Hugh Howey always fulfills my desire to be entertained with a good story. This time he focuses on a future in which man has depleted the world of much of our ocean life. And it is a story of redemption. Hugh is a good storyteller.

I chose three statehouse I like Hugh Howey, not so much this book. I've loved everything else he has written and I've always wished for more of a love affair in his books. I guess I should be careful what I wish for. Sometimes what you think you want isn't at all what you imagined. I didn't fall in love with Maya or Ness. Nothing seemed real to me like in his other books. I still love Hugh and will continue to buy his books though.

Just finished the book. Not like his others. Hugh is a literary genius. This book shows that. The fact that he can change his usual genre and make it that f#)@ing good? Thank you Hugh. Thank you. You make life more enjoyable.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Hugh Howey has become one of my favorite authors thanks in no small part to his gorgeous prose. His skill at drawing the reader in and making you feel everything with his characters is nearly unmatched. And I always feel smarter for reading his books too, which is a nice bonus. Loved this one!

Hugh Howey is an accomplished storyteller, and it's hard to go wrong reading any of his works. I gave 4-stars because this story didn't grab me as fully as his previous novels (Wool, Molly Fyde, Sand). But The Shell Collector is still well worth a read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Delightful story! It was a little difficult for me to get into in the beginning, but once I did I didn't want to put it down. I thought I knew where the story was going, and really hoped I was correct. I was NOT disappointed.

I don't personally like social media but every time I read a book by Hugh Howey it makes me rethink it all, just for a moment. I LOVED the shell collector and couldn't put it down until I finished it!!! Big Big fan, I wish I could have selective memory loss so I could read all of his work all over again hehe... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

There are few authors that have the ability to write truly diverse novels that are equally riveting, but Hugh Howey is one of them. I have yet to read a book of his that I didn't love, that didn't make me feel something deeply, and the Shell Collector did it again. If only there were more writers like him out there, I wouldn't have to wait so long between exceptional books.

"The Shell Collector" is a very enjoyable book, easy to read and interesting. The premise is believable as are the characters. I found myself eager to read this story, wanting to know where it was going. Even though I found some aspects a little predictable and one small part seemed a little forced, the story as a whole was not predictable or forced. I will recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good stories and I will personally tell my mother and my teenage daughter to put the book on their list. My father is difficult to please and my teenage boys don't read anything but Sports Illustrated otherwise I would recommend to them as well. If you've read Howey before and enjoyed his work, pick this up. If you're new to Howey's work, pick this one up and after you read it, I bet you'll take a closer look at his other books.

The science in this book is mostly correct and unobjectionable when it is not. The story us extremely well written and riveting. I have adored every Hugh Howey book I have read and this one does not disappoint either.

THIS is Hugh Howey?!? What happened?? Nothing more than a cheesy romance paperback. So disappointed. I was anxiously awaiting this and expected so much more. Sad sad. I won't be purchasing any more of his books.

I like the locations and deep sea jaunt, that was my favorite part with the end as well. Journalist was effective in showing how media are usually politically motivated and in some cases it's ok. The ending was great.
Disliked the lovie-dove drama but I see where it's necessary to get inside her head.

I really enjoy Hugh Howey's writing and writing style. He has amazed me with some new concepts in the Silo series and the Sand series, but this book is not his best.

While it is still an easy (and maybe even fun) read it felt like reading a futuristic version of 50 Shades of Grey... without the sex and S&M
