I was really excited to read another series by this author after reading The Curse of the Gods series. Honestly I really struggled through this one though. I almost stopped reading it so many times. It wasn't that it was a bad story either. I'm not sure if it was slow paced to me or what, but for some reason I just had a hard time getting into it. Maybe it just wasn't my cup of tea. I still am confused about the villain in this book too. Did I miss something or not understand something? I get that she wanted Abby, but why? What were her motives? Was she somehow connected to First World too? Why else would she want Abby? I don't know. Maybe it is one of those things that is explained in later books or once again, maybe I just missed something. Fortunately, I really started to enjoy the last 20-25% of the book a LOT more than the rest of it. Because of that, I will give book two a chance to see where it goes. Plus I've just heard too many great things about this series so I really am hoping book 2 blows me away.

This was a very fun series. The main characters were very likeable and had great chemistry that translated very smoothly. The storyline was easy to follow throughout the series even with so many characters. I think the most of any series I've read, but it never got confusing. The writing was great. The ONLY reason I give 4 stars rather than 5 is because it IS a pretty long series and even though books 4-7 were still fun reads, I WAS kinda to the point of just wanting it to wrap up because we already had enough answers to know what needed to be done, so basically just waiting it out to meet the other girls. I had fun getting to know them but I did start reading the end of the books before starting them (something I tend to do when I'm having a hard time getting into a story) by book 4. But in the end, I kept purchasing and kept reading at a page-turning pace so still a highly recommended series. Great work!

The plot was a lot of fun. The character development was outstanding. The word pictures were excellent. The story took off and pulled me along in the turbulence. Looking forward to the next adventure.

I went to this book because I liked another book, Ash, where Jaymin Eve was a co-author. I'm not sure on how I would rate this book. I thought the story line was pretty interesting, but a lot of the same tried and true plot ideas are used. Other than strong language through out and a small amount of talking about sex, I would almost think this book would be more appropriate for a much younger audience. (I'm not sure how much of an age expanse YA covers). When I say that, I think that the story is interesting enough to keep me reading, but I think my 10 year old would enjoy it more (again, leaving out the like two mentions of sex and the strong language). Over all this book isn't bad, and it was a short read for me.

This book is selling as young adult, but there is cursing in the book. Not that I have a problem with cursing personally, just wouldn't want it in a book sold as a YA. I felt I should give a heads up to anyone that would be concerned and feel like the author should state this for all her books.

This looks to be a good start to the series, but have to wonder why Red never questioned who pushed her from the right to fall into the worm hole in the compound. That would be a very limited few and would bring up some serious questions. I found the fact that it was never mentioned it even questioned internally to be very strange

I enjoyed this book for the most part although there were a few brow furrowing moments in the authors narration from the main characters point of view. Nothing a bit more editing and polishing couldn't fix... One example would be Abby's relationship with Quarn. He was a stranger to her, she had only met him twice but a chapter or two later she was saying things like, "typical Quarn"... how would she know what was typical when they just met? But like I said, it was still entertaining with an intriguing story line. I would probably read the sequel.

OK, so not a great work of contemporary fiction, but still a fun read. Kind of a unique take on fantasy/romance with enough quirkiness to keep things interesting. I will start looking for the next installment!

Book starts off quick, which I love! At first your setting is a post apocalyptic NYC but then the sudden influx of sci-fi (yes we go to other planets)and fantasy have me doing a HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY DANCE. Let's not forget the hotness level of all the characters and kick butt girl power. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I'm not the spoiler type of reviewer, sorry you are going to have to read this fast paced action packed fantasy sci-fi romance for yourself! Read 1st book in hours and am about to read the next one!!!! I love series!

Awesome Story, love it!! Totally fell in love with the characters, such a rich fantastical story. It did not grab me at page one but so glad I kept reading, already bought book two in series and can't wait to get started. The story may focus on young adults, but this book can be read by anyone. I am no spring chicken.

This book had great character development. I like the strong friendship between Lucy and Abby. Their friendship remains Central and they do not drop each other for guys in the book. I look forward to see what happens. the male characters also have depth. The author give hints that makes them interesting and you want to see what will be

I liked the story line and character development. It's a different perspective on what the future could be like. I'm not fond of Brace for some reason. I feel as though he has a hidden agenda. Lucy is a crack up, love her. Baby takes everything in stride and is a great main character. Well worth the read.

I was looking for something different to read when I came across this book and decided to give it a try. It has by far been the Best book I've read this year Thank you Jaymin Eve for putting this heart wrenching, action packed book out. I couldn't put it down until I was through. It's one I could read again.
I'm moving on to the next one!

This first-of-a-series gathers the main characters for future adventures. Tough girl Abby has been raised in an alternate, decaying, gangland New York, along with BFF Lucy. Her impressive lineage is revealed as she travels to another planet, First World, and finds her beautiful and powerful parents, a possible love interest, an enemy or two, a seer of an aunt, and a lost brother. The stage is set for wars on several worlds with Abby at the heart of the conflict.

I loved this book! The world's were described beautifully and the relationships between the characters kept you wanting more, especially between Abby and hottie Brace! Abby was living in a kind of post Apocalyptic type world, where everything went to s*** and gangs ran the streets of New York. Soon she finds out she isn't of this world and is transported to a beautiful world where people don't age and they all have abilities, but some type of darkness is threatening to destroy the worlds so she must save it with the help of a few friends. It's a great book! I will definitely pick up the next one in the series!

Addicted from the start. This was my favorite series by far. Every time a new book came out I would start the series from the very beginning. I plan to reread it all over again. A big THANK YOU to the wonderful author.

It is a rather interesting story about aliens. There was a little bit of romance, mystery and science fiction. The writer did a good job of telling her story of Abby. Meeting her family, friends and enemy was well written. The family bond was not just instant but progressed just right. I can't wait to start the next one.

But this book right now!

I discovered this author by reading Dragon Marked and Dragon Mystics. I loved her writing so much I was excited to see she had this other series I could dive into. I was not disappointed! The characters are captivating, the different worlds are unique and the story itself is epic.

This book shows the series has great potential. Haven't read any of the rest but I want to. The writing style is a little bit lacking for me. Similar writing style as Twilight but still good. The series has potential for a good plot. Though you don't see a lot of it in this book. It's more of a "let's get know the characters". But still was a good read.

Loved this book. VERY FUTURISTIC.That's not usually my taste, but this book changed that. The author really did a good job of keeping the reader interested and the story never felt unbelievable, which is hard to imagine considering this is pure fantasy.I've read five suckie books before this one and was due for some entertainment and that's exactly what this one was.

Hi, I downloaded this book onto my kindle through a recommendation from a friend. I can be a very harsh critic as books are very important to me but I really REALLY enjoyed First World. From New York to other worlds, the imagination of this author is first class. The world-weaving is fantastic, I felt I could really see and experience the worlds. This type of genre is comfort food for me. I bonded with Abby, Lucy and Josian and fell in love with Brace and the cliff hanger ending left me wanting more! I am impatiently waiting for the next book.
