One knows where J. Scott Fizgerald got the idea for The Great Gatsby story. He lived the life of a struggling author and also the crazy live of the jazz age with the drinking and parting the night away. The book gives a glimps of the expatriates in France in the twenties and before the world war two. He married in the states and moved to Paris for that is where the american artist and authors were. He struggled writing for magazines, short stories etc but he was envious of the monied crowd . He loved his wife but there was friction becaue of the life style, new baby and eventually he cheated ,par for the course in that wild jazz age. It was a glittery age before most of us were born so it holds ones interest for we see a age that is so different from the times after the war. Catherine Hollo

Movie version has a significantly more detailed & developed story liNE. But the differences in the story liNE are great not sure which actual story liNE I would have preferred if the book were just as developed.

Found this movie very intresting indeed. I especially enjoyed the nearly 4 hours on the DVD of 'the making of'. Fascinating stuff they are doing with movies these days. Brad Pitt was stupendous as always! Brad Pitt for Mayor!! Found the short story good but not as fascinating as the movie!

I chose this version of the book, because I thought the cover art looked neat. I didn't notice in the description that it was a graphic novel. It's not a complete letdown, but I would have preferred the novel in classic form.

Not quite like the movie except for the beginning
and ending.
The F. Scott Fitzgerald short story can be read in 20 minutes or less.
Why he ever wrote the story is beyond me as it leaves you amazed
with its nonsense.
Actually all things considered the movie itself was not half bad.

Tales of the Jazz Age: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Diamond As Big As The Ritz, My Last Flappers & more (mobi)
I'm sorry to report that there is at least one error in the MobileReference edition of Tales of The Jazz Age in the Jelly-Bean story, and that it mirrors the same error I found in the public domain editions.
In the paragraph that begins with, "In the twilight of one April evening when a soft gray had drifted down...," this sentence is truncated: "His mind was working persistently on a problem that had held his attention for an."
I bought this MobileReference edition based upon the publisher's post and claim of no errors in this thread. It's no big deal ("To err is human...."), but I'll be asking for a refund of my 99 cents.
