Review:If you ever worked at the Post Office, Bukowski described it to a tee. I don't think things have changed there in decades, especially the management's antics. It is comical of the situations the main character is put into by no choice of his own. The portions of the book outside the Post Office are a downhill rollercoaster of a tragic life. I did enjoy the book and would read other of his novels. Read more
Review:Rant sheds light on yet another sick subculture of impossibilities... the story was raw, completely unpredictable, and very unsettling. It was beyond Chuck. I've never written a review about a book before, but I feel I'm compelled to because it got an overall 3.5 stars. Apparently only us "nighttimers" tried to bring this experience some justice.

Review:Having just finished Beautiful Ruins, I couldn't wait to get my hands on another Jess Walter book. The first half of The Financial Lives of the Poets was a delight, -- beautifully written, at times hilarious, and so topical. I loved the cynical, beaten down, yet slyly humorous voice of the narrator, the journalism references, the evocation of the recent financial meltdown with all its villains and struggles. The poetry was wonderful, too. But midway through, I thought the novel really jumped the... Read more
Review:Auntie Poldi. She’s a man-loving - especially Inspector Vito Montana-loving - German Miss Marples. She’s a terrier on the trail of murder in sensuous, warm Sicily. She’s as tasty as Sicily itself. She begins her days with a ‘revivifying Prosecco’, and often continues them with other stronger refreshments. Except when she’s on the case - except for another prosecco or two, because prosecco really isn’t a ‘drink’. I cannot think of another such amusing protagonist in the field of whodunits.

Review:Fat Girl is about Claire Sterling, who admits she's a "fat girl", I personally really dislike that word, and any type of body shaming, but I went into this with an open mind and I'm so glad I did. K.L Montgomery did an amazing job writing this book! 5 stars!!
Claire Sterling is turning 40, and struggling with the aftermath of her divorce and she is back on the dating scene. The book follows her throughout the following year, as she decides to do a "reinvention" of herself. She decides she... Read more
Review:Shannon meets Declan in the bathroom of her last mystery shop with her hands down the toilet. What better way to meet a super hot guy, right? This book will have you laughing before you finish the first chapter. I love Shannon's mother, best friend & especially her cat. They make this series even more funny. This book is just the beginning and so worth reading & you will be excited to read the next book. Read more
Review:Chuck Palahniuk certainly has a style of his own. Dark, twisted and a little irreverent but so clever and creative. This story is bizarre but a fun and funny read. Sharp dialogue. Engaging from page one. You get little glimpses of what's coming, like the next impending train wreck. I found it hard to put down. This was the first book I've read of his, but have purchased more.
