I borrowed this book from the kindle owners lending library and the charts were hard to read and it was difficult to flip back and forth between the charts and text so I bought the hard copy and the charts are no better in the book. The book is easier to use I can flip back and forth easily. I am disappointed that a book on charting has such bad charts.

This is a very informative, well written book. I am new to tech analysis and I feel like I learned a lot from reading this book. I am normally not much of a reader but immediately after finishing this book I ordered his other book trading the trends.
A New Approach to Stock Trading - The Market Whisperer :: Essentials to Start Investing Successfully - Stock Market Investing for Beginners :: Proven Techniques for Profiting from Intraday and Swing Trading Setups :: How To Buy Your First Stock And Grow Your Money - Stock Investing For Beginners :: Because One Little Word Can Bring Health - and Happiness

As a beginner trader, I am very impressed how well the patterns were described in this book. I have a much better understanding on how to trade more efficiently. I started using his techniques as I was reading and they truly do work. I am doing much better already.

I made very many trading mistakes before reading this book. I have since used this information to check my previous, failed, trades as well as all new trades. I now trade with confidence and I am no longer just guessing for profit or loss but actually making educated decisions that are profitable. Thank you Fred McAllen

So easy, I wish every trainer or teacher was this simple and clear! McAllen eliminates the need for more complex tools, although he does not discard them, but makes them unnecessary if someone doesn't want to use them.

Overall, the book contains precisely what I wanted in a Technical Analysis book. I'm happy that I purchased it.
Unfortunately, the images (and there are a lot of them) are practically unreadable. They were originally small lossy 72 dpi JPEG images that were enlarged for the book, and frankly, are nearly worthless. Considering that the book is designed to teach you how to analyze complex charts, the person adding the images should be flogged.
The only way I can read this book is to hold it between my big toes so that it's far away that the text on the images become clearer.

This is an awesome book. I'm extremely skeptical, so I always look the other way when someone promises me I'll make money like most stock market books out there. This book doesn't claim you'll make a million bucks using some crazy system like so many others on the market, but delivers outstanding information in a detailed, yet easy to understand language so you can make your own intelligent decisions. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn (more) about charting and technical analysis. The only problem I have with it is that there is not a paper edition.

There are several books which will cover the same topics in a much deeper way than this one. Do not waste time with this one and go the classic ones where you will find the whole thing. This book is just full of general remarks with no deep analysis into any tool.

I bought the kindle version. Don't buy the kindle version; the charts are so small you can't read what he's talking about. Buy the hardcover version so you can see the candlesticks he's talking about.
Okay, the book is a 5 star book on charting and technical analysis. You'll learn enough that you can do well with Swing trading or long term
trading. Almost no one makes money at Day Trading; You're best not to try it. But Swing trading could be the way to go. I do 50/50; putting half
my funds in for the long term and half for Swing trading.

This book is for the trader who is learning, starting to trade. It will increase your knowledge on the charts. If you are an expert trader, definitely this may not be a book for you. Although for the beginning trader or if you want to have a better understanding of how the market moves, then, this book is a must read and a great asset.

I consider myself a novice in stock trading, and I had lost 10% of my money in stock market before reading this book. I was trading on 100% speculation with emotion. This book presents great strategies and teaches me how to enter and exit a position with good justifications. The charting skill is an asset for any trader. This book is for every trader and is worth reading multiple times.

A good introduction to technical analysis and should be a good review even for more experienced traders. You could probably find everything in this book with a <generic internet search> but the author does a great job of putting it all together and really making it an enjoyable learning experience. Recommended for anyone wanting to learn more about recognizing and trading around chart patterns.

Well written, but, like similar books, comes with no proofs, success statistics or any other supporting data. Since market timing has a poor record (see Hulbert's data), the value of this book is unclear.

This book took my understanding of the markets to the next level. I went from knowing nothing to being able to make money in the markets using proper technical analysis. This book is an easy read which allows you to understand the complicated market and how it moves. If you know nothing about the markets this is a great starting point.

I was pleased and surprised how good the information on this book was presented. The way it organize the chapters was good because it gives you the very basic of the Dow theory, to patterns like island reversal patterns and the saucer. Highly recommended!

Lots of great trading info. Geared to mid and longer term traders but day traders can learn from it as well. It is a meaty book with 19 good sized chapters. Would recommend to anyone learning investing

Great take on a valuable and learnable field. Technical skills taught by someone who clearly has thought a great deal about what he teaches. Shares invaluable experiences in dealing with both the art and science of technical analysis. Much to be learned from a clear, well taught treatise on charting as well as innumerable pearls about investing in general. Well worth the time spent in reading and developing a personal sense to an approach to investing that stays far away from the talking heads on public media....
