This book has aspects that I've found annoying in other books: girl in insane asylum, people who keep an excruciating amount of secrets, a super naive unreliable narrator...but this book is able to pull them all off well. This world have created legitimate reasons to have tight-lipped, unreliable characters...and this isn't a romance, which is absolutely appropriate for a narrator who, at 18, has lived the last 14 years as an "untouchable" in a prison for the insane.

Very curious what will happen in next book.

Well written -I couldn't put the book down unfinished. Not the typical paranormal romance either. Somehow the heroin's anxieties do not overpower the plot and despite the strange circumstances the reader still can empathise with her - a pariah. I loved this book.

I really liked the story plot. But was really disappointed with the relationship building especially between the protagonist and the romantic intrest. I just felt that all the relationships seemed rushed. After reading some of the reviews on book 2 & 3. I don't believe it gets better so I am toren on weather or not to contiue this series. If I do I will update this review. But as of now I am not continuing this serie

Although I have questions on some of the holes in the story line, (which I believe will be covered in the series), this is a very good read. In the beginning I felt like shaking the lead character because her actions didn't conform. Then I thought...how the heck was she suppose to act after being locked away for so long, and tortured? Made sense then. It's not a light read, dark in some areas. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
