I just received my first two Love Monster books, Love Monster and Love Monster and the Scary Something. I will soon be ordering the other two books. These books are adorably written and illustrated. I am a toddler teacher and can hardly wait to read them to my class. The stories have positive lessons contained within them and the illustrations are full page and very cute. Great job, Rachel Bright!

Meh. The story wasn't really dynamic enough and the ending was anticlimactic. I thought it would show a monster who loved to love on others-- instead it's about a monster who wants love and gets all mopey because "he can't find it". Also, my kid doesn't really seem interested, so that may affect my opinion, too.

The land of Cutesville is filled with adorable creatures…except poor Love Monster. His difference in appearance causes him to feel like an outcast and despite his name, unloved. He doesn’t let this get him down though. He decides to search for someone who will love him just the way he is. Despite searching high and low, he fails in his quest and is just about to return home alone when he meets his perfect match.

While the book is sweet and my son enjoyed it, the first book in the series is actually my least favorite. The last line stating, “sometimes when you least expect it, love finds you” seemed a bit adult oriented to me. More importantly, I wish there had been one last scene with the  citizens of Cutesville welcoming Love Monster back validating that he was accepted by all no matter how he looks. He is friends with all of the other animals in the subsequent books in the series, but this detail is missed in this book. The other books in the series stand alone and are wonderful.

I should've read the reviews before purchasing!! I bought it because it looked cute and I knew it was a top seller. Why??? It's so sad and depressing! It's definitely not a good book for Valentine's Day, or children.

Love Monster is such a lovely little book, we really loved reading it.

Monster is a little bit different, he's not cute and fluffy, and living in Cutesville that can be pretty tough. He is unloved, so he goes in search of someone to love him, for just being himself. He searches high and low, with no luck. I just wanted to pick this lonely little fellow up an give him a big hug. But in the end love finds him, when he least expects it.

The illustrations in this book are wonderful, they are bold, bright, different and just really stand out of the page. Between the story and the illustrations, this book held my little one's (3) attention throughout, I kept hearing AWWW and poor Monster.

The lesson in this book is brilliant, it teaches you not to judge on looks, it's OK to be different and everybody deserves to be loved.

We received Love Monster in the post this morning and we have already read it four times together, so this book is definitely a winner.

Thank-you Rachel Bright for putting together this lovely little book and thank-you to Harper Collins for sending it for review! We will be looking out for more works form Rachel Bright.

This adorable story is just perfect for my 2 year old son. It is just long enough to keep him fully engaged. It was a fun book to use different tones while reading out loud. The illustrations tell the story wonderfully. There were some parts I worried he wouldn't understand but by looking at the illustrations and listening he was able to figure it out. The book also displays a range of emotions that help him to develop empathy for others and how they are feeling. The book was also teaching the lesson that people (or things) that aren't beautiful to the eye can be beautiful on the inside and they are just as deserving of love as anyone. Wish the author had more books available in board book form. This is my sons go to book every day. I'm sure he would be the same with others by this author.

Rachel Bright’s Love Monster is a heartwarming tale about one little monster’s search for love. Monster (as we’ll call him) is the only hairy, slightly googly-eyed monster in Cutesville, and being the only monster among the utterly cute is not easy. So, Monster sets out to find someone to love him just the way he is, but his search does not go well. That is, until he stops searching for love and lets it find him.

This is such a sweet tale that just gives you all the warm fuzzies inside! Bright has captured the simple, yet breathtaking essence of love, in a way that is both charmingly adorable and captivatingly poignant. Monster’s search for pure, heart-bursting, unconditional love, and discovery of the power of loving oneself, is presented in a way that little readers will absolutely get and connect with.

The illustrations are bright and simplistic and so flippin’ cute! Bright’s hairy, googly-eyed Monster is so delightfully expressive and fun to look at it. I just want a stuffed doll version of him to cuddle!

Witty, warm, and wonderfully rendered, Rachel Bright’s Love Monster is sure to be loved by all!

This has been our sons favorite book since he was 4 months old. The illustrations and colors are great, but the meaning of the story is even better. It's such a cute book! I bought this at Target, but loved it so much I sent one to my nephew.

This is the cutest book....probably one of the cutest I've seen. There's a plush that matches the monster as well that I am going to order as a gift for my little one on Valentines Day. Always nice to read books to them about loving everyone, even if they are different.

It seems impossible for Monster to find someone to love his slightly hairy, bit googly-eyed self in the World of Cute Fluffy Things. Instead of allowing himself to get down in the dumps he becomes proactive and searches for someone who will love him googly-eyed and all.

Adorable illustrations and a lovable character makes this a super cute read kids will LOVE! Wonderful for both a read aloud or independent reading; young students will find many familiar sight words that will help boost reading confidence.

My little guy got this along with some other things for his first Valentine's Day. He LOVES books, but this one is one of his two favorites that we own out of about 20 books! He looooks at all the pictures & smiles...and he listens to the story so intently. There is just something about it. I enjoy it as well, it really is cute. My favorite part is the Monster Store that is not for monsters, and his favorite is when the bus comes at the end with the cute girl monster bus driver. His face really just lights up, it's so cute.

P.S. The book jacket is so gorgeous we are going to make it into a picture for the nursery wall!

Its very cut illistrated however the story isn't for children. It's almost a story written for adults! My 4 year old is very concerned that he left his mommmy and daddy and looked for someone to love him. She wants to know why his mommy and daddy do not love him. He also runs away in search of love. Very cute for adults to read. Not a good story for children.

Cute illustrations but not fond of the story line. In the end only funny looking monsters can fall in love with other funny looking monsters. I think a cute animal from "Cuteville" should see that the monster is lovely and should fall in love with each other.

It's pretty much the opposite of "The Missing Piece Meets the Big O" by Shel Silverstein.

In the end, he's only happy because he got a girlfriend, and for some reason it has to be a monster, one of his own "kind." Would have liked it if he would have found more happiness from within or found a fuzzy cute friend (as in he only falls in love with her cause she's also a monster).

While the illustrations were adorable, the underlying message was that poor monster could never be loved by anyone that was different than him. In a day where I want my children and my students to love and value the differences among their peers, this book only serves to further lead children down a road of being judgmental and narrow minded.

I previewed this book at the book store before buying, and it was horrible! The grammar was so bad I felt it would be a detriment to read to my child. It is obvious why everywhere I've seen it it has been 40-50% off.

Not quite what I expected and luckily my kids won't be able to pick up on the pro gay undertones of this book, but they are clearly there. I wouldn't have bought it if I had read it before I purchased it. But in fairness the illustrations are fantastic, its well written, and nicely executed. As a parent I get to censor content in my home don't know how much I appreciate the motive that I suspect is behind this book. Still undecided if I will introduce it to my kids.
