A Guide to Bringing Life-Saving Love to the World

This book will encourage you to be brave with your story, inspire you to love everyone around you as you realize everyone you meet has the fingerprints of God all over them, and challenge you to make a difference in the world. This book will be one of my constant give away and replenish book, one to always have on hand to reference and hug you when you need it and one to give away to someone you meet who needs to know they are loved just as they are. Honesty, bravery and boldness run throughout as Mike shares his personal failures that have led him to know how deeply each of us are loved.

Great read! Saw someone else suggest this as a "$20 therapy session." That's a pretty good take on this book. Great combination of researched illustrations, life experience, and practical advice that I found refreshing. I've already loaned my copy to someone I thought could use it, and I think this would be a nice resource to do as a group. Good stuff!

This book is a beautiful glimpse into the truth of our real identity in Christ Jesus. As a broken person walking through my own healing, God is using the words of Mike Foster to speak truth and life into the broken parts. Thank you for sharing your own story and pain to help others rewrite theirs.

Mike Foster is not only a brilliant speaker, but writer as well. Every page of this book drips with truth as his passion for hope, people and restoration exude chapter after chapter. "People of the Second Chance" is relentlessly honest, and left me doing some deep introspection. For anyone who thinks their "stuff" is too messy to even contemplate tackling- it's time to read this book and receive some grace (coupled with fresh perspective).

"If you think God feels disappointment when he looks at you, then you don't know God very well." Through his narratives and insights, it's clear that Foster worships the kind of God you want to know--the kind who is anything BUT disappointed in you. More than that, you'll finish this book convinced that the big forgiveness you've been shown was meant for you to extend to everyone around you. We're active participants in the process of offering second chances. Foster puts it simply: grace has a voice and that voice is yours.

This is a wonderful book filled with truth that is a challenge to mundane living. From beginning to end, Foster speaks directly to the reader and keeps you turning the page. I especially enjoyed the section "Lunch with Your Enemies"- a story which I have heard him tell in person and love to be able to reread. Also, the cover has a great tactile feel.

Mike somehow managed to write a book that can speak straight into the hurting part of people's hearts. Everyone knows what if feels like to be so hurt that it feels as though life just cannot go on, so everyone can relate to this!! Mike speaks about the darkness and hurt he has had to deal with throughout his life and helps you feel as though you can get through your own hurt. I would encourage everyone to read this, you won't be able to put it down.

At first, I was a little frustrated, thinking this book was a bit schizophrenic. Is it for people who need a second chance or people who want to give one? Which of these two groups am I supposed to be in? The answer is: both. The way Mike floats between giving and receiving a second chance in this book keeps the emphasis on second chances - people don't become projects. Grace is the project. And we're all just trying to get better at it. With Mike's raw honesty and tender voice, maybe, just maybe, we will.

Mike Foster's book is the real deal. His transparency and raw emotion will surely reach those who have been marginalized because of self-inflicted shame and lead them back into the healing power of God's light.

Phenomenal book. I have followed Mike for a while and was ecstatic to hear about his book release. I read it in three nights, each night filled with more and more revelation, insight and hope. For those who need a second chance in life, Mike's book not only provides one but gives great insight on how to get back up again and pursue not only new life but new dreams and new purpose.

Mike Foster speaks and writes so humbly and resonates with everyone because of his openness to human fault. Reading these words of encouragement will leave you inspire to live life more boldly and love unconditionally. I definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to hear a message of forgiveness and acceptance.

Definitely a great book! Not only is the book well structured and balance, but it also has an inspiring message. I read this book for a class assignment, little did I know it would help me get through a personal situation. This may have been a very relevant message for me, but I am sure it will be relevant and inspiring to anyone who reads it.

Having Mike as a professor this semester has allowed me to see some of the inner workings of his truest self- and this vulnerability is displayed on each page of this book. Mike speaks truth in a light-hearted way, with thought-provoking questions and statements. I feel grateful to be reminded that we are all people of the second chance!

Such a great book!! We all make mistakes and have our short comings, but God still loves us! We need to give people a second chance as well! If you have ever made a mistake then this book is for you! It will give you encouragement and help you move forward! You will learn quickly you are not alone!

The world says, "shame on you!", Mike Foster says, "shame OFF you!" What an incredible revelation! This book is a shift in the message of the church. God takes our experiences, our brokenness and our shame and he brings healing to others through our story. Being brave with our story sets people free!

Mike Foster's People Of The Second Chance literally turned my whole world around! I loved his Freeway but the POTSC just blew me away. He is utterly vulnerable and one of the most authentic believers I know of. This book made me cry, made me laugh, and most importantly made me feel that it's not too late to be who God created me to be.

Having already done a Freeway study, I was excited to hear that Mike was writing a book and couldn't wait to get it. It definitely did not disappoint. This book describes the person that I want to be in my walk with Christ. Mike is very transparent within the book and if you're anything like me, you will not want to put it down.

Great book about grace and forgiveness, learning how we all get a "second chance". The first chapter grabs you right out of the gate and holds onto your attention. Easy read and one you have to read if you've had an encounter in your past that you can't "forgive" yourself, or others.

Mike oozes encouragement. No matter what your story is, how it's been shaped, or where you think it's headed, your life is valuable and worth it. That's the story Mike communicates in People of the Second Chance, and it's the story he lives every day.

Mike is the kindest person I know and that kindness is felt in every word as you read this book. Mike's insight and vulnerability pushed me ever so gently to find my courage and step into those last few parts of my story that I wanted to never approach. This is a book I go back to over and over again - to pick up some hope and to be reminded that I am God's beloved. I believe this book is going to change the world.

Just finished the book and realized we all have a not so perfect story though we often don't reflect back on those experiences. Failure and shame are part of who we are but not who we can become. Mike Foster gives us the tools to take that journey toward God's purpose knowing that our flaws and failures provide a backdrop for that journey. Instead of being distracted by the past, the book suggests the process to move forward to a second chance and a "brave new ending".
I read with Post-its beside me and will now go back with a highlighter and reread this gift of encouragement and truth called People of the Second Chanc

Mike writes with such truth and vulnerability on much needed life changing topics. A book you will want to read more than once! I have already purchased a second copy as a gift for a dear friend. I have covered my copy with notes and highlighter marks because I want to learn and remember as much as possible from this wonderful book!
