Review:Doris Kearns Goodwin does it again! She has the unique ability to make whatever she writes about fascinating. I was able to learn many more things about LBJ and his life than I already knew. Gave me a new appreciation for the man. Read more
Review:Outstanding next chapter in the years of Lyndon Johnson. Mr. Caro brings to life the years of World War II through Johnson's quest for a senate seat. I personally enjoyed learning so much about his senatorial opponent; Coke Stevenson and his unfortunate loss to Lyndon Johnson by less than ethical behavior. A great read that flows brilliantly from the authors outstanding writing style. Read more
Review:Superbly informative and readable for the layman looking to get to grips with the tenets, beliefs and practices of Islam. In the age we live in today, all Westerners should get to grips with Islam and what it means for the Kafir. This book represents a great start point Read more
Review:I bought the Kindle version and there frankly wasn't much of a story. The pictures were good, but I got nothing about either Mr. Savage or Teddy. Perhaps it was a bad digital copy, but I was disappointed. Read more
Review:This is a very good book; it is short, thoughtful, pointed and easy to read. Ellis demonstrates that after the War, there was no consensus in the general public for the establishment of a new nation in which the colonies would be subject (in any respect) to the authority of a central government. In short, colonists rallied to revolution, but not to nationhood. Ellis argues that the evidence shows that forming a corporate nation was the vision and the work-product of a few good men, but only a fe... Read more
Review:I bought this as a Christmas gift for my brother. The shipping estimate said 10 days, but I received it in about 4, in time for Christmas, and it arrived in perfect shape. I do not doubt that it would be an interesting read. Read more
Review:Pfeiffer’s book attempts to hit two targets. First, it’s a rollicking account of his White House years working as a communications director for President Obama, a leader he extravagantly admires. Second is to offer some warnings and lessons going forward. He succeeds decently well on both accounts, although it’s safe to say only Democrats will enjoy reading what he shares.
In terms of offering an Oval Office diary, it’s entertaining and highly informative. The book is often profane, which I ... Read more
Review:David Litt recounts his experiences as a speechwriter in the WH with candor, humor, and grace. And it’s terrific. He manages to hit the highs - and the lows - of life in Obamaworld without sounding maudlin; no small feat for a book that was finished in the weeks after Trump took office.
I expected to like this book; I did not expect to love it. Litt surprised and delighted me, and he even gave me some new things to consider. I closed the book feeling hopeful - not just about the future, but a... Read more

Review:I do like Elizabeth Warren and support her drive to protect middle class America so I read through this entire book. It was faster than you might think since the last 40% is just citations for quotes. It is easy to see her passion but I didn't find much new here. The videos of her questions at the Senate hearings over the past year seemed much more to the point. Read more
