Mostly I liked the story. There were parts I couldn't understand, but I skipped over them and didn't lose anything by doing so.

The alpha male doesn't come much stronger and the submissive doesn't come much more compliant. But as I said I liked the story, it didn't just focus on their sex life. The italics used for emphasis was pretty cute, though the one word sentences got a bit old. My recommendation is to read this and ignore the editing. It's easy to do and you will enjoy yourself.

Knight is titled from the main character Knight Sebring, a man born from sad circumstances and made to grow up too soon. A man who has succeeded financially in a career of questionable ilk, using common sense, deceit, and muscle.

Anya Gage was born into a loving stable family and tragedy struck at an early age in which she had to learn to work and work hard toward her dreams. Doubtful her dreams ever included the ultimate alpha male Knight. Can Anya break away from the only way of life she knows, flea market finds, second hand clothing, and financially supporting herself for Knight who wants to control what she wears, when she works, and how she lives? And can she handle how he truly makes a living and gets what he wants?

I have to admit some of Knight's mannerisms and vocabulary at times had me rolling my eyes. Additionally, I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Yet it was a cute story and I struggled on my rating, I would say a firm 3.5. This is my first Kristen Ashley book and definately look forward to reading other series by her.

(This is my actual Goodreads review.)

Strong story-line, very 50 shades. The end kind of fizzled for me. I love dramatic and angsty romance novels and this had a hint of that peppered throughout, but not enough for me to get emotionally invested.

I read most of the reviews before I finally decided to read this book. For me, it was FAR better than I expected. Yes, Knight is domineering and that is the point! The issues with his lifestyle and work that so many reviewers had a problem with are what made this story actually all the more interesting. Also, other reviewers found Anya to be portrayed as weak, but I think she was very authentic to herself and her needs. I found this to be a very sexy page turner and I will read it again.

I was hesitant to read this series after rock chicks and the other amazing series' Ms. Ashley has published, but WOW! I was so so wrong to hesitate! They are my new favorite series by KA! These books, especially this one in particular, need LOTS more recognition and promoting! LOVED Knight!

I actually love the story. But it did take time to understand how Knight Sebring talks or at least his dialogue. But to read a love story from beginning to end with out all of the BS drama was interesting to say the least. Boy meets girl, boy and girl likes each other, boy dates girl(with some crazy rules), girl falls in love with boy. Boy falls in love with girl add a few minor hiccups but they live happily ever after. THE END (Cute with some erotic sex but not too bad)

After I read the beginning of "Knight", I was actually going to give this book up. This is my first time reading this author. I did not like the over description of a room or items. After having to read about L-shapes and rooms and walls and colors...I thought is the author ever going to get to the point. But I kept telling myself, try one more chapter, it'll probably get better.

Then Knight is introduced.

His words were just...I can't even describe. He spoke in so little words(And I mean little). I kept having to re-read a lot of parts especially in the beginning of "Knight because he seemed to be the only one to understand what the hell he was talking about. If Anya thought she was confused, I was more so. I didn't get this guy's deal. He spoke like a thug, ordering Anya around and his "Yo's". He just was- at first a little frustrating in the beginning of his story. then after I kept reading I though he was a mob boss or something sinister. I couldn't put my finger on it.

Anya was a good girl. She had issues and not the easiest life but she made best of it. And I applaud her for trying to be an independent woman (This is before Knight encompassed her life).

But if you're still reading my review, you probably noticed I kept reading "Knight" because, the book is good. The love story between Knight and Anya was pretty good.

Now I know Knight loves control, being in it and doing it. I also liked the way he shared his life story. I appreciated him at the end of this story. Knight is a twenty first century caveman. He might not be every woman's cup of tea...but he was Anya's. And he treated her like a damn queen. (And thanks for the epilogue... :)this will keep Knight on his toes for years to come)

So will I read the next book in the series? Most likely. I would have given "Knight" five stars but I still felt the over descriptions could be edited down, at times. It's distracting from the story.

I would recommend this book who felt like giving up on Knight in the beginning. The story is worth it.

yes. read it. this is erotica. this is an incredibly good read and i am only 1/2 way done. i like the harder, edgier guy who doesn't cry or doesn't chuckle or pine away. this guy is no holds bar serious. he has issues. forget the naysayers. if you are into this genre, seriously into it but want a good story, with flawed characters, then this is it for you. i like cherise sinclair, i like laurann donner. but this author created something more. read it.

Great story of love and learning to accept that good things can happen. When Anya meets Knight at a party she's not so impressed by his sorry attitude but he is sure one great looking piece of eye candy. Knight is not only handsome but very mysterious and he has his sights set on Anya. Will she be able to give in to his dark desires and still love him once she learns all his secrets. This story was sexy and sweet and just crazy at times. But I really enjoyed their story. The characters were well developed and added a lot to the story. Highly recommend.

This was a more erotically flavoured KA book and I think that is important to understand before going into Knight (this is explained in KA's Author's Note). The eroticism felt like a natural progression in KA Land. The sexy times in her romance being what they are (well written, hot, exciting, pant-worthy), I felt like she could really nail it taking that step further.

Anya was the perfect sort of heroine - I identified with her from the very beginning. She was unassuming and sweet. She'd been dealt a pretty rough hand throughout her life and worked hard to get out of that. She didn't expect handouts or a free ride. I liked all of this about her because it proved that she had a strong sense of self. And I loved that she didn't whinge or create drama. And she accepted Knight for who he was.

Knight is rough around the edges, mysterious and extremely alpha... what you see is what you get. I LOVED that about him. Unapologetic, demanding, HOT. And the feelings he had for Anya were just divine. Even with the intensity and controlling behaviour, you could so see the magic there. And I loved everything about it.

Knight was addictive, consuming, stunning and BRILLIANT.

I heard about this book in a review for another book, about it having a TRUE dominate alpha male (Knight) in it. OMG!!!! So I read Knight. In ONE DAY!! I could not put it down. I loved the story and WOW, the Hot, Dirty talking, steamy sex scenes!! If u like True alpha males that don't take s*** and like it rough, you'll love this book!

I have read a lot, but not all of KA's books and I love her alpha hot men. But Knight, zooey momma! He was top of the heap of BA's. I loved that she took a turn with this book. I really like her heroes. They do not mess around. When they know that the h is his they don't hem and ha about it. They go in and claim! Knight was this to the extreme! Good job KA! Can't wait for the next book in this series!

It is such a rare find when an erotic romance can offer the double-whammy of an outrageously controlling and unapologetic alpha-dog, and a willing heroine who is not remotely bratty, and who falls into his ways so seamlessly as to have been born to it. And when one comes across such a gem, one wants to shout it to the world.

I LOVED the character of Knight. I think he is the fantasy of many women--strong, controlling, unapologetic, and completely up-front about it all. That he is a good guy in terms of his ability to care for, protect and provide for Anya, despite the many ways in which one might judge that he is NOT good, is both a gift and a curse. The author blends the yin and yang of Knight in a way that is not contradictory, as we see in so many novels in this genre/sub-genre. How many times have we come across a hero who is tough, strong, and take charge one minute, then the minute his feelings get hurt he's calling her a bitch and storming out the door, only to apologize later. Good or bad, I loved Knight's unwavering love for Anya and his uncompromising ideas on what she will and won't do as 'his woman'. Not once did he put her down, humiliate, lie to, or harm her in any way--and the reader knows he is capable of it. In Anya he sees a strong woman who has had to overcome extreme obstacles, and he wants to end that for her, do for her, care for her. That he adores her is simply icing on the cake, and Anya isn't terribly put out by repaying his generosity with a little obedience. He has a hard past of his own, and he understands good days and bad days. It is oddly refreshing to have a character be this sure of himself, like it or not.

Anya is unsure at first about this man who keeps showing up to make her life safer and easier. She sees that rough side, but soon realizes she has nothing to fear from him. That is intoxicating. That she is grateful for every little thing he does for her is so refreshing. How easy it would have been for the author to fall into that trap of creating the bratty or overly feisty heroine so we can be treated to some spanking scenes--or worse, Knights bad side. Instead, Kristen Ashley creates in Anya a very believable heroine who is just trying to get by, is smart enough to see the good in Knight and opens herself up to him (and in turn, opens HIM up) without the constant fight for the upper hand. She knows she won't get it with him, and in order to be with him, she has to allow herself to give in. In giving him this gift of control, Anya becomes the person who turns this man's life around. Amazing.

The sex is very HOT and varied, which I loved. For me, personally, I'd liked to have seen a bit more spanking...but that's me. LOL!

I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 because the book was in desperate need of a good editor. The long running sentences, followed closely by the grammatically incorrect ones that caused me to re-read passages several times in order to get the point, took me out of the story quite a bit. A good editor would have also cautioned the author to use less 'street' language. While that 'voice' can be stylish, too much becomes distracting. There's a balance, and it was not achieved here. The use of first person POV (Anya's) was also a good idea, but sadly, the author fell into '50 Shades-Speak' with the incessant 'oh mys', 'oh-my-gods' and the million times Anya had to remind us that she was into him. These are easy habits to fall into in 1st person POV, but not advisable ones. This author has 30+ books out. Since this issue has been noted in reviews of her other books, now might be the time to invest in a pro.

Overall, I hope this will not deter anyone from picking up this book, especially if you love that unapologetic (I wouldn't even call him anti-) hero who loves like there's no tomorrow.

Knight is the first book from this author I've read, but it won't be the last. I was leery of getting it because the reviews were so mixed. But I got that there are some shades of grey with Knight, but Anya was not a pushover or TSTL She had some decisions to make, but she didn't deny her nature. Given they way Knight worked things, I could deal with it and am glad I read it. I read the excerpt from Rain and I would read that before Creed. Great to find such engaging characters.

Ok... Ok... Ok.... am I a total kink monster or what...If only my husband knew!!! This book was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!!! I love everything KA does and knew I wouldn't be disappointed with this new series!!! I was squeeeing at how Knight would just take it upon himself to do stuff that would make Anya's life better... the apartment building, the neighbor, the phone... wowza... take charge kinda guy... Love that!!! Of course I didn't really like all the bossiness... but you can't have an alpha dom without it... for me, I probably would've told that boy off a few times... especially if it meant a couple smacks on the a$$!!!!

Anya and her friends make you feel like your out with them... "out with the girls!" They're funny, attractive, caring, protective, and all around the kinda gals you'll wanna have surrounding you... well, at least Viv!!!

Great sex scenes, awesome humor, but for me one thing was lacking... Anya never really told Knight "NO"... I like those parts in books when the hero and heroine butt heads on something.. like the sex... then they part ways (temporarily) and the dude bends ever so slightly to get his woman back... I felt this story missed that a bit!! Still a great read... oh yeah, and one more thing... this isn't as long as a typical KA book... missed that too!!!!

4.5 Stars

I'm so over reading books that are clearly not a 4-5 star book, it makes me wonder if I'm actually reading the same book as everyone else - especially when there are clear editing issues and incorrect grammar. By the end I was questioning my education and my ability to constructed a sentence correctly. Also, even though this book is written from Anya's point of view there are a couple of line in one of the chapters that (what I felt) delivers from Knight's point of view.

Overall I didn't like the story line, didn't enjoy the dialogue, didn't feel a connection with the characters.

After reading reviews, I started the book with mixed emotions. It was definitely racier than the other Kristen Ashley books that I have read, but was forewarned in the intro.

The hero also isn't one of Kristen Ashley's typical badasses. But after completing the book I had a new outlook on life's many colorful characters. I dont agree nor disagree with Knight's life choices...who are we to judge what people do...

If this is your first Kristen Ashley book, I suggest starting with a different series...Rock Chick especially.

Short and sweet review. I love This Author, her books feel real, her characters like you can meet them on the street. Her Males? Hot gritty Alphas. Every girls dream. So if you want a book you can fantasize about. This is for you. Loved it. A very enjoyable read. Read it in one day it was so good. These are the types of books you read while taking a break from motherhood and wifehood and just take some time for you.

I just inhaled this book-should have slowed down! I hated to part with these characters! It was so good I finished it in one setting. I really liked the characters and loved the fact that Knight was not a "goodie-two-shoes" kind of guy. This hero had a great edge. I really get tired of romance heroes being so squeaky clean and good which is mostly unbelievable anyway. A really great, read with a wonderful hot bad boy and a down to earth-heroine. This book will be on my RE-read list right up there near the top.

I liked the book. The writing was great. I only gave it 3 stars because I felt that the book was too similar to everything that's out there. The domineering guy that wants total control over the lead female in the book. I would have liked it more if Knight wasn't such a control freak.

I enjoy KA books I feel she is sending us a small message about women, that inner beauty is more important then outer.

I love this story. Knight is a "Knight" in many ways . Big time Alpha, Protector, Strong, perfect alpha. I get him. I see the whys to his personality, and it makes sense. Anya, is soft, sweet, smart, and perfect for Knight. I loved how they hooked up, from Anyas pov.
Erotic, hot, hot, hot. Only thing, I wanted more.
It was mentioned that Knight was an anti hero. I don't know about that. After I got what he was doing an why, I would say he was a Hero.

I am almost speechless! Damn, I liked this book. I didn't know I'd like an "anti-hero" - but I DO! I woke up during the night and started reading again - couldn't wait to get back into Knight's world. Oh my, what a world. Can a person be jealous of a fictional character such as Anya?
The answer is: Yes they can!

Let's see what did I love: I loved the description of Knight especially the initial description with him in the overcoat. I loved Knight's name. I loved the fact that Anya did not have this perfect body, she had a "budda belly", I got one too (there is hope, I am "embracing my budda", thanks Ms.Ashley)
I loved the love scenes, very well written. I read them with a bowl of ice on my night stand, the author knows how to write a love scene - my, my, my.

I loved the first kiss (where's my ice...) - loved the ending. He might be an unfinished hero, have mercy if he is ever complete!

Buy this book. That's just all I can say. It is too overwhelming to try and tell y'all how good this is.

How much did I hate this book when I first read it?
Holy Moly. The characters were freaky--he is, like, a TOTAL control kind of guy and she seemed to be just a little to tries-too-hard-to-blend-in with her whisper-like "yeah" responses.
I finished it on a Friday night with a Thankful Sigh.
But, truthfully, I can't get this FREAKING storyline out of my head. I have re-read this book three times already in less than a week and have, at long last, discovered/revealed/admitted that I want/desire/need myself a Knight.
Disturbing storyline? Uh-huh.
Intriguing characters? You betcha.
I really hated this book.
Okay, truthfully? My eyes were glued to every page on my Kindle as I read. My eyes were caught, like a deer in the headlights, on every word of every page.
This is so NOT my scene. And,yet, I couldn't get it out of my mind (but it still kind of resides there, days later). Did I already say that?
Viv really grounds the experiences of Anya and helps me to explain my fascination with the story line of 'Knight'. Explaining that it is not about control or pain but about trust and the relationship; which my head and heart are starting to really understand or in the words of the author, "get".
This is an amazing book that hooks you with it's verbiage--not verbiage or even a storyline that is the accepted 'norm'--but a tale with syntax that you can 'hear' in your heart and head. It is a story that never lets you go from start to finish.
You root for the characters, both Knight and Anya (geez, even Anya's friends and Knight's employees!) and boo anything that gets into the path of fulfillment of them.
Too dirty? Yep, at first reading. But, as I think on it, I've read dirtier scenes that were not as thrilling. And I've never been a SDM (what's the other letter?)...can you tell that this genre is new to me? Whatever the abbreviations, I was/am intrigued.
Well done. So freaking well done.
It caught my interest...made me hate it, yet complete it. But I remember it, think on it...recommend it...aw geez, even loaned it.
This IS a book to read, devour and internalize.
Let's face it...Hate is just the on the other side of the Love coin.
Overall Rating: (out of 10) A solid 10
Heat Level: (out of 10) sizzles at a 15
Would I Want to Read this Author Again: Definite YES!
Would I Recommend: (out of 10) A Definite 15

This is different than the other series Kristen writes. It was darker and more erotic. So if you're looking for another series like the Rock Chick Series this isn't it. Saying that, I truly enjoyed this book for what it is. I enjoyed the relationship between Anya and Knight. Will definitely read the series. My only minus was them calling each other baby and Daddy in the bedroom.. Ew. I highly recommend.

rastapopolous
There are many "ick" factors in this book and more than a few other complaints, such as jerky writing style and repetition throughout that I guess serves as filler. Other reviewers have already mentioned the yuckiness of Anya calling Knight "Daddy" during sex (when she does whatever he demands of her, which produces earth-shattering orgasms). She frequently whispers when she's in distress, which is annoying. Also, the hero has a habit of repeating his dialogue unnecessarily.

I liked Motorcycle Man, which is why I bought this book; I didn't realize KA writes essentially the same male character over and over again. This habit of speaking in staccato sentences is both annoying and unrealistic. Who talks like that. Advice, KA: readers get tired of the same old thing. Won't continue to buy your books if you write the same one again and again. Happens again? Will stop reading. See what I mean?

I kind of understood his rationale for being a so-called pimp. His mom suffered by working the streets; he runs a classier operation. If he got out of the business, if Anya insisted he do so, he'd be just fine, but he'd have to fire his group of henchmen and all the girls would still be working but without his protection. Oldest profession in the world is going to find a way to happen.

This book isn't worth bothering with.

I loved this book. It was the same idea as 50 shades of grey but at the same time totally different. The only part that got to me was how the dialect was often confusing but it didn't at all make me regret buying this book!

All of Kristen Ashley's books are a delight. The sex is sexy, the men are sexy, the women are sexy. And yet, all of KA's characters have flaws; they're not annoyingly perfect. Readers can easily imagine themselves as a leading lady or being pursued by a slightly dangerous but hunky man. Sure, the plots and characters feel a bit formulaic after you've read a lot of them...but they're formulaic the way chicken soup is when you have a cold or ugly sweatpants are after a hard day at work. They make you feel comfortable and happy. And the price of these books is right! Keep 'em coming.

This is my twelfth KA novel and my favorite so far. KA has created a very distinct chest-pounding-alpha-male mold, and it's one she uses over and over in all her stories. Knight is born from this mold, but he comes wielding a spanking hand and strap. This is not BDSM--the strap is the extent of the play--but there is a hint at D/s in attitude and conversations which makes Knight stand apart from the KA alpha template. I want to give this five stars, but the profusion of vexing writing habits is impossible to ignore...a few examples: unneeded paragraph breaks (Oh my. New line. Oh God. New line. Oh. My. God.), odd hewing dialogue (I can hear the men grunting out every syllable), and the narrator too often tells what the dialogue shows. I wouldn't normally point out technical no-no's, but KA is such a great storyteller, and these weary and too frequent irritants are what keeps me from reading her books back to back. Nevertheless, I will continue with this series, anticipating another KA overbearing man with too-hot-to-be-lawful looks.

This book and series is way out of the norm for Kristen Ashley but as always she does not disappoint. If you are not into intense sex scenes do not read. This is an unlikely love story between Knight and Anya but the way it develops thruout the book is amazing and how they end up accepting eachother is beautiful. I highly recommended great interesting read.

Knight was absolutely amazing... The love between him and Anya is absolutely beautiful and the ummm, intimate part of their relationship is so hot you will feel tingles in special places for days after reading it. Then it's all about what he says, how he says it, and most of all what Anya calls him...

Knight obviously is not a "typical" KA hero in the fact that he is a BAD BOY PROFESSIONALLY..... But he still has that KA alpha flare that leaves you wanting more. His relationship with Anya is special in a way that he is protective of what she is exposed to, he wants her happy, he wants to provide for her, and most of all her love for him is completely cherished.

I am so proud of Kristen for taking this journey and can not wait for more of the Unfinished Hero Series to be released.

If you like a lot of good sex scenes, then you'll like this book. BUT ... I found the dialogue to be kind of stupid. If he's smart enough to overcome his childhood and run a very successful business, he should be able to talk intelligently. His stupid, and sometimes unnecessarily offensive communication style decreased his alpha factor. I know the author wanted to communicate his 'anti' qualities, but she made him sound like a caveman. The heroine sounded less like a woman in love and more like a women who was looking for an identity and found it in a controlling man. The book needed more refinement in spite of the anti hero premise. Both characters needed more dignity to honor what they had been through and overcome. The book was average. But it could have been great with a few adjustments. I think the author was more interested in selling sex than in selling a really good story.

This book reminded me a lot of fifty shades of gray. While it did not have the extreme s&m in it like fifty, there was definitely a dominance/ submissive relationship.

The book is about a girl Anya who lost her folks when she was seven and how that shaped her in to the person she is.which is nice, always putting others in front of her, unable to receive a complement, and unable to receive a gift from anyone.

Knight is a shrewd business man who was delt a rough life. He overcomes his challenges by maintaining control in his life. He is successful and can provide Anya with whatever she wants ( not that she would dare ask for anything).Unfortunately between his brother Nike and Anya's friend he seems to have trouble maintaining his control at all times.

I will say this book isn't as great as fifty shades, some parts seemed hushed and didn't really allow the storyline to evolve. However, it is a good book and if you liked fifty shades at all you will like this book. So give it a shot and I hope you like it!

Let me just clarify, I LOVE Kristen Ashely. Her Motorcycle Man and Sweet Dreams are two of my new favorite books, with two of my new favorite heroes. So when I picked Knight, I was totally prepared for love again. This so did not happen. At first, I was loving Knight, I know he was uber-controlling, but what Ashely hero isn't. I know what kind of heroes she writes about. But this time she took the control factor too far. I gotta say, this whole submissive/dominant trend is getting tiresome. I don't get it, but to each his own. Although I would have preferred a heads up of some sort.
If the submissive/dominant thing would have been my only complaint, then I would have give this book 3 stars, but it was not. SPOILER ALERT*The final straw was that Knight was a pimp. I don't care what justifications Ashely used, nothing justifies a pimp hero. He had 50 something girls working for him. I am sorry but this is NOT ok.
I really hope this is not the start of Ashley buying into the submissive/dominant trend. Truly, because I am looking forward to her future projects.

Spoilers

knight was a sexy alpha male who kept me smiling throughout the entire book until the end when I found out he was a pimp and had a stable of 53 "bitches."

I got really sick of his filthy mouth.

At first I thought Anya was a girl who knew what she wanted and that was Knight and his lifestyle but then she found out he was a pump and acted like it was no big deal. He also hates holidays and refuses to let her celebrate any of them. He also owns her so will not marry her.

She should have left him but she stayed because he was a nice pimp and she loved him. (Eye roll.)

This story line was mediocre at best. The way Knight spoke...couldn't stand it. He portrayed someone who was successful, established, and independent, yet his vocabulary was almost embarrassing to to read. I thought it wouldn't be that way through the entire book, but it was, and I felt less intelligent after having read the entire book.

I first read this in 2014 and I didn't like Knight as much as I did Creed and Raid, mainly because I kept giggling at the whole "baby-Daddy" thing. I didn't find it sexy at all, I found it funny instead. Well, 2014!Lisa was not into the daddy kink but 2017!Lisa has a new appreciation for it.

Still not the greatest KA, but I enjoyed it a bit more than I did the first time.

At first, I thought I hated this book because of the narrator (was reading and listening to it on Audible too). She is actually a good narrator just not for this book. She sounds like a young teenager and reads like a teenager. I kept expecting a "Golly Gee" out of her any minute. "F**k Me" just sounded wrong coming out of her mouth. Speaking of "F**k Me", I would be a rich woman if I had a dollar for every time that and "Oh God" or "Oh My God" are said in this book. Excuse me it is OH. GOD. or OH. MY. GOD.

As far as story goes, it is only a 100 page book because the other 200 something pages are spent in useless dialogue describing his apartment furniture, her furniture, how poor she is, or how rich he is etc... Someone asks a question then three pages later, after loads of non essential descriptions or explanations, you get an answer. Forget the readers forgetting the question, three, four pages later, the character forgets it too.

Granted I am from the South, so maybe some of the slang is popular in other areas of the world but it didn't flow to me, it was like Ms. Ashley was trying to be cool. Knight's "boy", Kurt (the Hulk) always saying "Yo" in greeting to Anya seems a little disrespectful too. Knight always asking her if she liked the way he "did" her was a great turn off along with her saying she liked the way he "did" her and I am sorry, I just can't see ANY WOMAN asking a man, "Do you sell pussy?" Her calling him "Daddy" also drove me up the wall! But the best line of all, Knight telling Anya, "Prepare yourself for me". He didn't mean it like you are thinking but for Anya to prepare herself for her Lord and Master to rock her world. No rocking for me!

I only finished it because it had some five star reviews and I figured it had to be redeemed at some point in time. Nope it was never redeemed and I am mad at myself for wasting all that time reading it. It is definitely going back for a refund.

This book was recommended to me, and despite pausing in disbelief a few times, I read it all the way through to the end before forming an opinion. While I wasn't into the use of 'Daddy' in the sex, that wasn't what killed it for me. It was Knight's CONSTANT use of the term 'bitches' to refer to all women, and his lack of respect for any woman, even the heroine (whose name escapes me). I also thought she went from genuinely thinking Knight was scary and alarming, to calling him honey and sweetheart in the space of one conversation which was lazy writing. It didn't seem like there was any development to their relationship. It just went from him deciding he wanted to own her, and her deciding she was his and then cue the repetitive sex scenes that felt devoid of emotion or intimacy. Add that to the revelation about how Knight REALLY makes his money and I'm left shaking my head.

The author gave a warning before reading this book, and I chose to waive the warning because I love her books so much. However, I wish I hadn't. Kristen Ashley is my favorite author because her storytelling pulls me in and sweeps me away. Her books come to life for me. I've never read about control / dominant / submissive relationships before. The whole thought of it, and the anti-hero brought great distaste and a very sick feeling to me. But, I pulled my way through the book hoping for what I would call a happy ending. Well, for me there was not a happy ending. Just another very helpless victim brought into the story. If you are into what I guess the genre is called BDSM you will probably enjoy this read. Because this author is a wonderful storyteller. However, this was Not a Good Read for me. I will be more careful to take the authors warnings.

What can I say, I love anything Kristen Ashley writes! I read some reviews of this, which I normally don't before I read a book, and read some readers were bothered by Knight wanting Anya to call him Daddy. It was a little bizarre but kind of a turn on just because it was borderline taboo, and I like taboo!

Just finished Knight. It was a hyped up shit storm on Facebook yesterday. My review will be a contradiction since I posted how amazing it was...then i continued on, therefore, I will start with positive, great story that I could not put down. This was very bizarre to me and would welcome comments. What was with the writing ? This book is suppose to be based in Denver, Colorado but yet slang is voluminous that I had to keep re-reading lines and paragraphs (Spoilers Ahead); I get that Knight had some tough shit growing up and going on currently, but if you own the posh nightclub on Denver, you have some class. Christian is a great example, he never referred to Ana a bitch or his bitch. The daddy thing I figured out was not a " father" reference...my take because of all the slang being used was more like "Who's Your Daddy". This is the first book, I say the very first book that I did not fall for the leading man. The way this is written, he is not likable at all, matter of fact, if there was class and no slang, you would have fallen for him. If all her books are written in this fashion, I will steer clear of her books.

Gotta love Kristen Ashley. I am new into her stories and I am forever grateful to my sister for introducing them to me. Dream Man Series, Colorado Mountain Man, The Burg, and now The Unfinished Heros. You go Kristen, I cant wait for more to come. This I all said before with Creed and still mean it with KNIGHT. Love It!!!

I'm a huge KA fan and when I heard she was going to write in the erotic/adult romance genre I was beside myself with anticipation. I knew KA would pull off the anti hero type character because she writes Alpha characters so well.

I won't go into detail about the book because others have done that and they do it so much better.

What I will say was this book was worth waiting for! It was hot. It was a love story. Knight was as hot as hell. Anya was nuturing, beautiful and a wonderful soul who was just perfect for Knight.

Their story is something wonderful and I urge you all to stop reading this review and get onto this amazing book.

Well done KA - you've nailed this!

I've read a fair amount of romance/erotic romance. I love this hero. I hate this hero. I love the heroine. I wish she hadn't made a specific decision. It isn't often a book captures my brain and my hormones. The author's note is accurate. The book isn't for the faint of heart. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Not happy that I bought this book and I opened it and read the contents of the harshness written in this book. Didn't read any part of this book. I've been abused in many ways by males and learning this books contents after I bought it didn't sit well with me. Won't be reading anymore of this authors either. Hope this is helpful to you.

I'll preface my review by saying that I've been on a Kristen Ashley binge since the first of the year. Every single book I've read thus far has been sheer delight and brought many hours of unforgettable stories and characters.

That being said, "Knight" was disappointing and not up-to-par in regards to KA's other books in my opinion. Yes, he was handsome and sexy and generous in many ways, but he fell short on my scale for best leading male characters. His story did indeed take us to another realm. For some, I know this was a perfect and welcomed journey. For me, too often that "ick" factor raised its ugly head causing too many uncomfortable feelings. Knight wasn't a character I could respect and I didn't like him very much at all. I do love the name "Knight Sebring" that KA bestowed upon this anti-hero.

I didn't really connect with Anya either. She presented a strong and admirable impression at first. I felt she gave up her best personality traits to become a doormat for Knight. I rather enjoyed when she stood her ground and questioned his aggressiveness. But that, too, ended resulting in the loss of respect for her character as well. Her character presentation didn't balance in my mind.

My major complaints were with the "daddy" nickname that absolutely did not work for me. Pain does not in any way equal love or romance in my mind. Neither does one person giving all the orders while the other follows without question. Sex for the sake of filling pages doesn't work well for me either. An overuse of the "F" and "C" words turns my stomach and loses any emphasis they may otherwise possess. Quality over quantity in most areas keeps me a perfectly happy and satisfied reader. I never felt a sense of overwhelming love and commitment between Knight and Anya. Somehow their relationship felt cold and harsh.

There were a number of editing errors in this book. Too many wrong word slips and minor spelling misses were plentiful irritants. Editing staff needs a heads up.

As with every author's work, I admire the decisions to write the stories they need and want to tell. And I also understand fully that you can't please all the people all the time. I'm eagerly awaiting Kristen Ashley's "Motorcycle Man" and all other stories she sends our way. She's a magnificent storyteller and still at the top of my favorite authors list.

I liked the book just found the story line different from what I read. I liked the two main characters: Anya and knight.
Their differences makes them a good couple. The only thing I found a little disturbing, it's that knight wants Anya to call him "Daddy". All in all was an interesting read.

I loved this story. She really did an excellent job with describing in detail their emotions. I can actually see them whole reading their story. I love that. Knight is a big scary, sexy, hot alpha male wet dream. This is a must read for all even men would like this story.

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with this book. After reading The Gamble and Sweet Dreams, I decided to give Knight a go. It was a quick read,..not as long as her other books. When I finished it left me feeling sort of indifferent. There were some parts I liked and some parts I could have defiantly done without (like the over use of curse words and the term "Daddy"). The two main characters were okay. I did not feel such a big connection with them as I had with other characters from Kristen Ashley's other books. I am curious try out the 2nd book in the Unfinished Heroes Series to see much how different it is from Knight...hopefully it will be. I enjoyed Kristen Ashley's other series more (The 'Burg Series, Dream Man, and the Colorado Mountain Series). She writes about good strong characters and as far as I have read, her books usually have a HEA at the end which I love.

This book came out this morning. Kristen was working on it on her vacation and all her loyal fans appreciate her hard work. Oh, and it's her birthday today. (Happy Birthday, Gurl!) I've read the reviews and I'm sure you will too. So I won't give a run down of the book, you can look to the "One Stars" for the spoilers. What I will do is give you the heads up. This is a really good book. If you aren't into erotica or a little (very little) S&AM, keep moving. If you like either just a little bit, read the book. Kristen writes love stories about people who have some what jacked up lives. Let's be honest not everyone has had a perfect life, more importantly who wants to read about a perfect girl getting the perfect guy with the perfect ending. What you need to know when reading one of Kristen's books is that this is someone's perfect with imperfections. The female isn't always strong and the guy isn't always wonderful but they are strong and wonderful to each other. They are perfect for each other. And you as the reader get to see a little piece of someone's perfect with all it's imperfections.

I've read a lot of Kristen's books. I like some more than others. As a writer she is young and learning. She tries new things and this is definitely new. I liked it. I think she is good at what she does and she just keeps getting better. I hope you take the time to read this book. It's shorter than her other books but still a great read.

First of all if you have read any of her other books like Sweet Dreamsor Law Man (Dream Man Series) you know her hero's have a edge.. Knight is no different.. and I love that he is DARKER then any of the other books that i have read by her.. not everyone is "good" or has the right job..

LOVED LOVED LOVED this book, Knight is smokin hot, Anya is swept off her feet by him, but still doesn't take what he has for granted.. I found this book by mistake and i can't say that i was sorry.. I also can't wait for more of this series!!

Oh.
My.
God.

What is this crap i just read? (and btw, the way i wrote Oh.My.God is the EXACT way she writes it DOZENS of times in this book, I kid you not). This whole book was horrible. Not a single redeeming quality. I didn't think it was possible for a book to be worse than 50 Shades. But Kristen Ashley did it. If you are into books like this, may i suggest you just skip the reading and just head to a porn site? I'm not into this at all, but most of the time I'm like "FREE book? Especially since ebooks now are taxed. so free book? I'm with it." From the fake guido accent or whatever that was supposed to be to the "don't dance, don't go anywhere without my goons, lay down spread eagle, coz i'm the man and i may be a pimping scumbag and i may have people beaten and murdered, but if you do what i say because you're sex-crazed then it's your own fault and besides, i decided i like the way you look and you're poor so i want you, so do EXACTLY as I say whenever i say and i'll buy you fancy sh*t." Yup typical insert weak female lead type book. Because if it were me, some dude i don't even know bossing me around, talking to me like I'm a hooker, I would have PROMPTLY told him to go eff himself and continue leading my HONEST life. Sorry it may be bizarre of me, but I've never let my vagina dictate my life.

This book was disgusting crap. And I'm an adult. 31 to be exact. So sex scenes don't offend me. Language doesn't offend me. Violence doesn't offend me (let me clarify: these things in books don't offend me haha). I would be ashamed to put my name on offal like this. I don't think I've ever written such a harsh review. But this was just awful.

Like someone else mentioned, I was not a fan of the use of the word Daddy in this book, but still- this book was hot and I loved the heck out of it. There was some confusing dialogue, but it was most because of the jargon used by the main characters- once I surmised what they were saying, I didn't have any further issues.

I read this book over a month ago, and I still think about it. The female is smart and sensible. What a an amazing thing to find in a romance (erotic or otherwise) novel! I love that the male doesn't need to be rescued or saved. He isn't damaged and broken. He is an actual bad boy, and he doesn't apologize for it. Hot!! READ THIS BOOK! You will loooove it!

Wow!! I really need to find a man like Knight. He is hot with a slightly shady side that makes him even yummier. I loved seeing how the relationship between the two main characters grew and changed. How he softened as he opened his heart without losing any of his masculinity. The sex is HOT and interesting (though I could have done without her calling him Daddy all the time) without being overdone. If you like the men in Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick series, you'll love Knight.

As the author notes at the beginning of the book, this is not your typical romance novel or "alpha" male hero. Knight, as in Knight Sebring, is a bad boy. He does bad things, he doesn't care what other people think and he isn't pleased when he arrives at his condo one evening to find his loser brother having wild party. Anya isn't a big fan of the party either and is ready to leave despite the fact that her friend wants to stay. Knight ends of giving Anya a ride...and off we go!

A coworker recommended this book to me and I'll admit the cover was a bit off-putting. Don't let that stop you from downloading it! Yes, Knight is not a good guy, but he's loyal and good to the people in his inner circle - which is quite small. The relationship is unconventional, but HOT. The whole scenario totally worked for me. Anya was a strong character, but not too hard and Knight was scorching.

My one complaint? I had a bit of trouble accepting that he likes to be called "Daddy." Blech. That is not my cup of tea, but I just ignored it for the most part. If you like anti-heroes, alpha males, men who know what they want and aren't afraid to go after it...then this is the book for you. I was sad when it was over.

I loved most of Kristen Ashley's other series, Rock Chick, Dream Man, etc...however, this was not the book for me. I barely got through it...I'd like to think I'm pretty open minded, but could find little that was endearing or attractive about Knight's character. He was a bit too crass and controlling for me. And I was not at all a fan of the whole 'daddy' thing. Don't waste your time or money...unfortunately I am such a fan of Kristen Ashley's other books, I had bought the entire 'Unfinished Heros' before reading the first book, and am afraid I wasted my money. If you haven't read the Rock Chick or Dream Man series, don't hesitate! I would highly recommend both series...but proceed with this series with caution.

I have never been so happy about the store recommendations as I am after reading both books in the Unfinished Hero series.
I LOVE bad boys, and Knight Sebring ahhhh. He is so intense, sweet, powerful. I could not get enough of him. He has this whole persona he doesn't take any shit off anyone, bossy, but then he can say some of the most amazing things I have ever read.
I'm not good with explaining without rambling. I just wanted to give this amazing book 5 stars because it is so worthy of it. I cannot wait for more stories in this series. They are different from other characters i've read about, and it's wonderful. I love it.

I gave this book 3 stars because I liked the actual story, however I hated the dialogue. It was hard for to understand what Knight was saying most of the time, he seemed as if he spoke in broken English or half sentences. Maybe Knight's type of dialogue is popular with some people, but I just didn't get it. I feel as if this book could have been 5 stars for me if the language was easier to understand. The story line was great, typical nice girl meets bad boy. Just one other complaint I had, is that Anya, the female protagonist was ALWAYS the one to bend to Knight. It was ALWAYS about what Knight wanted and compromise was ALWAYS his way. Overall, I liked this story. Will I read it again? No. Would I recommend it? Possibly, but only after I warned them about the dialogue.

I am a Kristen Ashley fan and this may be one of my top 5 of her books. I love that the H is unapologetically who he is. He made no excuses and didn't offer to change his "evil ways" to make the h happy. He is not your typical hero by a long shot. But he does love the h and is good to her. BDSM is not my preferred genre and the whole "Daddy" thing was a little weird for me. But I can totally get past that because this guy was hot. Tack from Motorcycle Man is still my favorite of this author's heroes but Knight is running pretty darn close in this race.

So, let me start off by saying I am a huge Kristen Ashley fan, have read all of the Dream Man books, most of the Colorado Mountain series and am about to start the Chaos series and then will move on to the Rock Chick series. I think I read Kristen Ashley's books more than any other author, except for Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. I also know that KA has a very explicit warning that this book is darker than her other series and that the protagonist in the book is an anti-hero. I have also read Madeline Sheehan's series, "Undeniable", which definitely has anti-heroes and I loved that series. So, I say all of that to say that I thought Knight was good, well written, interesting characters, but I just don't like the whole dominance theme. To be fair to KA, I probably shouldn't have bought the book bc I already know this about myself. I don't like books with men who tell women when they can climax, what position to be in, how long to remain it that position; who tell you who you can go out with, how long you can stay, that you can't dance at a club, that puts a "man on you" to make sure you don't do the above mentioned things, and that "spank" you when you're "bad" and who, in my opinion, treat you like a child instead of the grown woman you are. I also really hate it when men want you to call them "Daddy", particularly during sex. So, since all of this occurred in Knight, I can only give it 3 stars.

I think that part of my issue with the dominance theme, which I know is very popular, is that I am afraid that it will "normalize" or desensitize readers about abusive relationships. While its true that Knight was never physically abusive toward Anya, many of the behaviors described in the book is the way that abusive relationships start off. When we romanticize dominance, how do vulnerable young women know where to draw the line? I see this problem all the time as a professional mental health provider and it is very easy for vulnerable young women to being seduced into equating these same behaviors with love, when it s not about love but control and power, which Knight readily admits. Similarly, just bc Knight was a "nice" pimp, he was still a pimp, and he still made money off of women selling their bodies, and I had a hard time accepting that Anya accepted this so readily. While one can argue about whether prostitution is the same as human trafficking, they both involve the exploitation of women.

so the bottom line for me is this: like KA says, this book isn't for everyone, and it wasn't for me. If you like themes of dominance and anti-heroes, you will probably love this book. If these things bother you, as they bother me, then maybe, like me, you should stick to the Dream Man and Colorado Mountain series, which is what I plan to do.

A first for me by this author and I really enjoyed it. Her writing style is different and it took me a little while to get used to this but that to me is with any new author you try. I loved the characters Anya and Knight. Knight is definitely swoonworthy:) He is handsome and sexy and loves everything about Anya! I loved the story that was told and the way it ended. I read it in 2 days which is a record for me lol. I know some people don't like or understand the control and BDSM stuff (which is mild in this book) and I myself don't understand all of it but if it's put into a great, romantic story where two people fall in love and there is a happy ending, I am all over it. It is not for everyone but a lifestyle that some people choose and essentially works for them. I am always looking for new authors, not afraid to try something new and I always read my books with an open mind in hopes that I will learn something from the story. I love reading and the escape from reality that it brings me for a while. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read her others!

**spoiler alert** Writing this really pains me. I have loved every KA book I have read so far, even the first Rock Chick, even Heaven and Hell, even Play it Safe. But this one, not so much.

I know KA said it was going to be different from the norm. Hotter. Anti-hero alpha instead of your typical hero alpha. (but seriously? Tack is an anti-hero, IMO. A pimp? Not so much) And she did that. This was different.

Sure, Knight had the same vibe all her other men have. To the Nth degree. I think he reminded me of Ty more than anyone else. A guy who wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. A man who calls women b*tches.

I didn't love it. I don't even know if I LIKED it. It felt soulless somehow. There was no buildup, there was one meeting, then "we're in a relationship". I just didn't feel the love between these two. He bought her stuff (which she said wasn't why she loved him), he told her what to do, and he sexed her good. That was it, the whole basis for the relationship. He only seemed to be into her because she wasn't after his money.

He had the whole control vibe down, but I don't feel it was ever clarified why he needed that control. Also, his job- KA said he was an anti-hero. To me, his job, no matter how nice he is to his woman, or how fairly he treats his girls, is not any kind of hero.

And the way Ana, sorry, Anya, just accepted everything he told her, was just too much for me.

Also, I'm getting REAL tired of the herO calling women "b*tches", and the way he kept calling it "my p***y" wasn't hot at all, it was just jerkish behavior.

With most Kristen Ashley books, you know you’re getting a hot, controlling antihero. You accept that her novels will be overlong, poorly edited, grammatically incorrect and have punctuation marks in the wrong places. But you read them - and enjoy reading them - because despite the issues, the lady can craft a helluva good story.

But having the heroine call her hero “Daddy” during sex? No. Not okay.

It happens so much, and so frequently, that it truly ruins the book. Check out Mystery Man or one of her other novels, but avoid this one.

The reading level of this book was 5th grade with cuss words and sex thrown in. The male protagonist: Richard Gere in Pretty Woman with little education and a broken moral compass. The female protagonist: an amalgam of Julia Robert's Vivian and "O" but without the class. Good grief.

I am a HUGE KA fan. This book did not read like it was a final copy of a KA book, it read to me like a rough draft.

My biggest gripe is the dialogue-namely, what dialogue? almost everything Knight said was a mini speech. I'm sure the author did it to convey a hardness about Knight but it just made him seem more of a street thug lackey than a high class thug who owns the streets. Knight is not the only one who is stilted, the heroine is busy saying incomplete sentences all the time or just acquiescing to everything with "softly spoken" okay. jeez.

My biggest problem was the ending. SPOILER ALERT. Why not marry her?? Anya gives SOOOOO MUCH to him but he can't give her marriage. i've re-read the last part where they get into Knight not believing in marriage but there's no reason for it at all. None.it's supposedly just who he is. HUH???

I would just read the review/summaries of this book and move on to "Creed" which is waaaaay better than this one and more in line with KA's other books.

After reading some reviews I was conflicted to read the book. Finally I took the time and read the first several chapters on KA's website. The story had promise so I finally gave in and purchased it.

From their first encounter it's obvious all he had to do was give a little push and she would give in to his demands. As soon as he sees her living conditions his protective instincts kicks in and her fate is sealed.

As I reach halfway through the book the story was still flat and I became less and less impressed with the Knight and Anya and their story.

***Beware! There is information below that may be considered spoilers. Read at your own risk!***

For all intents and purposes, the heroine becomes a gang leader's girlfriend. He had someone roughed up, had his cronies bully someone else, he may or may not have had someone shanked (he denied it, but the timing says differently), he stole the club he owns from his former business partner (granted, his former business partner is supposedly an a$$hole.) and most disturbing he has a stable of hos.

And the heroine, Anya... She seemed to have no pride. She was a total pushover, therefore no conflict between the two characters which leads to no angst and no climax which equals a boring book. A man of Knight's experience was able to size her up the first time they met. He knew how to pick his victim. He was able to lead her on a leash and she gives with no resistance. Maybe a slight tug here and there, but nothing to disrupt his hold on her. HOWEVER that may be KA's intention for her heroine.

I understand Knight is supposed to be an anti hero, but even anti heroes have some redeeming qualities. Knight had none what so ever. He also made it clear in the beginning that if she didn't like who he is and what he's all about she can get-to-steppin'. (Okay, maybe not in those terms, but you get the gist of it.) Too bad she wasn't aware of his pimp status then. And being a pimp with a heart of gold is NOT a redeeming quality. ;-P Yes, he watches out for his hos, but he's just protecting his investments.

From my understanding this is KA's first steamy or steamier series. The words were more explicit, but the sex acts itself is, shall I say "rough", but typical. The scenes were a bit boring and sometimes rushed, which was fine with me. The words "Dominant" and "Submissive" is lightly thrown in to the book used to titillate, but unfortunately it fell flat. More research will need to be done if that's the direction KA's leading this series.

Lastly, the villain, Nick, was given no real explanation for the animosity between him and Knight. Or did I miss it?

I know I'm in the minority in my low rating, but oh well. ^_^

so apparently the forward in this book was missed by a lot of people. Knight is not a traditional hero, he is gritty, alpha-hole'ish, and hot. Eww he smokes, but heck he is a pimp for Goddsake, smoking is a small defect in a lot of defects Knight has. However, he is caring, he is a proctector, he is loyal, and he loves Anya. This is not a cookie cutter man from your normal romance novel and if you dont get that or dont want that then really...why are you reading this book?

I am a big Kristen Ashley fan. I loved the Colorado, Rock Chick and Dream Man series. There was really no story here. The characters were not likeable at all, no personality and no fun. The "Daddy" thing made me think yuck and I although I can't compare it with the Fifty Shades series because I didn't read them I think the author is trying to latch on to the success of these books. I think Kristen Ashley could have incorporated the erotica and stayed a bit more true to her style and quality.

I knew from the first chapter that this book had me in its hooks...i am inlove with Knight & he can boss me around anyday! He is the true alpha male w/a twist...if you like 50 shades of Grey (which i love) you will love this book. Although i will admit i like Anya better than i do Anastasia in 50 shades, i love Anyas willingness to submit herself to Knight, she loves him unconditionally, realizes what it is he wants, needs, desires...and she selflessly gives it to him, in all ways...and in return she has his love & loyalty. I love the respect he has for her dreams & career, he doesnt degrade it...he encourages her to embrace. I will be rereading this book and recommending it to others...i love Knight & Anya...i didnt want the story to end :)

**after rereading this book, i still love it...but one thing that seriously gets on my nerves is the way her friend, Vivica, talks, and how Anya says "pardon?" all the time...lol, idk why but it really annoys me, i guess bc people dont really say "pardon?" that many times to someone, i feel like i wouuld say "what?" before i would say "pardon?" :) Other than that this is still one my favorite books!

i dont usually like books told in the first person but i loved this one. Knight what a smokin hot guy just loved him. Good story and great sex scenes. I usually like my walks on the wild side and this fit the bill nicely.

I enjoy hero like stories, a man who is so grateful for his life and his female, he enjoys showering gifts upon her, being possessive, and loving her is HIS way. He is a dominant, powerful and caring male who want to possess her, and she loves it.
The bedroom language doesn't bother me, everyone likes something different. He's not refined so his language is not going to be hearts and flowers. That's ok. I'm ok with the fact it has some likeness to 50 Shades of Grey, who cares, that book was so good I'm thrilled to be reading something along those lines.
I can't wait till the next one. Secretly almost all women want to be revered, loved, possessed, cherished and loved like this.

There are so many reviews I know, but I just have to put my review out there to hopefully get people to buy this authors stuff so she keeps writing it! Such an interesting writer with real talent. Never read a book quite like it and now hooked on her books. Almost done with all of them and so far loved all of them!

This book was one of the greatest romances I've ever read. The author makes the characters real and makes you feel the situation. I normally don't write reviews but this book as absolutely worth the read! Cannot wait for the next one!

This book started out like it might be something I could enjoy. Then the main character opened his mouth and started talking. I was just horrified at how he sounded like complete lowlife! I didn't really mind his character or any of the other parts of the story. I just could not stand how he talked like he was trash. I don't get any books by this author because I disliked it so much.

This was really bad. Really terrible. Characters were s*** and the guy refused to speak in complete sentences were just a couple of the problems with it. Not worth the time, I regret every second of it.

The writing was disappointing, the storyline had potential however the verbiage was awful and poorly written. The author needs a thesaurus and dictionary. Not worth the price, will not buy the others in the series. If

This book started off decent with the sample, but quickly went downhill from there. This may be one of the worst books I've ever read. I could barely follow the dialogue, since the author refused to use pronouns. The constant use of the word "bitch" turned my stomach, and the sex scenes were, quite frankly, boring for a supposed BDSM and utterly disturbing with the "Daddy". The conversations were beyond mundane (when they could be understood)there was no real plot, absolutely no character development (unless you count the supposed heroine going from hard working average girl to demoralized, kept sex fiend) and the "hero" was absolutely skeevy. Save your time, money and brain power.

I found that Anya for someone so unaware of men drooling over her, she has a lot of confidence, almost to the point of conceit, the way she talks about how hot she is while casually gazing at herself in a window reflection lol

Second...for someone so reserved about her feelings towards Knight and feeling as though she should "run far" she has no problem calling him honey? Lol during their first encounter at his house...

Third...The leading man should NOT smoke...really...EW

And last but certainly not least, Knight, for someone so smart and successful, he sounds like a meathead when he speaks...

Oh by the way babe, I'm a pimp...
OK Honey...

Book needs some serious editing!!!

I think the idea was promising, and Knight's character a novel main character. He's a unique take on the dominant male antihero.

Anya, however, is the typical blank slate female lead, with no family ties for her to answer to, and no dynamite career or world of her own to prevent her from being fully absorbed into Knight's world. Irritating, but not surprising. Also, her character started out with a fairly average tone and dialect, but somewhere about half way through, her speech suddenly got saturated with urban slang, often peppered with casually dropped strong language. I don't object to either, but what I do object to is changing a character's personality part way through the book with no explanation. It just looks like the author eventually found a cadence she liked, and didn't think to go back and make edits to earlier chapters.

Speaking of the writing... It was in a rambling first person voice, and there were several times I had to reread a sentence to try and figure out was being said. Sometimes it was bad punctuation, sometimes it was just one too many clauses shoved in the middle of a sentence. But it happened often enough to become distracting.

My other big complaint is that the storyline's life really ended at the midway point of this book. Everything that happened after Anya agreed to be with Knight was superfluous with absolutely no conflict remaining for the characters to overcome. Nothing. A few "truths" to come out. An annoying best friend to cause a little trouble, and an annoying brother to do the same. But really, nothing of significance. Mostly pages of Anya letting us know how much she loves Knight. That's great. But that means the story ended several chapters ago. It was almost like reading a journal with no main arc threading everything together, just records of what happened each day.

So. For the first half of the book, for its promise as a unique story and invention of a truly morally questionable antihero, I'd give this book 4 stars. But the second half of the book, for its inconsistency with the first half, redundancy within itself, and no conflicts to overcome, I'd give it 2 stars. So I'll meet in the middle and give it overall 3 stars.

Did I miss something in the book description? I kept waiting for the female protagonist to grow a character and kick this control freak to the curb. And then I finally realized this is a Dom-Submissive relationship. UGH. Not of interest to me. How about a new category of Romance so we can choose or ignore such books? Come on, the store, get organized!

The characters were not likable at all. The title character was just a criminal and a jerk, no matter how the author tried to make him seem like a lovable criminal. The love interest, although she tried to seem like a hardworking everyday kind of girl, seemed more like a gold digger than the author probably intended. There was very little about the characters that endeared them to me.

Love it, made me giggle, groan, and swoon. Kristen is just able to create the ultimate bad boy every time and she does it again in Knight. I don't get all of the 5 star reviews. This book was so so so wrong. Him calling her baby all the time in an icky way and having her call him Daddy while they had sex. Seriously? Plus it's set in Denver why did he speak the way he did. I couldn't finish it, didn't even get half way through and I was cringing and wanting to bleach my brain.

By no means am I a prude. Harsh words do not offend me. So I read this book trying to fill the itch after completing "Fifty Shades of Grey" triology (which was a romance story with some erotica that was tastefully written). Started to read "Knight" and immediately found similiarities between the two stories and started to get bored with it. Then the intimate scenes came and I was immediately turned off. The way he demeaned her by his treatment and talk was a huge turn off. The typing and numerous grammatical errors that caused incomplete sentences made understanding the story difficult at times. Basically what it came down to is that this author was trying to ride on the coat tails of E.L. James' (ELJ) hit and success. ELJ wrote one book in her entire life and it's made immediate millions, fan clubs and people creating Facebook character profiles, billions of dollars on merchandise, and has been offered a movie contract. The author of this book, Kristen Ashley, has obviously been around a long time as she's published over 30 books and still hasn't written anything as awesome as ELJ hit. She apparently has no imagination and doesn't do the research that ELJ put into her triology hit. Practically everything in "50 Shades" was real, including Christian's penthouse apartment (which actually exists), to the cars he drove, etc. It even ventured out of the city they were in to far away cities, i.e. Paris, London, French Riveria, etc. K. Ashley just described things in too lengthy details of made up items in the story and didn't do her homework or research to make them seem real. Lastly, there's no way that Knight can make the amount of money by what he does for a "living" without law enforcement casing his place. Period. My advice, don't waste the $3.99 on this book.

I was really surprised by all the positive ratings and comments. I really did not like this book. I only got about 50% through, then skipped to the epilogue. The dialog was ridiculous. I'm all for the alpha male role and like those kinds of books, but this character, Knight was just dumb. I kept envisioning Rocky Balboa whenever the Knight character was speaking. I couldn't figure out why he talked the way he did. They were from Denver for Pete's sake, not the Bronx. Sometimes the lingo seemed urban, other times mobster. Who knows? All I know is, not good.

I was excited to read this book based on the references to other books it was similar to. I forced myself ~ yes, forced ~ to trudge through reading.....at chapter nine, I just could not go any further. The character "Knight" came across as a totally illiterate moron ~ seriously, I was going cross eyed with a headache trying to digest the things he was saying. Perhaps needless to say, I'm returning the book ~ good luck to those who contemplate
the challenge of reading it!

This was my first KA book and it won't be my last! Wow, I started reading at night and what a mistake, I couldn't put it down. Knight and Anya just leaped off the page. I loved how strong and independent Anya was, but was so willing to submit to Knight,she didn't whine or constantly second guess herself. Knight, what can I say, did he have some flaws, YES, but his love and devotion to Anya were just what I look for when I read a Romance novel. That first kiss they share, WOW, it packed a punch. A great book, highly recommend it.

I regret buying this book. I just didn't get it. First off, the writing was confusing. Half of the time I didn't understand what Knight was saying. I had to re-read almost all of his boring and long monologues to figure out what he was getting at. It wasn't the use of slang (or attempted use of slang more accurately), I'm a girl from the hood myself so I'm use to slang words. I was the way the sentences were put together - real people just don't speak like that. I chalk this up to the author being English and trying to use what she thought was American urban speech. I just didn't work for me. At one point, Charlie the janitor says "sho' nuff." WTF? Is this an episode of Good Times? People haven't used the term sho' nuff since the 70's, black or white.

Anya was a character without any substance whatsoever. Knight could have told her he was an ax murderer and her only response would be to whisper "Okay honey." I like anti-hero stories and sometimes I even like the male character to be gansta (I would never date one in real life but it's nice to read about). This book definitely had potential. I read the synopsis of the story and couldn't wait to start reading it. I actually enjoyed the first few chapters, despite having to re-read sentences to figure out what Knight meant. Then it just went downhill. Anya had no personality and Knight had way too many long drawn out speeches. I wasn't vested in the characters and I stopped caring about them halfway through. I skimmed the rest of the story and from what I can tell, it didn't get any better. In my opinion, the concept of the book was great but wasn't executed very well.

This book was so bad I don't even know where to begin. All of the Yo's and pardon's got old real fast. The characters talked like they were teenagers in a gang, not adults. This book seemed to drag on forever and then in the last couple of chapters, years and years and years flew by. As if all that wasn't bad enough, when she started calling him "Daddy", that was the last straw for me and I just started skimming through the book after that.

This book sucked on so many levels, I am fuming writing this review.

I have now read 3 KA books. I am done. I do not care for these alpha male anti hero characters she writes. To me, they are not sexy, they are not relatable, they are not real, they have no redeeming value and they are all narcissistic, sociopaths!! As an FYI, the other 2 I have read are Motorcycle Man/Raid.

So a reader may ask, if I hated her books, why did I (a) buy the books, (2) read them? Good question. KA is from my hometown and I wanted to support her. Honestly, I thought each book would be a little different. But unfortunately I have been proven wrong.

I am disappointed in the readers who find this Knight guy sexy? Really? A rationale female would be okay with a man who is vulgar, disrespectful, self serving, live in my own world because I am my own god, I am my own religion, and manhandles women? If that isn't enough, this man is a pimp and lives his rich life off of the backs of women? Good grief, give me a break.

Anya was weak and I felt Knight took full advantage of that. I didn't like her at all. No wonder Knight kept her around, she was easily swayed, easily bossed around. Their sex life bordered on incestuous interactions. She calls him daddy, gross and he calls her baby. Yuck! That is sexy?

The nail in the coffin was when Knight admitted that essentially he was a criminal, a pimp to Anya and her response was ," I am afraid of underground garages." Uh? Some one slap me silly.

After Mr Ahole gave Anya a diamond ring, but informed her he would never marry her, well that was it for me. I skimmed the rest of the book and I think they had a child (poor kid, was it a girl or boy)? Don't know, don't care. I guess these 2 loosers deserved each other.

Okay, fuming over, I feel better. If had purchased this book, I would've either taken it back for my money or I would 've used it for liners for my cat's litter box.

This is my first book by this author and frankly I was amazed at how much the book read like the fifty shades series.Even references like the "many shades of gray in his decor". Both characters mothers are prostitutes, the heroine is a goody goody who is taken to the dark side. The list goes on and on. However where the two stories differ is the in the fifty shades trilogy there was at least a buildup in storyline and this book just seemed rushed. The sex scenes in Knight are tame and frankly a little creepy with the whole Daddy name calling. I actually had to get the publishing date from both books to see which one came first that is how close the story lines parallel one another. The dialogue is annoying with the whole white gangster type lingo and frankly I was very disapointed overall.

Omg that was HORRIBLE! What did I just spend time reading? Who thought this book was good?!?

Okay I have to start by saying that the dialogue and actual writing of this book was AWFUL! I didn't understand what they were even talking about half the time! It was as a secret language that was created and I could only follow half of it. Seriously, I have never in my life had such a difficult time following dialogue.

"They got shot of her and she made them do it in a way where they never looked back."

Wtf does that mean???? And I typed that verbatim to the book. What does it mean to get "shot" of someone? That wasn't the first or only time that phrase was used, I just figured it was a typo the first time and when the dialogue continued to make no sense I realized that the author just speaks a second language that she must have made up herself! I have read books based in all regions of the US and Europe and I have NEVER struggled with the dialogue or inflections or varied spellings of words, so don't try to tell me that I just don't speak the language of the region. If that really is how they talk in Denver (which I HIGHLY, HIGHLY doubt) then DON'T WRITE YOUR BOOK IN THAT DIALOGUE BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE IN THE WORLD UNDERSTANDS IT!!!

Knight was not at all appealing and there is absolutely no way that I would think any girl would like him. Between pimping, not believing in holidays or traditions, but claiming to be extremely close to his family...what? Please explain how that works? He doesn't do marriage, thanksgiving, or christmas, yet he loves and adores his mother and father, wants kids, and isn't opposed to celebrating birthdays or graduations? Oh yea, and a pimp?? Really? And she doesn't care? WHAT? Who is this guy and why in the world would you write him as your story hero? He's awful!! This book was awful. I keep trying to come up with any reason why it should get more than 1 star but I am at a complete loss...1 almost seems like more than it deserves

It could have been a good story, but it was kind of trashy. Knight sounded really hot, but calling women "bitches"? really? - I love an alpha male but one that treats his woman with respect. The dialogue and the way he talked just made this story really bad to me. I am very suprised at all of the high reviews!

I've only Knight and Sweet Dreams from this author. The whole reason I took a chance on Knight was because I really loved Sweet Dreams. Well, with Knight, you don't get the character development, you don't get the love story, you dont get the surprise of revealed secrets, and you don't even really get the exciting tension,

I didn't really care for the characters AT ALL. Anya was all over the map. I couldnt really get a true feel for her. At first she is supposed to be this shy and humble girl and then she turns into this Jersey Shore-esk trendy BDSM nympho? There was a major disconnect. Knight seemed like a poor clone of Tate in Sweet Dreams. Except Tate, I loved and there was so much more to him. Knight, seemed...I dont know what he seemed like because he was also all over the map. I was annoyed at both characters for their habitual "sayings."For example, "okay," "F* me," and "yeah?" It was almost reminiscent of "Me Tarzan, you Jane."

I know its easy to criticize (I know I cant write books) but I've seen this author do much, much better. Sweet Dreams was excellent and was well over 1400 pages but maybe that's where KA shines. It definitely didn't feel like 1400 pages. This one was just under 300 I think and it was basically a shell of a story. No emotional attachment to the characters. I honestly didn't care if they got their HEA ending.

If you wanna compare this to other BDSM books, the sex scenes were amateur. Just because you tell someone what to do and throw in a spanking doesn't make it BDSM. I love love stories and I also enjoy books with more edge with BDSM but there was no happy medium here.

The writing in this book was terrible. I couldn't make it even close to the end. Does Knight not know how to use a pronoun or form a complete sentence? And also, dropping the g from every word that has one and replacing it with an apostrophe? No, sorry. I couldn't handle it. Further, the plot was mediocre at best and sloppy at worst. Don't waste your time.

I am a fan of Kristen Ashley's books and was so excited about this new release. Two chapters into the book that excitement quickly turned to disappointment.
1) It is S&M erotica fiction-not what I was expecting at all! I don't know if the author is trying to ride the 50 Shades popularity wave but I was stunned and immediately turned off. I knew going into it that the book would be racier but never guessed how racy. However, unlike 50 Shades, Knight is not drawn out of the unhealthy lifestyle-Anya becomes a willing submissive. The whole thing turned my stomach.
2) Anya and Knight's personalities are problematic. Anya has none, she is a complete doormat and quite frankly is a boring character. She comes across as vapid and annoying. Knight is just a jerk. He doesn't redeem himself like KA's other heroes-he remains the same jerk from the beginning to the end.
3) Anya calls him, "Daddy." I couldn't take it.

SPOILER ALERT

4) Knight is a pimp. When this is revealed I wanted to throw the book across the room. Seriously!?! That is supposed to be romantic? Prostitution degrades women, plain and simple. It turns them into nothing but cattle. I couldn't believe that Anya accepted it and didn't ask Knight to change.

Unfortunately, Kristen Ashley has lost a reader. If this book is an example of where she is going with her books, I am out.

Initial Thoughts:
I have grown to LOVE Kristen Ashley books. I have read the entire Colorado Mountain Man, Mystery Man, and Rock Chick Series. I'm currently working my way through the 'Burg series, but this one by her caught my eye, so I took a break from the 'Burg to read this one.

The Pros:
This book was completely different than Ashley's other novels. It was a refreshing change of pace for her.

Ashley left behind her normal Denverite speak for this one. I can't decide if that's good or bad, I think I've grown to like it.

Knight was MUCH hotter than KA's other novels. Much. Much. Much much.

There were some really sweet quotes from Knight that made me go all "awwwwww!"

The Cons:
Anya calling Knight "Daddy". Um. Ew?

It felt like a Fifty Shades knock off, and not in a good way.

Knight's actual business was SHOCKING. And how could Anya stay with him after that? She barely even thought about it.

The whole novel felt a little rushed. Maybe she should have broken it down into two books and took a little more time on character development.

The Wrap Up:
I think I like Kristen Ashley's typical novels better. This one just seemed a little too forced for me, and the "Daddy" bit creeped me right out.

Favorite Quote:
" 'Wars fought over a face like this,' he murmured like he was talking to himself, my heart stopped beating and his thumbs moved lightly across my cheeks. 'A man would work himself into the ground for it, go down to his knees to beg to keep it, endure torture to protect it, take a bullet for it,' his eyes came to mine, 'poison his brother to possess a face like this.' "

This book is no different than any other poorly written book of this nature. The author's use of urban English or slang is horrid to say the least. The anti-hero, Knight sounds like a neanderthal pimp doing a poor impression of Vanilla Ice doing a broke impression of Fifty Cent. A few words here and there would have been more than enough for the reader to comprehend Knight's way of speaking. But, to load every sentence down with antiqued slang was an insult to the reader's intelligence. I understand he is suppose to be an "anti-hero" but he comes off as a cartoon thug, with zero respect for women. The reason given for his behavior is laughable when you consider he's suppose to be "hard - from the hood." The scenes that are supposed to be hot are tepid at best and redundant.

The female lead loses what little voice she had mid-book which coincided with my lost of interest. It's also about that time you'll know how the book will end and most likely not care. Had I paid more for this book my inner thug would have imploded (I don't have an inner thug, but if I did). To put it into words Knight would understand, this book is wack and I'm out. Peace.

Let me start by saying that I love a good trashy novel. I am not looking for every book I read to win a Pulitzer Prize. However, I do expect it to follow the rule of the English language. I was unable to read this book due to the overly poor grammar and sentence structure. I mean this is just really, really bad. I got this book looking to fill my 50 Shades void but I really wish I could get my money back. If you need something to replace 50 try Bared to You, by S. Day or Beautiful Disaster, by J. McGuire. This is just the worst piece of writing I have ever seen in my life and I wish there were some book police I could call to get this author arrested!!!

This is the first review I have left, I cannot believe how terrible this was. I absolutely wish I could return this and get a refund! I have just finished all 3 book of 50 Shades and this is absolutely not anything like it. The writing is so terrible that on many pages I had to re-read a 2nd time and still did not understand what they were talking about! There was no spark, no magic, no emotion. I did not feel anything for this book! There is no flow, no believable dialogue and a crappy story. The sex scenes are horribly written. I can't believe a publishing company actually thought this was good enough to print.

I hated this book with a passion as it was just plain awful. Knight whips Anya as he is a Domininant and I guess she never knew she was into being whipped and beaten and that she was a submissive. This guy was a total jerk and would hide it by buying her a lot of gifts.. There is no happily after as Knight doesn't believe in marriage so no proposal even though she got him a daughter. Oh and by the way he Sophisticated John/Pimp with 57 girls working for me. 2nd read = 2018 (5 star)
1st read = 2013 (4 star)

When I first read this book, I hadn’t read a lot of ‘dark’ stories. This was one of the first that I read and I thought that it was on the ‘dark’ side. But since then I have read a lot more dark (very dark) stories and now when I read ‘Knight’ for the second time I would call this book more of a light version of a dark story. But just like the first time, I enjoyed the story very much, maybe even more!

Anya is one of Kristen Ashley’s sweeter character but that doesn’t mean that I love her less. I love a KA’s character with a loss of sass but I love her sweeter heroines too . And Knight really needs a sweet and nice woman. Because he’s very controlling, possessive and dark.
Knight is a very hard character all dominant and alpha. I found the combination of him and Anya fascinating to read. They were perfect for each other. You had various side characters in this book too, good and bad.

The story is told from Anya’s POV. This book is a little darker (more dominant sex scenes) then the writer’s other books but I loved it.

>Book Review – Knight
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Unfinished Hero series and ends in an HEA. Knight is a true alpha bad guy. He sees Anya at a party and is intrigued. I love how he notices her apartment has repairs to be made and he forces the super to make them, all before he ever asks Anya out. Anya is an orphan who has always worked for what she needed. Getting favors and gifts from Knight doesn’t sit right with her, making her more desirable to Knight.
>Knight’s brother is a real screw up, who causes issues for both Anya and her friends. Knight is extremely dominant, but explains himself fairly well. Anya is given a choice to submit or move on and she chooses to submit. Their relationship is one of alpha protectiveness and love. Anya finds out the dark side to Knight and decides to live with it. I didn’t like the whole “daddy” business, but seemed to work with Anya and Knight.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. The story was dark, but still romantic and erotic.

I'm a big Kirsten Ashley fan but I do admit this novel wasn't my favourite. There are some reviews here which feel overly harsh to me. The relationship is not, in my opinion, in any way abusive. When it comes to books with a dominant male character with these types of preferences, I actually thought the dominant element was less than some other authors. Contrasting to other authors however, I did feel that because this wasn't a traditional D/S relationship he wasn't driven to care for her in some of the ways I understand a Dom might.

What I liked about this book:
Characters: I thought the main characters were ideal because they weren't perfect. They felt like real people because they had issues/fights areas of divergence in opinion.
Relationship style: While I have read my fair share of explicit novels, I enjoyed that the less traditional elements of the characters relationship (D/S) was toned down. It takes all types to make up a world and there are plenty of people who enjoy the extreme and those that like a hint of it without the hard edge. I liked that this book rode the edge.

What I didn't like about this book:
Language: This is a common complaint for me with Kirsten Ashley, even though I enjoy and continue to read her novels. The characters swear more than I like and more than just in sexual situations. Excessive swearing is an indicator of a non-diverse vocabulary in my opinion. Additionally I found the nickname 'Daddy' a bit creepy.
Lack of compromise: I felt that sometimes the male lead was unyielding. This type of relationship does not preclude compromise and I feel like sometimes this element was lacking.

If you like a dominant male lead but you're not so much into the hard edge of D/S then this book is a good one to try. Take it with a grain of salt. This author has other books that are more enjoyable.

I wasn't bothered by the domineering nature of Knight like a few other readers, I was more bothered by the choppy writing style that made it a longer and more difficult read than necessary. The plot and premise moved along well enough, however, I was expecting Anya to be a bit stronger than she was. Given the nature of her past, and the strength it took for her to make her way through life, I would have rather seen her go a little more toe-to-toe with Knight.

There were touching moments, dramatic moments, and a heavy does of steamy moments.

I always love discovering a new author for me to read, and I typically love to read all the books in a series, but the writing style is very difficult for to me get through, so I think I'll have to pass on this series.

I love KA's writing for the most part, however I have learned to pick and choose the books I want to read and I've found that if I take a dislike to one of her characters I probably won't change my mind. KA billed this series as an anti-hero series. What harm was there in seeing what she meant? I purchased Knight as an Audible book. My first impression was BLEH and 4 hours in my BLEH went out the door and I started to actively dislike Knight. First and foremost he was sexist (it takes a lot for me to hang that title on a KA character since most of them are sexist to a point), he was rude and had no qualities that balanced out his Alpha male statements. I didn't get any warm fuzzies at all. THEN I broke the spoiler rule and went online for the spoiler - why waste my time listening to a book that didn't get better than BLEH???? When I found out exactly what Knight was I decided this was absolutely not a book that I wanted to continue to listen to, and I am certainly NOT a prude. I've had a night to sleep on it and my opinion hasn't changed. I returned the book (a first for me) and decided that I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on such trash and I certainly won't be back for a second helping of the Unfinished Heros series.

Okay, I've read some of Kristen Ashley's other books and have always thought they were decent reads. However, this book did not do it for me.

First, the fact that Anya calls Knight "Daddy," not just in bed but in everyday conversation is so gross. Second, Anya is a weak protagonist who is completely unrelatable. From the beginning she accuses one of her friends of being a gold digger, but right after meeting Knight she is accepting gifts worth thousands of dollars with basically no argument whatsoever, despite claiming to be a strong woman who wants to do everything on her own. Third, she gives in to every one of his demands, not matter how ridiculous. No one casually thinks that random beatings on their landlord is acceptable after meeting the man who ordered the hit the night before. Then we're supposed to be attracted to Knight, who is insane, not to mention a PIMP. And Anya is cool with it, just slightly annoyed he didn't tell her. WHAT. The last quarter of the book was just so awful I skimmed quickly just to hope it was redeemed in the end. It wasn't. The epilogue just got me even me angry. He refuses to marry her or give her his name? He won't respect her enough to fully celebrate the holidays she believes in? That isn't love and it isn't attractive. There was nothing redeeming about this book.

First off, this book is what "50 Shades" wishes it could be and more. Second, I am far from a prude, but I am not into this whole domination/submission scene (If those are even the correct terms). In fact, this is only the 4th book I've read in my lifetime that even hinted at this subject matter. The first book was completely horrible, disturbing, disgusting, and it gave me nightmares (Claiming of Sleeping Beauty). The second book was just alright (50 Shades of Grey), but nothing I was really too impressed with. Therefore, I left the whole genre alone completely. I figured it was not my taste, so I avoided it like the plague, and my sister, who will literally read ANYTHING convinced me that this book would be worth my time. I'm glad she did. I didn't expect this to be my cup of tea, but it exceeded my expectations. Kristen Ashley has totally reopened my mind about this sort of thing.

I am an aggressive woman, so the thought of being "submissive" to this extent troubles me because I don't like being told what to do, and I am not even a feminist. However, even I would be willing to endure this for Knight Sebring. I love flawed, bad boys, with dangerous attitudes, who speak with confidence and authority. Knight has all of that, and then some. He's over-protective, stern, generous, gentle, controlling, in charge, rough around the edges, and makes a spanking very sexy and appealing to me. I mean, he could spank me anytime, and that's saying something. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind my man smacking my behind if the situation warranted that, but "spankings" are for children, so that's how I've always viewed it. That's why I was so surprised that I found that part to be very sexy. Especially, the way he does it.

On top of that, the whole "daddy" references didn't bother me as much because I know women who have been calling their men "daddy" or their "sugar-daddy" forever. Personally, I don't think I could do it with the man I'm sleeping with when there are tons other terms of endearments that are just as sufficient. However, in this case, I think that worked with Knight and Anya in a way that I wasn't turned off by it.

As far as the whole "pimp" thing goes, I guess I just see it a little differently than others because truthfully a pimp is a pimp, and while some people see that as black and white (which I totally get the stigma behind it), I also see the gray areas. Prostitution is one of the world's oldest professions, and seeing how Knight grew up, and the things he witnessed with his mother's addiction and prostitution, it's not hard to see why he chose this lifestyle. The distinction, for me, is that these women aren't being forced to do this, they need the money, and they need the protection while they're out making their money. That's all he did...provide the protection. None of them were servicing him, they got to choose all of their own clients, and he took a percentage of their earnings for the protection. Unfortunately, protection being a necessity in their profession. All of this was explained. Now, is it morally wrong? I guess that depends on who you ask. Although, I am a live and let live kind of person, so if the "girls" are into this, and they like what he's putting down, and he's not beating them or taking their money like the average "street pimp" I guess I would be okay with that too.

In other words, I guess what I am saying is this book is definitely worth the read. It pushed just the right buttons for me. It wasn't over-the-top sick, perverted, and twisted to where I felt like I needed a shower after reading it. That being said, Knight is not the average "hero" as Ms. Ashley warns you prior to reading this fabulous book, so if you can't take a no-holds-barred alpha male then it may not be for you. Honestly, I don't even think he could even be classified as an alpha male because he took that at step further than her other alpha males to where he was downright scary in parts of this book. Definitely not a good guy, but not the worst either. The type of guy you definitely wanted to stay on his good side, and I loved that. And frankly, I think that's a more realistic picture of the dual personalities of a lot of men, and women too, when you think about it. Not all men are essentially good, but they can be good to the right woman, if she accepts him the way that he is without trying to change him. I totally get Knight in a way that could probably not have been explained to me in any other way, and I don't know if it's because a woman wrote this book or not, but I totally get who this guy is, and I liked it.

All things considered, "Knight" is pretty sane and tamed. Another good read I would suggest, if you like this book, is "Staking His Claim" by Tessa Bailey which is in her "Line of Duty Series". Another option, if you're looking for a truly, truly insane, violent, and psychotic alpha male, then you may want to read Adriana Noir's "Sinister Kisses/SKALS Series." You read that book, and "Knight" will seem like a bed time story, and you will feel like you just stepped into the ninth circle of hell, and Sebastian is the devil.

TL;DR: Worst book ever. Do not recommend.

This is seriously the worst book I've ever read. Like. Worse than Twilight, and that's saying something. I can deal with a certain level of Alpha Male, but omg. This book is the literal worst. The main male character isn't just Alpha; he's a freaking douchebag. It's like she wanted SO BADLY to portray him as this total badass that she like way overdid it. He is not believable as a real character. Besides the fact that I could hardly read through a paragraph without having to go back and decipher what the hell they were trying to say with the style of speech. Seriously, that alone was a headache.

I'm going to compare to 50 Shades because it honestly felt like KA was trying to recreate it. Christian Grey is controlling, unyielding, but it's always in the best interest of Ana. Knight is controlling, unyielding (and quite frankly, extremely rude) but it's always in the best interest of HIMSELF. And honestly, when/if he does bother to explain it to her, it's always like the LAMEST possible reason. And what does she do? She just freaking accepts it without another thought. Like no, that is not realistic. Anya started out as such an interesting character, and I feel like KA just threw it all away with the rest of the book. She ends up with zero personality. How sad and disappointing.

And then there's the sex scenes. I realize she was trying to emulate 50 Shades, but she does not have the writing skills of E.L. James (and I'm not even a fan of hers, but damn can that woman write a scene to make me hot!). So while she was trying, kind of, to play up the Dom/sub scene, it really didn't work. And who the hell thinks it's hot to call your sexual partner "Daddy"??? That's disgusting. Instant turn off for me reading this book. And it was like all the time. CRINGE. Quite honestly I was more interested in Anya's friend Viv and Knight's friend whoever who started a D/s relationship. And if I looked I may see that KA did indeed write that book. But I won't be reading it because now I know KA's writing style is not developed or sophisticated enough to be worth my time. Except, while we're on the subject, tell me WHY the only two POC in the entire book could only end up together?! That really bothered me. More eye rolling commenced.

~~~~~Spoilers~~~~~
I don't know why I bothered putting that because seriously you should not read this book but here we go. I need to rant. Let's talk about the fact that Knight's mother was a prostitute, conceived him thusly, and then saw fit when he got older to OPEN AN UNDERGROUND PROSTITUTION RING?!?!?!? INSTEAD OF, oh I don't know, A WOMEN'S SHELTER FOR AT RISK OR ENDANGERED WOMEN?!?! HOW is THAT the best course of action?! HOW is THAT helping at all?! NO, it does NOT make it better that he "treats his girls right." It does not. Absolutely not.
There was literally no romance in the entire book until the end. But then, his declaration of love... was MAINLY COMPOSED OF HOW HE LIKED TO HAVE SEX WITH HER. I mean. Come on. What a throwaway writing-wise. There was nothing redeeming in his Declaration Monologue at all. I read through the whole thing constantly rolling my eyes. That's the best you can do, KA? Give me a break.
That's really all the time I care to spend on this book. Don't waste your time like I've wasted time.
There were some interactions and moments in this book that I loved. The storyline was moving along steadily, the characters were being explained, described and imagined easily. Chemistry was was between Knight and Anya....he was a smidge past way too conconvertrolling to be sexy. And Knight was a windbag----i mean most of the monologues he had in the book could have been 1/3 the length. All in all though--I soldiered through and there were many redeeming moments in the book.
SCREEEEEEEECHHHHHH..HOLD UP. .did she just call him DADDY during sex?! (gasp, shudder gag) Yeah from pretty much that point on in the book it was downhill. I had a hard time concentrating on the plot because I was humming the National Anthem loudly in attempts to block out every time I read her calling him DADDY (gasp, shudder, gag) and he encouraged it. Sigh. Just. No.
Hot on the heels of finishing Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chick series I moved on to the Unfinished Hero series and I was excited to start listening to this one. Oh wow! Having spent the last two days listening Knight all I can say is I couldn’t get enough of Knight Sebring. Just like Anya Gage I was hooked.
Knight is a whole lot of hotness. He’s a bad boy, gorgeous, alpha, dominant, protective, brooding, generous, controlling, and powerful. And oh does he know how to make a lady happy in every way ;) He’s someone at first glance you don’t think you are going to like and then he does something and you know that regardless of some of his questionable activities his heart is in the right place, especially when it come to Anya Gage
I adored Anya her with all that she had been through I admired her attitude toward life. She was someone I would love to have as a BFF. Knight and Anya have great connection, chemistry, and especially passion together. The relationship that they developed together is sincere and heartfelt. And lets not forget their sex scenes they were burning hot! My heart rate went up many times!
The only thing I will say that was a …“Well okay then moment for me. The use of word that Knight asks Anya to call him sometimes. It didn’t sit well with me when I first heard it, by the end I still didn’t love it but I did get use to it.
With the great plot, amazing storytelling, interesting characters and a delightful epilogue, which I had to listen to twice Knight was another satisfying fix in my KA addiction. I loved how descriptive KA writing is as I could just picture every scene.
Excellent start to the series and can’t wait to start listening to Creed.
It's been a long time since I wanted to read one of Kristen Ashley book. This week end was finally the time to meet one of her hot alpha male and I decided to go for Knight.
I love a hot alpha dominant male and with him I got my catch! What attracted me to him was his anti-hero side.
I know a lot of you have already read this book so I won't probably go into the details but for someone who has never read a KA book or if you are undecided about Knight, you have to know that the guy is certainly the most alpha male I've EVER read about!
I will summarize this with one quote:
« It’s time you learn something about me, Anya. I don’t live in your world. I live in another world. It’s my world. I took it over. I rebuilt it. I own it. I control it. I have a code. Anyone in my world lives by my code...."
If you are not ready to accept that you won't probably like him.
At first Knight made me laugh so much. His caveman and macho ways were so funny for me. When he says something, you have to listen but I'm such a bad girl I would have been more a pain in his ass.
When he decides to have Anya, it's not to let her walk away easily.
« Babe, come here.”
Was he high?
“No, I’m leaving,” I fired back.
“You don’t wanna walk away from me.”
My brows shot up. “I don’t?”
“No.”
“Wrong,” I retorted. “I do. Sorry,” I went on then finished, “Good-bye Knight.”
Then, as I heard movers coming back, I turned to round the wall of the kitchen.
I got one step in. Then I was not only in the kitchen but across it, my back pressed to the counter and Knight pressed into me. »
But there's so much more to him being all dominant. Knight is also sweet and very caring. This side of him made me swoon. Knight gives the world to his woman and you only want to give him the world.
I had more problems with Anya. She is twenty seven but I would have given her barely twenty. She was kind of silly sometimes. I get she had a difficult life but her reactions were a little too immature for her age.
Them as a couple was a perfect match! They connect the moment their met. Knight tries to stay away but it's impossible to resist when Anya put herself in a difficult position.
Their strength together is probably trust. Knight is very open to explain everything to her. All she has to do is ask a question and he will answer honestly. For me in this kind of relationship, where you have a guy who is so much into control, it's important to have honesty and trust. As both are a big part of this book, I could only be happy to see their feelings grow and become love.
« You stick by me, you, and only you, will learn why I am how I am. No one knows. No one. But you, Anya, you stick with me, I’ll share. And right now, bonus. I’ll tell you what you already know but you don’t understand. I like control and I have a temper. I see the world a certain way. I want my world a certain way. And I set about getting it. If I don’t, if I can’t control that, harness it, things can get ugly. So I do. When I do, say when I’m punishing you, I never lose control because what I’m doing is a release. And the only time I’ll lose control is when I’m finally inside you and you’ll like that, I promise you. »
Now Kristen Ashley's writing was absolutely delicious! What I liked the most was how she gives every detail, every word an importance. Sometimes books lack words to describe the way you feel when you enter a room, when you are in a particular situation. But with KA, it's certainly not the case! It's like you are in the book and in the hero or heroine's head, you see with their eyes.
In the same aspect, the sex scenes smoking hot! Once again, as a couple Knight and Anya are perfect! They respond to each other in an incredible way. The attraction, the combination of want and need is so powerful; you will only want to devour this book!
When I closed the book, I only wanted to jump in another marvellous book from KA. I know I said in my updates than the next one would probably be The Mystery Man or The Gamble but after I read Creed's blurb, I think I'm going to change my mind a continue with the Unfinished Heroes series ♥
Knight is my absolute favorite book. I think I've read it about 10 times. However, this is the review on the Audible version.
Knight is described as a tall 250 pound man with an aggressive male beauty who has a deep growling voice. I imagine the voice to be similar to Thor's AKA Chris Hemsworth, who I keep asking for Christmas but he has yet to be delivered.
Knight is described through most of this novel growling out orders or replies. There is so much emphasis on his growling deep voice, I'm left a bit disappointed with this Audible.
I think Savannah Richards did an excellent job. However there was no way a woman would be able to pitch her voice deep enough to match what has been described. I think the only way to come close would have been to have two narrators one being a man with a deep growling voice.
This was the first Audible book I've ever purchased. I'm not sure if this is my "thing" or not. I don't know if it was because I pretty much know this book backwards and forwards. Or if it's just I was more easily distracted in this format. I think it's a bit of both.
It also didn't help my husband coming in during the "strap" scene. Which is like the hottest scene EVER! He was like WTF are you listening to? My response shut up and go away! Which of course he doesn't!
So needless to say I'm torn on the Audibles. I think personally it would work for me for flights or car rides since I can't read in the car or plane without getting sick.
I've already given this book a 5 the first time I read it. But if I would rate the Audible I would say a 4. The voice of Knight just wasn't right for me. Like I said this is nothing against Savannah she did a brilliant job. Just with her pitch and tone of voice there is no way she could get his voice right....Sara
**Audible edition - the narrator was very good. The male voices were well done and had a noticeable distinction between the male and female characters.
I went into Knight with caution, as there had been several people around me that didn't care for it because of the nicknames used in the book. I have to say, that if I hadn't been super aware of it, I wouldn't have noticed it at all. So don't let that bother you when you get to that part. Just proceed right over it and enjoy what the rest of the book has to offer.
I really enjoyed this book. I am especially fond of the KA hero, anti-hero in this case, and this was no exception. I actually found myself liking him more because of his past, because of the dark, and especially because of how those things contributed to the person Knight became.
What I LOVED about this book was how Anya and Knight acted when the conflict arose. The adult, rational, normal reaction was very much appreciated compared to the no communication, assumptions, and asinine behavior that characters seem to have during the time of their conflict. It was refreshing and made me love them even more.
Four years after its release, I decided to pick up Knight. Unfinished Heroes...meh...it just never appealed to me. I love Kristen Ashley; however, I still shied away from this series. After reading a few reviews from friends who didn't like Knight at all, I decided to dip my toe into the series. Yes, I know why people hated it: the "term of endearment" that Anya called Knight during their sexy times; Knights "other" career; and the over the top "sexy talk". EVEN with all that, I have to say that I loved the story. Somehow Kristen Ashley managed to craft a story that I loved in spite of all the things that would have caused me to hate this story had it been written by any other author. This is definitely a series that I am going to continue reading because apparently, I'm a glutton for unfinished hero punishment.
Kristen Ashley knows how to bring a dark hero to life. Anya has worked hard her whole life to survive and make a good life for herself. She meets Knight at a party that was held at his apartment and her integrity catches his attention. He tries to leave her alone but can't leave her alone. Anya doesn't know how to deal with a man who makes her life easy. She also doesn't know everything about Knight and how he's made his own life what it is. This story is a little dark, deals with issues people try to ignore and is wildly hot. If you like a dark hero you will love this one.
Knight is an alpha man who is dominating, dark, mysterious, sensual, passionate and highly successful. Anya comes into his life and makes him want to show her that everyone deserves good and he gives it to her in beautiful moments throughout this story.
Anya is an old soul, having had a tough life but she has a true beauty and caring nature where people meet her and know she is honest, independent and loving.
I really savoured this story, I love Kristen Ashley and her alpha men however fair warning this series is different from her others but I liked the darkness of it. Probably only one part of this story that did my head in a bit was the reference to "daddy", just weird to me but in the context of the sexual storyline probably fits and either way - Knight is hot and dominating so no complaints here.
Either way you will get drama, twists and turns, romance and erotic sexual scenes which do not disappoint and will get you a bit hot under the collar.
I LOVE bossy, pushy guys like Knight. And after reading the warning/author note at the beginning I was super excited KA was going darker and more erotic in this novel. This just didn't work for me personally though. Anya was just too easy! I mean SO EASY! I was tearing my hair wishing she would grow a spine. The pet names are tiring as well. So far every KA book I've read the heroine is using "honey," as a pet name. In this book Knight was using "babe," and "baby" all of the time and it got old fast. I just asked for a refund of the book when "daddy" became the pet name Anya started using in the bedroom. I didn't even read through the rest of the book. Nothing creeps me out more than father/mother bedroom issues - and I'm not dissing anyone that enjoys that role-play/name-play, it's just not my thing at all and I couldn't overlook it!
I don’t even know how many times I’ve read or listened to this book and each time I get even more enjoyment from it. It is a great start to this darker series. Sweet at times and oh, so HOT!
“You can’t cushion me from the entire world, Knight.”
“I can try.”
My stomach dropped.
“I’ll take measures,” he went on like he didn’t just rock my world.”
Knight is my favorite book by my favorite author, so I give it ALL the stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Anya Gage knows to get anything good, she must work hard. She knows it won't be easy so she has no high expectations or dreams. She goes to this party with her "friend" and doesn't want to be there. She finds herself in a random room using the phone to call for a cab when she meets Knight Sebring. Knight knows what he wants, but for Anya's sake he tries to leave her alone and let her have the white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and a husband who watches football on Sundays. After Knight has to help her again at his club again...he finds he can't help himself. So he decides to take what he wants and what he wants his Anya.
This was a different pace for the Kristen Ashley books I have read. With saying that I didn't totally love it. There were a few things I didn't quite understand after the first read...I'm sure reading it again will help with that. Knight is definitely an anti-hero and I love that about this series. Not every guy is a clean cut knight in shining armor, much like Marcus and Ren in her Rock Chick series, but I love them all the same. I am not sure if I will continue with this series but I will most definitely give it a try, because HELLO! It's Kristen Ashley! There were definitely hot scenes in this story to make you fan yourself, along with plenty of drama and swoon worthy moments.
This was very frustrating to read. I love the idea of this very imperfect hero and no doubt he is hot. The concept and most of the story was pretty good (other than him making her call him daddy in bed, blah) but I was too distracted by trying to figure out what Knight was actually saying that I lost track. Seriously, what language was he speaking? It wasn't English. And so many run-on sentences that it was ridiculous. I found myself rereading numerous paragraphs. This is not my idea of good writing. Since this is my first Kristen Ashley book, I don't know if this is the way the author writes all of her books or this was saved just for Knight but I'm not sure if I want to invest any more time in to reading the rest of the books in this series.
3.5 Stars...
I have to start by admitting I liked this book way more than I should have... and I think that is crazy. This probably shouldn't have been my first Kristen Ashley read because I have a feeling the books that earned her so much reader loyalty didn't feature a man as... enigmatic as Knight Sebring (the name makes him sound like a character in a Quentin Tarantino film).
I really have no idea how to express my feelings on this book in complete sentences, so I am taking a page out of Knights book (horrid pun, I know):
Likes: The instant attraction without instant love
Anya and Knight's willingness to embrace the good, bad and ugly in one another
Viv was really helpful in making sense of Anya, funny and not too much of a caricature (sorry, but her growing up in the hood should not have been enough for her to just waive off Knight and Rhashan's chosen profession)
Dislikes: Knight's penchant for the thug-lit soliloquy and general dislike of pronouns, linking verbs and prepositions
Nick as a constant plot device
Anya's lack of personality (she seemed to have very few thoughts outside of what people told her to ponder)
Overuse of the never sexy see-you-next-tuesday
Knight, heaven help me, saved what could have been a really bland relationship. He made their dynamic and he made the book interesting. The sex scenes were not really sexy and Anya was wallpaper at times. I liked, but didn't love it. I do, however, want to read more of KA's work.
This was my first KA book and I really enjoyed it. The Anti-Hero, Knight, is just such a dark, sexy, bad boy and I loved the heroine, Anya! They were a perfect fit for each other and their journey was very fun, deep, steamy, and entertaining to read.
A little description:
Knight has had a rough life and only knows the darkness that he came from, lives in, and will have to deal with in the future. He took the world he was given and tries to make it better, even if it's impossible to make that wrong world good, he can make it as good as it can get.
Anya is the good and light to his dark world. He didn't want bring her good nature into his world, but when certain situations occurred he decided, "to heck with it," and their story began. She is plagued by her own demons and Knight helps her through them, protects her, provides for her, cares for her and asks for one thing. Her complete devotion to him and his way of being. Together they work through what they have been dealt and it was very enjoyable to read. It has a HEA that is super sweet. ;)
The couple things that made this story a 4 star instead of a 5 for me was the amount of grammatical errors and BDSM. Grammar errors are a big pet peeve of mine. It wasn't over-run with errors, but there were enough to bug me. The BDSM wasn't too heavy or super kinky stuff, and I'm not very educated on the levels of BDSM, but I would set it at a light level. I was warned BDSM was in this book, but I still wanted to read it and I did enjoy it so I'm happy. The BDSM stuff just doesn't excite me, however, it was well suited for this book. I definitely recommend this book and I'm off to the next KA on my list! Hehe!
I have yet to read a Kristen Ashley book I did not like! This one is no exception. I loved it! Yes it was pretty different from the others I've read, but it was still really good! After having read some of the reviews for it here and on the store, I feel the need to complain about people for a second. I get that certain themes are not for everyone - me included. Knight is a dominant controlling man. IRL there is no way I'd be cool with how he gets bossy with Anya. But we're not talking about real life. We're talking about a book! If you read the blurb you'll see it say's he's controlling, hell on her website it even says he's an anti hero as in he does bad things for good reasons! That's the whole point of this book. If you don't like that type of hero, don't read it! I also get Ms. Ashley's writing style is a bit different than most but once you get used to it, its normal; not everyone writes the same, and if they did we avid readers would be bored to tears without variety! Jeez.... Anywho... I liked Knight. I thought he was hot and (in the book) I liked how he was with Anya. I liked how he wanted to make her life better and take care of her. That she took awhile to get used to his gift giving and felt the need to earn her keep, so to speak, was great too! Even though its not popular to smoke anymore, I liked that he did! I can't think of another book I've read where someone smoked in it. The erotic part of the story was definitely more than her other books, and I think she should keep that up! I enjoyed this book a lot and can't wait for the next in the series.
This book was recommended to me ages ago. It took me a long time to get around to it but I have read it now. I did enjoy it but I think I am going to enjoy next book in the series more which Creed. This is my first book by this author. I think I will enjoy the series.
This was Anya and Knight's story. I liked that story concentrated on the couple and their relationship. The story-line could have been deeper but the author said she was trying something new.
I am look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Alpha male all the way... But the heroine isn't a push over either. Not sure I liked Knight at first but as I got into the story the more redeeming he became. This story is a standalone but opens up for other stories in this universe to follow. I don't know if I liked this as well as the Rock Chick series but since it's only the first in this series, I'll hold judgement until I read more.
Firstly I have to say that I am a KA addict. I love her books but this one just didn't get me as immersed as much as the others, but then I couldn't put it down. In other words, I'm torn writing this review.
I really liked the story line but I couldn't get comfortable with a few things in the book, namely some of Knights' dialogue and then one word in particular. And I accept that that is my opinion as some others have no problem with it.
On the other hand I absolutely loved some of Knights dialogue
"Wars fought over a face like this,"he murmured
I loved the deep, intense feelings that Knight had. Once he was committed to any type of relationship, he was committed, protective and in control. This was no different when it came to his feelings for Anya. Once Anya caught his eye he threw himself completely into their relationship, no holds bared.
I also loved Anya and the way she had made a life for herself and continued to retain some independence in their relationship, not taking anything for granted and wanting to give back to Knight as much as she received.
As with all of KA's books, the chemistry between these two was hot and steamy; intense and extreme at times and gentle and sweet at others. The story saw growth in both characters and the epilogue was great.
This is one of the strangest reactions I've ever had to a romance novel EVER. Knight, the "hero" in this book is brash, a control freak, surly, demanding...on paper he is the kind of hero I hate. HOWEVER I absolutely LOVE him! How can this be?
I mean on the one hand this guy makes Anya his lady love stop dancing in his club because he doesn't like that, he tells her what to do, has her call him daddy in the sack. There were moments in this book that I felt uncomfortable about his control but then he is so thoughtful. In his own quiet way he takes care of his woman. She lives in an unsafe building? well he makes it safe for her. He notices something that needs to be sorted, he does it for her without her asking.
In the end I felt that the relationship was a lot of give & take. She gives him the control he needs & she gets protected & taken care of. She gives him her trust, he gives her his loyalty. Also the sex in this is HOT. I never thought it'd be a turn on to be controlled but it totally is (shocking I know! who knew?)
This book was weird, there were times i felt uncomfortable but weirdly sorta kinda turned on? I finished this bok & the story stayed in my head even afterward. I have to read this again!
This is the first Kristen Ashley book that I've read. I know that there are a crazy number of crazily devoted fans out there. I don't know if this book would push me to want to further understand that devotion. Don't get me wrong, I liked it - but I didn't love it. Aspects of this story actually really bothered me - maybe my personality just clashes too much with the characters - but some things just kind of turned me off. Although there were certainly some parts that turned me on ;)
I think I might try out some of the Rock Chick series to help me decide whether or not to reserve place in the Kristen Ashley fan club.
Fragmented sentences, undeveloped characters and no real storyline. This was a frustrating read that seemed like the broadest outlines of a story idea without any details. There was nothing remarkable about either character to warrant interest and I was completely turned off by how Knight spoke and the entire "daddy" mess. A complete waste of time and I wish I had DNF.
Loved this book, the story and the characters. Ms. Ashley does an astonishing job of developing the characters personalities and stays true to them throughout, especially Knight--a demanding task considering they are so unique. And he is unique, the epitome of bad boy goodness and sweetness.
One of the most beautiful declarations of love I've read: "The first voicemail you left me, babe, I saved it and I listen to it once a day. If I lose focus, I see you....And no matter what sh#$ goes down, I get through it knowin' whichever bed I climb into at night, you're in it ready to snuggle into me..."
My first Kristen Ashley book, and will immediately be starting Creed - the next in the series.
Also need to mention that it is "well-written"...there are SO many books out there that mutilate the language with poor grammar, punctuation, wrong word choice....it's endless. And I don't understand how any reader can give them 5 star ratings. No distractions!
Every facet of this read was entrancing and sublime!
I really wanted to rate this book higher, but I just couldn't. I'll admit I enjoyed the characters and there was something that made me keep reading even though I really didn't like the writing; however, on that note, this book is absolute garbage...and I mean that in all literal sense.
I read this book twice because I don't like giving bad reviews and I thought maybe I was missing something. Yet, the editing in this book is so poor it makes for a difficult read. In addition to that, I found myself re-reading phrases over and over trying to figure out what certain characters were saying because some sentences just don't make any sense.
Seriously, I'd like to get my money back, but there is nothing I can do about that now. On a good note, there were certain parts of the book I enjoyed. YES, there are some good qualities...and I like the "Daddy" parts. Still, those parts were probaby the ONLY good parts, and unfortunately those parts didn't take away for the bad editing.
I'll be wary to buy from this author again. Matter of fact, I will will never buy from this author again.
Now I have read Fifty Shades of Grey, The 2 books in the Crossfire series, all 3 book in the Up in the Air series. I must say I loved this book. It isn't as heavy in erotica as those mentioned but it has it.
I thought Knight was a butt in the beginning. The more you learned about him the more I loved him. He doesn't mess around. He takes care of what is his.He did just that with Anya.
Anya grew up without a mother and father and was left with her drunk aunt who told her she was dirt basically. So when Knight wanted Anya she didn't really understand. Anya tells it like it is and she don't mess around. She met Knight at a party when her phone died and she entered his room(which she didn't was his) to use his phone to call a taxi. Instead he took her home saw how she was living and decided to fix it for her. Funny how money talks for some people that and being roughed up.
That made my heart swell.I loved every page. I couldn't wait to see what else was going to happen. Kristen did very well for this type of book. I highly recommend this book.
Re-read again 2nd April - 3rd April 2018
I first read this back in 2012 and since then it’s become one of my go-to books.
I’m not going into a huge rant so don’t worry. I’ve given up on Kristen Ashley I no longer even glance at her new books after being disappointed one too many times. So now I stick to re-reading my favourites.
Anyway back to Knight.
I know a lot of readers don’t like this and while I appreciate a lot of the points made I love this book. That said even I cringed a little at the “Daddy” bits.
As with all of Kirsten’s books there’s a lot of great lines but this is my favourite. I think.
‘And, lastly, apparently the new intel was me, who had a face that could launch a thousand hard-ons. Not a flowery compliment, but still, it said it all even if it pulled no punches.’
This book is perfection! Whats not to love about a tough independent woman who is willing to give all of herself to a crazy hot alpha "Daddy." I love that Anya is a wonderfully submissive woman without being a doormat. She has dreams and goals and she is going after them. Knight has more than one side to him as well. He is very controlling and dominant but he is not a jerk. He loves and spoils Anya and wants to help her reach her dreams and goals.
All of the elements come together perfectly in this book. The characters were well developed and the story was well fleshed out.If you are looking for a quick sexy read and you love alpha men who aren't afraid to give a spanking or two, then I strongly urge you to read Knight! This is one that I know I will read over and over.
I didn't think it would be possible for Kristen Ashley's books to get sexier than they already were, but she proved me wrong with Knight, her foray into erotic romance. And man, did I enjoy being proven wrong!
Knight Sebring is the Ultimate Alpha! I wasn't sure if sweet, normal Anya was going to be woman enough for the walking, erotic dream that is Knight, but the further you get into this book the more you see that these two characters are absolutely perfect for each other in every way.
After reading Knight (a part of Ms. Ashley's Unfinished Hero series) I can honestly say that I've got some serious anxiety going waiting for her next erotic master piece. I CAN'T WAIT to drive head first into Creed once she publishes it.
If you are looking for a story with the perfect combination of romance, humor, suspense and smokin hott sex then Knight is definitely the way to go.
Review copy.
I am really liking Kristen Ashley 's novels. I enjoy reading about her crazy, over the top Alpha men. They can be seriously mean but never to the heroines. They are always seriously loving and patient but controlling with the heroines. I enjoyed reading about how things worked in Knights world. I would like to read more about how things work in Rhashan and Vivica's lifestyle. I am glad that Knight is not truly a pimp but a protector for women in a certain lifestyle. Even though Rhashan is not into kink he is into BDSM so maybe he should open a club that provides a safe environment for women who are in to that. I gave this story 5 stars because I read it more than once and then made up more adventures for them in my head. Would like stories about Nick, Sandrine, and. Knight's parents.
This was my first KA book and I really enjoyed it. Knight was definitely a hot alpha male and had it all! When him and Anya meet, she is just a normal girl, making the best of what she has and has some great friends! Then she meets Knight. ..
The story was great, I enjoyed it and I really liked he characters, the HOT scenes and the humour. To be honest I give it 4 stars because I just couldn't get into the whole 'Daddy' thing, it put me off a bit but otherwise I really enjoyed the story and will definitely read the others in the series.
Whenever we read books, we inherently find ourselves attracted to something in the book....it could be the sexy hero, the vibrant heroine, a strong secondary character or it could even be the scenery but there has to be something in a book that makes us continue to turn the page and read more. In Kristen Ashley's Knight, in the Unfinished Hero's series, the main character is my main attraction. Knight Sebring is who makes me turn the page; Knight Sebring keeps me glued to the book and Knight Sebring is what has made me reread this book 4 times.
I have fallen for Knight hard - yes people....I am in love with a fictional man - sad but true. My love affair for him started on page 4 as Anya, the heroine in Knight's world, describes him
He was tall. I had no idea how to describe how tall he was but the only word I could think of was "very". Very tall.
I was fascinated by it all but my attention was taken by his face. His features, even mostly in profile, were striking. Not perfection but so intensely masculine I'd never seen anything like it. It was almost unreal.
Part of me wanted to see him again. I was a woman and he was the kind of man a woman would look at. Any woman. No matter what their tastes ran to. He just attracted female attention and any woman would want a second look.
...I saw his eyes were blue. A strange, startling, dark, vibrant, Prussian blue. And they were beautiful, the color, the shape, the long, curving lashes.
...he leaned deep into me and I smelled that the aftershave or cologne was his. I was right. It was attractive. So attractive all I could do was stand still and take in that glorious scent.
And my love affair has yet to end.
Knight Sebring is a bad boy....you feel it, you sense it, you know it and Knight will not apologize for it...but ultimately you - like Anya - set it aside because within that bad boy façade is a loving, kind man. Knight may not be our version of good, normal and clean, but he has a heart and with that heart he takes care of all things Anya.
I will not lie, this book is not the greatest book ever written, and it is not the easiest to read either. Knight has a hard time speaking with the use of pronouns and it takes a while to pick up on how to read without them. Knight also has an affinity for the F word and likes to be called Daddy. Just overlook these things and give him a chance because I promise if you dig deep you will find that Knight Sebring is a man worth loving.
With that, I have compiled a list of some of my top lines or moments of this book. I hope when you read the book they too will make you smile, laugh or even sigh....
1. ...your face is a face that launches a thousand hard ons....
2. "You....do not...leave your house....dressed like that....without being on the arm of a man like me."
3. "Think it's a good idea we quit talkin' about my sheets."
4. "You run, you do your crunches, I don't give a f..k. But you lose any of that As s, those ti ts, those hips or your Buddha belly, just sayin', babe you lose me.'
5. "I find all this very confusing," I admitted cautiously.
"You get in my bed, I'll sort you out."
6. "But you're in my bed, my home, my ride, my club, you gotta get that I'm the man, yield to that and trust that I'll always take care of you."
7. "You don't need to like me to let me f..k you, but since I like you, I'd prefer it that way"
8. "Take one step to me, Nick, I run to Knight's room, lock myself in and I don't call 911. I call Knight." I warned as he straightened.
9. "You need a haircut honey"
"Uh...no," he said quietly back. "Every time I let you use your hands, you get excited, you fist them in my hair. I like to feel you get excited any way including that way. I start lookin' like a biker or a hippie, I'll go to the barber. Until then, my baby's got something to hold onto."
10. Jeans and heavy metal tee Knight Sunday
Hopefully the next time we meet, I will be sipping Lemon Drops at Slade with my main man Knight and my two main girls Red and Cherie.
Most of the book I was annoyed by the hero. His controlling behavior put me in mind of a spoiled brat who threw a fit to get his way. I also got a little nauseated by the use of "Daddy" as a term of endearment. This book seemed a lot about damaged childhoods and acting out roles. Interesting read, but not great if you're in the mood for mindless happy fluff.
I gave Knight 3.5
As I began reading Knight, I felt excited and almost giddy. I still consider myself a newbie when it comes to Kristen Ashley, Knight being my 7th book by her. I was excited as I had previously spent a lot of time in the Colorado Mountains and the setting of Knight had that fresh feel to it. Anya and Knight were based in the city and Knight was a business mogul, a very powerful one at that.
After an accidental meeting at a party, for some unbeknownst reason, Knight takes it upon himself to protect Anya and he wants to better her life. Of course, Anya is a feisty girl and she does’t take too well to the changes. But she soon learns there is no point going up against Knight, as he always gets what he wants.
“Is this you paying me attention, softening me up in order to get me to bed?”
“You’ll be in my bed, Anya,”
“You don’t need to like me to let me f*** you but since I like you, I’d prefer it that way.”
For the first 30% of the book, I was loving both Knight and Anya. They have all the makings of classic KA characters. Knight is brooding and all Alpha. Anya has dreams for herself and is working her butt off to make them happen. Their relationship was hotting up and things moved to the bedroom. Unfortunately, that’s when it went all downhill for me. This is my personal reading quirk, but I don't think Daddy belongs in the bedroom and when it was introduced between Anya and Knight, I cringed from head to toe. After speaking with a few other girls, it was good to get their thoughts on it. Each reaction is individual and personal. Some may not bat an eyelid, some may stop reading and some may laugh. I wouldn’t say this is a big enough reason for you not to check out the book. For me, it burst my bubble of sexy Knight and Anya getting it on.
“Roll you your back, you know how I like it. Offer that p***** to me. Daddy’s gonna lick you clean.”
“Then my Daddy licked me clean and made me come again doing it.” <—— I just… can’t…
When a book comes with a warning, oddly, it makes me want to read it more. I like to be challenged with my reading and my limits are pretty high, so I can pretty much read anything. Unfortunately the warning didn't live up to the content. Yes, Knight was controlling and he dominated in the bedroom but it wasn’t as dark as I was expecting or explicit for that matter. With that being said it was perhaps more explicit than KA’s other books and hence the warning for her readers used to her normal style. Knight knew his way around the bedroom but I would say Christian Grey’s crown won’t be getting knocked off any time soon. But the dirty talking? Yeah, Knight owned that.
“I’m gonna let you off me, Anya, then you’re gonna crawl into bed on your own, cheek to the mattress, ass in the air and feel lucky we are not at my place. You need a cane, at least a strap but all I got is my belt and that might mark you so you’re gonna take my hand.”
“Jesus, f***, baby,” Knight growled. “I like that. Gonna eat that. Gonna eat it clean.”
“You just gave yourself to me, that includes your p*****, your c***. It’s mine, Anya, you don’t touch it unless I tell you to. Even if you’re close and want it, you let me give it to you unless I wanna watch you helpin’ me. Clear?”
I thought the conflict was mellow, and I was expecting more. It was quickly resolved and didn’t leave a big impression. What I did like was Anya and Knight’s growing relationship. There were some tender moments between them and for an Alpha like Knight, it made it all the sweeter.
“You can’t cushion me from the entire world, Knight.”
“I can try.”
“You gotta know that every second I spend with you becomes more and more clear you were made for me. A gift I don’t deserve, didn’t earn but I’m not giving it back.”
“I closed my eyes tight then opened them and asked softly, “You love me?”
“Baby, you were made for me.”
“And that was just it, he’s given me so much. And it wasn’t talking phones, shoes and spas. I was safe. I was spoiled. I was adored. I was loved.”
I do enjoy Kristen Ashley’s books, her writing style is unique and her Alphas are memorable. I often find myself breaking up my current reads with a KA book, as I crave reading about a traditional Alpha. Knight is no exception and if you are a fan of Kristen’s work so far then you should check this one out. ~Ava
Overall, this was an interesting read. I enjoyed the alpha maleness of Knight. I liked their relationship and chemistry. I also enjoyed Viv and Rashan, and would like to read their story. I loved the ending.
What I didn't like:
1. Too much cursing and using God's name in vain. Totally unnecessary.
2. I didn't like the Daddy thing. I could see how this could be sexy in the right context, and sometimes it was. But, most of the time it brought up the wrong images in my mind, and that wasn't cool.
3. I was shocked at his profession.
I think it was a good read, though.
The Most Yummy Book Ever!
Okay, seriously! I wouldve given in too. They just fit so perfectly. Opened the book and from the first, I'll say, first 7 sentences I was in it till they end. Knight is so my kind of knight, the kind that makes my day so bright. He is devoted...devoted to whipping my enemy's behind from my past, present and future. Lol. He's so giving, so demanding. Hmm, and the things he say... so stinking delicious!
'This is the first book in Kristen Ashley's Unfinshed Heroes series, where bad boys rule supreme and the smexy factor has been raised to keep-a-spare-pair-of-knickers level. Knight Sebridge is first up. When
Anya first spots Knight at a party she didn't really want to go to and she is struck not just by his good looks, but by his ability to change the mood of a room just by being in it, and at the moment he was pissed off. But that wasn't the last she would see of Knight, after a chance meeting resulting in him taking her home, she can't stop thinking about him, dreaming about him, not realizing that Knight feels the same way and is determined to possess her any way he can...
Well Daddy... spank my *rse and call me Shirley! I loved this book! I wasn't quite sure what to expect as Kristen Ashley's heroes are normally pretty bad ass anyways, but Knight takes it that one step further and pushes what us readers would normally find acceptable. But after seeing Knight in action I couldn't help but love him, he was a little scary, a lot sexy but also kind of sweet. Anya was also really great, she didn't break the mould of a KA heroine, she was sexy but didn't know it, with a big heart and worked for what she wanted, I like her heroines so this wasn't a problem for me.
But apart from the hero being a more extreme version of her uber alpha males, this book also differs from her others by the amount and type of sex. It is more explicit and also has an edge of BD SM in the way Knight likes to have complete control. There were no clamps, whips, St Andrew's Crosses or play rooms, but there was a little spanking and alot of ordering around. And perhaps the most controversial thing that I know alot of people have been talking about, is his title of Daddy when they are having sex. I personally thought this was sexy as hell, just like I think "Sir" and "Master" are, but I know alot of people were put off by it. I say bring it on, Knight can be Daddy anytime he wants!
The only thing I would have liked more of was some action, I kept expecting, a kidnapping/drive by/orphaned children to show up and rock the boat a little, but it didn't happen, this book very much focused on the relationship between Knight and Anya.
A great book, Ms Ashley has me completed enthralled, I am a hopeless addict, I need a KA fix whenever I can get one!
3 out of 5 stars...
First lesson in this review is to pay close attention to your kindle when you click on a book. Basically, Kelly told me to read a specific book that she thought was great. (I am not going to tell you which one until we post the review, so get over it. J) Anyways, as I am reading I am thinking, "Was Kelly smoking crack while reading this book?" I mean we might have subtle differences in opinions, but not major. Ever! So, I called her. Basically, I am a moron and clicked the wrong book but didn't realize until I was already vested, so I decided to just finish it. The accidental book was Knight.
Ok, on to the review. The good stuff...this book was a quick read. It had some good characters. I loved the lead character, Anya Gage, because despite the fact she had a crap life she pulled herself up and makes something of herself with hard work and determination. I also love her friend, Viv. She is sassy and a tell it like it is person. I am a lot like that so I guess that's why I like her. Knight, the lead male character, (Love the name, right? It just sounds hot!) is a pretty predictable, millionaire, overprotective guy. He is ok, but some things he does just irritate me and therefore remove the sexiness for me. For example, he says "Yo". Not just once either, like all the time. Irritating! He also doesn't talk in complete sentences. Ever. Next, he refers to females as bitches, even Anya. And while I know I can be one at times, it's just not ok to call all women bitches all the time. Cause I am not one ALL the time. Basically, imagine reading the dialogue of Kanye West. Shoot. Me. Now. But the MOST annoying thing in the book for me, was the fact that he insisted that Anya call him Daddy. Ewh. Gross! Can we say disturbing? So anyway that is my beef with the characters.
As far as the story goes, it is pretty drama free and steamy. (If you can block out the whole Daddy thing!) I really didn't see much plot occurring, but some people enjoy those kinds of books. Occasionally, I can read that kind of story and veg out. I prefer a book with a few bumps in the road that eventually lead to a HEA. I will say this as well, I thought that I got this book on sale for like .99 so I wasn't too upset about not getting my moneys worth, but after examining my account, I saw it was $3.99. I do not think it was worth that, but if you could get it on sale go for it. In the end, it's all about what you like. So, don't take my word for it. See for yourself what you think, because as the saying goes, everyone has an opinion.
I'm not gonna lie when I say that I am terribly disappointed in this story because it was written by Kirsten Ashley and I loved, totally loved The Gamble!!!
I realize she has a thing for writing about extremely dominant manly men, and that's why I gravitated towards this novel.
I was also shocked at the semi false advertising, as I expected a dual POV or Knight's POV based on the summary, but instead I got none of that.
I got anxious at times but it seems for no good reason, because the outcome was less than stellar. It's like Anya didn't have an ounce of back bone in her ... the girl could be a submissive maybe even a slave if given the chance. She is too pliant ... in bed, ok ... but life?? .. win some battles miss!
All I learnt about Knight is that he is a controlling man with a crazy family and astounding side job! I get what it was suppose to symbolize, but the fact that he grew up so personally with it and it affected him dearly, he should have never got involve!!
It was the furthest thing from my mind, that when we introduced to his other job, I couldn't believe it because it was the the last thing I expected. Then his phenomenal sharing and messed up logic just killed it for me and the fact Anya just swallowed it up made me mad and just give up on the bunch!
I understand for a man as dominant as Knight to stand his ground and beliefs and so I found it hot when he decided about holidays and commitments. He might not be the sweetest of them all, but he knew the words to say in every situation and his acts of love were rough around more than the edges, but they were so him that you love them anyway! ... I love a character that stays true to themselves, and Knight did.
There was no rush, thrill and direct drama in this novel, unless being cultivated by Sandrine (nice name btw ...). I think we lived like how Knight wanted it, peaceful and without attention. If it wasn't for the few antics of Sandrine, we would have nothing. And the characters recounted those events so fast that they almost lost their meaning or impact.
This is not the BDSM book that you make it out or want it to be. Honestly, I even felt like Mrs. Ashley was shy or skittish when it came to the sex scenes. I am not one to complain about that as I loved the length and directness of these scenes, but for someone who expected all out BDSM sex ... it's vanilla with a hint of chocolate syrup!
Honestly, I don't even know why it was mention as a BDSM book, because YA novels have more action than the sex scenes in this novel.I guess it was the commands and submission ... honestly don't know.
We span around 2 years in this novel and a whole lot of things happened that seemed unrealistic and some very important meetings were omitted. Honestly, it never felt like two years to me by time we got to the epilogue. I still had so many questions, one being who is Creed and why wasn't he mentioned in book 1 but staring book 2 ... like idk ...
Still, I read this book in a whole day so to my psyche it couldn't have been that bad or maybe it's Mrs. Ashley's literary genius despite a barely attempted submissive novel. I love Mrs. Ashley for her long novels that are normally really good that you don't mind, and I found that again in this aspect, but I would have loved some life to be pumped into this book to take it somewhere great. Hopefully it gets better.
P.S. Totally clueless as to the title of the series ... no clue why he is an unfinished hero ... we never got his POV not once unless from Anya.
I really, really loved this and it is another very beautiful and captivating KA love story with a real badass alpha hero. But first, a caveat. This book is darker sexually than anything Kristen Ashley has published before. I wonder how long her creative fingers twitched at her keyboard yearning to write this but wondering what her fans would think. I loved it but it may not be for everyone. It is BDSM lite - there's no playrooms, toys or plugs but there is control, restraint and punishment - it is a dom/sub Daddy/baby relationship and it may not be everyone's cup of tea. But, if it is, you really are in for a treat.
I just couldn't put this down, it was so compelling. Knight is so captivating - he's protective, possessive, controlling, honest and a total drooltastic swoonworthy stud muffin. There's no pretences - he calls it as it is, tells Anya what he wants, how he wants it and when he wants it. Anya is his perfect other half - she's stunning but doesn't really know it, totally without guile and struggles with his control but eventually submits to him and it's beautiful.
They're like a broken heart necklace - two halves that complete each other. Knights knows this the first time he meets her but thinks he is just too badass for her and tries to talk away but circumstances put her back in his world and he can't resist and he totally and utterly claims her. I think I melted for the first time when he picked her up and carried her over a pile of coats the very first time he met her.
So, if you can handle the racier sexual side of this story, Knight is another Premier League badass KA alpha hero right up there with Tate Jackson, Joe Callaghan and Hawk Delgado - my personal favourite triumvirate! (Cue naughty giggle as my thoughts wander there!!)
5 stars erotic contemporary romance.
A few of my friends kept mentioning "Knight" as well as some of Kristen's other books. One of my friends enjoyed it so much she gifted me "Knight" with a note that I "had to read it asap". Wow, a gift and instructions!
There's a reason why this series is titled "Unfinished Hero". This isn't your traditional romance novel where the hero may have some issues, but then love redeems him. No, this is so not Knight! His methods are unconventional. Some are downright illegal actually, but he means well! He's loyal and protects not only what is his, but what's important to those that he cares about! He's really a nice guy; it's just how he goes about certain things that need some polishing. You will hear from some that have read the novel say "I didn't agree with how he handled certain things, but I really did like the book" or "I had issues with some of the things he did, but understood where he came from as I got to know him better". So again, this may not be what you're used to when we talk about heroes.
This is Kristen's first venture into Erotica. Though there are some very hot scenes, it's not a deep dive into erotica. Still, you'll be fanning yourself at how hot some of those steamy scenes are!! Yes, there is some BDSM in "Knight", however, it's rather tame compared to some of the recent novels that have been published. In fact, I believe it's a truer interpretation of what BDSM really encompasses vs. what many believe it to be based off of their recent reading list. I don't think it goes overboard. It makes sense to some extent based on how Knight is. He likes to be in control, in his daily life, his work life and his bedroom activities. However, he is straight forward with Anya from the very beginning and allows her to make her choices.
Speaking of Anya.... I didn't hate her! I actually liked her. Thought she could have been a little more firm with Knight at the beginning and hold her ground, but she wasn't a ditz or annoying at all. She was a character that I enjoyed getting to know better. What a relief! A heroine, who knew what she wanted, is strong, independent and wasn't whiny.
Back to Knight. What? The man is YUMMY!! He's hot and sexy. Smart! Sarcastic, loyal and protective! What's not to love? You just need to accept him entirely, the good with the bad, and know that he means well. In every relationship, there are compromises, in this case, Knight tells you exactly what he wants and how things need to be. No Games! No questions left unanswered. He tells you straight out. Refreshing actually!!
Here's a quote, gives you an idea of what you'll be getting into (Knight speaking to Anya):
"Wars fought over a face like this," he murmured like he was talking to himself, my heart stopped beating and his thumbs moved lightly across my cheeks. "A man would work himself into the ground for it, go down to his knees to beg to keep it, endure torture to protect it, take a bullet for it," his eyes came to mine, "poison his brother to possess a face like this."
― Kristen Ashley, Knight
Knight is a very intense character and the story between him and Anya is tense at the beginning but they find their rhythm and make things work! Kristen is known for the way she writes her male characters. Straight up Alphas! No apologies!
“Men understand direct communication. It’s bitches who talk in code”
First off, if you have any issues with anti-heroes, bad language, controlling behaviour and light BDSM content then DO NOT read this book.
Growing up being told you’re worthless is bound to affect anyone’s self esteem. Following a horrific carjacking where both her parents were killed, Anya Gage is sent to live with her Aunt, and spends the formative years of her life believing she is insignificant. Upon turning eighteen, she leaves her old life behind and throws everything she has into improving her life. Following a chance encounter with a handsome, but incredibly abrupt stranger, Anya becomes immersed in a world she had never dreamed of.
Being a huge fan of all of Kristen Ashley’s work, I was really excited to read this new series. Kristen is known for her alpha males and Knight does not disappoint. He speaks his mind – with more than a few expletives thrown in – and makes no apologies for who he is or how he lives his life.
Anya is a fantastic character in that she is completely believable. Okay, she may be slim and beautiful but she still has her own hang-ups about her little ‘budda belly’. In writing Anya in this way, Kristen says that she wants to encourage her Readers to love themselves whatever their size/shape. The fact that Kristen has gone to this much effort in her character development is a testament to her as an Author.
Following the explosion of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, it would appear that many Authors are addressing the ‘darker’ side of erotica. The light BDSM content in this book is such that it won’t offend those who have little knowledge of the subject but still proves enticing for Readers who love their sex scenes!
All in all, Knight is a great read; it encompasses all the typical KA elements whilst demonstrating that a leading male doesn’t have to be a good-guy to be a ‘good guy’.
I love this book and I love Kristen Ashley for writing a great story about a hot, controlling, alpha male named Knight. If you have never read a Kristen Ashley novel, you must. She is one of my top 5 favorite authors.
Was the story:
Corny - YES
Predictable - YES
Hot and Steamy - YES
The writing so, so - YES
NO real plot - YES
A lot of unnecessary swearing - Yes
Did I enjoy Knight - Hell Yes
A friend originally lent me this book. I loved it so much that I bought the book a month later and reread it. It was better the second time. There is something about this book that I just love. Knight is true alpha male and I find him appealing and sexy. I love him. Yes, there are some bad qualities in him, but I do not care. I am willing to overlook them because he is so awesome to Anya. He is my favorite Kristen Ashley male character.
-Did I skim? NO. The story did not drag at all.
-Did I feel connected to the characters? Yes
-Do I recommend? Yes
-Did I think about this book after I finished? Yes.
-Will I reread? Yes. I already read it twice.
-Ending/Cliffhanger? The ending and everything was awesome. It completed the story. I love Knight! *sigh*
-Pace of the Story: Perfect.
-Positives: Everything.
-Negative: That Knight and Anya do not have their own series. I want Knight and Anya to have their story continue. I know that they were mentioned and `appeared' in CREED, but I want more.
I do not understand why more people do not love this book. I see the mixed the reviews and cannot believe it. Are we reading the same book????
Gotta say i have never read a book quite like that. I never read Fifty Shades etc. I wasn't expecting to find the story like it was or to find it remotely entertaining. And (even more surprising) i was not repulsed. Generally if a novel takes a swing down certain roads i hit delete, but somehow this author was able to walk a line that was dangerous/scary and hot. Wew. Absolutely loved the two main characters. Amazing feat that this story was told in a such a way that the reader could feel empathy for the hero (given his career choice).
1st the style it is written in is very different than any book I have read before. I had to get familiar with it. The rhythm and speech was that different for me. Other than that it flowed smoothly.
Even though I prefer multi P.O.V. type formats this style allowed the main character, Anya, to be more real.
I am very impressed and will be exploring a lot more of her books. The writing literally makes the main characters JUMP off the pages!
I LOVED IT!!
This book was loaned to me through Lendle.
This book is a little different than a lot of other KA books. She does have a disclaimer on it saying that it is a bit more intense sexually than her other books although it is not erotica (per her disclaimer, I don't know what qualifies a book as such).
Most of KA's books have a heroine in distress at some point who finds herself in deep enough that she requires saving. This book doesn't have that and in fact, doesn't have much action at all. Anya is the heroine and she is essentially without family. She has been taking care of herself for a long time and is working hard to open her own spa. One of her friends convinces her to go to a party. Enter Knight. He is a night club owner and has decided he wants Anya. He has a few rules that Anya must agree to and if she does, he will (essentially) give her anything. I could tell that there was something we still didn't know about Knight as we moved through the book (and KA does not hide this as Knight is described as very private and tells Anya he will tell her about himself when he is ready). I actually guessed at what the secret was, and while Anya was ok with it, I am not sure that I would be. However, I am not Anya and don't have to be so for a story, I enjoyed it. I would relate Knight to Marcus (from Rock Chicks) the most. And KA does describe Knight as the anti-hero and he certainly is.
I did enjoy reading this (as evidenced by the fact that it took me only 2 days to read it), but it is not in my top list of KA books. I would have liked it better if there was a little more action, but I can understand that the author was trying something different.
I have heard a lot of great things about this author and her books and I am so glad they both worked for me too!
This one line sums up Knight by Kristen Ashley: "It's all I know, Anya. Protection. I was born then I was raised to be a shield."
5+ Knight and shining armor stars *******
No one, and I mean no one, does alpha-male like KA.
The possessiveness, the protectiveness, the dominance oozing from him, it was everything I could dream of and more!
I. Loved. Knight.
Yes, I'm talking about the book and the character.
I have read lots of KA, some I love, some I don't, but I will keep reading her because the one's I love...I really really love.
When I first started this, I pictured Knight as a man barely out of his teenage years, early twenties, maybe. By the time I was done, Knight was a freaking man. A real man. A real, alpha, possessive, protective, dominant, sexy, wonderful man.
Would I recommend it?
In a heartbeat.
Would I reread it?
Probably will tonight.
Is it worth 3.99?
That and more.
Read it, love it, love me for convincing you to love it, move on with your life, read it again, love it again.
Life is good, books are better.
This was my first Kristen Ashley book and got it because sounded like it was going to be about a hot alpha-male, um not really. The book description did warn that the was not a read for the lighthearted, but it wasn't for the reasons I was thinking.
Anya and Knight happen to meet one night at a party and for me, all of the warning signs to run were exhibited right there! So they end up hooking up, and boy does she put up with way more crap from him than any girl should.
The sex scenes are steamy, but then cold water is dumped on you when she calls him Daddy. I was almost done with the book the first time I read that as it creeped me out so much.
I kept on going and although Knight was an ass, he had this charming side that kept puling me back in to finish his story. So while I liked the story, there was maybe more alpha-male than I expected. To quote Artie Lange, "the creep meter was set to red" with the Daddy thing constantly perving up the hot scenes.
I say this because this author is very rare. She is a very talented writer with the ability to write many different kinds of books. Romance, crime, mystery, drama, check. This book is extreme for her. More along the 50 shades variety. If you are reading this book for the first time, strap in and enjoy it for what it is and then go back into her catalog and start with the Rock Chick Series. Its a great fun, romantic read. Nothing like this book. Shes a great author and recommend her for anyone who loves any kind of romance. She can write just about anything. Even the paranormal.
Ok...so this was my first Kristen Ashley book and it was ok.
I am not sure I can add anymore than the synopsis already says...
Anya is a girl with a past....her parents died tragically. So she grew up poor and emotionally abused, yet she never gave up in making herself something. She has been going to school and wants to open up her own spa.
She goes to a party with her friend (who is a gold digger and is out on the prowl). While there Anya decides that she wants to leave and enters into a bedroom to use the phone.
That is when she sees him...
Knight Sebring!!
He is dark and mysterious, he is controlling and protective, and he immediately has a connection with Anya. So this is about their relationship growing....He is so so sweet.
"Wars fought over a face like this," he murmured like he was talking to himself my heart stopped beating and his thumbs moved lightly across my cheeks. "A man would work himself to the ground for it, go down to his knees to beg to keep it, endure torture to protect it, take a bullet for it, " his eyes came to mine, "poison his brother to possess a face like this"
Swoon!! Wish someone would talk about my beauty like that....LoL!!
He finds Anya different than all the girls, According to Knight, Anya is:
"The girl in the corner, surveying the scene, playing it cool. You don't go to them. They come to you if they got the balls to do it which, my guess, they rarely do because they can't hack not cuttin' it and losin' the promise of you. You're the girl you take out to dinner. Get the good champagne. You pay her attention. Buy her some s*** that softens her up and makes her happy. Then you hope all that sweet turns wild when you get her in bed"
There may be some issues about the whole calling Knight "Daddy" and him being too controlling....I really didn't have a problem with it....I guess you just have to think about what makes you comfortable.
This is a domestic violence handbook. If someone were to ask me what "red flags" to look for in a man to spot potential abusers, I would hand them this book. Knight has all the signs of serious abuse issues, and Anya's the perfect co-dependent.
I have a few books by this author that are just fine. I even liked the first few chapters of this book, but then it fell down the rabbit hole and ended up in an awful place. Anya's backbone left town - never to return. In its place it left a wet noodle and a lot of exclamation points!!!! She was just so awful, mealy mouthed, disgustingly submissive in a really frightening way. More like a fawning sycophant who has absolutely zero personality. The things she agrees to, the things she is willing to take, would if we were friends be enough to recommend she go to therapy. And get a restraining order for this overbearing, potentially violent, domineering stalker with serious control issues. Oh, and he's also completely delusional. I would not want anyone I know to act this way, am shocked and alarmed by the awful advice given by her "friends". With friends like that, you are better off dead. 'Cause that's what you'll be if you stay with someone like this.
I admit I DID NOT FINISH IT. I just couldn't stomach one more word.
Which brings me to "babe". Babe, babe, babe, babe,babe. OMG! I have never seen anyone use a word that much. I don't know why anyone would write dialog like this. What's with the really bad Jersey Shore imitation that is Knight's accent? Soooo annoying. Perhaps that's explained later in the book, but I just can't read another word.
Again, I have enjoyed a book or two by this author so I'll read her again. But this. This was a miserable failure of a book.
This is definitely a super alpha hero with a submissive heroine book. I'm pretty sure if you like the whole motorcycle gang speak, domineering hero who is always right and knows what's always right for the heroine, a heroine who just goes with the flow, etc etc this book will be for you.
A few things just didn't jive with me personally in this book. I felt like things just unfolded without much conflict at least in the sections I read. I liked how the author built up the relationship emotionally for a while before they did the deed. But the relationship seemed a bit one sided. The hero spent a lot of time learning about the heroine and telling her all the things about her he was passionate about. The heroine didn't seem to be all that passionate about learning about the hero's background and was content with whatever crumbs he deigned to leave her. The reasons she liked him could be boiled down to "very masculine," "protective," "dominant." For someone who'd never experienced such a dominant relationship before, I was surprised but how little waves she made whenever there was something she didn't like about the relationship popped up.
Also, I just never really understood the appeal of motorcycle gang speak. If you're running successful legal and illegal businesses, rubbing shoulders with the powerful, shouldn't the heavy duty motorcycle gang speak be toned down by necessity at times? Speaking constantly in a difficult to understand slang vernacular indicates to me that the characters live in a very insular world which seems unrealistic. But yes, this is a fantasy and I don't hang out with a lot of motorcycle gang peeps, so this is probably me being ignorant.
Finally, when the main characters started to call each other "baby" and "Daddy" in the same conversation while getting hot and heavy, that just didn't float my boat and I couldn't go on. I'm sure this type of endearment is quite common, but it started to cross the border into uncomfortable territory for me.
This book was incredible. While I wasn't to crazy about the fact that he wouldn't give her a wedding legally wise i understood. Their relationship was Rocky at first but I'm the end things worked out for the best.
If this is your first Ashley novel...STOP! Don't read it. Her other books are so much better. This was a disappointment. I am a big KA fan and have read many of her books, well 15 to be exact. This series was definitely not her best. I am always thrilled when a favorite author branches out and tries something new. She decided to try her hand at erotica and write about a very flawed alpha male, an anti-hero. I was all good with that. The erotica was mild and the anti-hero a badass. The writing, however, was terrible! It's on a 4th grade level, at best. Knight's vocabulary was so stupidly ridiculous that it was hard to take him seriously. Ashley made him sound like a thug and moron! The man single-handedly runs three very challenging businesses, successfully, very successfully. He is mega wealthy. So clearly he's not an idiot but you'd never know it from his speech. I liked him, I really did, but every time he opened his mouth, I cringed. And another thing, I have read many erotica books and NEVER has the dominant made a submissive call him DADDY. It was GROSS! They were getting hot and heavy in the bedroom, it was a total turn-on then she screams yes, daddy! Every time single time. Totally ruined the moment. I think of my kids calling my husband daddy and it's like a cold shower. It's just wrong. I'm okay with him calling her baby, but not her calling him daddy. It sounded so stupid! At one point I just laughed out loud at the absurdity. So overall, I liked the premise of the book and I even I liked the characters she created, but the speaking parts were atrocious. It was hard getting past them.
If you haven't read a KA novel, try the Coloado Mountain Series, or the Three Series. Happy reading!
So this is a hard book to rate for me. I would say more like a 3.5. I loved the first half of the book and the mystery that surrounded Knight. Then the "Daddy" and "Baby" endearments started. It was so irritating. I really liked Knight's character although when he spoke he tended to run on and talk in what was like riddles. I would have to go back and re-read slowly to comprehend the point he was trying to express. Thank God for the epilogue because if that wasn't present, I wouldn't have been happy with how the book ended.
I've read a few other books by Kristen Ashley and really enjoyed those. this one wasn't all that well rated for one of her books, but i chose to read it anyway since i wanted to read the second in this series. it was not my favorite. the h & h met and immediately she was in his control. i guess i'm a bit too independent to give up control in all aspects of my life. I didn't really like the main characters
What we have in Knight is a simple, somewhat Mary Sue heroine who isn't impressed by money or flash. Anya Gage wants to make her own way through life and is a hard worker who has an unfortunate past (it really isn't all that damaging, unless you count her nasty bitch of an aunt who took her in after her wonderful parents were killed in an accident, and giving her self esteem body issues as a big thing) She works while going to school to get her beautician license so she can become a hairdresser, manicurist, facial expert, what have you. Her dream is to open a spa in Denver, Colorado where she lives. One night Anya goes to a party with her spoiled, daddy's girl friend with the strange name of Sandrine. Anya feels out of place because all the women there are beautiful, with no "Buddha belly" to speak of, unlike her (although she wears tight dresses for the most part that no woman with a "Buddha belly" would ever think of wearing) in her second hand knock off clothes. Sandrine is on the prowl to get her claws in Nick Sebring, some high roller jerk. Anya is pretty much over the party and wants to leave, but since Sandrine is going to get some hot screwing from Nick the jerk, who in turns invites Anya to join him and Sandrine in a threesome, she is beyond disgusted. She searched for her coat and because her cheap cell phone dies on her as she calls a taxi, she finds one in another bedroom. She's caught with the cell phone by Nick's brother Knight since it's his bedroom she has invaded.
Knight is more than angry at Nick, but doesn't take it out on Anya. He'll drive her home and doesn't take the word "no" for an answer (very important to keep in mind for later). Anya is not down with Knight's high handed ways, but he's her way to leave unscathed, and he's handsome and considerate to her needs. Knight drops her off at her broken down apartment building in a less than desirable neighbor, where he scopes out her apartment to make sure no one has broke in and is waiting in her closet to attack her.
Anya thinks she'll never see Knight again. But she's wrong. Knight sends her a very expensive cell phone, and when she tries to return it, he gets broody and cranky in his own caveman type way. You'll come to understand Knight's broody crankiness better as the story progresses. Knight ends up fixing other problems for Anya with her apartment building, her lazy super and her icky perv of a neighbor. And then Sandrine and her other friend Viv go to the hottest club in Denver that coincidentally Knight owns. Nick is there, and Sandrine and him get into a tussle because he's a man-ho who used her. Knight comes to Anya's rescues after Nick puts the slimy moves on her. From the moment on, Knight has "claimed" Anya as his own. It was fate that they kept coming in contact and it's obvious they're meant to be together. Anya does her best to refuse, but Knight laughs that off and he'll seduce Anya and give her many mighty O's where she'll be gushing all over the sheets and calling him the pet name of "daddy" during sex while he calls her "baby" intermixed with far too many "F" bombs and "C" bombs to keep count of. Knight also coerces Anya, or playfully threatens some hot BDSM loving on her, which is more telling than showing..
Knight almost follows the Fifty Shades of Grey formula but makes sure to throw in some unique tropes when it comes to the characters. Anya is in her late twenties, while Knight is older. Knight is a big old snuggle teddy bear, but a total gangsta as he uses street lingo. As to what streets, I couldn't really tell you. Inner city Denverspeak if there is such a thing? Other than Anya, everyone talks this gangsta type lingo and at times it became tiresome and tedious. Knight comes across as some underworld mob boss, but one with his own set of morals. He's protective of the people who work for him and is very generous, far too generous where Anya is concerned by buying her expensive clothes to make up for her second hand thrift shop ones, a new car, cooking her high end meals, and even as going as far as buying her spa business for her. Knight is very, very generous in bed. Their sex has a large amount of fluids dripping and crude and dirty language from Knight to excite Anya. Knight's use of "daddy" as in Anya calling him that during sex seems to fit, as strange as it may sound. Daddy and Baby coochie choochie O's a plenty here.
Knight reminded me of Terrible from Stacia Kane'sDownside Ghost series, but where as Terrible's colloquialisms are smooth and fitting; Knight's feels forced and it grated on my nerves. I couldn't figure out why Knight spoke this way, as what some will come to think as ghetto. It just didn't seem to fit. It's played up so much so, and beyond glaring. As for Anya, I found her dull as dishwater. She's too one-dimensional and a big contradiction. I couldn't wrap my head about her. I really wanted to jump out of her head and into Knight's because even with my issues, I found him to be a fascinating character. There's really not much tension and action. This story is more character driven with long winded speeches and internal monologue from Anya. Although some of the dialogue made me laugh, especially from Knight.
Kristen states in her author's note at the beginning that Knight is an anti-hero. This is because of one of his jobs that will put a bad taste in reader's mouth and be a deal breaker for some.
This is a big spoiler...
Knight is a pimp daddy in truth. He's in charge of "protecting" escorts and prostitutes he took over from a nasty, oily pimp type business man. Knight takes a cut for his services and he's such a good guy for doing so because he treats his "fifty seven bitches", as he calls them, with respect. When Anya finds out, she doesn't run in the opposite direction, not that I expected her to because she's so head over heels in love with her Daddy Knight. His explanation for being a pimp, which IMO, wasn't really needed and comes out of left field, is an impassioned one but falls flat for me. It's like Kristen needed one last thing to cement this "anti-hero" philosophy, but still give that care bear, pot of gold at the end of the rainbow HEA we all need as romance readers.
I can see why some think Kristen's writing is like crack. Knight was enjoyable to a certain point and the character of Knight is very different from what I'm used to in my romantic heroes. But Knight needs a heavy dose of editing and toning down the over the top tropes regarding Knight's uber caveman alpha nature and the ridiculous border line cheesy erotic love scenes. Also using "F" bombs" or "C" bombs during sex, mainly from Knight, does not make a romance erotic. I was in "F" overload from all sides from Knight saying it and doing it to Anya. Total buzzkill when all is said in done.
Knight.. umm he had me going at first I loved his controlling, i'm not taking no for an answer attitude and how protective her was. However with any strong ALPHA it's imperitive to have a strong female character (In my opinion). The main chick in this book Anaya #FAILED heavy at being strong. I was so annoyed with how much she just went with the flow and said "okay" to EVERYTHING he said. Are you kidding me ? It was not realistic or relatable to me at all. This guy was all nosey up in her koolaid but failed to let her in and she didn't put up a fight at all just said, okay. Ugh.. It caused me not to really connect with the characters because I didn't feel like their story had a strong character/relationship development. Once he said she was his that was it. I am all about being a good submissive to an alpha man BUT put up a fight girl! You don't just submit off jump without questions AND then when you found out his "secret" (which has been in your face the whole time you just say," okay." No Maam.
OH! And another thing i'm all about role playing but the use of "Daddy" in this book was disturbing. again No Maam..
Sometimes knowing in advance works for me in a manner I can overlook the things I don't like and still enjoy the story. Honestly, I totally get that the elements I don't like (Knight's business, his extreme control) are part and parcel that make the story. The only thing that I just couldn't get past is the "Daddy". So, while Knight isn't my favorite character, I do get where he's coming from, but the whole Daddy thing is just too over-the-top for me. I still love KA's books, some more than others, and that's just the way it goes.
I loved the beginning all the way to where we meet Knight. I was completely thrown because he is seems so ... um... gangster? haha... its the way he talks.... he sounds... kinda stupid. I figured, what the heck.. I'll keep reading. I got about half way through the book and I just couldnt take the dialog anymore. Anya is so.... oh ... my... god.. yes... all the time and he has no english skills, lol. Once they started doing the daddy thing in bed, I gave up. It's just not for me, but enjoy it anyways!
Nobody can write the true alpha male quite like Kristen Ashely! I Absolutely loved Knight and Anya. Knight is the epitome of true bad assed holy smokes hotness! I loved how over protective he was of her without really knowing much about her, then when he did he wanted to help right those wrongs done to her.
The supporting characters were brilliant as well, except I think Sandrine pissed me off quite often. Loved Viv and really liked that she was able to find her alpha as well, and of course Knight got her that.
I love the dialogue between Anya and Knight, several times during their conversations my heart would melt to a puddle at my feet! Knight definitely has a way with words!
This one is on my favorites shelf, as well as several others from Kristen Ashley, and I have every intention of reading every book she's ever written!
Knight and Anya had tough lives and together they made sense, the plot was a slight variation of the usual an while it was good I had issues with the writing a bit. The heroines thoughts where a bit....uneducated? Maybe naive? Or a bit immature? I can't think of the right word but I had a had time connecting with her. Knight was a bit crass, he for the most part did not speak in full grammatically correct sentences and the words he used took away from the romance for me. I can understand talking dirty in the bedroom but "daddy" did not do it for me and killed the steamy scenes.
As someone new to KA, I don't really have the background or the experience of her other novels to be upset about Knight. And when I heard KA was doing an anti-hero type of character, I said, count me in! Because if there's one thing I love, it's the raw, gritty and unpolished hero, a hero who would do absolutely anything, legal or illegal, for his baby. I also think KA put a great name to this series, too -- 'unifinished' speaks to everything I love in a darker hero, a hero not easily understood or accepted, maybe a knight whose armor might need a little polishing.
KA calls Knight a "gorgeous, scary psychopath," and not everyone will go for that guy. I can see how other readers might not go for his lifestyle or his way of earning money, or for his dominating attitude, and I'm not judging that. I can totally see that, and to each, her own. But I did dig this hero, a lot. Even that whole daddy/baby thing spoke to my kinky soul. Regarding his lifestyle, I didn't mind that seamier side to him. I read a lot of dark erotica/dark romance with dark and shady heroes who have rough edges and sharp angles. Sometimes you just want a rough and ready kind of man, and Knight is that man.
How can I not love a man who asks, "Who... owns... you?" And when Anya whispers that he owns her, Knight comes back even harder with, "I f*****' do. Every inch, Anya. Every f*****' inch." That more than gets the job done for me. That kind of hero with that kind of talk gets me on every level. It's so basic and elemental; very dominating and controlling; so delicious and sexy. And there are even more lines like that, even better lines, especially the sweet ones, that Knight delivers with hard and gritty sexiness.
I did think some parts of the story were a little slow-moving, and I have to be honest and say that I had a time getting used to KA's writing style at first. It is very different, almost like a stream of consciousness type exercise. I generally like a long sentence, but I do like it tight as well. KA writes kind all over the place, but she does take you someplace in the end, someplace good and hot. She pulled me into Knight and Anya's story, but who am I kidding? Knight is the very reason I read the book.
But about Anya, I do like that she is a curvy heroine, full on top and bottom, and with a little buddha belly. I also liked her almost innocent demeanor and her desire to submit to Knight. It may seem that she said 'okay' too much to him, going along with his demands, but if you look at it, and if you imagine that tall, dark and handsome force of nature commanding you, then, I think, we can appreciate her need to give in. I don't know about you, but I'd be yes sirring the man all over the bed, and out of bed, too.
If you like a longer book (443 kindle pages) and if you love an imperfect hero who is on the wrong side of the law; if you love a bossy alpha male hero with a caveman mentality of what he says goes and then you obey him, then Knight is the man for you. He won't be palatable to every reader or to every woman. He's an acquired taste, I guess you could say. But boy, was he yummy. He's a man who wants to own you, to possess you. A very un-PC hero, but so dayum hot. And very much sweet in his own way.
I would call this light to medium bdsm: some spanking with hand and strap, some light bondage (like with scarves tied to the headboard), but mainly it was the discipline and that dominating and controlling attitude of his that was so scary sexy; also, some unbelievably erotic dirty-talk with the daddy and baby stuff.
10 Stars. Gripping, adult fairy tale. Engaging and sympathetic heroine. Deeply rich drawn alpha anti-hero - lovely brutish controlling persona but also a natural guardian and caretaker/nurturer, thus his name. Unusual and unique storyline. Author never faltered or lost the voice of her well-drawn characters. Real people have flaws and traumatic experiences.
Love everything Kristen Ashley writes so much I can't stop till the end of a series.
Knight is a hot club owner, Anya works hard for everything she has. They meet at a party and cannot deny their attraction as much as they fight it. Intense, alpha, Sexy, hot read!! Love!!!
This is the book i wanted Shades of Grey to be. I love Erotic Romance, especially BDSM. When Shades of Grey came out i was reluctant. I read it because everyone around me was reading it. It was an okay series. This book blew it away. It was more realistic. She learned to understand him, learned from mistakes made. I borrowed this book on Lendle. I will be buying it, as i know i will want to read it again. I read a lot. Until recently i had never read any books i would want to read again, especially that i would want to read again soon. So far the books of Kallyspo Masters and Cherise Sinclair are on that list, and now this book. Great job, i look forward to the next book in the Unfinished Hero Series.
This is my second Kristen Ashley book and I have to say it didn't live up to my expectations. When I first started reading it I was hooked and I couldn't wait to see how bad Knight was going to be but then it all went a bit boring. Knight wasn't really that bad in my opinion I was hoping for a lot more bad behaviour from him. This book was also meant to be more erotic than other Kristen Ashley books and also contain BDSM scenes but I didn't think it was erotic at all really and the BDSM was very light. If this is what you are looking for in the book I think you will be disappointed. Knight also reminded me of Fifty Shades of Grey with the controlling handsome rich guy with the troubled past and the beautiful but she doesn't realise it wholesome nice girl.
Saying all of this I really liked Knight as a character even though he wasn't who I thought I was going to get, I also liked Anya too. I have to mention the language used as well. I had read some reviews before reading the book so I knew that Anya starts calling knight Daddy and I thought this would really put me off but it didn't. I didn't particularly like her calling him that but I didn't dislike it too. However what I did not like at all was the street speak, of calling Anya's friends bitches (not even in a nasty way just a casual way instead of call you friend it was call your bitch) and using the word jacked all the time. This just didn't seem to sit with the characters for me and I don't know anyone who talks like this but hey what do I know.
I seem to have concentrated more on the negative view points here more than positive. I did enjoy the book I just didn't love it. It didn't live up to my hopes and expectations but I would still read it knowing that. I am going to give Knight 3 stars.
I don't understand the good reviews. I got till right after she tells a co-worker she has a new boyfriend. I had to stop after that. I LOVE a good anti hero, and alpha male "romance" but this was different. He was none of that, there was very little character development no progression. Just boom she's his girl. The descriptions are drawn out and over done, describing things that have no baring on the story. The long monologues are ridiculous. Also the over use of comma's. I'm the first to admit my lack of good grammar, but she used commas like her life depended on how many she used. I love the idea of a man swooping in and "saving" the gal, but this was just some a-hole who has some serious issues with safety and a girl who seems like she's smart but is ultimately very dumb.Granted, I might have found out why he has these issues, but then the author would have had to write a interesting and page turning story for me to want to read. She did not do that.
Holy freakin' hotness.
So, I'm thinking I might need therapy some time soon. I'm beginning to get slightly depressed that men are just sooo much better in books than they are in real life! Especially in KA books!
Knight. Oh. My. Actual. God! Where does she come up with this stuff?! Knight is the ultimate alpha! And he's called Knight!!!
"Um, I don't know your name but -"
"Knight,"
"Right, Mr. Knight-"
"No, Knight."
"That's what I said, Knight. Now, Mr. Knight-"
"No, not Mr. Knight. Knight. My name is Knight."
"Your Christian name is Knight?"
"If that means first name, yeah."
"With a `K'?"
"Yeah, babe, with a `K'."
"That's an unusual name."
"Yeah."
"I kind of like it."
"I can die happy."
And why, oh why, do I want to bow down and lick the flesh of a man who is, by his own admission, violent, controlling and runs in a world of corruption and badness?!!! It's wrong. I know that my moral compass is askew and I'm feeling that I should feel bad about that. But I totally don't.
Ok, let's lay it out... if my actual-real-life boyfriend went out and had someone beaten-the-s***-out-of for me, yeh, I would flip my s***. If he told me I wasn't allowed to dance on a dance floor in a club, again, serious diva stropping would ensue! But this isn't real life, right?
This is a hot, alpha male, dominant man, fantasy book boyfriend and that makes it okay for me to love Knight.
And I do. I really really do. I love Knight Sebring. He is possibly one of my favourite alpha males. Ev-er!
"I find all of this very confusing."
"You get in my bed, I'll sort you out."
"You're that good?"
"Yeah, I am, baby. I will take care of you there in all the ways you need me to do it. That I can guarantee."
So, let's talk about 'Knight'. The book, not the character. Anya is skint. She works hard for the little money she earns, lives in a sub-standard apartment, has a day job, an evening job and goes to school. Her world is turned upside down when she accidentally wanders into Knight's room and p***es him off! Still, even p***ed he can't ignore how attracted he is to her.
"Babe, your clothes. S***. But you work `em and you do because you've got one serious fantastic body, your hair is even better and your face is a face that launches a thousand hard-ons."
After trying to stay away, cut a long story short, he can't and eventually Anya finds herself in a relationship she never saw coming and isn't sure she even agreed to. But, again, she can't deny that she is attracted to and intrigued by the mean and moody Knight. And so it begins...
"I get this this is intense because I'm intense, that's the whole f***in' deal. I get it'll take you a while to get used to it. But you want it. F***, you even like it. You just don't understand it yet. But you will."
This book really seems to have split opinions right down the middle, so, naturally, I was curious. I know a lot of people really didn't like the way Knight speaks, the way he is with Anya, etc. Also, he calls Anya his baby and has her call him `Daddy'... now, I will admit, this is something I am not entirely comfortable with. The whole 'Daddy' thing does not do it for me. In the slightest. However, I kind of just looked past it... it's part of Anya and Knight and it works for them. Just because it doesn't tickle my pickle, doesn't mean I can't enjoy their story.
I also get why people might have problems with Knight. He is controlling to the point of it being totally wrong!
And Anya just kind of gets on with it. Again, I have to stress, just because I enjoyed this book, it doesn't mean I condone this type of behaviour in real life. But there is no getting away from the fact that I found Knight hot as all get out! He can also be soooo incredibly sweet.
"Toasted almond pancakes. Sweet soft `okays'. Makin' me laugh more in a few weeks than I have in decades. `Yes, Daddys' I feel in my d***. The first voicemail you left me, babe, I saved it and I listen to it once a day. If I lose focus, I see you on your back, knees high, legs wide, offering your sweet, wet pussy to me. You smile at me in bed every time you wander outta my bedroom in my shirts, my tees or your work clothes and honest to Christ, it sets me up for the day. And no matter what s*** goes down, I get through it knowin' whichever bed I climb into at night, you're in it ready to snuggle into me or give me what I wanna take. Your girl, a headache. You, never. And in a life that's been full of headaches, babe, having that, there is no price tag. You gotta get it and do it right f***in' now that there's a lotta different kinds of give and take. And you give as good as you get, baby, trust me."
And I almost melted when he said...
"She's beautiful, Dad. You see her, you won't believe your eyes. You'll think you're dreamin'."
This book was kinda like Kristen Ashley's very own Fifty Shades. Knight is Christian Grey, badass KA style! And if that doesn't send you into a spin... I don't know what will?!
"You please me, I'll please you. You do what I tell you to do, I'll take care of you. You disobey me or act out, I'll punish you then I'll take care of you."
Filthy rich, night-club and real estate owning, impeccably dressed, demanding, moody, likes-to-tie-you-up-and-spank-you, not-very-likeable-atall, but totally, undeniably hotter than hades... ringing any bells? That's Knight. Well, and Christian Grey... but, right now, this is Knight.
For Kristen Ashley virgins... you neeeeed to read these books! KA is the Goddess of writing s*** hot alpha badboys. Her writing is so identifiable and it can take a little bit of getting used to. KA character's dialogue is instantly recognisable and a little confusing at times. But so soooo good. Seriously. Get some KA in your life.
"You don't f*** Knight. No way. Knight f***s you."
And out of all her books, I think this might just be my favourite!! I can't wait to read Creed and Raid!
I really wanted to like this book BUT the writing, language style and slang were just WAY off. I had to re-read sentences several times to get what point was trying to be made.
I use to different writing styles and slang but this....
And to call the lead man "daddy", uh no. Just no. Especially while in the mist of "the deed". *shivers*
Admittedly Knight is swoon worthy but he rambled and rambled and rambled.
First I'll say I've read all of Kristen's other books, (other than Mathilda, Superwitch) and absolutely loved them all. This book is definitely spicier than the others, but it was a welcome turn. I will add that I also read Lora Leigh and many others, so spicy and an alpha male being super-alpha just works for me. Just like Marcus with Daisy, from the Rock Chick series...Knight may not be considered the classic good guy, but he's got his own code and he'd do anything for the woman he loves. If you're looking for a clear cut white-hat guy or you think KA's novels are too spicy already, then this story isn't for you. Knight is a grey-hat and some might even call him dark grey, but he has reasons for who he is and 'the love of a good woman' does not make him change into a redeemed hero whose actions are viewed as 'good' by everyone. I think this is a fantastic start to a new series and the steamier tone and darker vibe, that still showed great characters with deep love for each other worked amazingly well for me.
One thing to note (which Kristen also disclosed, is that this book is significantly shorter than her other novels. I will say that it still felt complete and did not feel like a novella, even though I was (of course) disappointed when it was over.
I can't wait for the next book in this series and I hope it's even longer, now that it's hopefully confirmed that the audience is there for it. This one is probably up there as one of my favorites, Three Wishes (which at first I didn't think was one I wanted to read and then read out of KA book withdrawal, only to find out it did end up being one of my favorite Kristen Ashley novels.
If you're a KA fan and you're not afraid of the steam becoming steamier and an alpha male that's even more dominant, and a little dark, then you should buy this book (yesterday!). Even though it's shorter, as much as you'd love it to be a longer story, you won't feel like you do for some novellas, where you didn't get your money's worth. It's a great story that feels absolutely complete and you really do get your money's worth, even though your KA addiction makes you want more! :)
I have read all four of her unfinished heroes, they are amazing! I couldn't put them down and was very disappointed that this series ended! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she find another unfinished hero to write about for us that absolutely love her stories!!!
I didn't really enjoy this book at all. For me, it is a complete turn-off for Anya to call Knight daddy while they are having sex. Just not comfortable at all ....ewwww! I tried to like this book so much but to find out what knight really did for a living... just don't feel happy with the storyline morally and for Anya to just accept it seems so far fetched. I normally love all of kristen Ashley's work so for me to rate this so low was out if the ordinary. Hope her next book is back on track and up to her usual high standards.
KA is one of my absolute favorite authors, I LOVE her books, every single one of them, the woman is amazingly talented and creates stories you will never forget and you will want to re-read again and again!!!
This book is AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL and very very HOT!!
What did I love about Anya:
She was open, honest, beautiful, sweet and knew her own mind. She wasn't afraid of going for what she wanted and she loved Knight despite his "flaws".....I LOVED Anya and how Anya loved in return...Oh and she calls her round tummy her "Buddha Belly"....CUTE!!!!
What did I love about Knight?
Absolutely EVERYTHING...Knight has it ALL. Pure unedited alpha HOTNESS. He has style, class, he is protective, possessive, shows pure aggression and he is the ultimate fantasy...
Knight is not a "typical" KA hero in the fact that he is what is termed an "anti hero", his profession is questionable but he "runs" it with good intentions and for admirable reasons.....
His relationship with Anya is beautiful; he is protective of her exposure to his daily life, he strives to to provide for her, and he loves her with a passion and she him!
This book is a new venture for KA into erotic romance and I applaud her for taking that step and I admire her for trying a different direction with her new series...I CANNOT wait for the next book in this series because I personally loved the fact that Knight was different...it was refreshing and thought provoking as well as BLOODY HOT!!!!
This is so not my usual thing, but I got sucked into the character and the story. Almost everything about it worked for me. I would have given it a five, but I couldn't handle the "Daddy" thing and I hated the ending/epilogue. Hated it enough that I almost made this rating a three based solely on that. Still - I'll read more by this author, mostly because she dares to be a little different (even though the subject isn't dear to my heart if you know what I mean) and that makes her much more interesting than the usual vanilla romances. Nicely done.
I have read this several times since getting it last year. I like most KA books but I loved this one. Knight is a bad bad boy and the sex is hot. Really! The two complaints I have read in reviews 1) a small aspect of his business....this was a couple pages and explained well 2) the daddy bit...Not done much differently than an usher song. Not age pay. Just sexy!
