hated. Martine was a bitch! She got under my skin, pissed me off and was just damn rotten. Understandably, she had her reasons, but she took being a doting mother just a little too far. It takes near death and threats for her to finally leave her children alone, return home and confess all to her husband. Then comes the weepies for me when El's father shows up and my heart just bursts.

Like I said in the beginning, Lynsay Sands just enthralls me. She writes stories that are so intriguing and has you turning page after page. She's fluent, fun and her writing is just plain wonderful. Again, she amazes me that she is still writing the Argeneau series and keeping it fresh and entertaining. I will be devastated if she ever decides to stop writing about this wonderful family.

This installment in the pack is a bit of a departure from the larger storyline. Sure, everyone is still short staffed because of the hunt for the evil doctor, but it doesn’t actually play in directly to the events here. The book is a bit of Cinderella mixed with sleeping beauty if you are a fairytale lover.

Elspeth has been trapped under her mother’s thumb all her life. What started as a smothering mother has definitely taken a turn into an incredibly damaging relationship. When your mother can actually control what you do and think, there’s a danger there that she’ll go too far, and that’s exactly what Espeth’s mother does. Lucky for her, during a trip, she manages to sneak away and move out on her own. That all begins to crumble away when her mother and sisters show up for a surprise visit. Her friend and landlady would have probably given her the heads up, if she hadn’t been busy with her own surprise visit in the form of her grandson, Wyatt.

Wyatt met Elspeth four years ago, but she appears to not remember. He should’ve probably known something was wrong when she never showed up for their follow-up date, but all the searching in the world didn’t find her for him. Those crazy nanos, however, ensured that she would certainly be able to identify her life mate when she re-meets him! With all of the abuse that Elspeth takes from her mother, it was nice to see Wyatt and her form a real and true bond. While this book didn’t really progress the larger story, it did show the darker side of immortal families and what can happen. I wonder where this series will take us next!

This was a really good story. I liked both Elspeth and Wyatt and enjoyed their story.

Elspeth is an immortal that is 142 years old and just now getting out on her own. Elspeth has tried to gain her freedom before but her mother is very controlling, a lot more than Elspeth realized until she moved out on her own. Elspeth got a teaching job in Canada and moved away from her family but with 6 weeks, her mother shows up for a "surprise visit" and wanting to rule her life again.

Wyatt is an ex-special forces military guy that now works in private security. Wyatt was a bit of a playboy until 4 years ago when he met the woman of his dreams, Elspeth. She disappeared on him and he hasn't been able to forget her since. Wyatt is surprised when he goes to visit his Grandmother and finds Elspeth renting an apartment from her and doesn't seem to remember him.

When Elspeth moved to Canada, she found an apartment online to rent and moved when her mother was out of the country so she couldn't stop her. Elspeth's teaching job starts in a few weeks but until then, she's helping out the enforcers in the area in her extra time. Elspeth made friends with her landlady and is just getting settled into her life when her mother and twin sisters show up unexpectedly. Elspeth is extremely unhappy about this and as we see the interactions between them, it's easy to see why. Let me just say that Elspeth's mother is deeply disturbed and this led her to do things to control Elspeth and her 2 sisters...things all 3 sisters hate and is causing them to hate their mother (with good reason).

Wyatt is extremely attracted to Elspeth but he also doesn't know why she acts like she doesn't remember him and is a bit suspicious of her knowing his Grandmother and how close they seem to be. Unfortunately, some things happen that soon make it clear that someone is trying to kill Elspeth. Wyatt finds out about Immortals during one of these attempts and it also comes out that he's Elspeth's lifemate so Wyatt's memory isn't wiped. Wyatt decides to help protect Elspeth and it gives them a chance to figure some things out between themselves, including why Elspeth doesn't remember that she'd already found her lifemate 4 years ago. Thankfully, Elspeth and Wyatt are able to reconnect and come together as a couple once they handle Elspeth's mother (horrible woman!). After some drama and danger, the bad guy is captured and Elspeth and Wyatt are able to finally relax and start on a HEA together.

This was a really enjoyable story. I will admit that the part that bothered me the most was Elspeth's mother...how a mother could do that to her kids is beyond me so let me just warn you not to expect a reconciliation. Elspeth is a good heroine and I liked her very much. Wyatt is a really likable character too and Elspeth worked very well as a couple. Overall, I really liked the story and found it very engaging so I'd recommend it. :)

* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a great job.

*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS- I'll warn you ahead of time* I'm a little bit shocked at all the 5 star reviews on this book, since it frustrated the crap out of me. I waited through the long wait list at my library because the last few books have been disappointing to me and I just don't want to pay for them anymore, and I am glad I didn't pay for this one. I know that sounds harsh, but after the last one where we had the hero being ashamed of the heroine through the entire book, I just don't trust that I am not going to be really irked that I spent $6.99 to be annoyed, again. Martine made this book really nothing but frustration for me. I gave three stars because I really did enjoy seeing old characters from books I loved so much I have re-read multiple times.

*SPOILER WARNING* I hated every scene Martine was in, and wasn't a fan of the twins at first either but thankfully they redeemed themselves quickly. At least you get an apology from them. Martine just leaves and that's it. Nothing. After all that drama and frustration you don't really get any closure from her. She did probably one of the worst things you could do to an immortal, keeping their life mate from them, not to mention wins the worst mom of the year award....ever... and you get no conclusion other than dad showing up saying HE'S sorry. That being said, this book did leave me hoping for GG's story, and if that happens to be one of the future books I might change my mind and purchase that one. You also get more of the Venezuela story line and I have to say it's just not a storyline I care for all that much. There are 4 immortals missing, all part of past books, all part of books I really enjoyed. You never figure out what happened to them. I don't know if that means the next book will pick it up, or if she just forgot to conclude that for us as well. I hate to give these kinds of reviews because Sands is one of my favorites. Her highlander books are still auto buys for me. I just can't help but be continually disappointed with her Argeneau series lately. I'm starting to feel like Sands is done with this series but her publisher is still making her write them, and her heart just isn't in it anymore.

Twice Bitten by Lynsay Sands is her newest Argeneau novel. After 27 novels the series just gets better. The characters are amazing and so full of life. I've always loved that Mrs Sands brings in characters from throughout the series to pull every one together. Twice Bitten has some of our favorite pass characters, Aunt Marguerite is back and helps save the day again. Every family needs an Aunt Marguerite. Of course for every family that has a wonderful family advocate there's always the family member that everyone wishes would just leave them alone. When the person is powerful, older and immortal what do you do?
Elspeth Pimms is 142 years old but you'd think she was only 16 according to how her mother, Martine treated her. Elspeth had to run to another country, heck another continent just to be free and able to live as an adult. The amount of betrayal my Elsbeth mother is amazing. Martine takes controlling, meddling, and overprotective to a whole new height. As if Martine wasn't enough for Elspeth to deal with now it seems someone wants her dead. Throw in finding your lifemate while trying to become your own person for the first time in 142 years, fighting to be free, and running for your life just how much can one person be expected to endure?
Keep in mind that this book is taking place in the same timeline as the North American enforcers are in Venezuela fighting against Dr. Dressler. This novel doesn't advance the storyline that was left off at the end of Immortal Unchained. I sincerely hope that the next book picks up the main storyline again.
I received an ARC from the publisher. This is my voluntary honest review.

How does Lynsay Sands continue to impress dozens of books later in the iconic Argeneau series! I loved this novel (and series) simply because it sets itself apart from other typical vampire romances. The characters and their immortality are a focus of the story but not the main plot. In Twice Bitten we get to have danger at every turn unrelated to Elspeth’s abilities!

Elspeth’s finally out of her own after decades under her mothers control. But within weeks she returns home to find not only her mother but her two sisters as well. And as soon as they arrive, it seems trouble arrives with them. With multiple attempts on her life and the lives of her friends and family, Elspeth has to come to terms that all is not what it seems. And sometimes the past can haunt you in many different ways.

Wyatt is entranced by the woman who’s moved in to his mothers new apartment. They have a past but Elspeth doesn’t seem to remember their night of blissful years ago. And there’s more secrets hiding behind this beauty’s eyes. Wyatt’s trained to protect but he never planned on protecting an immortal whom he’s fallen in love with.

Once again, Sands impresses with strong, independent female leads. Elspeth is not afraid to take charge of her own life even in the face of death. The twists and turns throughout Twice Bitten will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering just who could be after Elspeth and even Wyatt. Mix in some classic humor and of course the sexy aspect and this classic vampire novel belongs in your TBR pile!

Elspeth Primm, daughter of original Atlantean, Martine Argeneau Primm, escapes her mother’s controlling and helicopter parenting to live her own unrestricted life. She moves to Canada to teach criminology as an university professor in the fall. Only thing to do in the meantime is find something to occupy her time until then. So this leads her to helping out at the Enforcer House. Where she develops friendships, finds out someone is trying to kill her, confronts her mother, and even serendipitous re-meets her life mate, El soon finds out with time and perseverance, all chaos gets settled. However the journey is what matures a person.

Another Argeneau Vampire Novel where you do not have to read this series in order to understand the previous events. Standalone worthy. Although it would be a good idea to see a family tree to develop an idea how each character fits inside this monstrous circle. Even having not read all these books, I did like the reference to each life mate couple in this story. It did a great job establishing background or foundation.

Other Argeneau novel I have read is Immortally Yours. Scotty and Beth’s story. I enjoy the story these couples take to find their love.

After twenty-seven books you would wonder if things are going to start gettting stale. But after reading TWICE BITTEN, I can assure you this series is still as strong as ever. Not only were the characters and romance fantastic, it was an absolute hoot too boot. I can't count how many times while reading it that I cracked up laughing out loud.

I absolutely adored Elspeth's character. She's had to endure so much from her overbearing mother it was utterly insane. I wanted to reach through the pages and strangle that woman so many times, it's not funny. In fact it was impressive how humorous the book was in spite of how awful the mother was. So for Elspeth to have been such a strong character in the face of that opposition was nothing short of incredible, and I loved her all the more for it. And the hero, Wyatt? He was put through an incredible lot himself in a short time, but he took it all in stride. The two of them were very well paired.

If you are looking for fun read that's full of heat, humor, and high stakes, TWICE BITTEN is the book for you. I love the Argeneau books, and all I can say is keep them coming!

Twice Bitten by Lynsay Sands is book 27 in the Argeneau series. This is the story of Elspeth Argeneau and Wyatt MacKay. This can easily be a standalone book.
Elspeth is part of the Argeneau family and even if she is a 140 year old vampire she has lived a somewhat shelter life but always a controlling one by her mother. Elspeth mother had taken the lost of her family hard and became obsessed with keeping Elspeth save and in her control. But Elspeth became free of her mother but knows she will come back to try to take control of her again. So in the meantime Elspeth is enjoying freedom and not planning on doing any commitments other than helping her Vampire group. But then she meets Wyatt who she finds attractive but it also seems he may be her life mate...which is a big commitment. Along with that there have been accidents happening to her also. Wyatt met Elspeth a few years back and fell in love with her but she has no memory of their meeting. I so enjoyed watching Wyatt and Elspeth story come together!
Ms. Sands writing is always so great and is a must read for sure!

I have read all the books in the series. While the plot was interesting, it seems as though there was an abundance of descriptive details in each little scene. So much detail about ordering food, making sure there was clothing available, who is going to sit in what vehicle, just too much unneeded desciptions that took up page space. I skimmed over some of that dialogue, it didn’t really contribute to the plot.
Martine was overbearing with her children, the scene with her sister in law Marguerite, was one of the more pivotal scenes in the book. However, Martine just left, no real follow through. I wished the Author would have shown the follow up confrontation with Martine an her Husband, the fight and the resolution of Martine’s behavior. That would have been emotional and critical to the ending of this book.
I felt like we were just getting into the meat of the story, and then it was dissolved.
The relationship between Elspeth and Wyatt was missing some major heat. Their claiming each other as lifemates was rather blah.
One of my favorite earlier books in this series was Lucian meeting his lifemate Leigh. Along with some of the earlier Hunter books.they were so well written and the plot development was amazing.
These last few books, while somewhat entertaining, are definitely missing the intensity and connection of some of her earlier works.
I will continue to monitor this series, I hope they come back to their original glory.

I love this series and I enjoy the Argeneau family and all of their life mates. Each new book is an automatic one-click for me.

I loved Wyatt and G.G. and Meredith. I even like Elspeth. But I found it hard to like the twins, as they seemed petulant, even if for good reason. Their mother seems more of a psycho to me than a woman traumatized by her past hundreds of years before.

It seemed In this story, that anything that could go wrong did indeed go wrong. And as much as I love the series, I struggled with this one. There were good parts and parts that I found myself losing interest. Wyatt and Elspeth are definitely good together but their journey to becoming actual life mates wasn't my favorite. I love this author and this series so I hate to say this. I will still by the next book in the series, and because I loved G.G. so much, I'm truly hoping his story is next and that he gets a wonderful life mate!!

Reading this reminded me what I liked about this series after several years since reading the last book I read.

I was blown away ... again. We meet Elspeth Argeneau Pimms an immortal with the Mom from hell. Loss will do crazy things to a person and it does to Martine, Elspeth's mom. Enter Wyatt ... handsome ex-special forces turned bodyguard. Wyatt is visiting his Grandmother Meredith for his father to evaluate her competency to live alone. Enter Martine and Elspeth's twin sisters for a surprise visit ... Elspeth was less than thrilled, she did move from England to Toronto to get away from her mother. There were incidents that transpired to case worry for Ellie, earn her bodyguards and bring up other feelings.

This is an Argeneau book ... will there be a Life Mate?

Twice Bitten reintroduces us to some of the characters from earlier in the series (don’t worry if you haven’t read them) and gives us Elspeth’s story. Elspeth has run away from home. She is 142 years old dammit she should be allowed to be on her own. She has been in Canada for six whole weeks on her own when mommy dearest shows up. Poor Elspeth, in this story she gets stabbed, run over by a car, her home gets torched, there is an attempted poisoning, she gets kidnapped and worst of all she learns of the amount of betrayal done to her by her own mother. To balance that out she meets Wyatt, again and reunites with old friends and family that help her break free and move on.
This story is what keeps me buying everything Lynsay Sands writes. There is humor, love, great characters and a terrific story. Looking forward to the next installment.

I've read all the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands but I couldn't stand this one. I quit at 12%. I just couldn't take that mother. Also, the one thing I dislike about all of these books is that somewhere along the way (this time it was very early), the hero/heroine always needs blood and can't get it until the nanos are practically killing them. I could live without that.

Elspeth is trying to get out from under her controlling mother Martine. So she flees to Canada and helps out with the enforcers until she starts her teaching. (6 weeks in) On her way home she is injured and comes home to find her twin sisters and her Mother have been let in her apartment by the landlords grandson Wyatt.
Wyatt and Elspeth are lifemates and have met 4 years ago. He remembers and she does not and Wyatt inserts himself into her life again to find out why. We have secondary characters from old stories Rachel, Etienne, Greg, Lissianna, Marguerite, Julius and G.G (who i have missed).

This story takes place at the same time as the Dr. Moreau books since elspeth is told that immortals have disappeared and scotty and beth have been in a barn fire.

Really enjoyed this book as I have all the other 26 Argeneau novels. Couldn't put it down once I started. Loved Elspeth and Wyatt as well as all the rest of the characters in the book. Was so shocked at Martine as I remember her in different books but nothing terrible. Was really surprised that Elspeth and Wyatt had met before and was so glad to see that they got their second chance to be life mates. Love how Lynsay Sands brings back characters from all her other books into her present novels. I enjoy reading books that bring back previous characters so we can see how they are doing. HIghly recommend this book and the entire Argeneau series. They will have you smiling and chuckling throughout the entire book.

I feel like the series has recovered. The last few books were not up to the task. I have found new reasons to move onward (I would read the next one even if I hated this one). I fell for Elspeth/El all the way. She was more and less all at the same time. Wyatt was a man all the way, but he had something extra. He could understand a woman. He was sexy, hot, confident, and understanding.

I think my favorite parts was that we get some new Argeneau blood to be excited about and watch fall in love, get lost in mystery/suspense, dragged through drama, and find that this world can be good and bad all at the same time.

Elspeth had is rough. First and most importantly her mother. Damn, and we all thought our moms were bad growing up. Then having to deal with attempts on her life. As well as meeting her Life mate.

4-4.5 stars

“Vampires are considered sexy nowadays, while immortals . . . No one’s even heard of immortals.”

It’s been quite some time since I picked up an Argeneau novel. However, after cracking open Twice Bitten, it really didn’t take long for Elspeth and Wyatt remind me why I so enjoyed this series at one time. They are, after all, light-hearted, easy-going romances—nothing too serious even though there are serious moments throughout. And that’s readily on display in this 27th book in the series.

Yes, that’s right—27th. You don’t have to have read the earlier ones to be able to enjoy this somewhat suspenseful and sexy read, however. I’m around ten books behind and followed along just fine. More than fine. I recognized the characters and settings with ease, and enjoyed the banter between family members, life mates and morals (oh my!). I devoured the pages as the mystery unfolded and, though left with lingering questions, closed this book wholly satisfied . . .

. . . and ready to re-embrace a series that was once a favorite and was pushed out by my burgeoning TBR and family life. I seriously doubt it’ll be such a long time before I check in with the Argeneau series and family once more.

“ . . . none of them even touched my heart, while you flat-out owned it before I even kissed you.”

This is the story of Elspeth Argeneau, an immortal who has now decided to get out from under her mother’s thumb and start to live her life, so she moves from England to Canada, where she rents a apartment from Meridith, who she finds has been scammed for all her money by the previous tenant and El uses her immortal powers to make her confess and give all the money back.
But after spending nearly two months on her own, she is surprised to find her mother and two sisters sitting in her apartment and she immediately runs to check on Meridith, where she finds Wyatt Mckay who it seems is also her lifemate as she is unable to read his mind.
There is a lot of suspense and twist plots in the story and you will be scratching your head trying to figure out who is out to kill El.
We see again a lot of the characters from previous books and I like how the family stick together to get El away from her mother.
This was a great story, love every one of Lynsay Sands books in the Argenau series and look forward to the next instalment

Many twists and turns in this story. I thought that Elspeth and Wyatt were great characters who grew into themselves and loving each other. Elspeth's difficulties were clearly shown and Wyatt was great at helping her work through them. I loved how Wyatt was a strong manly man who was very comfortable with letting the women around him also be strong.

The secondary characters are as well defined as the main 2 and really add to the story. Wyatt's grandma Merry is super! The storyline keeps twisting and turning so that you don't know what will happen next in this fast paced adventure. If you have read the other Argeneau stories, then you knew what to expect. If this is your first Argeneau story, you really should go back and read the others in order, but there are A LOT! Either way, Lynsay Sands always writes a good story, so enjoy!

Absolutely love the Argeneau vampire series and Lynsay Sands is one of my top favorite authors as she never disappoints and this story is no exception. This is Elspeth Pimm's story along with mortal Wyatt MacKay who is happens to be her life mate. Elspeth along with her two twin siblings Julianna and Victoria Argeneau Pimms have been smothered and totally controlled by their mother Martine since birth. Elspeth moved from England to Canada to finally get away from her controlling mother and finds her life mate. A lot of action happens in this book and the intrigue will keep you quickly turning pages to see if they will get their HEA and all the evil characters will get their just reward. Great story as usual and cannot wait for the next in the series.

I’m amazed at the creativity and storytelling ability of this author. I preorder all her Argeneau books, without bothering to read the blurb, because I’m always guaranteed to love it! Wyatt and El’s book captured my attention, and held me hostage through the end. I really loved that, though the greater issues were mentioned in this story, the story itself wasn’t entwined with those issues. IE El and Wyatt’s story had nothing to do with the Dressler situation, though that storyline was mentioned throughout this book. Great job, and I hope to hear more about El’s side of the family in the future!

Lynsay Sands has once again captivated her fans with another Argeneau family story with excitement, suspense, secrets, betrayal and romance. Elspeth, who is immortal, doesn't remember meeting Wyatt, who is mortal, 4 years ago, and he doesn't know why, then add to that the fact someone is trying to kill Elspeth, there is a lot of action and secrets to reveal. Love, loved this book.

IT is amazing to me that even after writing a series as long as this one has been blessed to be, Lynsay Sands still can find a new twist, an interesting character, a new story line or a new type of villain to keep her readers engaged. As one of those engaged readers I can only say this is a wonderful book to spend a few hours with.

I love the Argeneau Series, they are wonderful creations about Vampires that are really not Vampires. If you have not tried this Series by Lynsay Sands you should and I know you will not be disappointed.....

Lindsay Sands always makes me smile. This is a great addition to the immortal series. A wonderful couple that made me smile. As always visiting old loved characters makes my heart warm. Thank you for the gift L S!

I have read every book in this series and each one is loaded with drama, action, romance and interfering relatives and I couldn't love it more! The reader can start here and be fine with jumping right in, but they will want to go back to book 1 and start there, because this series is just that good!! This book is one of my favorites, so far! I know that I say that about all of them, but this one really was a good read! It had a new plot, it wasn't like reading all of the others and thinking it was the same book with different names. This one had several sub-plots and while that may sound confusing, it wasn't. The reader was easily able to shift from one to the other with no problems.

The reader instantly hates Martine and her controlling ways....they love G.G. and the reason for his name and they want El and Wyatt to be able to work through things. The reader can't help but want the characters to all be happy - even in the midst of unhappy times. The author takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions and leaves them trying to figure out where the author is going to take them next. I love this series and I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!

The author gives the reader a little bit of previews as to what is coming next, but there is no actual written blurb - it is just hints throughout the story...and the hints are shaping up to make a doozy of a story...I am ready and waiting....hopefully the wait won't be too long!!

I read this book in one night. I really enjoyed it ? We follow Elspeth who has escaped her overbearing mother to live her life. Unfortunately, only being away for a few months her mother is back in her life and controlling her - literally. She also meets Wyatt who is the grandson of her land lady. They met years ago but Elspeth has no memory of it. Someone is attacking Elspeth and Wyatt appoints himself as her bodyguard. With that feelings grow between them. It's a quick read and easy to follow. I didn't know this but this is book #27 in the Argeneau series. I do believe it can be read as a standalone but all couples mentioned or met in the book definitely have their own stories. I am interested in reading more from this author.

Great book, like most of her are. There is a little mystery in it and I normally can figure it out right off. This book, I didn't know it until it was figured out. Nice job Lynsay Sands, nice job. Romance, humor, and a mystery in all wrapped in one book.

Lynsay Sands has done it again. I lo be the way she brings her characters to life.

If you've read all or most of this series you will remember most of the characters in this story. Ms. Sands has brought together several characters from previous stories and she's done it in such a way that it seems quite natural for them all to be together.

It seems like the excitement not only never ends it doesn't even slow down. El and Wyatt go from one crisis to the next with hardly any breathing room in between. If you like excitement in your reading material and a taste of immortality you will enjoy Lynsay Sand's "Twice Bitten".

Characters in this book are full of what looks like 25 year old parents, children, siblings and excetera. These characters have personality, they are relatable, and at times hilarious.

I could tell you what the book is about but if you're not paranormal reader might not consider books by this author. Personally I just love this author and have been collecting some of her books for years and enjoyed them immensely. I haven't laughed so hard or cry or grown in frustration with the characters of the story.

I would highly recommend this book.

I love all her Argeneau Novels. Some more than others. This one I've read four times already. God bless all the Argeneau's and Ms. Lynsay Sands and her understanding family. I recommend anyone with one romantic bone in their body to read these novels. No romantic bone? Read it anyway!?
