I could not put this down. Anyone who has suffered the anxiety, guilt , loneliness, & shame of not loving every minute of dealing with the experience of having a new baby, can relate to this story.

This book was very interesting. It was definitely hard to read at times from a emotional standpoint because Sarah talks about wanting to kill her daughter. I would describe the book as a modern Gothic story, so if you are not a fan of Gothic stories, this is not the book for you. The biggest downfall in the book is the way that author displays Christianity. He makes Christians seem like they are cruel and uncaring individuals.

This is a must read book. It very accurately describes what I think a lot of mother's feel the first few months with a newborn but are to scared to talk about. I love Sarah and Tiff and their story. I could say so much about this book but I don't want to ruin it for the next person...just know if you pick this up to read you will not be disappointed.

Good characters and plot development, good editing (don't recall many typos). Just a very weird story. I could deal with the gay issue. I had a difficult time reading about her wanting to kill her baby constantly. As a Christian, I had a harder time with her blasphemy of God, church and faith. I'm curious enough to read his book Alex.

Like the author's previous work, Alex, this book is engrossing and keeps you turning (or clicking) the pages. This is a bit surprising, because the plot has a little less going on in terms of action, although it has just as much, if not more, going on psychologically. I read it - or rather devoured it - eagerly. I don't know how Nicolai does it, but whatever he's doing works really well.
Without giving away too much, one really interesting thing to read about was the main character's struggles with her faith. Those parts felt really real, and I think a lot of readers will be able to relate, even readers like me whose own battles in that area weren't quite so dramatic. This book isn't just entertainment (although it is quite a ride!). A book like this could get preachy, but it doesn't; rather, it encourages readers to embark on their own way of feeling and reflection.

The story begins and just never takes off. We spend too much time on things that just don't add to the plot. I don't like to go into plot details as you can read this anywhere, besides, there is no plot, no thriller, it is just a plain vanilla envelope with words. I didn't feel for the main character and I kept wondering how I made the mistake and bought this in the first place. This was a waste of time and I am glad to be rid of this so I can find something fun to read. Don't do it, don't make my mistake, you can find much better, perhaps the dictionary might be more entertaining, at least we can learn a word or two.

It takes a while to realize that the guardian angel, Mom, and the pastor are not the good guys--or rather that their BS does not express the author's own views. The period of uncertainty lasts just long enough to draw us in. Once we get our moral bearings, we become interested in the gradual healing of the protagonist's soul and the development of the characters that surround her. The message is one of hope, with trust in the power of love to combat the destructive power of institutionalized bigotry.

A really awesome story about a young mom. Her relationship with her mother is something many, including me, can relate to. Elements of religion, faith and the supernatural make this a page turner. You'll flip through this in no time. You won't want to put it down.

Mr Nicolai gives a great ride with his exciting writing style. Not run of the mill in any way. If you like a good, can't put it down read this is for you. This is the second book of his I have read and can't wait for more!

Interesting plot... really deals with some big issues. I liked the ending, though it seemed rushed after the book's slow start. I didn't expect the book to end the way it did, after reading the cover blurb. I expected it to be a lot darker than it was.

I liked the book - very well written and characters are really well developed. Several social problemsare dealt with in a very good way. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the end which is a bit too nice and romantic.

Intensely dark story line and well-developed characters. However, my favorite part of REBECCA (and his first book, ALEX) has to be the writing itself. Nicolai truly has a gift for stringing words together . . . and I found myself re-reading several passages because I enjoyed them so much. Would recommend to anyone who likes a good, dark story line and fantastic writing.

I just discovered "Alex" before Christmas, excited by how great "Alex" was I quickly found out Adam Nicolai had another book due at the beginning of the year. I downloaded "Rebecca" the morning it came out and could not put it down. I was not let down whatsoever, I kept reading and the book kept getting better and better. I will be anxiously awaiting Mr. Nicolai's next novel.

Having read Alex upon its release, I waited with bated breath for Adams next publication. He did not disappoint. I devoured it in less that 8 hours, a few breaks included. The battle Rebecca fought with her mother and her religion really touched home. I cried at just the thought of harm coming to this innocent child. Deep down, this is a love story. A mothers love for her child, though not instantaneous, it is there; driving her to protect her child at all costs. A significant others love, a love that derails previous life plans at the prospect of something better; greater. I loved this book and cannot wait to read more.

Nicolai writes like most readers wish they could write. He makes you feel exquisite empathy with the characters, even as you squirm like you've just rubber-necked a bad wreck. He is adept at focusing on modern day issues with a bit of Stephen King horror-drama thrown in. If you like to go into full heart attack mode then his books are for you.

After reading Nicolai's first book, Alex, I couldn't imagine that his second book could possibly be as addictive as the first. I was wrong!!! Rebecca is engrossing, suspenseful, and thought provoking. Great read!

After reading Adam J. Nicolai's book ''Alex'', I was eager to read "Rebecca" but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. Although the story was compelling enough to keep my interest, it seemed to be written for a young adult audience, rather than for an adult reader. I was also disturbed by some of the methods of harm that were suggested within the story. I feel that this book would appeal to young adults and teenagers, but not to mature readers.

I read this after reading Nicolai's other book, Alex. I thought Alex was slightly better than this book, but nonetheless I read this book very quickly and it was still hard to put down. I'd definitely recommend this book, it has a good and sympathetic story to it.

This is an excellent book. It's well written, and thought out. Rebecca explores very serious issues and regardless of how you personally feel about them, you can't help but feel bad for the lead character. I would recommend this book to anyone and I look forward to reading other books by this author.
