Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - The Unthinkable
Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - The Unthinkable

Review:"The Unthinkable" logically deconstructs disasters and examines who survives and who doesn't. It provides a fantastic framework for examining risks in your life, and thinking about how best to surive these risks. It is not a doomsday book about stockpiling food in your basement bunker, but instead deals with a way to think about these situations beforehand, so that you will be better mentally prepared.

The book is well-written, and I had trouble putting it down. My wife is currently re... Read more

An FBI Profiler Shows You How to Identify and Protect Yourself from Harmful People
An FBI Profiler Shows You How to Identify and Protect Yourself from Harmful People

Review:I bought this book for my own information and also to share with family members. Although we recognize people with these traits, it's great to be able to evaluate personality types and to educate ourselves on those around us who make us feel uncomfortable. While we may not know too many people who fall into the extreme range, it helps to evaluate our fellow man, if only to understand who or what we are up against. Read more

Keeping Children and Teenagers Safe (and Parents Sane)

Review:Great book sugested by a security consultant at work. Kind of scarry when you read about the risk our kids have, but good to have some ways to protect them. The author call it intuition but I call it the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Read more

Discover the Secret to Permanent Weight Loss - The F-Factor Diet
Discover the Secret to Permanent Weight Loss - The F-Factor Diet

Review:The book itself was interesting and informative. But, we know that if we follow any diet to the letter, we will loose weight in the 4-6 lbs range for the two week period. What was my major disappointment was the fact that Whole Foods doesn't carry the cracker anymore nor can you find the Dannon Fit and Crave Yogurt anymore. I contacted both companies and Dannon completely discontinued the product. I guess we can add the Fibersure that she is the spokesperson for to another yogurt, but that d... Read more

My Own Country: A Doctor's Story
My Own Country: A Doctor's Story

Review:Have read Abraham Verghese's novel Cutting for Stone and so enjoyed the read. Amazon suggested My Own Country by the same author. What was interesting was that Dr. Verghese moved to the smoky mountains of Tennessewe in the 80's to work at a local hospital. His specialty is infectious disease. The doctor loves the area and its people, feeling that it is a good place to raise a family. Also one of the first Aids case appears. Wonderful follow up to his first book. Read more

The Tennis Partner

Review:Worth reading. Good look into dynamics of addiction and impact on those around the user. Verghese is an engaging author and captures the attention of the reader quickly. While not light, the issues he tackles are real. Read more

The Productivity Habits of 7 Billionaires - 29 Straight-A Students

Review:Love love love this book, it's been a revelation. I've binned the ineffective to-do list in favour of the MIT and now I'm scheduling everything that matters. This book gave me a major wake up call and Kevin Kruse, I owe you !! Determined not to waste any more of the 1440, and inspired by 'in their own words' I have a new lease of life! Love the way the author relates this to all walks of life, CEO to SAHM and all in between. Great book, such great value. Read more

Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges
Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges

Review:When I began to read Presence I found myself suspecting that I was going to end up hating it. It felt like one of those self-help books stuffed with testimonials to make up for the lack of content. But I'm glad I persisted, because this is a book that grows in authority as it goes on. In the end, the testimonials come to feel like foundations to prepare the reader for their encounter with the deceptively simple insights, including those on the conscious use of posture, that Amy Cuddy's research ...
