Review:I love the "Little Orphan Annie" scenario. Many of my favorite books have an insecure child finding love, self worth and security in a surrogate family. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1) is one of the most popular ones. Frances Hodgson Burnett made a career of them, A Little Princess (Annotated),Read more
Review:Could not finish this one. A rambling, incoherent jumble about nothing. There seemed to be a subtle, but awkward attempt to convey a liberal imessage of some kind, but it wasn't worth the effort to attempt to translate it. Wasted money. Read more
Review:It is difficult for me to describe what causes something to be really scary to me. Not sickening, disgusting, or even shocking; but really scary. Parts of this book were really scary to me, in a way I do not remember for any other book. Scary in a way I might associate with so-called “Jungian archetypes”; which I suppose are images in everyone’s unconscious. The evil room with an even eviler room in back with a room even more malevolent in back of that.

Review:Love the clarity and freedom from the rigid followership of Strunk & White...even though I still refer to that guide regularly, like millions of others. Appreciate a new guide for the current age! & one that is actually interesting to read! Read more

Review:I like Bryson. I enjoy reading his books. This one was no exception. I suppose the first thing I like about thi author, is that we both have the same attitude toward life.
Bryson did a fantastic job on this book. It tells a accurate view on American and English culture. He is not your typical travel writer.
A fine, intelligent work that will have you entertained from cover to cover. Read more
Review:While Bryson can be bitter and cynical, this book is not one of that sad set.
Browse this in otherwise wasted moments, be awed at the depth of research he has done into the way words have been diverted and perverted over time. Read more
Review:Patton Oswald's Zombie Spaceship Wasteland is a jumble of moments remembered and twisted fantasies conceived, assembled into a hallucinatory narrative that tells many stories, but mostly paints a picture of the inner world of one of our generation's best comedians.
Oswald's constant pursuit to improve, to never settle for having a "thing", a comedic gimmick, is shown in the process of book. Much like Stephen King's On Writing, Zombie Spaceship Wasteland is a portrait. It leaves you knowing mo... Read more
