This was an unexpected joy. You will love every main character in the book. It is so well written and the Author has such a way of expressing emotions that is incredible. I don't want to give any spoilers, but Isabella's emotional change is amazing to behold.

The story of Isabella and her “beastly” duke, Elliot is enchanting. Isabella finds herself falling in love with her scarred husband Elliot even though he hides his face from her in darkness. After a loveless childhood Isabella finds all she missed in her new life. The story is filled with wonderful conversations between Isabella and Elliot.

This is the quentessential beauty and the beast story that we all grew up with and loved. I loved the tenderness the Duke shows and the understanding to not want to scare away Isabella. The Duke had depths to him due to his past injuries and the guilt he was feeling, They are not just one dimensional characters, and the book is a joy to read. The ending, of course, does not disappoint.

Sometimes you just want a hero that isn't perfect. Well, sorry he might not be pretty or should I say dreamily handsome, but he is the perfect man...Sometimes you wish these heroes were for real...Another winner for Ms. Barton

Love this book. Marrying the monster from your childhood because your Father sold you to him would scar any girl,....and this monster comes with his own scars! But as love grows, scars fade. A sweet romance that once again, makes you believe in love.

Once I received this book through arc I could not put it down. It was simply the most beautiful historical romance with humor tragedy and of course romance.. I loved this book from beginning to end. I have to say that it shows that looks doesn't matter when it comes to the heart with this story. It's a must read.

Period stories are usually worth the read. My only 'dislike' is the role women are forced into. However this story shows strength and determination. Isabella and Emse were a hilarious pair and I really liked that. Very strong personalities. Both of them were compassionate and graceful in their own right.

This book was a wonderful story. It had elements of the classic beauty and the beast and yet, also had plenty of interesting twists in the plot. I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Barton writes with an engaging style and points out some of the difficulties of living in society as a peer. Great book!

Cute read. Obviously a Beauty and the Beast tale with a slight twist. I found the characters decent and fun to watch adapt to life with one another. I did like that karma seemed to play one heck of a role in the secondary characters' lives.

Isabella is sold in marriage to a Duke. Elliott is more than just scarred from burns, his heart is scared as well. Bridget Barton had woven a wonderful story that takes us step by step down a journey to acceptance and love. Could not put this book down. A must read!

A different theme to this Regency romance; a beauty and the beast type of story. It was well written and the characters well developed. A lot of sadness in this story, and some slow parts, but still enjoyable.

Great book for the genre! The characters were well developed and compelling for me. There were a couple plot lines that seemed to peter out at the end (unrelated to the main characters) and I would have loved a little more closure there. It is great to have characters and the story develop without a lot of gratuitous sex scenes! It seems I always have to skip so many pages:) This story unfolded with enough fantasy to stay fiction but with enough reality to stay relevant. I love a story that brings out the inside beauty of people.

It's always a joy to find clean recency romances, and even better when they have such depth and emotion. I loved this book, I loved the MCs and how they slowly bonded and came to realize their feelings for each other. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed the book thoroughly. The story opens the reader to multiple meanings and life lessons. My only wish is that the story could have been longer to unfold what happened to Isabella’s father and brother.

This was a cute story, with nice character interactions that felt realistic rather than excessively dramatic and a nicely done slow build romance. Would recommend with enthusiasm!

I liked the leading lady's positive spirt. However, the story is so repetitive. Constantly going over and over about the dukes face, hiding it, etc. Frankly, it got boring. The story dragged out way too long. All the constant repeating could have been replaced with more meaningful and deeper storyline.
