This is more a series rating than for this individual book. They're all so similar, even across the connected series, that my thoughts are relevant to them all.
The positive:
-The first person narrative is engaging. This is probably what had me purchasing each subsequent book.
-Most of the dialogue is relatively entertaining with humorous moments throughout. I often found myself smiling.
-The reader can connect to the secondary characters and wants to know more. Again, why a continued to purchase this author.
Areas for improvement:
-Every single book is in need of editing. Wrong pronouns, point of view, and word usage as well as repetition of words and phrases. After reading every book, this never improves. Even if you self pub, you should have beta readers and an editor. First book, ok. Every one that follows? Not so much. Most of the errors should have been caught by the author during self-editing. Inexcusable.
-The plot is incredibly formulaic. The same thing happens in every book! The heroine is in danger, there is a woman to be jealous of, a misunderstanding that makes the heroine look petty and immature, a pregnancy, etc.
-The characters are interchangeable. As secondary characters their personalities differ, but as soon as they become the main characters of their own story, they're all the same dominant man (not necessarily a bad thing) and whiny, immature woman. The heroines all even use the same off the wall phrases and curse words.
I read each book so obviously something kept me coming back for more. That being said, I won't be purchasing another. She's been given multiple opportunities to improve, and disappointed each time. I hope that as her career continues to grow, she respects her readers and craft enough to expand her plot and invest in an editor.

Oh Sam, Sam, Sam... and Cheyenne. Love at first sight, but denying it the whole way. Talk about a total surprise. I don't know what I expected when I started this series, but it wasn't this and I was pleasantly surprised. I was hooked on book one, could not put it down. I just had to know how the story was going to pan out. How the story was going to end. Was Sam going to get his happily ever after? How far was he going to go to protect Cheyenne. And then he does it, he does the one thing that I never expected. He involves the one person I didn't ever think he would call. All for her. Everything for her. Lani doesn't disappoint with the drama either. There is so much going on. So much you don't know about. So much Sam and the guys don't want you knowing about, but you are dying to know. Once they finally let Cheyenne and us know what's going on... your jaw drops. HOLY DRAMA LANI!!! She pulls out all the stops on this. So much going on..so much!! You know what surprised me the most? The little slips of humor we get here and there. That's not found in your typical MC books, but it fits in perfectly in these. Perfectly. Lani has sucked me in and now I'm a Freebird addict

Sure, there are quite a few motorcycle club books out right now. I like MC books. Boomtown has so, so, so much more to it than this. The MC is so minor in comparison. Love at first sight. Hot, alpha male, motorcycle guys/special forces eye candy. Strong heroines. Hilarity. So much going for this debut by author Lani Lynn Vale. The dialogue between the characters is probably my favorite thing about this author. She captures so much about the characters in even the most benign conversation.
The evil ex, well I just wanted someone to make her disappear. No spoilers, but I felt really crappy about that later. She was a serious dumb ho, though. That is my defense and I will stick to it.
Cheyenne and Ember shopping for condoms is one of my favorite scenes. These two can play off each other in such a way as to be considered an art. The poor school teacher they meet in the store, she will never be the same.
The chemistry between Sam and Cheyenne, fireworks. I read one review that criticized Sam's quick progression of the relationship with Cheyenne. I have to say, I do not think Sam has ever not gone in with both feet, judging by his character. He is a gung ho, balls to the wall kind of guy. He gives 110% or nothing and expects the same in return. Sam is funny, confident, sexy, and all alpha.
All nonsense and fangirling aside, I really did enjoy this book. Yes, there are some errors. I hope it does not stop you from giving it a chance.

Once again I am introduced to an author that I absolutely fall in love with. The attention to details in this book was perfect. I also like that each chapter had same and cheys POV in it. Which is something I haven't seen before. Had a great storyline and kept you intrigued all the way through the book. The secondary characters were awesome too, and what's nice is that hopefully we can get their stories, and more from the main characters.
Chey was celebrating her 21st birthday at deacons. She meets Sam and things explode from there. Come to find out that Sam knows her brother James. Now with this new relationship in the works, drama is brewing. Someone is trying to hurt sams team, but who. With some twists and a great storyline you can't miss what happens.
I love this author and I hope to read more soon.

This was a fun and exciting read. Sam and Cheyenne are a couple that are solid considering their rocky beginnings. I enjoyed the fact that even though Sam has his shop and side missions with his military friends he finds a way of keeping Cheyenne safe.
Cheyenne doesn't think that anything will come of her first encounter Sam but learns that eh will be there for both her and her niece when ever she needs it. Spending time at work, school and taking care of her family leaves her little time for fun. But she is fun and when she meets Sam he realizes that he likes her quirks.
Tension and excitement await you when you read this book and I give it *5* stars. i love when the book grabs my attention and keeps it there. Sam and Cheyenne will have you biting your nails all the way till the end but don't fret it will leave you satisfied.

I have read these series the wrong way round, I never really knew what came first and didn't realise they were all intertwined until I had got through a few of them.
You can see the difference in Lani's writing from this book and her Dixie Wardens books. Her writing isn't just as well developed in this one but with saying that I still really enjoyed this book.
I loved the relationship Cheyenne had with Ember, the two of them are hilarious and had me in stitches when they got started.
I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of this lot.

A great story, but I hate getting books from well known authors that are full of typing errors. Why can't they take the time to proofread? Get a new editor since the current one isn't working. Many sentences with words left out, wrong words used, misspelled words etc etc. I love the previous series and this one will be no different, I am hoping the editing gets better. I know $4 isn't a lot for a book but with these types of grade school errors it should be less.

Sam meets Cheyenne at the local bar. Sam takes her home, but didn't realize that she was James little sister, Chey. These two best up the sheets, solved a mystery and butt heads. You can go wrong reading a book by Vale.

I read this book and I automatically fell in love with Cheyenne and Sam. I just loved how they connected so well. I also loved how Sam stepped up and protected his woman. Then when he found out that he was going to be a daddy he made changes that he could keep his family safe. 30 stars
