The Truth: A Novel of Discworld
The Truth: A Novel of Discworld

Review:Sir Terry Pratchett's entire Disc World series is worth a read. By the time he wrote "The Truth," the tone had been shifting from straight-up comic (often snort-out-loud) fantasy to include political and social commentary. I read through the entire series in order of publication and plan to start all over again some time soon. Read more

The Grace of Kings (The Dandelion Dynasty)
The Grace of Kings (The Dandelion Dynasty)

Review:The Grace of Kings is a refreshing alternative to European-based high fantasy. It's packed with interesting characters, features some great worldbuilding, and engagingly delves into the burdens of empire. Read more

Lyric's Curse (Dragonblood Sagas Book 1)
Lyric's Curse (Dragonblood Sagas Book 1)

Review:I enjoy reading smaller author books on my kindle, this one looked like it would be good, the synopsis intrigued me, and it had dragons so YAY! The idea behind the story was good, I like the concept of it, however that's about all I can say that was good about it. Alot of the dialog was forced/robotic and I just couldn't picture any person ever talking like that. But worse then that, there were SOOOOOO many spelling, grammar, typos in the book it just ruined the flow. I get to going and then... Read more

The Legend of the Bloodstone (Time Walkers) (Volume 1)
The Legend of the Bloodstone (Time Walkers) (Volume 1)

Review:I feel very misled that this book was in the syfi section. Ok, so there was a 2 page event that included traveling back in time that had little to no effect on the rest of the plot. This is a romance novel simply put and should be in that section. I did find the history interesting and slowly made my way through this book skipping over vast sections just hoping that the syfi would suddenly make its way back into the story. Nope, just more romance. The author is a good storyteller no doubt, just ... Read more

Rise of Gods (The Paternus Trilogy Book 1)
Rise of Gods (The Paternus Trilogy Book 1)

Review:I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. It's one of the SPFBO finalists. If you don't know what that is then, (seriously, where have you been???) you should take a look at Mark Lawrence's website.

I had heard a few things about it beforehand but I like to think I have a reasonably open mind.

After a rocky opening chapter Ashton settles down to the business of reminding me why I read so many of Dean Koontz's books. This is urban fantasy done right. Not a sparkly vampire or shir... Read more

The Liar's Key (The Red Queen's War Book 2)
The Liar's Key (The Red Queen's War Book 2)

Review:A Great follow up to "Prince of Fools." Lawrence has an engaging writing style and keeps his story line moving without sacrificing too much detail. This tale of a reluctant hero is interesting and refreshing. Read more

Athenian Steel (The Hellennium Book 1)
Athenian Steel (The Hellennium Book 1)

Review:This is a good romp through the early part of the Peloponnesian War. It's of the alternative history genre but with a twist: the protagonists are trying to change the outcome of the war with Athens winning with the help of time traveler(s). While it was fun seeing what happens to well-known historic Athens figures, what was most interesting was the depiction of Spartan life, which I was not fully aware of. Read more

Killer Frost (Mythos Academy Book 6)
Killer Frost (Mythos Academy Book 6)

Review:Jennifer Esteep has become one of my favourite authors. This series is an amazing tale of good verses bad with mythological twist that involves many religions and cultures as well as their Gods. Percy Jackson would have a run for his Money when faced with Gwen Frost and her friends. The series ended on a beautiful note with me feeling relaxed and fulfilled with the knowledge of the characters current and future situations and she also left the story open to more books in the future. I would not... Read more

Eleven Novels Featuring Thor - Native American Spirits
Eleven Novels Featuring Thor - Native American Spirits

Review:Love the writing but I misunderstood what I was getting. All 11 books are the starting novel to different series. I thought they where all stand alone books. Now I have to go find 10 series of books. Yes I liked all but one. Read more
