This book made me realize that one man that loved his freedom could turn the tide for saving not only New Orleans, but the whole country,What a great injustice to his legacy it would be to take his statue down, Every person for that should read this book first and the nuns need to pray it will not be allowed, praise be to God that He put the right man in place for such a time as this.

Brian Kilmeade has done a great job of recounting the battle of New Orleans and its importance in determining the future of our nation. It is amazing to me the courage and results of such young Americans such as General Jackson. This should give hope and encouragement to so many of our youth, if it were only taught in our schools.

Excellent portrayal of President Andrew Jackson. Shows how important his actions and presidency were to the preservation of democracy. He was our first truly popularly elected president. Even though the battle was fought after the war was officially over, his victory stopped British expansion into the American West.

This should be required reading for all U.S. citizens. With knowledge gained from this book, no one who believes in freedom or democracy would dare disrespect the flag or the National Anthem. Washington played the key role in creating the first republic, and Jackson played the key role in preserving it. Neither man was perfect, but both were truly national heroes, along with those of all races and backgrounds who fought with them. If we had lost either war, the whole world might still be under authoritarian governments. Kilmeade and Yeager make history fun to read!

The book was very well written, with historical data that was quite intriguing. I learned information about the War of 1812 and the strategic significance of New Orleans that I was unaware of. Andrew Jackson is an important historical figure that should be celebrated more for the contributions he made in preserving our country and making western expansion possible.
