I've bee eagerly anticipating this conclusion after the ending to book one and it did not disappoint. on that end. It came soon after Even Money so it's still fresh. It's no doubt still full of suspense and intrigue and keeps you guessing and reading! I was on the edge of my seat still and riveted through it all. What will happen and who will come out the winner?

After how things ended now more questions abound and more secrets to be uncovered. With things happening it's a continuous race, full of u turns and road blocks and signs that things aren't what they seem. It's all a mind game to see who can outwit and outplay the other, so many players involved now though. Expect twists and turns in how it plays out. Very aptly titled as a blackjack term, a risky hand to play that could win it all or be a disaster.

I've enjoyed Alessandra Torre's romantic suspense, good build up and the right amount of romance, suspense and heat. She makes them engaging and unputdownable. The need to know what happens next, who will emerge triumphant. She makes good characters too you like a lot.

We also get to know more about Dario's past and it's just as intense as the guy now. You can understand why Bell is captivated into him despite the dangers. He was edgier for me in the first book but he was still a consummate protector and determined to keep Bell. For a book two it lost some steam, I wish a few loose ends were tied up better but it's still a riveting and sexy duet that's compelling worth a read! 7

This thrilling story arrive fast enough in order to discover what direction the author took after the mother load of cliffhangers at the end of Even Money.
The much anticipated conclusion is here, or is it?
Scorching hot, intriguing storyline and an easy to follow story. BUT, you cannot even understand this story without reading Even Money first.
The story picks up right where book 1 ends.
This installment was captivating, full of danger, mystery, and swoonworthy romance.
Fun, exciting and just a fun read!!
The chemistry and banter between Bell and Dario, was intense, seductive and combustible. Their bond was undeniable even if the odds were stacked against them. But what’s in store for them?
Even the secondary characters were just as combustible and perfectly developed.
After the climactic scene and what led to it, I had a lot of questions as to what led to that particular scene!
Nonetheless, it was the characters’ and their words that had me thoroughly enjoying this read from beginning to end.
However, I felt that there was not enough back story about what led to certain situations that unfolded. In fact, there were certain pivotal scenes in the story that posed questions that were never answered or clarified.
In fact, there were elements of the story that felt rushed, and we never learn the disposition of one of the villains in this read.
This led me to suspect is there another book in the forecast?
I’m more than ok with that!

Double Down is the continuation and conclusion to the All In series. One of the things that I liked about this book is, it starts exactly where Even Money ended. So if you have not read Even Money, the first book in this duet, please read that first. I have come to the conclusion, after reading this duet, that Ms. Torre is a master of romantic suspense. Just when you think that Ms. Torre couldn't surprise you, she does. I had more than few WTF moments. And of course the twisted darkness of her writing is just down right captivating.
The main characters, Bell and Dario, grew so much in this sequel. The intense need that these two people have for each other is palpable. Like the previous book this book is also hot as hell. This book gives us a good look into what Dario's life was like before he became successful, and makes him even move attractive and sexy. A new character, Laurent, who grew up with Dario, was introduced in this book. I would love to read a book dedicated to him.
Ms. Torre wrapped up this series in a very delightful sexy way . But, it did leave a tiny window open for another book. And I certainly wouldn't mind reading a spin off of this series. So if you are looking for a dark twisted love story that is chock full of deceit, suspense and nail biting pages look no further, it doesn't get ant better then the All In Series.

Before I get into my review.... let me say that I really do not understand why Even Money and Double Down were published as a duet. Neither book is very long and Double Down begins at basically what would be the halfway point of the overall story.

I should also note that this review is more for the over all tale than just the portion that is Double Down as this book does not stand in its own and I truly believe both portions would have been stronger had they been published as one work.

I enjoyed the complicated layers to this story and the intrigue element. I found myself likening Bell, Dario, and the secondary cast even as I wished for more in terms of emotional growth and a deeper dive into who they were as people.

This is well written and most of my issues/concerns with this duet probably fall under personal preference, so I don’t dive too deep into them. The Even Money/Double Down set is definitely entertaining and overall is worth reading. As I read an advanced copy, I struggle with recommending the books depending on the price point of the published editions. Both books really need to be read for either to work well, so please take that into consideration. I will say that the story here left me wanting more. Not only would I like to know where Bell and Dario finally end up, I would like to know more about several of the secondary characters.

*Double Down begins where Even Money left off (with a massive cliffhanger!) This is the conclusion of the All In Duet and should only be read after completing Even Money.*

Bell Hartley and Dario Capece’s complicated relationship has taken a turn for the impossible. With someone out there wishing them harm, and their lives as they know them beginning to unravel, they will have to lean on each other to get them through it all. But, even the most solid of connections may sever in the face of an unknown danger that they have no idea they need to fight…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really enjoyed the All In Duet, and in this book we are thrown into what happens immediately after the cliffy in Even Money. Questions are answered, yet everything is about to get a whole lot worse than Bell and Dario had ever thought possible…
While I loved book #1, in the conclusion of the duet there was not a lot of excitement in Bell and Dario’s relationship itself. This book focused mostly on tying up loose ends and the outlying dangers that still threaten Bell and Dario, and their life together.
The All In Duet is overflowing with suspense, hot sex and a fast paced unconventional love story that you will not want to miss…
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
“The stunning conclusion to the ‘All In’ duet”..... that’s exactly what the synopsis states, and for the record, it’s no exaggeration. EPIC! Following the cliffie from book 2, I’m grateful to say I didn’t have to wait too long to find out which direction Torre was going to go with this story. Following directly on from book 1 we see Dario slip straight into CEO mode, taking charge of the situation and trying to protect Bell from the crazy that is Gwen’s family. Not happy with Dario’s idea of protection, Bell has to just suck it up, which amazingly she does. While she’s doing that we get to meet the adorable, yet deadly, Laurent, Cajun book boyfriend extraordinaire. Just when they thought everything was under control and getting back to normal, the tables are turned and Dario’s nightmare comes to life. Fantastic characters (Dario and Bell have awesome friends), an explosive storyline, full of action and suspense, along with a romance that I was desperate to see succeed, they had so much chemistry together. Never knowing which direction the story was going to take, all I could do was sit back and enjoy the ride. A full five star ride. I was hooked from the very first page of book 1 through to the very last page of book 2, addicted, to put it mildly. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
'I was in a horrible mess with a man I couldn’t seem to connect with, but I loved him. And he, somewhere among that cold indifference, loved me.
I had to believe that.'
If you were like me after finishing Even Money, you couldn’t wait to get your hands on this book to see how things played out after the doozy of a cliffhanger we were left with. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait long to get our hands on the conclusion of this story. There won’t be much I can say about this book in order to avoid spoilers so this will be a quick review. Not surprisingly, it picks up right where the first book left off and there’s pretty much not a dull moment from there on out. It was very interesting to see where things went as the story unfolded. I was surprised by how quickly some of the threats were vanquished and equally surprised that a pretty big loose end was left dangling for us to ponder on (I’m thinking this was done intentionally, though). The action and suspense were nonstop and the romance was steamy as ever. There were a few things that I would have liked to of seen play out differently but all in all, I enjoyed the conclusion of this fast-paced, edgy, suspenseful, and sexy duet!
“You’re the only thing holding me together, Bell. Just tell me you won’t give up on me.”
I loved this series for so many reasons. The characters were interesting, the plot intriguing, the sex scorching and the writing tight and perfect. Once I picked this up I couldn’t put it down and now, long after I’m done, I’m still craving more of Bell and Dario.
Picking up right where Even Money left off, Double Down deals with the attempt on Bell’s life and the lengths Dario must go through to protect the woman he loves. I found his protectiveness to be oh-so alpha, and adored reading about Dario putting Bell above everything. Sending her to his home in Louisiana to protect her, I enjoyed seeing the humble beginnings where this King of Las Vegas began. It humanized this larger than life man and made him just that much more desirable to me.
Alessandra Torre’s ability to spin a tale full of twists and suspense and unresolved ends drew me in, and I truly could not put this book down. While I longed for a happily ever after for this couple, I can’t say that I’m sorry that everything was not wrapped up on a nice neat bow. The secondary characters were so interesting and likeable that I’d love to see some of them again, and while Bell and Dario deserve their happy ending, I’d invite more drama if it meant getting to experience more of their brand of romance.
I loved Both Even Money and Double Fown. They were both filled with romance, laughter and thrills. Double Down was especially thrilling especially when they got to the warehouse scenes. But I didn’t like the ending. To me there was no closure. I like a book to have either a HEA ending and a satisfying ending. This one had the HEA but not the satisfying ending. I didn’t like the way it set Claudia up to be able to be out of jail in ten years time with millions of dollars at her disposal set to ruin Bell and Dario. Unless there is going to be a third book which the author didn’t allude to, since this was a duet, how do we know what happens fown the road to our 2 main characters? Plus, I can’t believe with all they had on Claudia that she would only get 10 years. That wasn’t very realistic.
I loved the characters in the book especially her friends from the house and Dario’s friends from Louisiana. How loyal they were and there when needed. All in all, it was a great story. Some sadness regarding Gwen and Nick but since they never built up that relationship in the book I didn’t feel a connection to them. Anyway I hope she brings out a final book where everything is 10 years down the road and they get to finish off Claudia once and for all
I was dying for this book after the cliffhanger at the end of Even Money. I needed to what happened, and all the secrets and mysteries this events created. Double down surely kept me riveted to the pages of this suspense filled romance.
Lord, how I love Dario. The dirty mouth, the protective streak. Everything about him hits all the characteristics I love in my heroes. Belle was a bit flat for me in this book. I liked her. She is a fighter and unwilling to give up in what and who she wants, but I would have liked to know her a bit more.
The two of them in the bedroom are FIRE! I loved it, and I felt the chemistry, maybe not as intense but still there, outside of the bed. I felt that their love is authentic, and their emotions for one another read as believable.
A lot happens in this story, so much that I felt like so parts might have been glossed over a bit; however, I was captivated with the story she gave. I didn’t want to stop reading. I did enjoy the ending of the book, but there were some unanswered questions that I wish I would have had.
Alessandra Torre always delivers steamy reads, but this was my first suspense romance from her and I’ll be back for more.
Double Down picks right back up where we left off in Even Money and after that cliffhanger, I couldn’t wait to get back to it.
Devastation and destruction have erupted full force in Dario’s life, causing a domino effect that leaves him and all who he loves in danger. From the glittering city of Vegas to the swamps of Louisiana, no one is safe.
The twists and turns in this book make for a fantastic plot. With each threat that is handled, another waits in the wings. Ready to pounce and hell bent on extracting revenge, all to make Dario pay for falling in love with Bell.
The insta-lust, turn insta-love definitely gives this book a scorching hot rating from me. Dario and Bell’s need for one another lives and breathes in the pages and would almost be perfect if it weren’t for all the lying, arrests and death they have to endure in order for them to be with each other.
The dark elements of the story make it a raw and gritty read that will rope you in until the final page.
It’s well written and deserves a place in the ranks with other titles by this author.
I would highly recommend Double Down after reading Even Money......it’s a gamble that will pay off.
Bring on the next book Alessandra Torre and congratulations on a job well done!
2018 has been the year of exceptional reads for me. This includes duets and trilogies. Even Money and Double Down are ranked very high on my list of favorite reads! How do I even compare it to anything else? I loved the suspense, the action, the mystery of it all. This isn't just a romance, a love triangle of sorts. This story has been so much more. The mysteriousness of what's going to happen next, will justice be served, will they be found? It all kept me on the edge of my seat up until the very end. I see so many possibilities stemming from this duet. I want so many more stories to tie off from Double Down. I want so many more characters to be given the chance to have their say. It wasn't just about Dario and Bell, but also Gwen, Lance, Rick, and even Laurent. I really want more of Laurent. I know something is hiding with that one. It's about Claudia and her before story. I couldn't get enough. I snuck a page in wherever I could. I wanted so badly to savor each word, to try to piece it all together without rushing ahead, but I couldn't. My patience was paper thin. I had a NEED to know how it ended. Even after finding out, I'm still left wanting more. These are my favorite kinds. How even after reading the end, I'm left with endless possibilities running through my mind. I WANT MORE!!
The sexy suspenseful ending in the All In Duet opens at full speed. The story picks up with the cliffy that emerged in Book 1. Grief and sadness along with anger and questions come full circle.
Dario and Bell and their relationship.......they have found each other in a sea of impossibilities. But what they feel can’t be denied and whatever the craziness of their lives throws at them, they remember that love. I loved that the author kept that reminder in the story because there was lots thrown at this couple.
Deaths, FBI, Whys, Guilt, and Love...... all these things swirl in this story. The story stars out fast pace but does do a little slow down. The extra characters, Meredith and Laurent, were great. I wished there had been more of Rick and Lance but when present, they are full guns blazing.
Dario and Bell, their commitment and their love are what triumph in the story. So many obstacles, so many evil deterrents, but so much passion and desire to overcome and survive.
I hope that this isn’t the end for Dario and Bell. I would have liked an extended Epilogue, somewhat farther out in their relationship. I want more of their love and to see what the future had planned for them in Sin City.
This was an action packed, dark, twisty, and shocking conclusion to the All in Duet. This story picks up right where the first book left us and doesn’t stop until the last page. This story was intense, original, and kept me hooked the entire time. Definitely one of my top favorite duets of the year and all time.
I absolutely love all of the different perspectives we get in this series. The detail and connections it adds makes the story unique and gripping. I get more and more addicted to Torre’s writing every time I read one of her stories. I love when she writes romantic suspense and hope for more of it soon!
I can only hope we get a movie or a TV show based on this duet. The action, characters, and story is perfect for on screen! I also hope we get some stories for some of the secondary characters in this series, especially Rick and Lance. I feel as if we could get some other books in this world as there were a couple of loose ends left open. It did not deter me from loving this book and giving it all the stars.
A girl can only hope for all of the above to happen!
Read this duet! If you love forbidden romances with suspense, danger, twists, and turns, you can’t miss this amazing story!
You know all those posts, polls, etc that ask you which character is your favorite Book Boyfriend? I have used the same answer for the last 5 years, but now I have a new answer – Dario Capece. This character is everything that you could want in a hot alpha that will do any and everything for the woman he loves.
The conclusion to the All In Duet, Double Down is a masterpiece of the written word. Alessandra Torre brings it all to the page with her brilliant writing, outstanding characters and thrilling storyline.
The continuation of Dario and Bell’s story was everything I wanted. The twists and turns that the story took were spot on. Bringing us to an ending that while gratifying, also left a little nagging in the back of my mind concerning the ultimate ending to this tale.
Every time I pick up an Alessandra Torre book, I expect to be blown away and she did not disappoint with the All In Duet. These books have jumped to the top of my Best Of list and I will be highly recommending them to anyone that wants romance, suspense and hotness.
What a phenomenal story! It had just the right amount of everything to completely consume me for days. Alessandra Torre killed it with this duet!
I loved Dario. He was wealthy, powerful, dominant. When he turned his sights on Bell he became obsessed, protective and tender. When danger came Bell's way, Dario was fascinating to read about. These two have become one of my favorite couples.
I was worried at first how the ending of book one was going to effect this book but I think the author did a fantastic job of keeping us at the edge of our seats. It was just the right amount of dark, romance, suspense and a touch of horror. Everything that happens really makes these characters shine.
There are some really great side characters that I need to see get there own book. The fact that the author left a tiny little loose thread gives me hope that as an overall series, this isn't over. This is one of those storylines that just make you want more!
Double Down is a continuation of the All in Duet so you must read book 1 first. ARC provided by NetGalley.
I was very much anticipating the release of Double Down. I couldn’t wait to read what would happen next in Dario and Bell’s story. Things unfolded rather quickly as Alessandra Torre throws you into this story. Just when they thought things couldn’t get any worse, they were definitely taken by surprise. Even with everything going on however, they were still able to build strength in their relationship. They didn’t let the unknown wedge a gap in between them. There were some comical moments with Dario and Bell’s roommates that practically had me in tears. I liked that we got more of a glimpse into Dario’s past and where he’s from. Laurent is definitely a character that I would love to read more of. While I enjoyed the conclusion, I guess I expected more drama when it came to the “main” villain. I was left wishing we would have gotten more evilness from this character as opposed to the one who did end up complicating Dario and Bell’s lives even more. All in all, while the story was a bit slow at times, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Alessandra Torre in the future.
I enjoyed this duet. I enjoyed book one, Even Money. I really enjoyed the suspense and side characters in Double Down that much more. I feel like Dario and Bell’s relationship was able to shine a bit more in this book. It was less sexy forbidden and more passionate and emotional. It was suspenseful, and wrapped up this tumultuous love story with a nice little bow. However, the bow may have been a little too bright pink for my taste, and some of the ends a little loose. I enjoyed the entire story, but did feel the ending wasn’t what I was expecting. It’d be nice to have an extended epilogue with some wrap ups for some of the side characters, and one major (in my opinion) loose end. Other than that it was good. The ending wasn’t terrible... and I wouldn’t let it dissuade you from reading this book. I just want MORE. Do you think begging would work with this author?
All in all a great duet. If you’re looking for forbidden romance and suspense. THIS is an excellent read. It reads sort of like watching a sitcom. Layers slowly peeled back through the chapters and POV’s.
The perfect ending for this action packed love story of Dario and Bell. Bell continues to be a strong independent woman who knows how to say no. It’s actually her super power and Dario’s kryptonite. Book one Even Money ends in cliff and this book picks up right from that point and heads straight in to an action packed thrill ride. It’s an amazing journey. A great suspenseful story with loads of loving along the way.
Let me gush just a bit about the readers. Duet reading, Dexter Collins reading the male lines, and Elizabeth Powers the female lines. NOT chapters, the actual dialogue. It’s amazing and now my new gold standard for readers. Dexter does a great job as Laurent with a thick Cajun accent. The readers make the journey 1/2 the fun.
The book ends with a glorious happily ever after for two people who are perfect for each other without losing their personal identities along the way. Add this series to your must read list, it’s an action packed thrill ride.
My favorite stories are dark romance but if I had to pick a second it would be romantic suspense. It's one of the reasons I love Alessandra's books. She does an amazing job with these stories and read everything she puts out.
This duet was the first time I had to stop and think about what I would rate it, as far as Alessandra's books go. I usually know as soon as the book ends what I want to rate it. The reason I was still on the fence was because I was not 100% sold on their relationship. I never truly felt the connection they said they had. The story was a solid 4 stars. I think if a few things would have been played out more and not glossed over it would have been rated higher for me. If I could have felt more from Dario and Bell I think the glossed over story parts would not have felt as lacking as it did.
I enjoyed these books like I always do from her, but they will not be my favorite from her. If they sound like you would enjoy them I do recommend you read the books. I look forward to what she has coming out next.
"Why Double Down?"
"It fits us. You could have given up ………….. Or kept the stakes the same. But you didn't. I didn't. We risked more. Raised the stakes. Emotionally, went in deeper. At least, I did."
"Me too."
In Double Down all the stakes are raised higher and the risks more dangerous than ever for Bell and Dario, their explosive love and the life/future they want together all on the line! The devil in this high stakes game has struck and Dario is instantly in protection mode, securing Bell's safety is his highest concern then next in line is bringing down the cruel heartless devil. But how can you win this game that threatens all you have and ever wanted when there's an unknown spawn of the devil to do his bidding!!
This second part of the All In Duet was a riveting conclusion filled with page turning suspense that kept me hooked, sexy passionate unstoppable love that kept my kindle steamy, and an ending that felt like winning all the bets (but left me with feelings of possibility for more???).
The conclusion…again, WOW! We met and fell in love with Dario and Bell in Even Money. We followed their journey to finding each other and trying to find a happiness that neither had ever found. Their HEA seemed like it was destined to fail. His marriage, her past, his business, her future…everything seemed like it was going to pull them apart.
Double Down is the HEA we wanted. It isn’t pretty and neat and tied up with a little bow. But I am so happy that Ms. Torre stayed true to the love. There wasn’t any doubt of how much Dario and Bell loved each other. He was willing to do whatever it took to keep her safe and still have a future with her. And Bell was willing to trust him, even though she had been burned by trusting in the past and had no reason to believe in men.
I love reading stories of real people. People who have faults and struggles. People who overcome incredible odds in the name of love. If you haven’t read Even Money, get it now and start from the beginning of this incredible love story.
Double Down is the highly anticipated conclusion of Alexandrea Torre’s All In Duet. I have been anxiously awaiting its arrival and I can honestly say I wasn’t the least bit disappointed. Double Down picks up right where Even Money left off. When book one ended I was worried about how Dario was going to treat Belle in Double Down. Was he going to blame her? Break things off to keep her safe? I was so happy with how he treated her and how he put her first. He honestly loved the woman more than he ever thought he would and treated her that way. He sent her to his home town in Louisiana to keep her safe until he knew that she’d be safe returning to Las Vegas. I loved everything about this duet. The main characters, supporting characters, the action, the suspense aspect and the sexy times. The writing is phenomenal and I think everyone will enjoy this duet as much as I did. I’m happy with the way things ended, but I’m secretly hoping for more of these characters.
*****SCREAMS*****
Okay now that's out of the way...Alessandra Torre never disappoints me. I know that no matter what she puts her characters, my heart and fragile psyche through, it will always work itself out in the end. The main characters were perfect for me. Don't get me wrong sometimes I love a book where the heroine needs the man to tell her what to do. Bell was one of my most favorite female main characters ever. She was no nonsense, didn't need a man to help her get through life/provide for her. Dario was the perfect mix of bad boy/billionaire/dominate. He didn't understand Bell's need to be independent which was a fault of his. They were the perfect match for each other, his hard and unwillingness, to her power to make him bend. Torre's side characters through this duet were powerfully written as well, and I look forward (read: hold on to hope) to reading them in their own stories. *I'm looking at you Alessandra....I need more Lance, Rick and even Laurent.*
I finished Even Money yesterday, and couldn't wait to dive into Double Down to see where Bell and Dario's story took them. Double Down was RIVETING, keeping my thoughts engaged throughout the dark and twisty events that were laid out perfectly. The pace, for me, never lagged. I was always flipping the pages faster to get to the next part of the story. Not only did you get some romance and sex, there was also an air of unpredictability and suspense throughout the whole book. It was the perfect mix of it all.
While the ending was satisfying I expected, that because this was a duet, that the ending would be wrapped up nicely in a neat little package and tidy bow. No such luck, and I should have know that with the author. While the ending left me satisfied FOR NOW, there was a pretty sizable loose end just fluttering back and forth in the wind. Sort of like that rouge hair that you can feel brushing against you, but no matter how hard you try you just can't find it to remove it. This feeling isn't enough to warrant a change in how I decided to rate Double Down. It wouldn't hurt me to find out that Torre is planning on doing another book (or few) to finally tie down that fluttering loose end. *COUGH COUGH* I need more!
Overall though Double Down is a full of suspense conclusion to Alessandra Torre's, All In Duet, that not only satisfies your need for closure but also leaves a door, not so widely, open to the possibility of additional books to smoothly finish out the story of Bell and Dario.
As Double Down is a continuation of the All In Duet Book 1, Even Money, must be read first. Advanced copy was provided by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I LOVED this Duet and DOUBLE DOWN left me reeling for me! The first book in this duet, EVEN MONEY, is such a great first book setting up the forbidden romance and leaving you with hoping for a happily ever after for Dario & Belle. Double Down begins right where that EPIC cliffhanger leaves you and I am so grateful that we didn't have to wait too long for the concluding book.
The ending is still killing me with leaving one thing left open... Don't take the as a reason to not read this duet because you WILL LOVE Dario & Belle's story its just perhaps an epilogue or short story for these characters would be nice, PLEASE ALESSANDRA????? Double Down gives you more feeling for Dario & Belle and looking forward to seeing their relationship play out. I would say this book has way more suspense than a steamy romance novel. Its such an ADDICTIVE DUET that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it! And if these are you first books by this author definitely check out MOONSHOT!
Double Down opens right where Even Money left off. From that very first page, the novel moved forward at a quick pace. The suspense was high, and it kept me on the edge of my seat as the story played out.
Dario and Bell still had that strong connection that developed between them in book one, and the love they shared could certainly be felt, I only wish they had a few more steamy and/or romantic moments together.
This book focused more on the drama, action, and suspense aspects of the story and less on the romantic side. I found the build-up to be great, but the climactic point was mediocre and everything was too quick to wrap up. The 'villain showdown' so to speak didn't really happen and I suppose I was expecting something more.
Despite having less of a romantic focus, Double Down was an intense and gripping read. The duet as a whole was an entertaining ride. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a romantic suspense fan!
Double Down - Alessandra Torre
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What an absolutely amazing story.
Bell and Dario are flung into a passionate affair and though Dario’s wife Gwen is ok with Dario’s side action, she can see a change in him. This new woman is different.....she’s changed Dario.
With so many twists and turns to this story, particularly when Claudia makes her presence felt, you can’t help reading on the edge of your seat.
Torture, kidnaping, captive women, a seriously brooding lead character in Dario and a women with strength in Bell, this has been one of the best dark romantic suspense stories I’ve ever read but thankfully no cliff hanger this time.
The combination of Even Money and Double Down have now peaked my interest and I’ll be scoping out more of Alessandra Torre’s work. I’m totally hooked.
Brilliant story, great characters, some seriously twisted and psychotic ones at that but plenty of heat and passion.
Suspenseful and gripping with some steamy parts throughout! A combo that led to a 3:00 AM read-a-thon for me so I could finish it. I had hoped that it would live up to the book hangover Even Money had left me in, but Ms. Torre did not disappoint. Per usual.
Laurent is my new favorite supporting character in this duet. He added so much to the book that was needed throughout the dark and suspenseful theme to lighten it up a bit.
Though I love a sexy read, I liked that this book leaned more toward the conflict than the heat. While Bell and Dario did burn up the sheets, it wasn't as strong a focus as it was in the first book. However, it was perfect for the second part of their story.
This duet is one of the best stories I've read so far this year. I'd love for the author to surprise us with a third book! I want more of this couple and how their future pans out.
**I received an ARC of this book from the author through Netgalley.**
Double Down is an absolutely thrilling conclusion to the All In duet, and quite the display of Torre’s talent at mixing suspense with romance. The first installment was the slow climb to the top of the roller coaster with a sensuality that beguiled and a little bit of mystery that built as it climbed to the top, but then this second half was the downward fall that snatched my breath away and gobbled up every thought from my mind as it brought me through every twist and turn.
For fear of revealing anything, I’ll be very brief—With moments of darkness and grime, what continually shines through is the attraction and love between Dario and Bell. What kept the pages turning was my devotion to them, to finding out whether or not they’d be okay at the end…everything else around it was a wonderfully breathtaking cherry on top of their love story. I enjoyed every single moment this duet had to offer and many will be captivated with it just as I was.
After a jaw dropping cliffhanger at the end of book one I was dying for book two and Alessandra did not disappoint. What a crazy intense, shocking conclusion to the All In duet. Double Down pretty much double dose on the steamy, passionate romance between Dario and Bell. The sizzling chemistry and the heated sex scenes are off the chart hot!!! Alessandra got this down!!!
All the action, drama, suspense, twists and turns continue with this book which kept me on the edge of my seat and glued to the kindle until the end. The plot is quite mind-blowing with murder, kidnap, secrets, deceit, betrayal – very unique.
Love the epilogue – lots of “I love you” but I want more. Maybe an extended epilogue / novella is in the near future?
All In duet is a romantic suspense genre – gritty, thrilling, fast-paced, combined with the author’s excellent storytelling and superb writing = one fascinating read!
Double Down is the thrilling and engrossing conclusion of the All In Duet. As usual, there'll be no spoilers from me.
Once again, author Alessandra Torre has created another suspenseful masterwork with twists and turns, mixed with madness and the obsession for total control, that will have you feverishly flipping pages until the very end.
This book has a great story-line, a fantastic plot, is fast-paced, flawlessly well-written, chilling, exciting and compelling. The connection and chemistry between Dario and Bell is palpable. In addition, the rest of the characters were likeable, amusing and clever.
All in all, this story has it all, the right amount of humor, angst, tears and steamy passionate scenes. I greatly enjoyed and highly recommend it. However, don't forget to start with book one, though.
4.75 Stars only because Claudia's outcome... way to easy!
I really loved this book, it jumps straight in from the ending of the first book and it’s really fast paced. I read it in one day as I just couldn’t put it down.
Its full of twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat right up to the end. I was a little concerned with Dario in the first few chapters but didn’t take long to realise his master plan and I loved how everything he did put Bell first. He’s so totally in love with her it was lovely to read. Bell is just as smitten and I liked that she didn’t let her insecurities cloud her judgement too much and trusted that Dario was as committed as she was. They have electrifying chemistry and you can really feel that they will be just as in love in their old age as they are now.
It’s a really good duet and I’ll be interested to see if we will get anymore with these characters as I loved how the storyline was left. There’s definitely room for more!
DOUBLE DOWN by Alessandra Torre is an emotional thrill-ride from beginning to end. This is the second half of the All In Duet and completes Bell and Dario's love story. Double Down is a roller-coaster from the first page because it takes up where Even Money ended and keeps going from there.
Want to talk about heat level? Alessandra Torre takes the heat level and turns it all the way up and through the roof. I loved the character development for Dario and Bell, but also the peripheral characters within the story. The multiple points of view add to heighten emotions throughout the book and are just one more thing that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Alessandra Torre's writing is superb and if you're like me you'll find that you can't put the book down once you start reading! And I'm just going to throw this out there. I love, love, love Laurent. That is all. Oh, and go buy this book ASAP!
Double Down was unputdownable!!!! After that brutal cliffy in book 1 of this duet I needed book 2 ASAP! I needed to know all the things!!!!!
Alessandra Torre has a knack for writing romantic suspense and I get sucked in every time! I gobbled this book up in one sitting. I. Couldn’t. Stop.
Even Money, book 1 in this duet was the infancy of our H and h’s relationship. I thought they’d been through it, but it was nothing compared to DD! It was the built up to the fall down....
This book was thrilling, exciting, suspenseful, steam filled, angst filled and WTF filled! The author spun a web that I got caught in from cover to cover. Such detail and care went into this wild ride and made it even more enjoyable.
Twists you won’t see coming. Plot points that make you go...WHAT?????!!!! DD picks up right where Even Money left off so get ready to be wowed!
Double Down is the dramatic and amazing conclusion to the All In Duet. It's full of so many twists and turns, it had me on the edge of my seat. It's vibrating with angst and suspense. The entire book is everything I wanted and more.
Double Down starts off immediately where Even Money left off and I was just as captivated the second time around with Dario and Bell's story. The plot is thrilling, concise, fast-paced and well written. Alessandra Torre does a fantastic job of addressing the unresolved issues that happened in Even Money and it was well worth the wait. And once again she blew my mind!!! I devoured Double Down in one day as I just couldn't put it down.
If you are looking for a book with an addictive, sexy and suspenseful plot; then this is definitely the book for you. I highly recommend reading Even Money and Double Down, you will not be disappointed.
5+
Wow! This book was superb, fabulously written and wonderfully addictive. The plot kept my head spinning and every single page had something different happening to boggle my brain.
The story continued straight on from Even Money and just blew my mind. The different points of view from all the main characters were absolutely perfect to keep me up with what was going on and why. What a complicated tangle of deception and evil!
Bell and Dario jumped from one life threatening moment to another. Deliciously devious goings on with Dario's evil father-in-law, Robert Hawk, and his protege, Claudia; they are just superbly evil and I wanted them to suffer a painful death from the first moment I met them.
There is so much to say about this series but I'm going to let you read it. You MUST start with Even Money though. Go ahead! Buy it!
4.5⭐️
4.5⭐️ The story continues immediately after the last page of the first book. I'm not sure how to talk about the story without giving anything away... like who went to jail, who died, who killed whom, and if the culprit was brought to justice.
It has a lot of unexpected twists and turns... and while going through page after page, I kept on thinking that this would be awesome on the big screen, if not, probably great to be made into a mini-series—like Twin Peaks.
I know this is a duet but...I cant help but wonder if there will be more in the future?? And honestly, I would've wanted to read more about Dario and Bell after that last page... Or probably explore something romantic with Meredith and that cop... Sorry! Cant help it. I'm such a romantic sap! Lol
Looove this! So riveting! Ya'll wouldnt wanna miss this one!
"Love me through the cracks."
What a perfect line. A beautiful idea. A need we all have.
This is not a stand alone, you have to read book one first. Dario and Bell are in the thick of chaos through the whole story. They have to dig their way through so much, all while there's still a crazy person out there. I was totally pulled into their world, more so with this book than the first.
One thing I like about their relationship is the passion- not the dirty kind as much as the way they aren't afraid to fight things out. They're both strong and stubborn, but wanting the same thing at the end of the day. And Bell doesn't want the things he can give her, other than himself.
I loved the conclusion of this duet and the way it all went down. There were surprises along the way, suspense, and a deep love overcoming all.
A Review of Double Down by Alessandra Torre
Dario and Bell continued - 5+++++ Stars
Get ready for the rest of the story. Just like the first book in this series, this one will suck you in from the first page and you will find it VERY hard to put it down until you have inhaled the entire book. This author definitely has a way with writing believable characters that you feel like you know on a deeper level. Now that most of the twists have been followed and we've come to the end, I have to wonder if it is really the end or if there is more that will be coming our way in the near future. There are some things that are left unresolved and I look forward to seeing what else Ms. Torre comes up with. Definitely one to get as soon as you can.
This was a really good romantic suspense. It was superbly written with believable, well rounded characters, sex scenes that were off the charts hot, an exciting suspenseful and interesting storyline that kept me engrossed with moments of drama, conspiracy, betrayal and passion.
I really liked Dario and Bell a lot! Their sexual encounters were hot! Besides the sweet, hot romance between these two, this story has a lot of suspense, action, danger, steamy sex, and intrigue.
Definately a great read...
Whew! What an epic conclusion! This book picks up right where Even Money left off. So, first, if you haven't read Even Money yet, go do that! I have been anxiously awaiting this conclusion to the duet. I was held completely captivated and I didn't want to put the book down. Alessandra did a great job of holding my attention and making me not want to do anything else but read. The twists and turns took me on a ride and I think you'll enjoy it, too. It wasn't predictable and it wasn't easy to see what was lurking around the corner. I liked that it kept me on my toes and my jaw kept dropping. This is the conclusion of our story. What a ride!
Dario and Bell are in the middle of a murder and their lives are at stake. Bell is the one that would feel the wrath of Dario's father in law unless she hides where he cannot find her. So, from Vegas to the swamps in Louisiana, Bell travels with just the clothes on her back to wait for Dario to handle the fallout.
The plotline has all the ups, downs and twists that we love from this author. Totally unexpected, thrilling, and exciting this love story is one you cannot miss if you love romantic suspense. Be prepared ... you will not want to put this book down. I read it in one sitting because I just had to know what happened next.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Double Down is a twisty, smoldering tale that picks up right where Even Money left off, taking us back to Vegas where murder is still fresh, corruption is still rampant, girls are still missing, evil is still prevalent, and long-hidden secrets are about to be unearthed.
The prose is incisive and tight. The characters are resourceful, vulnerable, and tenacious. And the plot told from multiple POVs is a fast-paced, engaging mix of corruption, friendship, family, smoking chemistry, violence, murder, romance, and wickedness.
Overall, Double Down is a tension-filled, shocking conclusion to the All In Duet that has left the door open just slightly for a few more future novels that are action-packed, full of heat, entertaining, and starring some very intriguing characters.
After that ending in Even Money, the first and must read book in this duet, comes Double Down, an action packed story that will leave you breathless!
Oh my... Dario gives us a little bit more of insight about him in this book. He's an extraordinaire man! Specially when he comes out with the big guns!!! God, I loved that part of the story!
Bell is really a strong woman! She can take anything thrown at her and still stand tall!
I loved these characters!
The plot is amazing, staying true to Alessandra Torre writing style in a romantic suspenseful way that you wont forget so soon!
This duet is fantastic and one of my favorite this year!
Alessandra Torre really knows how to capture my full attention with her suspenseful books.
If you thought Even Money was one thrilling ride, then you haven't seen nothing yet!
Dario and Bell have many obstacles they need to get through and that's still to be seen if they can even fix all the bad that revolves around them in order to be able to get their happily ever after.
I can guarantee you that this duet will definitely have you on your toes and make you keep double guessing what's going on. I love the way Alessandra Torre always weaves her suspenseful stories that will keep you completely at the tip of your toes.
You definitely want to pick up this duet
Dario and Bell have to fight hard for themselves in this installment. When crazy people are after you, you need to be one step ahead and that's not always possible. I enjoyed the suspense of Dario trying his best to put an end the evil that is his father in law. I enjoyed that he was doing everything he could to protect Bell from him. Unfortunately, he was the least of the threat. This story had quite a few twists and turns, moments of breath holding and one crazy villian!
The only thing I did not like is that it ended with a threat still a possibility. Years away possibly, but still a lingering threat. Also that that threat did not pay for her original crime.
A good part two to Easy Money.
The danger is real! There are some characters that are really messed up in the head and have the means to make some serious damage. When Bell's life is threaten Dario is goes into action mode, into protection mode. The good thing I really liked is that Bell follows her heart and sticks to Dario's side. In other stories mistakes are made because victims always think they know best and leave themselves open and vulnerable to threats. Here, I was very surprised Bell understood that following Dario's lead and instructions was the safest way plus I also liked that even when she was scared she had faith in him and their relationship. A difficult one but a strong one non the less.
Firstly, let me start by saying.... I flove this author! Everything she writes hits all the spots. Normally its her erotically romantic genre that has my full attention, but this was something a little more edgy to her norm. I would class this as psycological drama, mystery-romance.
This was a great ending to a fabulous duet, and yes you really do need to read part 1 first. An intense and fast paced read, you really had to pay attention to everything going on, any lapse could have you missing the finer details?
This was a strong storyline with intense and well developed characters. I would highly recommend this duet for reading!
Double Down is full of suspense, twists, and a lot of passion. Even Money left us with quite a cliffhanger. I wasn't sure where the author was going after book 1 and am thrilled with what she created. She definitely came up with the suspense but did not skimp on the intense passion either. For awhile we are wondering if Dario and Bell will make it at all. And we also try to figure out if their powerful feelings which fueled Even Money can hold up to the trauma which then ensues.
Double Down really was a page turner. I enjoyed this duet immensely. Alessandra Torre proves what a versatile writer she really is. Can't wait to see what is next from her.
Double Down by Alessandra Torre is the conclusion to the duet All In and once again Torre masterfully weaved and created a story that flowed seamlessly and took you on an emotional journey. With her sensual and beautiful writing, Torre bewitches readers to take a gamble on her characters Dario and Bell as we much anticipated what will befall on them. This duet is definitely one of those reads that will take readers to get lost in the proverbial rabbit hole where romance meets suspense, angst meets hope. So if you are looking for a summer read that had a complicated love story but so much sexiness, suspense and raw emotions then this is book for you.
Double Down is the stunning conclusion of the All In Duet. Torre's trademark hold nothing back books always challenge readers and pushes them to their emotional limits. This is why she is one of the leading voices in Contemporary Romance.
Dario and Bell have to work HARD for their HEA. Psycho FIL....psycho stalker/assassin and a general feeling of death and confusion. It is also
filled with determination to find answers mixed in with a deep unwavering love that follow the couple in this book.
When reading this book make sure you block out an afternoon. You'll need it because you won't be able to put it down until you finish.
No matter what Torre writes, it grabs you from the first page, throws you all over on the emotional roller coaster, and still leaves you satisfied and still wanting more.
Dario and Bell have fought to get where the y are and still continued to trudge forward for their happily ever after. It was a long and troublesome road filled with events bound to destroy them, but they were determined to pull through it all. I feel like this could have been twisted so many other ways and yet it still ended perfectly.
This is a duet that you must put on your TBR for 2018. Read it. Feel it. And fall hopelessly in love with these two amazing characters.
Finally! The conclusion to the All In Duet is everything I could have wanted. The author, Alessandra Torre is an amazing writer. Her stories can completely transport you right into the book’s pages. I’m always so happy when an Alessandra Torre book goes live. There’s no one like her that can write a romantic suspense story. Dario and Bell were incredible! Double Down is a great conclusion to Even Money! I enjoyed Dario and Bell’s intense love story. The writing style was unique to anything I have read before. The multiple POVs were interesting and gave a different perspective from each character and added so much to the storyline. While this is the end to this duet, there is a little part of me left unsettled after reading chapter 29. I'm so nervous! I think readers will find it quite intriguing and want more. I know I do!
Double Down is a trilling, sexy read uniquely written and full of passion and suspense. I highly recommend!
Picking up right where Even Money ends, Double Down will take you on a crazy adventure through the underbelly of Vegas. Everything you wanted to know while reading Even Money is answered.
Dario and Bell have been through more than most couples and their story doesn't end with Even Money, their story continues in Double Down. You're gonna meet new characters, continue to love old characters, and despise the bad guys.
