Review:I became interested in this book after reading "I know this much is true" and "She's come undone". I was hesitant to buy it after reading that it was not written by Lamb but after reading some of the reviews I decided to take a chance on it. I finished the book in 2 days. I couldn't put it down.
The stories really are sometimes hard to hear, but it feels like something that needs to be heard. The stories in the book do humanize these writers who are criminals - but they are humans firs... Read more
Review:This book lays out a concise strategy for writing and gives very good advice for creating, structuring, revising and submitting your research paper. Many of the strategies are applicable in other forms of writing as well. Well worth your time and money. Read it at least twice then refer to it often! Read more
Review:Awesome. Came in a timely matter. The hardcover is way worth the buy, even if it's a bit roughed up, because this book should last a life time if taken care of properly. Though that's not to say that you can't take it outdoors, because this book is definitely meant for it. Read more
Review:It was nice to refresh my memory on the early books, as I always forget what happened in what book. I bought the Kindle Fire version and my only wish, was that it had page numbers and a chapter index so I could pop back and forth easily. I enjoyed the questions and answers and opinions Diana Gabaldon provides throughout. Now, on to the second Outlandish Companion book for the remaining books. Read more
Review:I use this book pretty consistently for both of my kids (one is 3, one is 9 months). It has some helpful tips. I especially like making the super baby porridge.
However, the style in which it is written is a bit scattered, with random facts and figures thrown in as if the author is a health professional, which she is not. Read more
Review:The book was in horrible condition when I received it. Pages were folded, crinkled and the back cover is being held on by 2 small sloppy pieces of decorative tape. This book needs to be taken out of circulation. Read more
Review:Sol Stein has taught some of the most illustrious writers of the last half of the 20th century how to write. So it is not surprising that he writes beautifully and is also a wealth of critical info. Every chapter makes a technical point that every writer should never forget. A great and useful book. Review:This text gets an extra star because I'm familiar with the original copy.
The pages are a recycled mess, with blurred pictures in an array of
font sizes. The pictures are minuscule without a microscope.
I'm certain I have my three decades old copy, which remain
( sealed in a trunk ) in pristine condition. I just wanted to present
a newer copy as a gift to a tiny ballerina hopeful. The Grant Manual
is a great text, but not in this recycled brown paper-version. Read more
Review:DONT BUY THIS BOOK. I read all the reviews before I did and I thought this book would be an amazing addendum to my self work...then I hit a speedbump. Waldemen & Newberg's stance on anger is disappointing. Anger is an emotional reaction that needs to be dealt with. Unfortunately, he does not recommend any strategies..but dismisses it as some aberration that we are afflicted with and he himself has it.....or at least reflects it in his handling of a story about a business and a therapist. I f... Read more
