Claire and her friends were granted protection from the founder as long as they do not cause any more trouble. So, of course the inevitable happens and trouble finds them. Shane's dad is completely set on his vendetta against the vampires. He doesn't care who he has to sacrifice to achieve his goal, even his own son, Shane. With Shane mixed up in the mess with his dad, Micheal's inability to leave the house and Eve's general death wish, its up to Claire to save the day yet again. However, this time shes in danger of losing something very near and dear to her heart.

This book is extremely intense, and the stakes are even higher than the last one. Once it got started, it never really stopped. The danger was very real in the last book, and involved all four of them equally. However, this time around it really hits home so much harder even though the biggest threat is only to one of them. It's funny how some things really seem to sink in more than others, even if the overall danger is less.

The ending of this book surprised me. It didn't really follow Caine's history of ending every book on a major cliffhanger. Well, I guess the ending could be considered a cliffhanger, but considering Claire's character and the nature of the vampires in Morganville, it really isn't a surprise. I had actually assumed the ending of this book was a point that was inevitable in the series anyway. However, since I just said this book really doesn't have a cliffhanger, I bet the next book has one heck of a doozy ending.

I enjoyed this book, and I really like the direction the series is taking. There definitely isn't a slow progression of events. There is a lot going on at once, and the action just keeps coming. This book had plenty of shocking events, and really kept me guessing. I'm finding the more I read, the more I love Claire's character and her inner strength. She really is admirable, and of course the rest of the characters are pretty great too. I cannot wait to read more of their story in the next book.

Also reviewed on my blog, the Vintage Bookworm as a part of my 'Old Review' feature. ([...])

Like I said in my review for Glass House, as soon as I finished the first book I leaped across my room to grab the second installment, The Dead Girls' Dance, and I immediately started to read it. As soon as my eyes hit the first sentence of the book I was sucked back into Morganville to see everything that was going on. Rachel Caine's writing makes me feel as though I'm really in the book with the characters. Every feeling that Claire has, I experience.
The only thing I don't like about it is that Claire jumps into a new person too quick. I mean, I'm glad she's more confident now and more of a new person, because frankly at first she really bugged me. But still, it's a bit too fast. I still love her nonetheless though. As I do all the main characters, especially Eve.
Nothing really changed about my loathing of Monica Morrell. Oh how I want to smack her! I also have a very high loathing for Shane's father now and all of his little back-ups.
I really can't figure out which installment I like better right now, Glass Houses or The Dead Girls' Dance. I read through The Dead Girls' Dance just as fast as I did withGlass Houses, which I'm very happy about.
But just as I did with The Dead Girls' Dance, I ran to Midnight Alley after finishing. And boy does Rachel Caine know how to leave a cliff hanger. It isn't really a cliff hanger, just a happy ending to a horrible day, that you just know will be destroyed again the next day. So that drives me as crazy as a cliff hanger does.
Sometimes while reading these books, I feel as though some of the characters are thrown in just to fill some space and make the story longer. But by the end of the book they have resolved themselves, so that's good. But thinking about it really bothers me.
But on a good note, and a not so good note, a lot of secrets and choices have been revealed now in the second installment to the Morganville Vampires series, so that means a lot more stuff is heading our way in Morganville.
Overall, this was a great read, as was the first installment. I highly recommend this series; it's now officially in my top favorite series and recommendations.

When I finished Glass Houses, I immediately scooped up The Dead Girls' Dance and retreated back into Morganville. Rachel Caine has this was of seamlessly tying together each of her novels that makes it feel as if it's all one giant book. Each one begins where the other ends, which is great, because that eliminates the needless recaps most other books seem to have.

Claire is still that smart girl that goes around trying-- and most of the time succeeding-- to save everyone she cares about. The entire novel she maintains a mixture of courage and fear, which really made it easy for me to sympathize with her. She gets closer to her roommates Eve and Michael, too, and the three of them are working together to keep each other alive. I also loved where Claire and Shane were heading in this novel. They really are perfect for each other.

Which brings me to Shane. This is really his novel. His psychotic dad comes into the picture, hell-bent on killing every vampire in Morganville because of what happened to Shane's mother. The whole ordeal gives us some more insight into Shane's past, and also who he is as a person. His loyalties are also tested, when he's forced to choose between his abusive, insane father, or saving his friends. Shane is most definitely my favorite character out of them all. He seems to be the most complex.... And the fact that he's completely hot and a total badass doesn't hurt either.

New characters are introduced, like Shane's father and the Vamp Hunting Biker Gang o' Doom. And then you have even more creeps like Eve's brother Jason, who is equally as insane as Vigilante Vamp Dad, except in a much weirder, he's-gonna-rape-me-omg way. Needless to say, I didn't like Jason. Then there are total sweetheart like Sam Glass, who is Michael's grandfather and also a vampire. I really want to see more of Sam.

And while we're on the subject of Michael... LOVED him. The whole story around him, and his sun-rise disappearing act was so unique and interesting. It definitely added to the plot and even saved their butts at one point. Michael and Eve are quite possibly the cutest thing in the world. Another favorite aspect of this story.

Rachel Caine is easily my favorite author. I find that her novels get less recognition than they deserve. Every single page of The Dead Girls' Dance had action and mystery, and since it's such a small novel, I finished it in about 2 hours flat. The Morganville Vampires series is definitely one of my favorites and one of the first vampire books I recommend to anyone wanting a fresh, unique, and all-round awesome take on vampires.

Do I recommend this book: YES

Despite having gained the Founder of Morganville's unofficial protection for herself and her friends, Claire Danvers know that the danger will never pass because the Founder's protection came with a price--never leaving the borders of Morganville. And--surprise, surprise--danger has a way of seeking out the residents of the Glass House. It starts with the vampire hating motorcycle gang and rapidly progresses downhill from there. Time is running out and the stakes are even higher now that multiple lives are on the line--including one boy who Claire has realized she can't live without. Claire may now be well versed in vampire lore, but nothing can prepare her for the unlikeliest human-vampire alliances--and their retributions.

Caine does not disappoint with this second installment in the Morganville Vampires series. The novelty of the mystery of Morganville has not quite worn off yet, but even better, new outside threats present themselves to make things more interesting. Caine proves herself a talented writer through the way everything in the story connects one way or another. Discovering all these surprising connections is part of what makes reading the story so much fun. I've already established that the exciting plot has only gotten better in the continuation of the Morganville Vampires series, and I'm glad to say that this was mirrored by character development as well. In The Dead Girls' Dance, the reader learns much more about each of the main characters, particularly their pasts. This as well as several developing romances made the characters more likable and realistic. Though there isn't a major cliffhanger at the end of the novel as there was in its prequel Glass Houses, I still can't wait to read the rest of the Morganville Vampires series.

The Morganville Vampires series will be enjoyed by fans of Firespell by Chloe Neill, the City of Bones trilogy by Cassandra Clare, and Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

The second book in the Morganville Vampires series picks up almost immediately where the first book left off (and that's a very good thing, as the first closed on a major cliffhanger!). The four roommates find themselves at the mercy of Shane's crazed vampire-hunting father and his gang, and the focus is on Michael, whom Shane's dad has rightly determined isn't alive. But the conclusion is actually wrong, in that Michael is a ghost, not a vampire, and before the other three roomies can intervene, Shane's dad does the unthinkable and offs Michael. From that grim beginning, The Dead Girls' Dance takes off with more drama and danger in the town of Morganville.

There are lots of dangerous situations in Book Two, and a major race against time to save Shane, wrongly accused of killing a vampire and sentenced to death. The reappearance of Amelie gives another dimension to the vampires in that while she's not exactly warm, she's at least a little accessible and helpful. The best addition is Sam, a solitary vampire with ties to Michael; his appearance gives hope that possibly the vampires and the humans of Morganville may eventually be able to live together with a little more trust.

I'm not really sure why this novel is titled The Dead Girls' Dance in that the actual dance is a very, very small portion of the book, and not all that central to the action. That aside, it would be nice to see a book where Claire doesn't spend so much time getting beaten up in some way, and with maybe a bit of personality redemption for Monica. I love how Eve and Claire take charge of the situation and do all they can for their roomie, even putting themselves in grave danger. These novels are very action packed and often a situation will seem to have no positive resolution, keeping me on the edge of my seat and racing through the pages. I like the love stories going on in the background as well, but would hate to see everyone tied up in relationships too quickly.

Book Two is a wild ride that kept me up past my bedtime to finish. I'm excited that I have the next two books in the series here to get to this summer. This is a good, intriguing vampire series that will keep you entertained fully.

This is the second book in the Morganville Vampires series. For some reason I just cannot get into this series. The story is okay, but the characters aren't all that engaging. I didn't finish this book thinking "Oh, I just can't wait for what happens next!".

This book starts out exactly where the last book left off, which is good considering the last book left off with a knife plunging toward Michael's heart. In this book Shane's father, a crazy vampire hunter, shows up and starts creating trouble for the residents of Glass House. It's up to Claire to try and figure out how to fix everything, especially when Shane gets imprisoned for a murder he didn't commit.

I will start out with the good stuff in this book. The Founder of Morganville, Amelie, is a great character; in fact I think she is the only interesting character in this book. She is intriguing and must have a very interesting past indeed. I also liked the addition of Sam the newest vampire in Morganville; although he wasn't in the story much. Okay, well that was the good stuff. I think the other characters are very stereotypical. The story is okay, but not all that engaging. The writing style is fine but nothing special.

I thought the title and synopsis of the book were both a bit misleading. The Dead Girl's Dance doesn't happen until almost the end of the book and the main characters have nothing to do with the preparation of it. The Dance just happens to be a place where some bad stuff happens. I also thought it was a bit strange that Claire rarely goes to class; I mean I understand that she is in danger, but Claire's actual classwork is really pushed into the background and dealt with as an afterthought...it's kind of weird since the whole reason she stayed in Morganville initially was to go to school. I also thought that Claire's parents were dealt with in a clumsy way; it was like Caine didn't really know what to do with them so she made them magically forget and left it at that.

Overall, this book was okay. I just didn't really get into it all that much. Everything about it remains average. The nice thing was that this book wrapped up the plot somewhat instead of leaving it wide open like the last book. I won't be reading anymore of this series. I just am not enjoying it; there is not enough creativity and the characters are not engaging enough.

THE DEAD GIRLS DANCE {Morganville Vampires Book 2}

Paranormal YA

Rating: 5 Enchantments

Claire is a brilliant college student stuck in Morganville. With possibly no way out...ever. Living with Shane, Michael and new best friend Eve, she is trying to attend college and live a halfway normal life. With vampires running the town, she gets driven to school and tries to lay low at night. Claire is a personable girl with a catty wit that will make you laugh out loud.

In book two of the series, Claire and her friends are all involved with new problems. Branching out from where GLASS HOUSES ended, Shane's dad is in for a visit after Shane called him. His dad is after blood, and it's not the human kind. With a mad man on the loose and killing vampires, everyone is pointing fingers at Claire, Michael, Eve and Shane. Oliver, the vampire manager of Common Grounds, is plotting revenge and is getting help from an unlikely source. Eve also starts a new job at a coffee shop on Claire's college campus. While indulging in coffee and talking to Eve, a college guy named Ian invites the girls to EEK frat houses' Dead Girls Dance. Michael, still not able to leave the house, makes a choice that will not be easily forgotten and will shock all of his friends in the house. When Shane gets into some trouble, because of dear ole dad, Claire and Eve decide to go to the frat party, with a seat-gripping chain of events all the way to the end.

THE DEAD GIRLS DANCE gripped me from page one, just as much, if not more, than the first book in the series. Ms. Caine knows how to get readers interested and keep them hanging on. From the antics of the spoiled-brat Monica to the ending at the frat party, this book is non-stop fun. It flows smoothly and is very hard to predict what's going to happen next. All the characters are well-developed; you can feel their emotions of having to live in this town that's overrun by vampires. THE DEAD GIRLS DANCE is one of the best vampire stories that I have read so far.

Ms. Caine is the author of another series called `The Weather Warden' and some other stand-alone titles. She continues to write books for the `Morganville Vampire' series. Her website, [...] has loads of information on her and her books. She also has a myspace page that includes some wallpaper from the books and a mailing list you can sign up for with the latest information on contests and new releases.

In the first Morganville Vampires book, we were constantly reminded that Claire is super-smart, a 16-year-old girl who graduated high school early and could have gotten into any Ivy League college of her choice, but is stuck at TPU because her parents want her to go to a small-town school until she's older. Book 2 finds us in Morganville, watching the Glass House residents (Claire, Eve, Shane, and Michael) caught between two sides in a war--Shane's dad and biker gang (a group of bloodthirsty vampire hungers)and the Morganville vampires. All the old villains are here: Oliver, Monica, and Brandon. Amidst all the action and tension, what gave me a splitting headache was Claire herself. This girl is on a suicide mission in this book. She shows an amazing lack of forethought, planning, and good judgment. Her housemates and other bystanders are frequently called in to save her from herself. At some point, it gets old. I'm wondering if the Glass Housemates should sacrifice her on the altar of stupidity in the next book and create a new, more mature lead character. However, what keeps this series going is the action, and Rachel Claire has given us a healthy helping of it in The Dead Girls' Dance. We even get to see a little more of Sam, a vampire I could read an entire series about. I hope to see him in the third book.

This book picks up exactly where the first left off. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's good if you've read the first book recently, because it means no waiting! But if it's been over two years (like with me), it leaves you a bit disoriented until you can get up to speed again. I actually wonder if these first two books were actually just one that the author was forced to split in two.

But, once you do get up to speed again, this is a decent little book. Claire and her roommates really only want one thing -- to be left in peace. But Shane's father has other ideas, and once the vampires find out his plans, someone has to pay. I like the group of roommates, though Claire does tend to get on my nerves a bit. She makes some really stupid decisions. I do have to give her a little benefit of the doubt. Just because you're smart doesn't necessarily mean you have common sense. (I might just know this from experience.)

Overall, I think this is a good series. I'm interested in seeing where it is going. Maybe this time I won't wait two years to read the next one.

I avidly anticipated this book after devouring Glass Houses, the first book in the Morganville Vampires series centering around a town that is run by the undead. While it didn't hook me in as much as the first one had, it is still a thrilling read.

Buffy's Sunnydale definitely has a run for its money when it comes to Morganville--the vampires are much more threatening, devious, and collected, plus there isn't even a Buffy around to protect the humans from being dinner. (Unless a vengeful pack of biker guys counts, that is.) The stakes (no pun intended) are raised higher in this book, Claire and her friends stuck dealing with how to get rid of the said biker guys without getting burned by the vamps--which, for some, can be interpreted quite literally. The story felt stretched out a little bit, but the emotional journey the characters go through makes it well worth reading. My biggest complaint would have to be Monica's character, because even though she's supposed to be Claire's college nemesis, there were a few times where it would have felt more natural to have her display some shades of gray. The series is still thoroughly addicting, this book beginning right where the first left off without any confusion and ending with another cliffhanger that, while not as heart-stopping as the first, still makes you impatient for the next one to see what will happen next.

I was immensely looking forward to reading this book, and I very much enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it. Compared to the first book, it wasn’t as exciting. There was a lot of action and mystery in the first book, and for me it felt as though The Dead Girls Dance focused only on the romance between Claire and Shane, and not much else happened. I’m not all for the I’ll-give-up-my-life-for-you-even-though-I’ve-only-known-you-a-little-over-two-weeks romance. Sorry. That sort of romance is not believable and just not my thing. This book definitely also lacked that wow factor that got me so hooked on the first book. I already have books three and four lined up, but if the pace doesn’t pick up soon, I probably won’t waste my time on the rest of this series, which would be disappointing for me because I REALLY LOVED Glass Houses.

This is the second book in the Morganville Vampire series. I really liked this book much better than the previous book (Glass Houses). This book didn't have a lot of wasted space and some kind of action is constantly taking place. This worked very well for this book and it keeps you reading!

I don't really want to discuss what happens in the book because it would be extremely hard to do without containing a ton of spoilers. I started reading this book last night and just flew through it.

You really start to connect with the main characters: Claire, Eve, Shane, and Michael--and you can really start to see them connect with each other. For a YA series, this is one of the better ones that I've read- granted I wasn't extremely crazy about the first book.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. It was very entertaining and I couldn't wait to see what happened from chapter-to-chapter. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series soon.

Book 2 of Morganville Vampires series picks up pretty much right where GLASS HOUSES leaves off. The core characters return and there are more secondary characters introduced, some of whom appear as though they'll be recurring. The plot moves forward as Claire discovers more about Morganville and the politics involved with her learning the town's secrets.

Sadly, none of the core characters "excite" me. I don't dislike them, but I don't love any of them either. (There is a secondary character I love, and am hoping will become more prevalent as the series evolves.)

Overall, a good continuation to the series. I wish we as the reader would get some backstory as to how Morganville came to be the town it is and why. How they go about keeping things quiet and so forth, but hopefully that'll come as the series moves forward.

Picking right up where its cliffhanger predecessor left off, the second book in the Morganville Vampires sequence is a thrill-ride from beginning to end. Held captive in their own, "haunted" house, college girls in vampire-dominated town-from-hell Claire and Eve fight to protect themselves from their friend Shane's terrifying father. But even when they gain freedom, it turns out to be only temporary, as a vampire turns up dead and Shane is held responsible. The rest of the novel comes fast and furious as the crew of comrades battle both to save Shane and retain their few vampiric allies - and stay alive in the process

Rachel Caine's novels are everything good young-adult fiction should be - fast-paced, well-developed, with great setting-description and a dash of romance. Not too angsty, with plot behind the angst, The Morgantown Vampires series is intricate and well-written enough to keep the attention of all paranormal readers.

This is the second book in Rachel Caine's "Morganville Vampires" series. The first, was "Glass Houses" which was introduced last October. While these books can stand alone, I'd suggest reading "Glass Houses" first so you get an idea of how the town is set up.

"Dead Girls Dance" takes up where "Glass Houses" left off with the usual suspect threats and a host of new ones: Shane's father, Frank Collins, is in town with a whole gang of bikers and they're sworn to kill as many of the vampires that run Morganville as possible, Eve Rosser's brother Jason is back from prison and swearing revenge on her for turning him in, one young college girl is already missing and since the crime's been reported--Jason's the prime suspect.

"Dead Girls Dance" shows a lot more polish in the writing than "Glass Houses." Caine's writing is more suspenseful and she's planted some pretty sharp 'hooks' in making "Dead Girls" difficult to put down.

We're also beginning to see more character development in the entire cast--both human and vamp. While Claire is only 16, she is learning how to live on her own and also to care for her roommates, who have become a family unit in a few short weeks. She's not brave, but she does her best to take care of her people at grave risk to herself. Shane is facing the fact that his mission on returning to town to scout out a good attack spot for his father may not be the right one. And even Monica may have some needed maturity thrust on her.

Plus, we are seeing a human side to the vamps. As Claire thinks of it, they're ranging from 'bad' to 'downright evil.' We are also seeing more of the workings of the vamp portion of the city. Caine provides more of an explanation of how the vamps can move about in daylight and the 'caste system' of the town.

These novels make a strong case for the values of friendship and loyalty While our world isn't exactly like Morganville, you stick by your friends in tough situations because they may be the only people close by that can help.

This is the second entry into the Morganville Vampires series and was an entertaining book. In many ways, there were improvements in the story and characterizations. But, I can't help but feel as if, overall, the first was a better and more well-rounded book (minus the cliff-hanger ending of course). I don't always understand Claire's reasons for doing things and how she goes about them are completely dumb. I can get over that because even though she has a high IQ, she's still only sixteen. Not to mention, many geniuses don't have common sense, or much of it at the very least. However, nitpicking aside, I look forward to reading future books in the series.

3.75 stars

Note: The title and description are misleading; the fraternity or dance don't have much to do with the whole basic plot. In fact, I don't really get the title at all. They should have saved that for a future book and thought out a new one.

The Dead Girls Dance picks up right where Glass Houses finished. The second book in the Morganville Vampires sequence is an amazing thrill ride from the first word to the last.

Held captive in their home by Shane's terrifying father Claire and Eve fight to protect themselves. Yet just when they gain their freedom, their relief is only temporary, as a vampire turns up dead and Shane is held responsible.

Claire has become a lot stronger in this book and like where her character is going. She isn't so naïve, although she still makes silly mistakes like any teenager does.

The Dead Girls' Dance is a gripping novel laced with humour, action, romance and scary vampires. This was a great book and I truly hope that the series continues the same.

There is no place like Morganville! Rachel Caine keeps us entertained with Dead Girls' Dance, the second book in the Morganville Series. At the end of The Glass House Frank Collins, Shane's dad, came to Morganville to get rid of the vampires. In Dead Girls' Dance he kills a vampire and many humans. Since Morganville can't find Frank they will hold Shane responsible. Frank doesn't sit around waiting for his son to pay for his sins instead he kidnaps the Mayors daughter for leverage. Claire tries to find a way to save Shane, but she only manages to get deeper involved with Morganville's head vampires. Michael decides he can no longer live trapped in The Glass House and Eve is dealing with her new job at the collage. The book was great and a really fast read. If you haven't read this series I suggest you start.

I finished this last night, and thank the authors that Kellyn brought in the third one to school today. I might have gone crazier if she hadn't - Rachel Caine left her book at a cliff hanger. Again. x_x

I loved this book much more than I loved the first one. Glass House had to take the time to establish character relationships and such - as is right for a first book in the series, despite how short they are - while this book jumped right into the plot line and fleshed out the characters even more. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down!

The only thing that is annoying me about Rachel Caine is that she leaves a cliff hanger at the end of every novel. At least summarize it up a bit, please!

Hold on to your fish-net stockings because the action in THE DEAD GIRLS' DANCE starts on the first page and never lets up. The story begins exactly where the first book in the Morganville Vampire series, Glass Houses: The Morganville Vampires, Book I (The Morganville Vampires), left off. Claire, Eve, and Shane are in shock over what Shane's father and his buddies have done to Michael.

Shane's father has returned to Morganville with one thing in mind: He wants to kill as many vampires as he can, even if he gets killed in the process. After the trauma Shane's family went through with the loss of his sister, and, subsequently, his mother, Shane and his father have cooked up a plan for revenge. Shane's phone call to his father sets the plan in motion and once his father arrives, Shane realizes what a mistake he's made.

The protection Claire, Eve, Shane, and Michael have under the Founder is in jeopardy now that Shane's dad is causing problems. If they are thought to be involved in any kind of plan to kill the vampires, their protection will be removed and it will be open season on the occupants of the Glass House -- and believe me, there are plenty of vampires and people in Morganville who want to see them dead. When one of the most powerful vampires in town turns up dead, Shane is accused of the crime and sentenced to death, and it is up to Claire and Eve to find a way to save him.

Readers will enjoy it when Claire's nemesis, Monica, gets a little of what's coming to her when the tables are turned and she is put in the victim role. Also be looking for relationships to blossom over the course of THE DEAD GIRLS' DANCE, both in love and friendship. We also meet a new, likeable character named Sam. He offers aid to Claire and Eve when they are in desperate need of help.

The only drawback with this book is that it isn't a stand-alone story. In order to understand the reasoning behind much of the action it would be better to read the first book in the series, Glass Houses: The Morganville Vampires, Book I (The Morganville Vampires). However, in my opinion, this isn't a major drawback at all since it leads you to another great book by Rachel Caine. THE DEAD GIRLS' DANCE is one of the best books I've read, and the shocking ending will leave you panting and begging for the next installment (Midnight Alley: The Morganville Vampires, Book III (The Morganville Vampires).

This book picks up basically right when the first one stopped. That is a good thing. Overall it isn’t a bad book but my feelings are just so-so with it. The story moved along at an okay pace. It is a short, quick read. I do like the characters. I like that Claire is becoming someone you don’t want to mess with. She is learning to stand up to people.

I just recently finished this book and I definitely enjoyed it a lot more then Glass Houses. I sped through GH and didn't take it all in and on a second reading I was kind of disappointed (I would rate it 3 stars). But Dead Girls' Dance is a LOT better.

The story isn't as crazy this time around, all the introduction of the characters and the town is over and done with so you can now concentrate on the story itself which is turning out to be interesting.

I felt Glass Houses was a bit rushed, like Rachel tried to fit in too much stuff into the book. This one is much more even. The story is non-stop as it usually is in all of Rachel's book, but it doesn't feel rushed or overdone.

This book is short, but it squeezes a lot in - deaths, vampires, a crazy party and even a bit of romance. I'm glad Claire and Shane got together even though he still thinks Claire is a little bit too young for him.

When I finished Glass Houses I wasn't so enthused to read Dead Girls' Dance as I didn't enjoy the 1st book but I'm glad I read it now as it's a LOT better.

This book ain't no Weather Warden book (Rachel's other series, one of the best book series ever written), but it's still loads of good fun and a great quick read. I'm looking forward to the 3rd book, released in October. 4 stars.

This second volume in the Morganville series packed just as much intense action as the first. Now there is more to worry about than just the vampires in the town. Claire, in what's become her usual way, is rushing around trying to save the day for everyone. Michael is struggling with what he is and how much that prevents him from helping. Eve falls apart a bit and then goes to extremes. We do see more of Oliver, and Amelie and we meet a new and very important vampire who I predict will be a major part of the series from here on in. As with the first book, they narrowly escape with their lives and just when you think it's all over, we get a new dilemma at the end of the book and leave with a cliffhanger. Rest easy though readers, the cliffhanger in this book was not nearly as dramatic as the one at the end of Glass Houses. Definitely a series I will continue to read, and if you like vampire books, you should too!

Ahh, The Dead Girls Dance, (second Morganville book), was so good! I just read it in one day and I can honestly say that I love this series. I already bought all of the other available books because I have no doubt I will want to read them all. This story was even more intense than Glass Houses. It was full of emotions throughout the whole book. I'm so glad I have found another vampire series that I really enjoy because after reading Vampire Academy, I was afraid I wouldn't find anything that was remotely close to being as good, but now I think that Morganville is pretty darn close, so far anyways. Of course, those are just my opinions. This series gets my recommendations! (:

The second book in the Morganville series starts just moments after the first left off, Shanes dad and his bike gang have just broken in. The vampires punish Shane in an attempt to curb his fathers actions. Meanwhile Claire is becoming more forceful (thank god) and more useful to the vamps. This book has picked up the pace a little more and is still as dark as the first, but there are some flickers of light in the midst. The books and characters are starting to grow on me, which is always the sign of a good storyteller

Like Glass Houses, the first book in the series, this book was a fun read. I loved the characters, the plot, action, and everything else about this book. It was definitely a quick read with twists and turns along the way. It picks up right where Glass Houses left off. So many things happen in this book. Shane is almost killed, and Michael makes a choice that there is no going back from. Claire makes a HUGE decision at the end that I think she might end up regretting. I cannot wait to read the next book! I need to know what happens.

More adventures in the creepy town of Morganville. Just as good as the first one, it makes you eager to read more of the series. As Claire and company get drawn deeper into the danger of living in Morganville, they're up for another dangerous adventure. But when Claire manages to anger the most powerful vampires in town, can any of them survive? Definitely a great source of entertainment, and a very fun read.

THE DEAD GIRLS' DANCE is book two of Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire young adult series. Book one left off with a major cliff hanger, which had me scrambling to find book two. As with the first audio book, Cynthia Holloway was the narrator for this story. She's a favorite of mine, but even she couldn't jazz up the beginning of this one.

It wasn't until a little over midway through when Shane was captured by the vampires did things become exciting for me. He's sentenced for a crime Shane's father committed. And Shane wasn't exactly guilt-free. He did after all call his father, but what came out was the reason Shane came back to Morganville.

I really enjoy the idea behind the series. Morganville is home to vampires. Humans also live their but within the rules set by the predators. They have their own power struggle between families. And although I didn't see the intensity in this book, lots of changes occur, urging me to get a copy of book three.

This is the type of series that needs to be read in order. Book two does leave off with a cliff hanger, but it's not as severe as book one.

I wish there was some way to give this installment 6 stars. It is fantastic! It's nonstop action and we're starting to see some romance building as well. The twists and turns come a mile a minute and they are all things you don't really see coming. I thing this story sheds a lot of light on Shane and Michael's characters. We learn more of there histories and pasts. What a ride! I can't wait to start book 3.

This book picks up right where the first one ended and begins with excitement! I like that Caine introduces her characters and I don't need to write out who everyone is to keep them straight. This is another quick, easy YA book and is something to fill the time. I will be continuing with the series.

This book begins moments after Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires, Book 1) ends. Shane's father along with his vampire slaying motorcycle gang arrives in Morganville, Texas. Woo who...it's not the cavalry to the rescue...NOT. He is not here to save the day; he is here to destroy the fragile balance that Claire and her roommates have established with the vampires of Morganville. The book is a quick, easy read. I am now going to read the next book, Midnight Alley (Morganville Vampires, Book 3).

It's a tad bit weird, slightly interesting, but crazy confusing. The fast romance is sickening and the main character is a whiny crybaby. Not much of a mystery or suspense novel like I thought it would be, packed with action and a main character who grows stronger throughout the trials. This was simply a waste of time.

The whole story was just as entertaining and heart racing as the first one. I don't know if it was better, but it was definitely not worse, though either way it would still be excellent. There were so many surprising events that happened in the story and it was really unpredictable, just how a great book should be. This book had a lot of action-the vampire vs. human kind- with just the right balance of dramatic moments, which made this book the perfect blend of writing.

The second installiment for The Morganville Vampires book was great. You get the inside story on Shane's family and a glimpse in Michael's family history as well. I can't wait for the third. Hopefully it will focus on Amelie's plans for Claire and Michael adapting to being a vampire.

I read the second installment of the Morganville Vampires book, I think that this young adult/adult vampire story is enjoyable. I think that Rachel Caine has a nice handle on character development and the ability to bring the characters alive in the two books. Although the material is not as "adult" as some other authors the material is good and the story and characters interesting and believable.
