Penelope Ward is always a master story crafter and one thing that I always love about her books is her ability to surprise me and once again she did. This story had the ability to be predictable, but Penelope Ward wove her Ward magic and makes it anything but. Gentleman Nine is the perfect blend of humour, angst and swoon and the two main characters are both relatable, adorable and two people that you will be championing from the very beginning. I love how the title of this book ties in with the story itself, when a title actually means something, it makes it all the sweeter.

Gentleman Nine has all the feels, those emotions I crave by the bucket load are prevalent in spades and this friends to lover’s romance is one that will have your heart fit to burst in no time. I loved the banter and the dialogue and Penelope Ward does a fantastic job in bringing these characters to life, with heart and soul.

Our heroine is Amber who is still recovering from a surprise split from her childhood boyfriend of nine years. Even though it has been a year the hurt still smarts and this once confident woman finds herself questioning everything she once believed in. Channing was Amber’s best friends big brother and after her passing these two became best friends. After being united in grief, Channing’s feelings towards Amber changed, but as he was going away to college, he kept them to himself, but shared his feelings with his best friend, who then stole the girl.

“She was like a sister to me – a sister I secretly wanted to f*** but knew I never would.”

Now the tables have turned, Amber is once again single, and Channing finds himself on a two-month secondment in Amber’s city, needing somewhere to stay he calls his best friend and all those feelings come rushing back.

“But the mark of true friendship is that you can still come full circle, even if life circumstances change.

The chemistry between these two was electric and the fact they were so close and best friends cemented them as a believable couple. They knew each other inside out and all their little nuances. Their reconnection was like falling into step and the banter soon follows. While crossing that best friend line, I loved how their morph into more comes about. Channing was adorable from the very beginning and only gets better the more the book progresses.

“…I beg to differ. Because now I’m in bed with you. So, I’d say I won the game in the end.”

The twists and turns were fantastic, the secondary characters all added value and the story flowed effortlessly. This was a one sitting read for me, I couldn’t put it down. Another amazing read from Penelope Ward.

Another great story! From childhood friends to so much more! I loved the story of Channing and Amber. How they ended up finding each other after so many years and even still Channing watches out for Amber and how they fall in love. I absolutely can't forget Kitty! Loved the audio as well!

Penelope Ward is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Gentleman Nine definitely did not disappoint. I loved the unique storyline, both Channing and Amber were extremely likable characters and made you fall in love with them. If you are a fan of friends to lovers books with a little twist thrown in then grab this book!!

This book was like a roller coaster of emotions. The reader cannot help to feel everything that happens in this story, of love lost and replaced by true love. The angst, anger, and love hold the reader to the point that you feel a part of the story. Penelope Ward holds the reader mesmerized through out the whole book.

I loved everything about this book; it was different in a good way. Amber was very relatable & likable and Channing couldn’t have been sexier, sweeter, funnier or overall anymore perfect than he was. There’s a little twist I wasn’t expecting that made things a lot more interesting as well. Get it...you’ll love it too!

Amber, Rory, Channing...will hurt you. But I promise the bleeding does end. You learn that making the choice to hurt someone now is better than dragging a relationship on that really doesn't fulfill you. The question isn't do you love someone. Ward writes the best book boyfriends of any other author out there. Amber is a strong woman who is a great person. Channing is caring and handsome. Pretty classic love story; they don’t want to fall in love but do. Great love triangle. We want to hate Rory, but we just can’t. Can’t fail reading a book by Ward.

This is an exceptional book. I believe this is my first Penelope Ward story, but it definitely will not be my last!! This friends to lovers and second chance romance is probably the best I’ve ever read. The characters felt real, the scenario was believable, and the ending was perfect! Highly recommended!!

The male characters' thoughts and conversations were so unreal as to be laughable. In fact I read some 'inner thought' dialogue to my husband and we both cracked up. Improbable story line. Should be a two but there were no grammatical or spelling errors.

Lovelovelove it! Just love it! Love Channing and Amber love their friendship turns into lovers!!!!! Flawless well written, twist and sexy, loveeeeeee this book love her solo writing also her co writing with Vi together. So can not wait for her other books keep coming!

I didn’t think Gentleman Nine would have more of a serious undertone. Of course, you have your sexy times and steamy moments, along with your lol moments. But I didn’t expect the more serious and heartbreaking moments.

Never disappointed worth Penelope Ward and I finished Gentleman Nine in one sitting. When you have 3 friends together since high school its always hated when two of pair off especially when you have feelings involved too. Channing, Amber and Rory have a story to tell you & you'll want to pay attention.

I love a friends to lovers story. Rory broke Ambers heart, Channing came to stay with Amber by renting one of her rooms for a job. They were all childhood friends. One thing leads to another and OMG! See who Amber chooses. Great on the edge story telling. Loved it. I would definitely recommend.

Seriously!!! Wow! Love Channing!!! This book was amazing! The chemistry between Amber and Channing was off the charts! Then I wanted to throw my kindle, then I was happy again! Angsty, Happy, sad....all the feels plus sexy! Has it all! 5+ stars! Highly recommend!!!

Gentleman Nine surprised me, I thought it was going to be about this guy tricking a girl from using an escort service. I really didn't have high expectations but it is packed full of romance and angst. I couldn't put it down.

The irony of life and love brilliantly written by Penelope Ward. Great characters that touch your heart and who remind you that love and friendship and laughter always is better than tears. Open hearts is a cute for hiccups to!

I really enjoy Penelope Ward books. this was definitely another favorite to save for re-reading when I hit my next book drought. Voices of readers were good. I sometimes find them really robotic but this pairing flowed nicely.

Penelope this book gave me so many feels.... I can't even describe what I am feeling right now.... But I love Amber and Channing and Rory. Your books are always entertaining and Funny.... Thank you for another Amazing Ride.

Another excellent read by this author. Loved this book. I was definitely team Channing but after I found out why Rory left, I actually felt kind of bad for him. I really hope he gets his own book. Definitely a must read!

This was so different than I was expecting. I thought this would be a much lighter read but it was gut wrenching at times, in a very good way. My heart broke for Amber and this situation but I loved how everything ended.

Penelope knows how to throw curve balls and I love it! This book was another that I gobbled up. There was a moment I doubted the path it would take but Penelope found away to break my heart and put it together.

Great story!!! I loved that there was much more to the story than expected. There was also plenty of romance and steam. Loved the characters and was very happy with the ending for all of the characters!!

I really enjoyed reading Gentleman Nine. Channing and Amber has sizzling chemistry and their story kept me turning the pages. Once again Penelope Ward and written and great book and I highly recommend it.

One stop read. I decided to start this book, because I love this authors work. She didn't disappoint this time either. I read Canning & Ambers story in one sitting. Thank you again for the amazing escape.
