What Happened to Goodbye
What Happened to Goodbye

Review:The plot was very anticlimactic and the main character was a bit of a cliche. This book was too reminiscent of past Dessen books, but poorly executed. Same stock characters as always. Don't get me wrong, I truly love Sara Dessen's writing, but this was very lackluster, somewhat unrealistic, and led by a rather bland character. Also, the standard boy love interest didn't really make it into the story that much....you kinda forgot they had a thing. I genuinely hope that Dessen blows us away with h... Read more

Review:Closer to 4.5 stars.

My nearly ten year-old smarty pants son read this; early in the book, he set it down and turned to me, saying "you know how sometimes when you read a book and someone dies you really feel sad and need to take a break 'cause it's hard to keep going?" I replied "don't forget -- I'm the person who cried during the opening scene of [the movie] 'Hachi' and never stopped!" He laughed and said "oh yeah."

His younger brother (our youngest son) is profoundly development... Read more

Paperboy

Review:I bought this book for my nine year old grandson, and I started reading it because I had just finished the book I was reading, was on an airplane and had nothing else to read handy. I liked the book, but felt that parts of it were not suitable for my grandson, so just brought it home with me after my visit. Read more

A Single Shard
A Single Shard

Review:I enjoyed this book, perhaps, because I have been to Korea twice and could visualize the trip taken to deliver the pottery to the Royal palace. The ethical lessons were excellent and the characters well developed. I have seen the ovens used to develop the Celedon color and marvel at the technique and results. I would recommend this book to anyone from age 10 and up. Read more

And to make it even worse,Fudge plans to marry Sheila Tubman! To find out what happens you have to read this book. Fudge-a-Mania! Blume created one funny event after another in this story. Superfudge

Review:In Super Fudge, Farley Drexel Hatcher (otherwise known as Fudge) tries to sell Tootsie the new baby but Fudge fails. The question still remains ... will Peter survive? I connect to Super Fudge when fudge threw a cracker at Peter, it reminds me when my baby cousin Tommy poured milk on me. If you like hilarious books you should read Super Fudge. You should also read this book to someone who annoys you to teach them a lesson, but don't tell them the lesson after you read it. Shhh! Read more

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Fudge)
Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Fudge)

Review:I was struggling to find any books that my 9 year old daughter would get into. Then I started thinking about the stories I use to enjoy. Judy Blume was the first author I thought of and "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" was one of my favourites. My daughter loved reading it and was eager to get to bed and start reading it each night. Thank you once again Judy Blume... now onto some of your other favourites. Read more

Summer of the Woods (The Virginia Mysteries)
Summer of the Woods (The Virginia Mysteries)

Review:My son love this! We met the author this summer and got a copy of this - it was a perfect summer reading adventure. It is very cool that it takes place in Virginia where we live. It's got a bit of history, adventure and mystery which is perfect for a second grade reader. It reminded me of the way he enjoys the Magic Tree House series. I can't stress enough how exciting the local aspect is for us. We are very excited for the rest of the series! -CBL

Book Scavenger (The Book Scavenger series)

Review:Cannot imagine a better way to kick off the summer reading season! Mysteries, ciphers, suspense, and heart-pounding adventure supported by friendship, heart, and a genuine passion for books. Every reader, young and not-so-young, will enjoy getting to know Emily and James, and the many facets of their escapades. The author's ability to translate her cipher and code expertise into something a novice scavenger can understand (and devour) is a gift. She will undoubtedly get young readers to put down...
