I do enjoy reading Bridget Barton books. This author never lets you down. I loved the good guys and wanted to smack the bad ones. One bad guy I wanted to push over a cliff. Lol no cliffs in the area. Enjoy this book.

While the storyline and writing were good, I felt like there was a great build up to Hunter and Emmaline's romance just to have it end rather abruptly after their declaration to each other. The climax of the story just seemed to end with not much of a satisfying ending which was slightly disappointing after the wonderful exchange of words the couple had throughout the book. Overall good quality.

This is a well written book by Bridget Barton. It kept my interest and it left you wondering how things were going to turn out. Hunter and Emmaline took a marriage proposal of convenience and mixed everything all up. Read it to find out how it all ends up.

Hmmmmmm. I respect that writting is a difficult task. This was not a favorite of mine. The characters were stilted and the story very predictable. I will not be reading more hut some may find it a calming quick read.

This book would have been better served as a much shorter novella. I hate not finishing a book so I trudged through till the end, however, the storyline was flat. Everything was predictable. Every. Thing. Also, there is no literary reason why characters are referred to by their first and last names several chapters into the book.

The plot was very well thought out. I sympathized with the two main characters, and rooted for them at the same time. The secondary characters we're well developed. I can't wait to see what might happen between Rose and Algernon, in the next installment of the series. Hint - hint! A great read! Very diverting!

The story of Hunter and Emmeline who were betrayed by the ones they love. They come to an agreement to marry for convenient but not everyone is pleased.
I enjoyed the supense and twist and would recommend this book.

In all honesty this book was.....eh. Bland. Know it's a sweet romance, but seriously no kissing!!? Not even after their first (finally!! It was dragged out for SO long) declaration of love? The evil scheme was a nice twist, albeit out of the blue and completely random--guess just a way for the author to get the characters to declare themselves to each other. Some of the conversations between the characters were repetitive and found myself doing the circle/repeat gesture with my finger and skimming huge chunks of text. It was nice that the protagonists had their hearts broken in order for them to come together in the first place, but I find it odd that a man, even a gentleman, would make that kind of proposal Hunter made to Emmeline. In the end, if this is your first historical romance/Regency romance or you are contemplating this genre this is a okay book to get you started. I promise the others are not this bland; there are a plethora of really good books in this genre that are sweet and clean but also have heat and depth

This story about two people determined not to love again only to find love for each other may be a bit cliche, but the stories well written tone makes it a wonderful weekend read.

Full disclosure-I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

This novel was really engaging. I loved the characters and really enjoyed the dynamic between the sisters and mother. It's refreshing to read a story with loving, kind, funny characters. Sweet relationships developed at the perfect pace.

You will love this story.

It's entertaining at times but certainly no great piece of literature. Plot is unoriginal and seems to be an attempt at mimicking Jane Austen. Not a terrible book but not great. Writing style leaves something to be desired, with abrupt flashes forward and backward in time

Overall this was a very delightful read. There was enough suspense to keep me reading longer into the night than intended. The only downside for me was that everything seemed to be so formal most of the time. I kept hoping that the main characters would loosen up a little bit.

A true gem! Infuriating, suspenseful, & thankfully satisfying when all was said & done! My heart went out to Emmeline & Hunter, both undeserving of the betrayal from those who owed it to them Most. I anticipated their HEA, sure I wouldn't be disappointed (they earned it), and yay (!) I wasn't. Very good read!

I really loved this book. I read the entire thing in one night because I couldn't put it down. From the first page to the last, I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Hunter and Emmaline are wonderful characters that you feel a connection with.
