The Original Horror Masterpiece - The Call of Cthulhu
The Original Horror Masterpiece - The Call of Cthulhu

Review:In The Call of Cthulhu HP Lovecraft has fashioned a truly spooky story that haunts the reader long after finishing the book. The concept is simple enough, a man has spent his life searching for a strange cult. He doesn't find it, but he finds the trail of men who did come across its worshipers and he puts the evidence together to discover an astounding truth. The truth is so horrible he can't face it and wants the story of the cult, all the evidence he has gathered, destroyed. What makes the... Read more

(Night Watch 1) (Night Watch Trilogy) - The Night Watch

Review:I enjoyed the parallel structure of the world(s), the two bodies in balance. Anton was a less compelling character for me than other books. Olga and Gesar, and secondary characters, are more interesting in this story. Read more

Diary
Diary

Review:Chuck Palahniuk's latest offering takes the form of a diary kept by Misty Marie Kleinman. The text of this diary, while personal, is directed at her husband, Peter Wilmot. Peter is in a coma for having, apparently, tried to commit suicide. Misty is, and has been for some time, miserable. She lashes out at Peter in her diary and in the process tells her story of why she is writing this diary and brings her life up to date while telling a very interesting story.
Diary examines the life of M... Read more

The Wilds: The Wilds Book One
The Wilds: The Wilds Book One

Review:This book has aspects that I've found annoying in other books: girl in insane asylum, people who keep an excruciating amount of secrets, a super naive unreliable narrator...but this book is able to pull them all off well. This world have created legitimate reasons to have tight-lipped, unreliable characters...and this isn't a romance, which is absolutely appropriate for a narrator who, at 18, has lived the last 14 years as an "untouchable" in a prison for the insane.

Very curious what wil... Read more

Forced Ascent (The Demon Accords Book 7)

Review:this by far shows the depth of Mr Conroes ability to draw the reader to the next word.Even if you see it coming it's sheer artistry is evident in that your close but close isn't the point you find even your proximity is eclipsed by his prose. Kudos to him and his editors for a fantastical look at humanity's greatest question are Darkken, were and witches real Read more

Rogues
Rogues

Review:Don't hate on this please. But while I absolutely love the GOT books' storylines, characters, and scenes, which Gorge R.R. Martin so expertly and economically sets up, it's continually difficult for me to wade through the style of prose he's chosen to tell the tale. It just breaches the hokey line, in addition to the highbrow mark, a bit too often for my taste. But of course I read on. This world he's created is just too intriguing to stop. One just has to know what happens next. Read more
