Having religiously followed the series, this installment was the first time I haven't been gripped from start to finish. Certain side stories seem absolutely pointless - apart perhaps from expanding on fringe character backstories - whereas the battles are completely unimaginative. I will still give 3 stars for 2 reasons - 1. I really love the series and 2. The introduction of a new source of evil which may actually provide some challenge gives me hope for following novels.

Once again the newest demon accords novel is an entertaining read with a few improvements over previous entries in the series. The fact that the viewpoints in the novel were limited to two like in God Hammer was nice and the fact that the novel doesn't focus on the politics between Chris and the government makes the novel much more ennjoyable to me.

Two dramatic adventures moving along simultaneously with old friends and new worlds coming into play full of surprises and hidden villains, with even more magic being added to an already heady mix. Author Conroe continues to impress and expand on an already Big Bang equivalent of wonderfully developed human and supernatural characters and thoughtful plot twists.

I have enjoyed this entire series. This latest rendering by John Conroe is a fascinating voyage into another realm. His character development throughout the series has been great. Conroe's imagination takes the reader to magical places while creating enough suspense to thrill the reader and yet not so much that it exhausts the reader.

Following, never commenting. I love three series. Dead witch walking and David Eddings that got me intrigued bye the individual characters of the book and into the series where it actually became emotionally engaging. This is the third series which quite frankly is one of the best I've read in the last 20 years. So I've come out from private to a public endorsement of this product

I love this series and can't recommend it enough. The world building is excellent and the characters engaging. I am not going to spoil it, but for fans of the series I am sure it is going to be a big hit. If this series is new for you, all I can say is start at book 1 and get ready for an awesome ride!

Once more more Conroe manages to enlarge the storylines universe, abilities and characters. In this novel Conroe sets out with a dual line storytelling, which abselutely packs this novel withloads of action and forward moving action. Iam a huge fan of this series, and if you like the first and second novel you'll only keep enjoying the journey in conroes universe. If you havent yet read he's books, i envy you whats ahead.

This series just keeps getting better and better. I always have a hard time putting down his books once I start reading them and once I finish the current book, I can hardly wait for the next one to come out. I also look forward to his audio books so I can relive the experience. Thanks for providing a truly captivating world for your readers to enjoy.

I have read every one of the demon accords books. Look forward to each new book. The blending of science and supernatural is seamless all made possible by quantum physics. The characters continue grow and develop. Excellent use of snarky wit. I used to love the Disturbed quotes in the early books. Anyhow a great read!!!

Loved the combined Declan / Chris storyline. As usual John writes a book that makes you fight sleep just so you can read one more chapter. Unfortunately the one more chapter usually turns into a night without sleep and a dozen chapters.

I have one complaint regarding this book. It's too damn short! As usual with books from mr Conroe I finished this one in about a day. If not for this irritating need for sleep it would have been in one sitting. I read a lot of urban fantasy these days, and there is no doubt that John Conroe is one of the few authors that brings back the pure joy of reading a good story I remember from my youth. Now it's back to waiting for the next book.

An interesting addition to the Demon Accord series, this book takes the team to new levels.Portals are explored -- one known to Farie, the other(s) unknown. The junior team members along with the "Dragon Speaker" & father, and Mack & Jetta, are sent to Farie to help negotiate a treat between Winter & Summer courts, and the dragons. The senior team members travel to Rome to assist the Vatican with a portal problem...
This story is told from 2 perspectives. The first and in first person, is Chris's view. The second and in third person, is mostly Mack's perspective. Until this point, Mack has been a secondary character, and remains a secondary character though his role is pivotal. The book alternates chapters -- from Chris (on Earth), and Mack (from Farie until the last few chapters).
The Demon Accord series is at its best when addressing small group dynamics, the interplay between major characters, jokes at each other's expense, and growth & trust between team members. Some of this interplay is lost when the scope broadens and, in this book, the scope broadens tremendously -- 2 entire planets. When viewed from Mack's perspective, major characters become caricatures -- Declan is exhausted and extremely distracted, and Stacia aggressively possessive and jealous.
There is almost continuous action within each of the split perspectives. Events on Farie are well outside expectations though, given the "politics" of that world, perhaps they should have been expected. Events on Earth rapidly accelerate from merely assisting the Vatican, to a potential extinction disaster with a great deal of interaction with world leaders.
Interesting choices by Mr. Conroe -- a rapidly increasing scope and interaction with other worlds, and with the choice of characters in which to view the alternating chapter stories. The next book will need to continue, at least to some extent, each story line presented in this book. There's also a reference to a "Nathan scheme" near the book's end -- hopefully this "scheme" will come full-circle and "bite" Nathan & affiliates in the end!
The author has also provided additional clarity within the "multiple worlds". Worlds reached by portal appear to be within "this" Universe, portals merely being shortcuts to different planets (or point-to-point within a specific world). Access to the "Demon world" and wherever the "Bear-God" went when he could no longer stay on Earth seem to be dimensional/multi-world in nature.
A good book, though much of the group interplay that we've come to expect is a bit "washed out"...

Another great read by Conroe. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Ash, Jetta, Mack, Stacia, Ian and Declan arriving of Faire. A Faire that is a world of magic. Magic that Declan will be able to use.
Ash is there as the liason between the dragons and the Winter and Summer courts. She is the only one who can understand the dragons and relay their wishs and ideas to the others. Things are going well until Mack and Jetta are knocked into a portal that sends them 700 miles into the forest. Stacia killed the one who knocked them into that portal and Declan is working as fast as he can to retrieve them.
Mack and Jetta are in the forest and rescue a woman and her child who are being attacked by what look like huge birds. Mack and Jetta use their weapons to kill the birds and speak with the girl and the child. The girl watched them closely and noticed the knives. Knives that are made of iron.
A mounted patrol approaches on horseback and Mack and Jetta are captured and taken to the fort where the girl, child and rescuers are from.
Chris, Tanya, Arkady, Lydia and the rest of the team are in Italy at the Vatican. Seem there are other portals out there that have nothing to do with demons. Chris and his team are in for the fight of their lives.
So begins another fine read by Conroe.
This one has Declan, Stacia, Mack, Jetta, Chris, Tanya the rest of the team, Elder Senka, a Declan who uses everything he can to get to Mack and Jetta, a Mack who is forced to make iron weapons for his captors, a Jetta who is used as leverage to make Mack do as they wish him to do, the girl they rescued who is watching every move they make, beast who attack the fort, a Mack and Jetta who use their returned weapons to drive them off, a Chris and Tanya who are attacked in the tunnels where the portals are, the attackers who are humans that have been changed, humans that are now covered in diamond like shields, shields Chris can overcome, a young girl and her mother who show Mack and Jetta the usefulness of herbs, herbs that cure Mack of his concussion, a concussion he got when the girl they saved hit him over the head, a Declan, Stacia, Ash and Ian who finally arrive, a fight at the fort, an Ash who learns she's been betrayed by the Winter and Summer Queens as well as the dragons and Chris, Tanya and the team doing their best to take out the bad guys, save who they can and stay alive.

Burned out once again on this series. In general i'm a pretty big fan of this series and was really excited to read the latest installment. I had burned out on the original Chris line of stories and had abandoned the series when I found out about the Declan side arc the series had taken. I really enjoyed The Declan and Stacia side adventures. Unfortunately the last 2 books have the same problems that turned me away from the series to begin with.
The problem with John's writing style becomes more apparent(painfully) with the more characters he's juggling. All characters are essentially the same person with the exception of power sets. They all are snarky, they all have the same sense of humor, they all love weapons, they are all essentially men despite their actual sex. I feel like you could plug and play any character in this universe with any other character and it would make zero difference.
*** Minor spoiler ***
Also the "forge me something" plot line just so John could share his life experience with smithing seems extremely contrived. I could read about technical details no problem but to slam it into the plot line with an absurd premise to me just felt bleh.
Just my opinion.

Strong followup from earlier character development and a rollicking good story set on TWO planets. Can't wait for the next book in the series. I've reread the whole series three times at this point!

The series keeps getting better and better, on almost every level, be it the plot, dialog, character development or worldbuilding.
Apart from a few typos, nothing to criticize.
Excellent purchase, as always with the demon accords novels.

love conroe's writing and have read every book.and they would receive 5 stars especially Rogue. Winterfall did not have the action of the other stories in the series and the 2 storylines between each other did not work for me The ending of the Faire storyline was anticlimatic and did not leave a cliffhanger to make me want more. still ready for the next installment

Another winner. This is one of my favorite series. When I started it I was inially a bit disappointed that much of it was from Macks point of view but the way it was written integrated everyone well.
