Thirteen (Otherworld)
Thirteen (Otherworld)

Review:Reading this after having read the preceding books (Bitten, Stolen and Dime Store Magic) means that this time around I have a much stronger feel for the character interactions and how they play off each other (the last time I read this, I hadn't read the first two books). Although it is possible to have read this book after only reading "Dime Store Magic," IMHO it is better to have read all preceding books first.

In "Industrial Magic," children of Cabal employees are being attacked and (... Read more

Review:There were so many times that I wanted to walk away, because the emotions this book stirred were so intense. But, it was like a train wreck, I just couldn't look away, I HAD to know what happened. I didn't skim, I lived through every drag out emotion invoked. Great book, amazing writing, keep at it girl, you've DEFINITELY got it! Read more

Elite: A Hunter novel
Elite: A Hunter novel

Review:Once again:

I expected richly developed characters with who I could relate, love and hate;

I expected the continuation of the already well developed story from the first book, Hunter, to continue with new plot developments, new twists, new characters, and a new appreciation for Ms. Lackey's incredible mind;

I expected the story's rapid fire pacing and at the end, the satisfaction of a story well ended with anticipation towards the next book in the series without the overused... Read more

The Unnoticeables: A Novel (The Vicious Circuit)

Review:This is exactly my can of tuna - filthy, funny, violent contemporary paranormal fiction. Now I can go back to reading picture books for a while.

The Unhappy Medium: A Supernatural Comedy. Book 1
The Unhappy Medium: A Supernatural Comedy. Book 1

Review:Wow, this is best thing I've read in many years. An artful blend of comedy and thrills featuring a bloodthirsty revenant from the Spanish inquisition. The author has a knack for clever dialog and amusing phrases. The characters are interesting, and quite believable - if you make allowances for the wildly imaginative circumstances, and don't include the villains who are at once clownish and horrifying. Do yourself a favor, and ignore the naysayers who would doubtless emerge unscathed from a s... Read more

A Novel (The Practical Magic Series) - The Rules of Magic
A Novel (The Practical Magic Series) - The Rules of Magic

Review:Ok, here's the deal: As a 'Practical Magic' (the movie) fanatic I found this book difficult to read because I could not see the Aunts, Fran and Jet, in the characters the author described. I did try to read the original book 'Practical Magic' but could not get through it because it was so far off from the characters, plot, scenes, location, etc., that I had begun to find it irritating. I know, I know. You can't judge a book by its movie! The thing is though, it was so far off the movie plot ... Read more

The Boy and the Peddler of Death - The Tale of Onora
The Boy and the Peddler of Death - The Tale of Onora

Review:Definitely worth the read. The book was a great set up to a great story. I hope that it continues to be just as good as the promise of this first book. I really enjoyed how it juxtaposed our current society and the problems therein. The philosophical questions and statements were lovely and the set up of the fantasy world was bang on. It was a bit convoluted to begin with but I got the hang of the style pretty quickly. I liked how I was sucked into the story and just wanted to know what happened... Read more

A Gripping Psychological Thriller - Red Rain
A Gripping Psychological Thriller - Red Rain

Review:This book is quite the psychological thriller. It didn't pull me in as early as other books written by David Beers, but once it got going I was hooked. The characters really get in your head. Even though John is seriously disturbed, he still manages to come off as relatable. Does that make me sound like a serial killer?
Generally I like how descriptive David's writing is. He has a way of painting a scene to fully immerse you in the experience or emotion. That being said, I thought the writing... Read more
