We got this book from our community apartment and at first glance, I must admit the book didn't seem appealing but fell in love with it learning the life lessons we should all learn. Perfect for my 4yr old son who loves this book now asking for it to be read before bedtime! We try to use these words everyday!

My kids get this! Cookies is quickly becoming a favorite book at our house. Some of the words and concepts are difficult for kids to grasp, and admittedly not words that I work into daily conversation with my little ones. But having a book that so beautifully compares words like "modest", "fair", and "generous", with cookies makes sense to little minds. One of my favorite words is "open-minded". A bunny offers green cookies to a little girl and the captions reads, "I've never seen cookies like that before, but, uh, sure, I'll try one." A great lesson for adults too. This book has been a wonderful conversation starter with my children. But they always want to have a cookie after we read it!

I originally purchased an autographed copy of this book at the "Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art" while on vacation in Massachusetts last summer. I decided to purchase copies for some of my "mom" friends who love great illustrations, as well as thoughtful messages in the books they read to their children. This is a lovely book in every way, and explains some difficult concepts such as optimistic versus pessimistic, loyalty, pride, and modesty, all in relatable ways for young children. Jane Dyer's illustrations are perfect complements to Amy Rosenthal's words. A unique children's book that will remain in my library long after my own children are grown.

Absolutely everybody should read this book. The world is moving too fast and the simple truths are too often forgotten. I'm in the process of sending a copy of this book to every friend and foe I have (friends first, foes eventually).
The illustrations are remarkable. The clothes that the animals wear are incredible.
Buy this book! Most important - Read! this book!!!

My 23-month old daughter just loves her "Lessons" (her nickname for this book). This is a wonderful way to introduce children to concepts such as compassion, respect, generosity, etc. Absolutely gorgeous illustrations in the tradition of Norman Rockwell.
Not sure why this book is recommended on the store for ages 9-12; I would share this book with children ages 2-6.

This is a delightful book that is beautifully illustrated and teaches wonderful character traits in a very special and entertaining way. I have already given out 5 books and have ordered 3 more. A must for every mother and grandmother. Great shower gift - along with cookie cutters and recipes.
