BUT to read on and on, sharing in the horror and then to just have the story STOP.??? I get it's a story that needs to be shared from the viewpoint of the victim child. But to not learn an outcome! Now I'm a victim of that family too. Perhaps the store should offer the series instead of just one at the lower price. Not knowing the adult end is heart wrenching

the book was written in a very interesting way...and I kept reading in hopes of a good ending for the little boy....however it just got worse. I'm debating getting the other books in the series in hopes they clear up a better ending for the little boy. overall, it was a bit disappointing.

The book was, in theory, supposed to be being told from the point of view of a very young child. However, there were times that phrases or words were used that suggested a more adult comprehension or voice. I would have preferred a more consistent voice to the story as well as more detail from the child.
Her Spirit Guide Angels Were Her Best Friends and Life Coaches :: A mother’s cruelty. A daughter’s survival. A secret that couldn’t be told. :: Based on a True Story (Call Me Tuesday Series Book 1) :: If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer :: A true child abuse story (Pischke Twins Book 1) - Where Children Run

I was disappointed in the ending of the book. Through the eyes of the child was an interesting look, and this was a very very sad, sick book. I kept hoping that there would be some ray of light in the sad little life. I bought vol 2 thinking he would finally get out of the situation. Both ended leaving the reader wondering whatever happened.

This book is a very hard book to read. The things he went through are terrible and it's not an enjoyable read. It also reads as a 5 year old would write it, so this is another reason why it's difficult to finish.

I cannot believe this is a true story. I cried and my heart broke for this little boy. I am wondering if the book was written in a child-like manner or if it had poor grammar and/or spelling. The person narrating was absolutely the worst. I hope the next book has a better narrator. Also, if a book is about a male, it should be narrated by a male and likewise for female.

I would like to say something good about this. Child abuse is horrible, but this story is repetitive and exhausting to read. I kept waiting for a plot to develop. It never did. I do not believe the cause of stopping child abuse will be helped by this story.

I had a hard time putting this book down. This poor child lived through a nightmare and no one would do anything to help him. So many times this happens to children and they are afraid to tell anyone about it. When they try to tell someone they are not believed or made to feel like it was their fault. I would have liked this book better if the writer hashed better English. I felt the writer was from some other country and didn't know how to speak or write proper English. Maybe that is the way it was supposed to be but it made the little boy sound more like a two year old than five or six years old. Could have been written better but I still had a hard time putting it down.

Yes, this book is very compelling look at child abuse through the eyes of the child. I was not disappointed that the book started at age 5, but surprised that it also ended at age 5. I felt cheated at $2.99. I expected more. Makes me hesitant to buy the next volume.

I felt like I had randomly opened the book and began to read and then just stopped. There was really no beginning, ending, and just a one subject middle. Even if this is Volume 1 and there will be additional books, I still expected to be able to relate to the characters and was very disappointed.

I am honored and privileged to have been the first to read Dear Teddy in its entirety. The writing is superb and honest, raw and innocent in its compelling portrayal of a boy's life; his trials and pain. He takes you on a day to day journey into his home. He shows you his loved ones and their brutal betrayal of him. He shares his tears and his heartfelt sorrow. A little boy who has no one to talk to except Mr. Ted, his only friend. I am sure this book will stand out to be the first of its kind. A story that you can feel from a child's perspective; one that most of us cannot completely comprehend and on a subject many of us do not take the time to think about. I cried with him as he told me his story in his own words. You will too and my prayer is that our eyes will be opened to the things we cannot see and we will wrap our arms around all children. May they never hurt like this one. Thank you JD for writing this and sharing it with me.

This story is without a doubt is thought provoking and emotional at the very least. I salute JD Stockholm for telling this story, in it's entirety, it would be easy to shelter the reader from the truth of this life, his life and everything he has experienced but he has found the strength to share this with his audience and I for one am genuinely honoured.

And yet .. I truly thought I wouldn't be able to read this book due to the genuine heart breaking content but as I read, I felt as though I owed it to JD Stockholm to share this emotional story, I felt compelled to continue this journey as as result have ordered the other 3 titles in this series because I WANT to complete this journey with him.

Of course this child should have never been subject to this childhood, he should have been loved unconditionally, in the appropriate way to love and cherish a child and to give everything their heart desires. I agree with comments of others in this regard.

I acknowledge the inner strength and determination that this child and ultimately this man has shown in dealing with this. I salute Mr Ted, for he is everything that this child ever wanted in a friend and a protector. the relationship between the two is amazing. My heart broke for JD Stockholm from the start right to this very moment in this review.

It would be easy to reflect on the adults in this negatively but this will in no way help JD Stockholm and as children, we only know what we experience, for good or for bad we love our parents because that is what children do and I would not disrespect JD Stockholm by projecting my feelings in that way.

This is a detailed and descriptive read and yes, you should prepare yourself before heading this book but if you want to help a survivor, buy it. If you want to honour a child that hurts, buy it. If you want to understand what makes a person who they are, buy it. Ultimately, if you support JD Stockholm, buy it.

Lastly, heartfelt thanks to JD Stockholm for sharing his life, his experiences .... your story inspires me to be a better person, of that, I thank you.

I have to give this book 5 heartbreaking stars. This book was, by far, the hardest book I've ever read. I've hesitated on writing the review because I don't even know what to say about it, other than it devastated me feeling the pain of that little boy. It was written in the voice of a 5 yr old boy, and he pulls you right into his world and makes you feel his despair, his frustration at always "being bad", his fear and anxiety.
No child should ever have to suffer through that, but I applaud Mr Stockholm for being brave enough to overcome it, and to write about it. I can only imagine the bravery and strength it took to put this all down in words and publish it. This book devastated me emotionally, but I am glad I read it, and I'd like to thank the author for being an inspiration to others!

This tale of innocence stolen was difficult to read, but well worth your time.

This tale told from the eyes of a five year old being abused by everyone around him was poignant and heartbreaking. Believing he was "bad" and no one loves him as well as reading a five year old talk about abuse he didn't understand made me want to jump in the book and save him. This is the kind of book that helps remind us that child abuse must always be at the forefront of attention by everyone around them. Children after all are innocent, not "bad", and definitely don't deserve the kind of a use this child endured. This is a book that is worth reading .........just have a box of tissues near.

Children should never have to suffer at the hands of abuse. All I want to do is give him all the hugs and love that he missed as a child and will need in the future. Events like this mold you forever...how can you believe in your own self worth if you've always be made to feel bad.

This first book in the series is a journal from the POV of a 5 year old boy...where his monsters turn out not to be his imagination but real. It's horribly sad the mental and physical abuse he endures.

It's made me re-examine my own childhood. This is not an easy read, but well worth it!!

The author is brave to share his experiences. I have been contemplating writing my experiences too. So many people lack empathy for us when we "become adults." I think that our stories will help society empathize with us a little more if they could see and hear what we went through and what we thought as we lived through the hell of abuse. It was always our fault then, and as adults, it's still our fault because we can't "get over it."

I like how the author chose to write from the child's perspective. This is the foundation that we (abused as children) are built on and it changes us!

I can't finish this book. From page one it's just beating after beating for this poor kid. There is no happy pages and no real plot. The boy says his mom tells him he is evil because he was an unplanned child and he doesn't deserve to be loved. He also says that he loves his parents and would miss them if they had to leave. I can't stand to read about this

My heart broke with each passing paragraph. I find it hard to write a review for this because I'm so emotional right now. The tragedy and abuse that this beautiful boy endured by his family is disgusting and shameful!!! As a mother myself to a baby this age I feel like my heart has been shred. This book is intense and knowing that it really happened is beyond comprehension. I read a lot of the reviews before I started this book and I've seriously got to ask all you haters out there....WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? This book is about the abuse of a small child. Have you no heart? YOU should be ashamed!!! I admire the man that grew from such destruction. The fact that he survived is strong and more than amazing in my eyes. I truly think that everyone should read this book. I think it would open up a lot of shut down eyes to what's going on around them. The abuse of anyone is wrong and to do it to a child is hell worthy!!! This child, who is now a man deserves our respect and love. From me....he already has it!!!

I can say without a doubt that this is the most heart breaking story I have ever read. I can not put into words what I am feeling right now. I wasnt the victim of abuse but I have family members who were. It make me sick when people treat their children this way. All children just want to be loved. I just want to hug you and make everything better. You my friend are a true survivor and it makes me love you all the more.

This five year old child is victimized over and over again. The child endures physical, sexual, and mental abuse by the hands of his mother, father, and a "bad man" who is a regular visitor in the night. There is no help for the child. An occasional caregiver named Nan who seems to me to know the child is abused does nothing to stop it. Child Welfare had removed the mother's first child years before but is not in the picture to protect this child. The child is told he is "bad" and has "demons" and seems to believe it is true for he repeats this to Teddy in the same sentence he describes the despicable acts against him. He does not understand what is happening.
The reader is subjected to this exploitation page after page.

The book does not try to offer solutions.
Instead, it unrelentingly hammers the reader with disgusting and deplorable acts upon a defenseless child.
Nothing in the book is worth the time to read it. I felt used.

I applaud the author! This was not an easy book to read because of what happened to poor sweet Jamie. But not only did he survived, he thrived! By sharing his experiences, it let's others that have had horrific childhoods know that they are not alone!

At first this book looks wierd, but it is very honest by a man who expierienced child abuse himself.

[WARNING]This book is also very emotional… I must admit i cried many times. i also dont reccomend reading this for a long period of time because it will make you feel temporally depressed.…

but anyway great book
5 stars

This book was difficult to read. Not because it wasn't well written but because of the tragic and horrific life this little boy led. Every emotion was stirred inside of me and I felt angry and vengeful. I wanted to kick open the door, wisk that boy out of that environment and cuddle him, rock him, and tell him he was so brave and that goodness will begin now. The point of view in this story only adds to the impact of the story. It was amazingly written. I must read the second book in order to find out if he is ever treated the way he deserves to be. I recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Child abuse is an horrific ordeal. This book really does nothing to help in a socially responsible way. The author only repeatedly writes snippets of sexual abuse seemingly for the mere satisfaction of living in that moment.

It's taken me a while to read this story. This, from someone who normally stays up until all hours to finish a book. I needed time with this one. Time to try and understand how this could happen. Time to get the image of the little boy and his teddy bear out of my head. Time to make myself believe this is a work of fiction, because no one could inflict such cruelty on a child... right? Everyone hears the stories and sees the horrific news reports, but it's not very often when you get to hear the story from a young victim. The writing is simple and pure. It will break your heart and make you want to give your loved ones an extra hug.

There was abuse , but no reason why
No explanation why this child and not the brother
No explanation as to what happened to his older brother
No explanation if the"bad man" was his father or, if there was another adman

The book was disgusting with no explanation except the abuse

This is one of the most well written books I have seen. It deserves the five stars that I'm rating. I went ahead and bought the other 2 volumes but I don't know if I can handle reading the others. I'm going to try, just not right now. I have never had a book hit me this hard. That poor baby. Thank you for writing it. Sometimes we forget people like this exist.

This is such a sad story about an abused boy who believes that the things that happen are because he is bad. It is told with the logic of a five-year-old child, who believes he does nothing right, and deserves all of the awful things that are said and done to him. I wanted to grab this sweet little boy, give him the hugs and kisses he craves so badly, and never let him go!

I absolutely loves how the book was told from the perspective of the child, the ending I dislike but I suppose it was ended that way because of the next books the author would be writing. The book has a lot of impact on a reader and is very descriptive at some points. I would recommend this book to any person who just wants a good read. Reminded me a lot of the book "A child called it" both amazing books.

This book sucked me in from the start, and I quickly found myself right there with this little boy, alone in life except for his dear Mr. Ted. The writing style was superb, and the boy's voice was spot-on for someone his age. My only disappointment was the ending, which seemed abrupt. But other than that, this is an excellent, if disturbing, tale that shines a spotlight onto a dark world that most people don't ever think about on a daily basis. Four stars.

there are some pretty disgusting people in this world. reading some of the comments left .your book ( i have read only the first so far ) was harrowing, heartbreaking and written through the eyes of a child. power to you for being brave enough to tell your story, never let anyone take that away from you, stick their ridiculous comments in the bin where they belong x

I could not put this down once I began to read. Written through the eyes of a 5 year old innocent child... I cried for the young boy who suffered so much pain inflicted by those that were supposed to love and protect him. I cannot imagine inflicting such pain on any of my young sons.. My heart goes out to JD and to the adult man that he has become. I want to thank him for finding the courage to share his story.

A difficult to read account of a young boy's horribly abusive childhood. This seems to be just a small part of the overall story, leaving the reader very curious about what develops later and how eventually he gets far enough away that he can write about it. What he endures is heart-breaking mental, physical, and sexual abuse. One marvels he survives it. Reminiscent of A Child Called It.

The writing was not very interesting, it repeated the same thing over and over. It is sad that children have to live like this child did. I noticed there are more books, so maybe the rest of the books will change my mind about this wrist.

This book is an insight to the life of a 5 year old little boy who wants love but is only abused by those who are supposed to love him. It's sick to know that there are parents like this child has. My heart goes out to him. I've got to read the second book now because I want to know if he survives this horrible abuse. It is worth reading.

Amazing book by an amazing author. You are a true inspiration to others, whom who have suffered child abuse. Refreshing to read a book that is written as if by the child itself, makes it so much powerful and poignant xxx

(This is an edited review.) I didn't know this was a true story when I read it. So I forced myself through this book because I was hoping for at least a satisfying (not necessarily happy) ending, but there is NO ending. I do have compassion for abused children and think it's horrible, but this book just went on and on, repeating the same things over and over and over again. There is no story line, just the poor boy being fed hot sauce, getting sick in his tummy, being beaten and sexually abused. I thought maybe his Nan would be the saving grace of the story, or that SOMETHING would give closure to the book, but the story ends abruptly in the same scenario as the rest of (what I perceive to be) monotonous pages. Now I understand that their is no closure, because this boy's story continues in the author's other books. If you want to learn about child abuse, there are many resources, but be aware that this is only a chapter in the author's life and it does contain repetitive graphic descriptions.

I am sorry I didn't understand what the bell the book was. About a 5 year old boy being raped by his Dad and another man. About a mother who was always mean to him. Please tell me why this was like this like I said I just don't understand this book at all.
