I bought this book after purchasing my SLR camera and it is the best! It is easy to understand with great pictures and directions. It goes over lenses, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO in ways that even a newbie can understand. I am so glad that I bought this book and have told all my friends about it!

This ebook is an excellent resource, especially for the home photographer who is looking to take their digital SLR off of AUTO -- which anyone that invests in a digital SLR absolutely should! She has a nice balance of text and photos to explain concepts, and I found it extremely simple to take her ideas and try them on my own. My photography has grown leaps and bounds and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for what can be wordy and difficult material made into a much simpler tutorial.

I heard about this book after following a friend's blog. She includes a TON of pictures on her blog, and you could tell a difference before and after reading this book. I just had to have it too! I've tried reading the instruction manual for my camera and just couldn't "get it." Katie makes the confusing camera jargon easy to read and understand. I now take much better pictures! My camera and I have a much better understanding of eachother!

I actually purchased and this book before I got my camera. It made opening the box and getting started so much more fun and exciting. Her directions are easy to follow and she keeps the language simple for us beginners! Starting with a DSLR camera can be a very overwhelming venture, but this book makes it a lot less intimidating. Although I am not new to taking photos, I stumbled upon Katie's site and was really intrigued with this book. So, I bought it and read it, dog-eared it, and applied it to what I already knew. Majority of the information covered is geared towards the basic knowledge to get started, but it also touches on the other aspects of photography such as equipment, shooting in different light and editing. I think it would be most helpful for those starting out and it has more of a benefit than similiar basic guides since it also includes additional information that they can pursue as they grow.
