I LOVE, ADORE, and in all honesty WORSHIP Ms. Lora Leigh! Her writing is unparalleled. Her Breeds are foam at the mouth, cream your pants smokin HOT!!!
She never fails to deliver a stellar book that always makes you yearn for the next story! This book is no exception to that rule. I literally have tried to collect every book that has her name on it, even if it is just her giving a review I buy and read it. She is easily in my top 3 all time favorite authors. If you like hunky men, sex that will leave you breathless, and a kiss hormone that makes you wanna jump in a book and take it for your own, then you will adore this book as much as I do. Kudos to Ms. Leigh, once again she's knocked it out of the park!!

This first book of the Breed romances was not quite what I thought it would be. It was better! I've read the later books and have wondered about the leaders' stories. I am going to find them all now and add to my collection of romances. Loved the friction between the male and female leads and the views each has of the others' life and situations. Lora Leigh writes a great story line that leaves you wanting more. I am looking forward to the secondary characters stories especially Shera's.

First-off, I'm with one of the other reviewers. I missed the fact that this was erotica, or romantica (a new genre I guess?) I thought it was a paranormal romance and it got great reviews so I thought I'd check it out.
That being said, I can't believe there are so many people out there who love these books. Erotica or not they read like a bad porn flick! There is zero chemistry between the main characters. Why? Because there is absolutely no build-up! They're in bed with-in the first or second chapter! The love scenes are so raunchy that they're corny. She's trying way to hard to be crude and dirty. It's like she's saying, "Gee, what are the crudest, lewdest possible terms I can use? Oh, I know! How about the C word for the female anatomy!" Do you know anybody who uses that word unless they are using it in a derogatory way? I'm not offended by it, I just find it corny and unrealistic in the extreme! She uses other terms, also, in her quest to be as crude and raunchy as possible. They are completely distracting and take me out of the scene immediately. (Mainly because I have to stop and roll my eyes at the ridiculousness!) And the whole barb thing? Stupid!! Purely human women are not built like cats! That whole concept would not work! Are there people out there who actually think this is sexy? I guess there are because these books get rave reviews! For those of you who like a love scene that's a little more raw and edgy and deals with some subject matter that's not the norm for most romances but still remains hot and steamy and doesn't degenerate into corny and gross, let me suggest J.R. Ward and the Black dagger brotherhood series. Now those are good books!

If you can actually slog through all the ludicrous sex scenes (which are about 2/3 of the book) the storyline isn't half-bad and is relatively well written. (thus the three stars. Would have done 2 1/2 if I could have.) The problem is it meshes out so slowly because there is so little of it in the book. I'm almost done with the second one and it has progressed very little. (Just more of the same.) The third book (according to Lora Leigh's website, not the store's) Is about the wolf breeds. Maybe that will be different, I don't know. Why do I keep reading these books after all these scathing remarks you ask? Well unfortunately I bought the first three books of the series, and, not wanting to waste the money, I will read them. However, I can't even imagine slogging through this whole series. It just moves too slow! So in short if you're into porn (penthouse or hustler style) you'll love these. Otherwise, save your money!

I thought this book was okay. The romance sceens are hot and I do mean H O T but the back story could get a little confusing I think. This is the first in the series and I can't imagine the rest of the series as any less confusing. Maybe it needed more ground work or maybe they are going to bring it around in other books. It was a good read but I think there are others books out there that are better then these.

When I started the breed series the only books available to me locally started with Megan's Mark. And even though I enjoyed the series I felt as if I'd missed so much. When I got my kindle I purchased this book and Ms. Leigh did not disappoint, I loved it from beginning to end. I really wish I would have read the series in order but every book I've read from this series is an amazing read!!!!

More sex than plot. Main characters' relationship is antagonistic until the very last part of the book when they (surprise) realize they are hopelessly in love. My response at the end was "That was it?"

Have read everyone of the 'Breed Series" and waiting for April 2011 for Lora Leigh's next book,' Navarro's Promise'. Absolutely enjoyed everyone of these books, good story line and lots of romance and drama. If you want a little romance, drama, and a happy ending these books are a good read. Read all mine on my Kindle. Happy reading ;)

If you like paranormal romance with an erotic twist, you will love this book. This was the first book I've had the pleasure of reading by Lora Leigh, but it will not be the last. She is an excellent writer who can draw you in to the story. The personality of, and the dynamics between, the characters are very well developed, and the romance sizzles. I couldn't put the book down.

The premise of people with animal DNA I thought had potential for interesting differences and conflicts. Having read and enjoyed other paranormal and "romantica" novels, the reviews had me looking forward to this one. The main characters were attractive enough, and although the plot was fairly predictable the book's biggest disappointment was that the hot encounters between Callan and Merinus was so motivated by an overwhelming chemical dependency (via Callan's pheromones) that the sex was disturbingly and distractingly involuntary--like a drug addiction. If this sounds like it would bother you, look elsewhere.

I had began the Breed books somewhere in the middle. I've gotten my sister-n-law and mother-in-law to reading these as well. We finally decided we had to see how it began, and Lora Leigh did NOT disappoint. Just as fantastic as every other one I've read!

The book is good along with the storyline. There's just the right amount of sex in the book. I think the story has good potential. The ending could be better but i also feel it goes well with what she was trying to get across. I hope in the second book the two former lovers get back together. Cute overall.

Lora Leigh starts a series with this great book. The characters are well thought out & make you want to see them win against the dark forces trying to keep them prisoners. The two main characters will delight & astound you with their courage. A great beginning to a wonderful series.

Merinus Tyler is a talented journalist, a real professional who always gets her story. That is, she gets the story when her overprotective father and six feisty, interfering brothers aren't hampering her, insisting she stay out of trouble and away from dangerous situations. But dangerous situations make excellent copy. Merinus works for the National Forum, where her oldest brother Caleb is editor-in-chief, and she is obsessed with a lead on a potential story. She had seen a photograph of a man, Callan Lyons, who was the product of a genetic experiment. He had been conceived in a test tube, carried to term by a surrogate mother, Dr. Maria Morales, inheriting the genes of the animal his DNA had been altered with - a lion. He looks like a normal man, has the feelings of a man, but has all the instincts and hunting abilities of a lion. He was bred to be a killer; an almost perfect weapon to be used by the military. Dr. Morales had been a very close friend of John Tyler, Marinus' father. After Morales' recent death, a murder, all her papers, including the genetic project's documentation on breeding, were sent to Tyler, at her bequest. Reading these papers, Merinus saw a photograph of Lyons and couldn't get his face out of her mind. She desperately wanted to meet him, ostensibly to learn about his life, and to persuade him to come forward to testify against the secret Genetics Council, which had conducted so many illegal experiments and caused so much suffering. Kane Tyler, one of Merinus' brothers, an ex-Special Forces commander, finally agrees to accompany his sister, doubting very much if she will get her interview with the reclusive Lyons.

But Merinus succeeds. You doubted? Callan is handsomer, more charismatic and mysterious in person than in his photograph. He lives, with his Pride, other genetically altered humans known as feline breeds, in an inaccessible, hidden sanctuary. The military and the Council would pay any price to capture Callan's group. When the breeds escaped from the secret laboratory they took with them the physical results of years of experimentation. Also, if word leaked that these creatures existed, their creators would be tried for criminal acts.

When Merinus and Callan meet they have an overpowering physical effect on each other - a chemical effect that had never been witnessed during all the years at the laboratory. Emotional ties begin to form between the two also. With evil members of the Genetics Council pursuing them, as well as Merinus' family, a betrayal from inside the Pride, and a truly uncontrollable physical attraction, there is plenty of plot in this most erotic novel - as well as scenes that absolutely sizzle.

Lora Leigh has written with "Tempting the Beast: Feline Breeds 1," probably the steamiest novel I have ever read. And the author writes well. She has talent. Her characters are well defined and very sympathetic, and her imagination is amazing. I highly recommend this novel for fans of "romantica" and erotica. I certainly plan to read more of Lora Leigh's books.

This series of Breed books by Lora Leigh is worth reading. The story and characters are so passionate.
Her writing is great. The books build on a greater story line. There are almost 20 books in this series.
I was so happy to find these first books since they are hard to find due to the author changing publishers.
Great service by the vendors I ordered from.
