Heartless is a love story that errupts from an unlikely meeting between two people. A retired before his time baseball player and a young woman that is building her makeup business meet when she tries to return a journal she found on his property one day when she sought out shelter from the rain. Through trials and tribulations these two get their happily ever after. I was so surprised by this story that after borrowing it through Kindle Unlimited, I immediately purchased the book. Then I read the second story. Typical player man and unassuming female meet. However the twist on this story is that the male character is right away given a shock when a past one night stand shows up at his door with his four month old daughter he wasn't even aware he had. In comes the woman, his next door neighbor. While he works to change his life from being a professional gambler and take care of his daughter, she is trying to adapt to a 'normal' life from the commune she grew up in. Together they help each other and in the end have their happily ever after. Even with a few grammatical errors, the stories are wonderful. I'm anxious to read more of Winter's books.

Brooding hero. Do you love brooding men? I sure do and my god, Ace is the epitome of a tortured and brooding hero. Then there was the way I connected with both Aidy and Ace. It’s one of those things that can’t be explained, except I got this feeling in my heart, this feeling where I couldn’t stop thinking about the book and I was desperately vested. I honestly think it’s got to be the author’s writing style and her ability to bring characters and feelings to life beyond words on the page.

So let's get back to that delicious brooding hero...Ace is definitley a bit grumpy, but we all knew (hoped) he had a heart of gold underneath his massively manly beardy sexy reserved exterior. He’d just been so terribly hurt and he was still licking his wounds. I have to say, I loved that he wasn’t a manwhore. Say what? I know, I know, I love me a manwhore. But here, his reluctance to have anything to do with any women just showed me how broken he was over both his career and his heart. SWOON.

Then there's the heroine. Sigh. Aidy was simply awesome. I wanted to be her, I wanted to be her best friend. I loved her. She was spunky without being obnoxious. She was kind, yet knew how to stand up for herself. She was also successful and I loved seeing her business take off in NYC.

Aidy and Ace together had chemistry right from the start. I can admit I hate coincidences almost as much as I hate love triangles (there was no love triangle TG!). However, I had to squeeze my eyes shut and ignore that part. Because, the attraction was there from the beginning and I loved how both of them didn’t recognize it right away, and almost had to mull it over. But once they were curious if the attraction was real, they both were pretty open to spending time together. Then the real love affair started and I could not put my kindle down. Seriously, could. not.

I was so wrapped up in the romance that I kind of forgot about the journal. What a great secondary storyline. It was like a Christmas gift that I wasn’t expecting and it was glorious.

The ending was so fantastic. I felt satisfied, I felt the love. I am sad to say goodbye to Aidy and Ace, but I know I can still catch up on them as we read about the rest of the Amato clan.

Rec this? YES! If you love New Adult romances that are written well, ones with brooding heroes... this is an absolute must must must for your TBR.

Happy reading!

Aidy and Ace are memorable characters, those who as soon as you start knowing them you know they'll stay with you forever. Aidy is a free spirit; a somehow curious girl who verges on the limits of being obsessively nosy.

Aidy falls in love with love as described in a journal she finds outside a house, until she meets the house's owner. Is it possible for the connection she feels with the journal's writer to exceed fantasy and become a reality when she and Ace cross paths?

Ace is a moody man who need his peace and isolation. Until he meets Aidy. He doesn't know how to explain it, but something about her draws him to her, so much so, that he cannot stop thinking about her.

But destiny is not that simple. After several casual meetings Aidy just wants to stay away from Ace; but he wants to spend more time with her.
After a wonderful night together, would Aidy be able to forget about the journal and not ask herself if Ace is really the owner of it? Would Ace be able to leave his past behind to focus on his present with Aidy, could he overcome the damage he suffered?

From the very first moment I was hooked! Ace and Aidy are perfect for each other. A free spirit and a broken spirit can truly love if the let themselves feel it. It's one of the best romance storied I've read. Really lovable characters. Heartless is one of those books that you want to read again countless times.

This book was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I read a lot of the reviews and the only ones that were negative were ones that said it didn't wrap up the storyline enough. I think it was perfect. The characters were lovable and the heat between Ace and Aidy was just right! I'm off to read the next book now. I just know it will be just as wonderful as this was. Thanks for the fact that this was free! Now I can afford to buy more books from this author. She is truly amazing!

Heartless-Winter Renshaw- OMG hooked right from the start. Aidy finds a journal in the rain she can't stop reading it. She wants to meet the man who wrote those words. Ace is a retired pro-baseball player hiding from the world the past year. When they continue to run into each other random places both are leery of the other. I love that Aidy is a strong brave woman she waits for nothing making her life her own. So Amazing. Vegas Baby is included with this one so that's my next read ?

The found journal was an interesting plot device. However, it really didn't matter in the long run.

This was a predictable story about a reclusive, brooding ex-athlete who is jolted from his isolation by a few "fateful" run-ins with a young woman who brings him out of his self-imposed seclusion.

I am definitely in the minority opinion. But, it is what I think. Therefore, I don't recommend this book as being worth your time.

Heartless was intriguing, funny, sexy, and everything in between. Ace and Aidy's story captivates you from first page. Ace was so passionate and sensitive in a way you don't always see in a guy character and there's something so appealing about that. In typical Renshaw fashion, there's a twist that knocks you to your knees. Winter Renshaw never fails to blow me away with her stories. I reviewed an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Ms. Renshaw, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! I absolutely loved everything about this story. I was hooked from the very beginning and just let the story devour me. I'm a huge fan of character development and you never disappoint, your characters always have depth and layers. Loved Ace and Aidy, can't wait for whatever you do next!
