Review:I was most definitely not the intended audience for this book, but I also dislike Rutherford’s style; I did not get much past Part I. I had hoped that the book would be an update and elaboration of the books by Spencer Wells – now "we have approximately 150,000 fully sequenced human genomes, and useful samplings from literally millions of people, from all over the world." Rutherford’s stated objective in Part I is “the rewriting of the past using genetics, from a time when there were at leas... Read more
Review:In his now-classic "Influence", Robert Cialdini tagged along with vacuum salesmen, car dealers and other persuasion professionals to come up with the six psychological principles that were "deployed routinely in long-prospering influence businesses" -- reciprocation, liking, social proof, authority, scarcity, and consistency. Those principles are still solid gold. Prof Cialdini once again gets his hands dirty to uncover an even deeper level of influence: how to make compliance almost a foregone ... Read more

HOWEVER, my book arrived with several blank pages, I'm assuming due to a printing error. Destinations #4, 5, 7, 8, 1... Read more

Review:I purchased the thick paperback edition in 2003 and have used and enjoyed it often. I like the commentary and background.
In preparing for a trip to Italy, I got the Kindle edition so I would not have to lug the book or photocopy the pages I wanted to bring.
Boy was that a mistake. The Kindle edition is so sparse. I was under the mistaken impression it would have the same content as the paper version.
