Talk about ridiculous. Wth is everyone else reading?! All the extreme drama. The internal dialogue is agonizing. The use of “this man” is so over the top. Give me a break. This is poorly written romance.

I absolutely loved this book until I didn’t! Hope is such a wonderful character. How she fought for Evan was beautiful. Evan...how can u not fall in love with that boy. Kale- I loved him til I didn’t. How do you get such a beautiful heart breaking story to have the big conflict and resolve it like nothing major happened?? I understand what Kale was going thru but sometimes it takes a while to heal what u broke. He screwed up so bad and waited way too long for me. He was a great guy but I totally lost respect for him. This book could have easily been a 5 star but I don’t like quick fixes when you make me hurt like Kale did. Promises mean something!

I wanted to love this book. I actually do-however.... it’s so VERBOSE! So many thoughts, feelings, and duplicity in every encounter. I don’t know how Kale and Hope can hold down conversations with all that uncertainty running through their minds. I got dizzy trying to follow the actions of the scene through their convoluted thoughts and ideas~whew.
I loved the characters! The H/h were fantastic. Their chemistry and attraction was off the charts. I was also enjoying the story, when she got around to writing about it.
The book could have been one third shorter without all the angst. I expect it in teeny bopper books but these two were near 30. Yes, life dealt them some drama, but get in line-that’s life.
I also struggled (with all the books in this series) with some of her sentence structure. She often starts sentences with the verb and no subject, really? “Struggling with reading that.”
I didn’t finish the book. I got 2/3rds through and couldn’t take anymore. They were finally going to consummate the relationship but they were doubting themselves all the way into the sheets. UGH!
I didn’t finish it. I read the end and filled in the blanks. Sad reader.

4 “Shortcake” Stars
In AL Jackson’s newest standalone in her Fight For Me series, Kale and Hope find each other when they least expected it. Neither is fully whole. Both are fighting battles that no one else can see. And yet these two have a passionate connection that neither can deny for very long. Told in her beautiful prose, Ms. Jackson swept me away to her small town world and captured my attention in this emotional romance.
Kale determined years ago that he wasn’t going to find and sustain the kind of romantic connection he once thought he’d have. Life isn’t fair and love isn’t worth the risk. He’s got his best friends, their families and his job. That’s all he needs. At least until Hope shows up in his small town and turns his life upside down. Hope isn’t looking for love. She actually doing the opposite. But when Kale pushes his way under her defenses, there doesn’t seem to be anything she can do to stop him. And truthfully even if she should, she doesn’t want to. As Kale and Hope tip toe around their non-relationship, old hurts come to the surface, past heartaches come roaring back and reality makes an entrance that neither can ignore.
After reading the first book in this series, I was so excited to get Kale’s story and he did not disappoint. He’s been broken in love before and as unwilling as he was to try again, it became obvious that Hope was exactly what he needed. And what started as a one time thing, became something so much more meaningful. I fell for Kale, his brokenness and his super sexiness. I fell for Hope, her brokenness and her resilance. Plus the addition of some of the best side characters to date — this book made me smile and swoon and fall in love with this little town all over again.

Second installment in the Fight For Me series, Follow Me Back is an emotional story about Kale Bryant and Hope Masterson, who might have lost hope at some point in their lives, hiding their scars to the world.
When these two collided, the charming, cocky and arrogant Kale is going to be have a run for his money about Hope, because for once, he wasn’t searching for someone just for one night or fun, an intense pull and overwhelming feelings that totally took him off guard.
I have to say that the author knows perfectly how to convey emotions, giving this intensity and tension between the characters. I did enjoy to see Kale to find his match, but if you have read the first one, you know that things won’t be easy with a road fraught with pitfalls, with all of the emotional baggage it entails.
In the beginning, the characters were gravitating around each other, incapable not to stay away, showing how great the chemistry was. I adored it. I know I was going to read an emotional story and I didn’t mind at all. These two had some baggage on their own and demons to fight. The banter and interactions were alternating between sweet, seductive, from seductive to smoking hot at times.
When things got messy, I was caught into this whirlwind romance, when the characters would decide what they had been worth the fight, bringing the tension and emotional level to another level, when the characters baring their souls and showing how much they meant to me, trying to make it work.
Follow Me Back could have been a story even more special if Kale’s indecisions or mostly his darkness, and fears were a bit too repetitive in the story. I understood the weight of his loss and the author managed perfectly to show it, don’t get me wrong but I was going on circles and dragged on at times. I wish some parts would have arrived sooner in the story. Hope was a fighter and in spite of her situation, she was determined to have a better future, one that would set her free.
I wanted to Kale to fight harder, I felt at times that it wasn’t enough. I wanted more.
Overall, I was happy to get Kale’s story. This character intrigued me from the beginning, someone who hide his pain to the world, behind his flirting and charming ways. Kale and Hope were such a beautiful couple, two souls who have deserved to find their happiness after all they’ve been through.

5 AMAZING, HEART-WRENCHING STARS.
I will admit, I felt like (for me) the story started off a little bit slow. Having finished the book and looking back, it was just fine though. As the story started to introduce more elements, I couldn't read it fast enough. It's one of those types of stories that you know something, anything could happen at any moment... and that chances are something is going to happen to test your ability to continue the story. But, I soldiered through. I sobbed. Had to clear the tears out of my eyes at some points to be able to read more. I fell so hard for all of the characters. And while the 2 main characters were great. It was Evan that really stole my heart. Every scene with that kid either made me smile or weep. I felt so protective over him. He's brave, funny and I could just imagine what a real Evan would be like. The love story surrounding him was complex and mysterious and was perfectly unraveled to the reader over the course of the book. I haven't found myself this emotional over a book in quite a while and just want to shout to anyone that will listen how much they need to read this one!

Follow Me Back is the second full-length novel in the Fight for Me series by the amazing A.L Jackson. You can read it as standalone since each book is about a different couple but the series follows a group of friends. I recommend reading the previous books, if not before this one then after. I met Kale in Show Me the Way and I started to fall then so I knew I would be completely in love now. And I was so right. Damn. He is even swoonier than I expected...
The minute he saw her she took his breath away. The minute she saw him she couldn’t look away. Something was in the air that night but after one conversation they still left separately. No names. No numbers. No see you arounds. Then, he walked into her coffee shop and it was like fate stepped in. He didn’t do commitments. She didn’t need more complications. But for some reason, they were brought together again.
Hope’s life was full of complications. Good ones. Bad ones. Sad ones. Happy ones. She couldn’t deal with another one. Especially one like Kale. A man she could easily fall in love with or break into a million pieces when it was over. It wasn’t the time for starting something new. She was in the middle of a divorce battle. Fighting to be free of her ex and his family. She could tell Kale was a good man. She didn’t want to bring him into this mess. But, what if he was who she needed? To give her more strength. More hope. More love. She knew she didn’t need him to survive but to let her feel alive again.
Kale didn’t do commitments. His patients, his friends, and his family was all he needed. That was until he saw her again. She was different. She gave him hope that he could love and be loved. He hadn’t felt this way in a very long time. Over the years it was faceless women. No dates. No romance. But he wanted that with this witty redhead. He wanted to show her a good time even she would only give him one night. One dinner. Just dinner. He took it. And what happened next was unexpected but also expected. He wanted more. He didn’t know what she was doing to him but he was scared and excited all at the same time. What if he couldn’t do this? Failure. It was what kept him back. What if he fails her?
Kale and Hope’s relationship has its complications but they are not all bad. Some are the best things to happen to someone. Some are the worst. It’s not easy for these two. I can’t really get too much more into the plot without spoiling anything. I will say that I absolutely fell in love with most of the characters. Hope is bada-, beautiful inside and out, stronger than she knows, and just overall a magnificent person. Kale is one swoony, protective, beautiful, and filthy man. Together, they are magic.
Overall...I fell hard for this couple. I was fully invested from beginning to end. I laughed, cried, and squirmed. It gave me all the feels. It was fun catching up with the supporting characters. I am so looking forward to seeing who is getting the next book. I have a feeling but never know...

**spoiler free review**
Dr. Kale Bryant is a man who is living for his friends and his patients, but not really for himself. His past had made him shut down his heart and believe he is not worthy of love. He comes off as cocky, confident, intense and dominant, but hides his damaged vulnerable core. But he is also kind, caring, and has a big heart. However he does not get attached to women or have relationships.
One look at Harley Hope Masterson stops him in his tracks. But she resists all of his usual lines. She says her life is complicated, but they can't seem to stop circling around each other until their worlds eventually collide. She's smart, hardworking, devoted, and a bit overwhelmed. Even though there is so much negativity in her life that she could succumb to, she is also a positive thinker and clings to as much hope as she can.
As a man who has not had any hope for a long time, her light draws him to her and begins to illuminate some of his dark parts. They both have secrets and motivations as to why they make the choices they do. There are battles to face, shaken faith, needing to grasp onto hope, and bad timing.
Can they get past their fears holding them back to try to help pull the other one out of their own darkness?
I loved these two. Their connection and chemistry was without question. Some of their complications didn't seem to be a big issues, but others seemed insurmountable. He's afraid to fail. She's so afraid of getting hurt and of loss. It's hard to get past their previous experiences and move on. Little gains lead to trust and more open hearts, but also make them vulnerable to more hurt.
Are hope and love enough to really conquer fears?
This story is full of tension, angst, heartache, frustration, but is also beautiful, heartwarming and inspiring. It will all come down to taking risks, fighting fears, fighting for love, and grasping on to dreams that feel impossible. Their secrets are gradually revealed--some are easier to figure out than others. They have demons to slay if there is a chance of moving forward.
It is a complex, multi-faceted story with twists and surprises that is told in dual points of view. It brings back the characters we met in Show Me the Way as they illustrate the importance of family, friends, and support. I enjoyed more with Rex, Rhynna, Nikki, Ollie, Lillith, and Brody. Her friend, Jenna was also a breath of fresh air. And some adorable kids stole the show. I like the setting of Gingham Lakes and the small town, community feel.
This story was intense, compelling, and emotional, and it keep me up late finishing it. My heart hurt for these characters so much, but also was inspired by their strong wills, capacity to love, generosity, and strength. It definitely put me through the wringer, made me feel, and took me out of a book slump. I am so looking forward to big, burly, outgoing Ollie's story next.

Follow Me Back was another emotional masterpiece by the brilliant A.L. Jackson that I couldn't get enough of! It's a stand-alone in the Fight for Me series, but I still recommend reading Show Me the Way first, as it only makes it even better if possible, plus I'm a biased, because I'm a HUGE fan of this awesome author! Kale Bryant is a cocky, sexy ER doctor married to his job, and he's happy that way. He learned a long time ago that loving someone isn't worth the risk, so his life consists of one night stands, until he meets Harley Hope Masterson. But there's one problem, she's not giving in to him, because her life is so complicated, that she doesn't have room for one more thing. But fate steps in, as Kale takes a new job that is down the street from Hope's coffee shop, so now Kale's wall around his heart is starting to crack, as he can't stay away, not to mention, her fight is starting to wear down the more she gets to know him. That's all that I'm giving away, and yeah, it may seem a bit generic, but I don't want to give out more of the plot. This story was an angst filled journey that brought me to my knees like only Ms. Jackson can achieve, as she has a special talent of doing that, and my eyes never just merely just leak with her stories, but there are straight up b*tch baby tears flowing! She's the queen of writing palpable pain that seeps out of my kindle that I literally feel like her characters are my real life friends. I loved Hope so much, and wanted to take out any & everyone who hurt her. And Kale, while I loved him, he made some questionable douchey decisions that had me itching to junk punch him a time or two. But together I couldn't deny that their fiery flames of sexy times lit the sheet up! And the colorful cast of secondaries added more depth, and a lot of humor to keep me laughing. Lastly, the twists that came out of left field had my f-bomb dropping strong, which made this story perfect in my opinion. I CANNOT WAIT for more from this amazing author who always puts her heart & soul into every story, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Goodness me. My heart. My aching and content heart. Follow Me Back put me through the wringer. It is A.L. Jackson giving me all her good that is her writing and some of the ugly that is life too.
I liked Kale a whole lot. His kindness. His passion. His brokenness His generosity. His pain. He wore it all as his armor and used it to let people in, but never too close. That was until he stumbled into Hope. I LOVED her. She was bold. Devoted. Gracious. Vulnerable but not weak. Strong beyond belief. As fiery as her red, red hair.
These two were on a collision course from the first time their eyes locked. Desperate. Powerful. Consuming. Dangerous. Not just for them but the well being of one magic boy, Evan. He is the center of Hope's world and what she works tirelessly to protect and defend. Everything is for him. Because of the delicate situation involving Evan lots of hard choices had to be made. Sacrifices. From both Kale and Hope. Despite the chaos and uncertainty, both Hope and Kale began to believe that maybe this could be the something more. That their broken pieces would fit with the other and they could be whole again.
From angst and family to friendships and love, Follow Me Back body slammed me right in the feels. Hope and Kale's journey was hard and painful and full of setbacks. But it was also full of comfort and peace and forgiveness. Forgiving each other and learning to forgive themselves. This book is everything you want in a not-so-small-town romance. It was soul-crushing and uplifting. Emotional and full of heart. And steamy too! A.L. Jackson left if all on the table, so to speak, and I can't wait to go back to Gingham Lakes.

Kale Bryant is starting a new job, meeting his new patients, and exploring the area around his new office. His job and his friends are his focus, leaving little time for himself. He is dedicated to his patients, loyal, and devoted.
Harley Hope Masterson’s life is complicated. She has so many irons on the fire, there is little time or energy left for herself. Hope’s shop, down the street from Kale’s office, offers the perfect excuse for Kale to run into her again and again, though neither is sure how to handle the attraction building between them.
Kale isn’t used to relationships, having preferred to keep things casual since college. Hope is still reeling from her impending divorce and isn’t looking to jump into another relationship anytime soon. But their chemistry runs high, and eventually they have to decide what is worth fighting for.
Add in Hope’s little guy and the challenges he faces and these characters have a lot to fight for. I loved watching each little moment as both Hope and Kale began letting down their walls. But this isn’t a story that can be resolved with just the couple -- there is more at play than either realize.
While I figured out a few of the pieces before they were revealed in the story, my enjoyment was not lessened. In fact, thinking I knew a couple particular threads kept me reading even closer to see if I was correct.
A.L. Jackson writes characters that fight through their flaws, in their own way, in their own time. Kale and Hope are no exception. I loved every minute of this emotional journey.

Engrossing, intense, emotional are just some words to describe this novel and even those words won't do it justice. Follow Me Back is Kale and Hope's story and the second book in the Fight For Me series. Its a story about love, family, friendship and even second chances
Al Jackson hit it out of the park with this one. With complex well-developed characters who were both relatable and likable, this story will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
The intensity of the chemistry between Hope and Kale will have you glued to the pages. The steamy scenes will have you swooning. The twists will have you stunned. The angst will have you biting your nails. This page-turner will have you hoping and praying and rooting for everyone.
Follow Me Back was a phenomenal read and I absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend this novel to everyone.
*I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.*

“Sometimes even Hope needed a Hero!”
Fairytales come in many forms, and in FOLLOW ME BACK, A.L. Jackson spins an achingly beautiful, LIFE AFFIRMING love story, featuring a gorgeously broody “Knight” who has no intention of riding off into the sunset until a flame-haired “Princess” and her remarkable little boy resuscitate his jaded heart!
THE STORY:
Two kindred spirits collide the moment arrogantly sexy MD Kale Bryant lays his eyes on the stunningly beautiful Harley Hope Masterson during a night of revelry at Ollie’s bar to celebrate his new position at Gingham Lakes Children’s Center. Something draws him inexorably toward the shy, sweet redhead, and although both have complicated, stressful lives and neither is in the market for a romantic entanglement, their magnetic attraction CANNOT. BE. DENIED.
Even though at first Hope seems immune to Kane's smoldering charm and shoots him down when he asks her out, she can only resist for so long. And eeep…he feels like the KING OF THE CASTLE when she finally allows him to “rescue” her for one night only! But after their lips lock in a toe-curling kiss and they share a moment of explosive passion, it’s clear that one night together will never be enough! But the consequences of surrendering to their hearts’ desires could be CATASTROPHIC!!
MY THOUGHTS:
I was spellbound by FOLLOW ME BACK, the second unforgettable novel in the A.L. Jackson’s Fight for Me series! Set in the quaint town Gingham Falls, AL, these loosely connected books follow the trials and tribulations of a close-knit group of boyhood chums who are tethered together by friendship, fierce loyalty and an unspeakable tragedy that forever altered their lives.
This new standalone is a beautiful woven tale that literally left me breathless! It’s chock full of captivating romance, heartwrenching angst, juicy drama, fun, flirty banter, and delicious, slow simmering passion! Although FOLLOW ME BACK is NOT a whimsical romance filled with butterflies and rainbows—it's REAL and RAW and there are some gut-churning twists that nearly brought me to my knees—through the sheer majesty of A.L. Jackson’s gorgeously lyrical words, I felt it ALL! . Love. Lust. Anger. Heartbreak. Aching Tenderness. Soul-Shattering Betrayal. Paralyzing Fear...the list goes on!
The character craftsmanship was beyond amazing! Starting of course, with our hero. Blond, blue-eyed, powerfully ripped and gorgeously chiseled, Kale Bryant had me coveting a “Sir Bryant” of my OWN to sweep me off my feet! I adored everything about this debonair MD--his filthy-hot mouth, his sexy swagger, his confidence, his “huge, beautiful, bleeding heart.” This caring pediatrician has not only dedicated his life to healing sick kids, but he dotes shamelessly on his godkids and his sweet, tender bond with the heroine’s little boy is guaranteed to make your ovaries COMBUST!
And of course, it would not be an A.L. Jackson book if said BBF was terribly tortured! In Kane’s case, he never recovered from loss of his first love and is weighed down by crippling guilt and regret for his inability to save her. But when the battle-scarred doc meets Harley Hope she knocks the breath out of him! Petite and delicate, “she was all feisty fire and soft-spoken uncertainty,” and although he is utterly petrified of history repeating itself, and failing Hope and her precious little boy, they make him want to slay every dragon on their behalf!
As for Hope, what a REMARKABLE heroine! You can’t help but root for this sweet and loving, self-sacrificing and brave young woman who runs a quaint little bakery/coffee shop, aptly named A Drop of Hope, while raising her special needs son Evan, all by her lonesome. She is going through a nasty divorce but she refuses to let her child be collateral damage, and as this ferociously protective mama bear braces for the greatest fight of her life, her unfaltering love and devotion toward her son is beyond breathtaking!
After all she’s been through, Hope does not trust easily but Kale was pure sin and seduction, wrapped up in one gorgeously arrogant package, and she fell fast and hard for “that smirk and that smile and those tender eyes.” He made her feel special. Wanted. Like a bona fide Princess. And HOLY EFFIN SWOON…the way he stepped up the plate for her little man , who gazed upon him with pure hero-worship, anointed him to FULL KNIGHT STATUS in her eyes!
And OMG Evan!! Jackson writes the cutest kids I have probably EVER read, and Hope’s little “miracle boy” just DECIMATED! On the surface he may appear fragile and breakable, but this remarkably stalwart little man is unstoppable! Gah! The way his spirit shines so impossibly bright despite all his hardships is absolutely awe-inspiring!
So, after all these glowing accolades, why four stars instead of five? Because as deeply as I felt for this hero, Kane's actions in the last third seemed out of character for this noble-hearted M.D. To be fair, I kind of got where he was coming from, but his final grand gesture of “self-preservation” just CRUSHED me and ultimately left me feeling a bit…..hallow. And I’m not sure what purpose it really served other than to make me want to hurl my kindle AND unnecessarily drag out the drama for a few more chapters! Bottom line? I wish Kane had come to his big epiphany sooner without having to shatter so many hearts—mine included!--in the process.
That said, I will give the author HUGE PROPS for making things right in the end, with a big, grandiose romantic reunion that had me WEEPING WITH JOY!
FINAL IMPRESSIONS:
FOLLOW ME BACK is a RESPLENDENT love story that made me believe in the possibility of fairytale wishes coming true and had me REJOICING in what truly matters in life. Love. Family. Friendship. Faith. And hanging your heart on hope…against all odds!

5 “paging doctor knightly” Stars!
The Review:
Seriously sexy, deeply romantic and powerfully moving, Follow Me Back is a profound, beautifully told story about moving on and holding tight to what is really important in life. I couldn’t get enough of this story. A.L. Jackson poured her heart and soul into this one!
Story/Characters...
Kale Bryant, moving on from emergency room doctor, is starting a new position in a new office, but first, he’s out for a night of fun and celebration with his best friends and maybe a one nighter like he’s prone to do because the one thing he does not do, is attachments. In fact, he’s committed to not being committed at all. However, the moment he sees the beautiful redhead across the bar, he knows things are about to change.
Hope Masterson is trying to separate herself from her past. She’s committed to starting over, hope always on the horizon for a “someday” but until then, she’ll do whatever it takes to keep her son safe, happy and alive. The moment she sees Kale Bryant, she can’t take her eyes off him, but “someday” can’t happen yet. Her life is too complicated. Her focus needs to be on what matters. But when her path keeps crossing with Kale’s, their forbidden attraction can’t be denied.
Both Kale and Hope were keeping secrets, both have painful pasts and both are just trying to get from one day to the next. But where Kale was fiercely guarded, knowing his failures ruined his picture perfect future, Hope was wholeheartedly open and optimistic for a fulfilling future, when she had every reason not to be. I loved both their characters for different reasons. And Evan ... oh sweet Evan, was a darling, adorable, loving, charismatic boy who pulled this whole story into focus.
Told in alternating POV’s, I enjoyed getting to know every facet of their characters as each layer was peeled back, revealing depth, heart and compassion. Kale was super sexy, incredibly sweet and definitely the hero he claimed not to be. Hope was a well rounded, beautiful soul, in and out who loved with everything she had. Not to mention, these two were intensely sexy together, their chemistry and slow build to romance expertly done!
I enjoyed how this novel unfolded. The author did an incredible job lining up all the pieces of the puzzle and letting them fall slowly, sprinkling the clues throughout, so you never really knew the full story until the climax.
And that ending? Perfect!
The Wrap Up:
This was a really well told story, full of delightful characters, touching scenes and a romance that was all consuming. I’m not going to lie. I caught myself tearing up more than once, laughing out loud at Kale and his sexy confidence, grinning from ear to ear at Kale and Hope’s playfulness, holding my breath, my heart pounding when things started to fall apart and ultimately cheering for these two characters to find their happily ever after.
Utterly sexy, emotionally captivating and perfectly written, Follow Me Back has all the “feels”!

Kale Bryant doesn’t date. He’s learned that getting too close to people only causes heartache, so he’s married to his job and only has time for flings and one night stands.
Harley Hope Masterson has enough complication in her life without adding a relationship to it . . . no matter how gorgeous and charming that complication may be.
Neither is looking for anything permanent, yet neither can walk away from the other even when they know they should. Not even when Kale learns that Hope is a single mom and her adorable son just happens to be one of his patients.
Hope knows her son Evan is everything to her and she is willing to put her life on hold to give him the life he deserves . . . even if that means escaping Evan’s verbally abusive father and turning away from the relationship she truly wants with Kale. It’s up to Kale to see if he is willing to fight for a future with Hope and Evan even though they represent everything from his past that terrifies him the most or if he is willing to walk away from the best things that may ever happen to him.
Follow Me Back was an amazing story of love and hope. Hope is mom of the year material! When she says she has a complicated life, she isn’t kidding, but she handles it with grace and love and an unbending strength even when all odds are against her. Her son Evan is truly a beautiful soul. He’s a child that could be bitter and angry at his circumstances. Instead he brings joy and light to everyone who is willing to take the time to know him. Kale wants so very much to be a part of that life, but a tragedy from his past ha shim gun shy. He’s so worried about atoning for his past and making sure he doesn’t ever go through that type of loss again, that he really isn’t living . . . until he takes a chance on Hope and Evan. His struggle of whether or not he will be strong enough to see it through or if he will walk away to protect his own heart is the true crux of this story.
It’s emotional. It's intense. It’s beautiful. It’s heartbreaking. It’s joyful. This story was an incredible read in so very many ways. Give it a read and allow Evan to work his way into your heart! You won’t regret it! 5 stars!

From the moment the first page is turned readers will find themselves on an emotional roller coaster ride as a strong-willed mother, in the fight of her life to save her son, thinks of herself for once and gives into the charming and sexy attentions of a man carrying his own demons. Moments of being a mother are balanced with moments of being a woman as a complicated relationship turns three people into a family in a story teeming with sensuality, tears, and gut-wrenching emotions.
Hope’s a woman who would do anything for her child. From the moment Evan was born with a heart defect she did everything to breathe life into him. With a husband who turned his back on his ailing child, it was her who gave him the tools to communicate despite his deafness. She was her son’s champion and it’s her love that’s kept his heart beating through the years. She sacrificed much for him, done things that put them in danger from the husband she’s trying to walk away from and left her shouldering the burdens alone. She made Evan the focus of her life to the exclusion of her finding someone to love her for just being her. Taking a chance on Kale though gave her someone to share the ups and downs with and gave her the chance to be carefree as he wrapped her up in his sensual haze. Hope’s a strong-willed and admirable heroine whose faith keeps her going despite the threats from her husband and Evan’s precarious health. She’s a bit closed-off at the start but being with Kale brings out a bolder woman, a woman who finally goes after the man who tempted her for far too long. She’s the epitome of a “mama bear” as she protects her son with ferocity which had me cheering. Her strength was empowering but it was immensely satisfying to see her find someone to support her for a change in a romance that was sweet and sexy.
Kale Bryant is the kind of doctor who gives his all to his patients, sacrifices his life for the job which leaves him little time for other commitments. The loss of his one true love also has him turning away from commitment as his guilt over his part in her death haunts him still. Her loss also fueled his desire to work with young cardiac patients which puts him in close contact with the young woman he’s been trying to win over. Kale was drawn to Hope the moment he laid eyes on her, sensed her pain and loneliness, and longs to be her hero. Through sweet words and deeds he makes a place for himself in her and Evan’s lives in a relationship that brought a smile to my face. Kale proves himself early on as a man happy to commit and the three of them became a picture perfect family until one moment changed everything. It was a frustrating event and I wanted to smack Kale for it. Until then, I’d fallen for the man myself! The fall-out from the event was heartbreaking, requiring a few tissues along the way for readers, but ultimately leading to a hard-fought HEA. The cheer-worthy HEA humanized Kale, showing him to be imperfect after all the heroic and romantic deeds he did early on, and I liked him all the more for his realism.
This was a quick read full of heart and soul. Hope’s the kind of mother you wish for every child as she fought for him at every turn. She protected him but made sure he lived life to the fullest. Being with Kale showed her in a different light as she became a woman in their time together through numerous scorching encounters and sensual talks. Kale’s a sexy hero, an imperfect one too, who found out that playing hero is harder than it looks. The glue that held them together was the sweet and endearing Evan, a child with a heart defect and deafness that was realistically depicted. I don’t normally care for kids in romances but he utterly charmed me. He was young but wise beyond his years for all the issues he endured. Ms. Jackson seamlessly incorporated his deafness into the story, made his interactions with others feel natural, and as a disabled person myself I greatly appreciated her effort. There was so much to like about this story, so much that captivated me, which is why the storyline involving Hope’s ex felt especially jarring. Her ex was stereotypically villainous in a storyline that was soap opera-ish and I cringed whenever he came on the scene. Despite this small issue I thoroughly enjoyed the group of characters inhabiting this story. Kale and his friends are like a family, supporting each other unconditionally, and I’ve enjoyed watching all of them find their HEAs while greatly anticipating the gentle giant Ollie being the next to fall. Hope’s obligations and Kale’s fears over the past may have caused a few roadblocks along the way but through heartbreak and joy readers finally reached an ultimately immensely satisfying HEA in a story that I recommend wholeheartedly.

“For every heart broken, one was mended. For every life lost, there was one saved.”
A.L. Jackson has left me completely speechless! Follow Me Back is not only my top read of 2018 so far, but one of my favorite all-time books EVER! This book and the characters will completely melt your heart!
This is Kale’s story, and the woman, Hope, who captures this man’s heart is indeed special. Kale is complicated…sexy, sweet, and married to his job as a doctor. Hope is sweet, caring, and has the soul of a warrior. The two of them have spent years chained by their pasts but for two very different reasons. Both of them are hit by an explosive pull toward one another from their first meeting at the neighborhood bar. Kale is no stranger to the attention of women. He uses sex to feel a little bit of freedom, feeling “lost, unbound, and unchained.” He finds out very quickly that Hope isn’t the kind of woman he can just get lost in for one night. She makes that very clear. Yet, the two can’t stop thinking about each other. When he sees her again at her coffee shop, he can’t leave her alone. They continually feel that pull, but this is a romance that will pack a punch to their hearts, as well as you readers!
Both Kale and Hope have a lot in common. They can see that shared pain in each other, but Hope is in the fight for her life, and Kale will be drawn into it as well if he falls for her. Hope knows dangerous men, and Kale “oozes persuasion, dominance, and sex.” This makes him very dangerous to her. As she gets to know him, she also sees that he is “perceptive, kind, and intuitive.” She could fall for him so incredibly easily, but she isn’t sure that is wise.
What I loved about Kale was that he wanted to get “inside of her mind” as much as he wanted to get her in his bed. My heart hurt so much for him, and yet I fell so in love with him when he got to the crux of who Hope was in her soul. And, he fell even more in love with her. Their chemistry was insane, but it was so much more than lust.
“…Simmering between us like oen of those chaotic summer thunderstorms gathered over a lake. The kind of storm you knew was going to rock your entire world.”
I don’t think I have ever enjoyed watching a couple fall in love like I did Kale and Hope.
As with the earlier book and novella, a big part of the book is the relationship Kale has with his friends. I have to say I felt the same way about Hope’s relationship with Jenna. Both of them had such a unique, important friendship. Each of them shared joys with their friends as well as helping each other through the hard times.
Jackson has some surprises within the book that I will let her reveal to you as you read because they make the book even more special and heartfelt.
A.L. Jackson always writes from the heart, but she went to a completely different level with this book. She broke my heart and pieced it back together again, leaving me with a full heart and a smile on my face. This really is a fairy tale complete with a knight in shining armor and his princess! Her words are absolute poetry!!!!

Al Jackson continues to prove over and over again why she’s one of my absolute favorite authors. Not many authors have me laughing and giggling one minute and the next I’m crying while holding my breathe the next.
When I first got a glimpse of Kale in Show Me The Way I knew from his interactions with Frankie Leigh that I needed more from him. But, no joke I was so unprepared for Kale.
Kale had his heartbroken years ago. He lost the only women he ever loved. The signs were right there and he missed them. Kale refuses to fall in love again. His life revolves around his job and his friends. They’re his family.
But, one night at his friends bar changes everything. When he meets Hope something happens and then he turns him down flat. That’s never happened to him before and he’s not sure how to act. Days later and he’s still thinking about her.
Kale’s worked as a doctor in the emergency room for years. He is starting a new job in an office and he’s going to be a pediatric dr and he’s looking forward to it. On his way there he decided to stop at the new coffee shop that opened up right by his office. He’s shocked to see his Hope owns it. Before he realizes what he’s doing he’s pretty much begging for a date. With the promise of just one night and just dinner. Kale didn’t realize how much his life was going to change with just one night.
Hope is trying to start over. She’s got a new house. Her and her best friend Jenna opened up their coffee shop ‘A Drop of Hope’. Most importantly she’s trying to keep her ex-husband away from her and their son Evan. Hope lives for Evan. He’s the best thing in her life and everyone’s life he enters. The last thing she needs is a guy like Kale entering it. But, he gets her to go out with him. And, after one night together she can’t stop thinking of him. But, you know the saying somethings are just too good to be true. Yes! Hope and Kale’s relationship has the breaks thrown on before they could floor the gas pedal. Evan’s health and happiness comes before her own and Kale’s one of the best Drs and things can get tricky. Too bad these two can’t seem to stay away from each other.
Holy holy cow!!! These two are smoking hot and when it’s the three of them they’ll melt your heart. Kale had me swooning with Frankie Leigh. But, with Evan you’ll just melt into a puddle. Seriously!! Kale is a protector to those he loves. He becomes very protective of Hope and Evan and will do anything to keep them safe. Hope hasn’t had it easy. Evan’s the best thing to happen to her and she won’t let anybody hurt him or take him away from her. Hope and her best friend Jenna are doing everything the best for him. No matter the consequences. Even though Kale throws a wrench in her plans, she’s got Jenna reminding her that she has to live a bit for herself. She was totally unprepared for what Kale brought into their lives.
Once I started this I couldn’t put it down. There was definitely times that things happened that I didn’t see coming. There was one time I legit thought the worst and yelled.
Al Jackson is the best of the best. Every book, every story is better then the last. So far the men and their women from Gingham Lakes are beautiful, strong, emotional, caring, loving people who are all about taking care of each other. They’re all a family. And, Ollie’s next and after reading both Rex and Kale’s stories I’m excited to get hers.

I am writing this review without my heart, because it was left with Kale and Hope when I read the final words of this book.
My ego has been checked once again. I thought I was prepared this time, ready to tackle again, one of this author’s books, and just enjoy a good read. I knew it was going to happen though, just didn’t think it could reach the level that I am at right now. To be so emotionally charged myself, that I’m practically a ball of static. Of course, this is much to my delight.
Follow Me Back had my emotions all over the place. I didn’t know what I would read and feel next. I didn’t see it coming, because just when I was ready to cheer, a twist or two were thrown in to turn my whole experience on its head......in the best way possible. My heart ached, and then jumped for joy, only to have it shredded and then threaded back together again, in a way that only A.L. Jackson could deliver.
I mean seriously, I could write a review alone just off of the many, many, many, quotable lines in this book.
Kale is a doctor. A doctor that wants to make a difference in this world. He’s sweet, charming, caring and sexy as hell, but he has a past that screams for redemption that he doesn’t think he will ever be able to achieve. The weight of his guilt has forced him to close his heart off, leaving him to enjoy the fairer sex, without the messy entanglement or notions of love.
Then comes along Hope.
Hope is a force. A force that is brave, beautiful, strong, and served with a cup of sweetness on the side. However, Hope too has a past that makes her someone who has her walls up and living with complication after complication.
When these two meet, they know there is something beyond special about the other, but both resist the urge to take a leap of faith.
The build up is intense between Kale and Hope, and A.L. Jackson’s words continued to be the perfect fan to the flames, turning their attraction for one another, into an all out inferno.
Now it’s just a matter of the two accepting that they are exactly what they need to be for each other......screw the consequences!
I would highly recommend Follow Me Back or any other book from this author. They are amazing, and almost all of them are stand alone novels with fantastic side characters (which you will love and be begging for their story), and memorable main characters from previous books that make appearances so you can catch up with them after their story was told.
Now, follow the link to purchase Follow Me Back. One of the best purchases you will make this year.

“Why do the best things have to come into our lives at the worst time?”
“I know sometimes it feels that way. But in the end, it turns out things happen exactly when they’re supposed to.”
Kale Bryant has been married to his job for many years, giving his all to his patients and to his friends. The only time he takes anything for himself is the occasional one night stand, never wanting or thinking he’s deserving of more. Everything he thought he wanted or could have was thrown into a tailspin, however, the day he set his eyes on Harley Hope Masterson. There was something about this red-haired beauty that called to him and despite knowing he should walk away, he found himself trying to get closer and closer to her. Hope’s life is more than complicated and the last thing she needs is another one in the form of this sexy, confident doctor but she can’t resist the pull between them either. As Hope finds herself in the fight of her life, will Kale be willing to risk his heart again to stand beside her and fight?
“I live for the people around me. For my job. My friends. Their families. My patients. I’ve walked that line for a long, long time. The straight. The narrow. Never veering from my path. But as hard as I try to stop it, colliding with you feels unavoidable.”
I can't say too much without giving spoilers so this'll be a shorter review. If you read Show Me the Way then you should remember Kale, Rex’s charismatic best friend and E.R. doctor. I really liked him in that book and I really loved him as we got to know more about him in this one. He’s been battling with guilt over something that happened many years ago and it’s caused him to remain closed off when it comes to women, but when it comes to his patients and his friends he gives 110% of himself and for that, it was easy to respect him. So of course, it was nice to finally see him find a woman that made him want to give his all to her. Hope definitely had her hands full with her terrible ex and the bitter divorce they were embroiled in and it’s even worse when you realize all she has at stake. She was, understandably, guarded when it came to letting Kale in but it was nice seeing him worm his way through those walls. I thought they had great chemistry and I really enjoyed them together. Things were kind of slow for a while, though, I knew that something big was coming but it seemed like it took a very long time to get there. Things finally do come to a head and there were some twists I wasn’t expecting, which were nice. All of the angst and heartache are worth it in the end, though, and I am very much looking forward to reading about Ollie now!
“You are perfect, Hope. Sweet, sublime perfection. The first time I saw you, I knew it. Had this feeling like I’d been struck. Like maybe I wouldn’t ever be the same. Know now that I never will.”

A.L. Jackson knows how to touch you profoundly with her incredible writing. In Follow Me Back, she fashioned the perfect mix of attraction, heartbreak, hope and charming characters to make this read exceptional.
Kale Bryant is not the kind of man to get his heart involves with women, but when he meets the stunning and reserved Hope, there’s just something compelling about her. He can’t stop thinking about this woman. I enjoy how from the very start this undeniable magnetism between them is impossible to ignore. Kale has this interesting carefree attitude. He’s flirty and charming, but also funny and dedicated. He lives for his job as a doctor taking care of his little patients. Under his picture-perfect nature, he hides heartbreak and guilt over a terrible event that forged the damaged man he now is. He’s fearful of opening his heart to Hope, because of these feelings of self-loathing and inadequacy.
While Kale is such an interesting protagonist, Hope is also a strong heroine and incredibly steadfast. She feels something for Kale, but her home situation is so difficult that she doesn’t see any possibility of a relationship with him. She works with one goal in her mind and nothing will make her swerve from this purpose. Kale is definitely a distraction, but he’s so enticing that the barriers she tries to put between them gradually erase.
The intense chemistry and sexual attraction is only growing and growing through the story and when it finally reaches its peak, the passion unleashed between these two is blissful and touching. A.L. Jackson has a magic touch with the way she beautifully crafts this kind of relentless anticipation. I live for these moments in a book!
I was so glad to see a little more of Rynna, Rex, Frankie Leigh, Nikki, Ollie, Lillith and Brody. I love how they’re such a great group of friends, always there to help Kale in his battles. There’s a sense of family more than friendship between Ollie, Rex and Kale and it shows remarkably in this series.
Once again, the Fight for Me series made me fall hard for a sweet couple with a lot of adversity, but a relationship so worth it! I laughed, swooned, cried and hurt for Hope and Kale. Follow Me Back is a ride of emotions over emotions that is not to be missed.

OMG! OMG! In my opinion – Follow me back is the best work of AL Jackson and I love all her books so that says something about this masterpiece. I have a soft spot for doctor heroes and you guys, Kale is the best kind. Kale is a gorgeous ER physician who is married to his job. He does not do relationships or love but he hasn’t always been this way. An event in the past changed his life forever and not in a good way. Kale is fighting a losing battle with his demons and his friends are worried. Hope is caught in the middle of a nasty divorce. She was young and naïve. She married a man who turned out to be a no-good bastard. Hope is now fighting not only for herself but for her son’s life. I really love this heroine – she is beautiful, sweet, and so brave. It took a lot to leave her ex-husband and his influential family knowing she will risk losing everything in the end. Kale – SWOONS!!! Kale is a hero in every sense of the word. He is a caring and compassionate doctor. As a man, he is loving and protective of the people he loves. The way that he fell in love with little Evan just melted my heart. I think AL Jackson did an amazing job with the relationship connection between Kale and Evan - it’s heart-warming, natural, and real. I am totally smitten with this hero!!!
I think what you read in the blurb is all you’ll need going in. You really want to experience the element of surprise as the story unfolds. There is a huge twist in the plot that will knock you on your butt though. I sense a bit of mystery behind Evan and his father’s relationship, but I did not expect Kale and Hopes’ lives to intertwine in that way. Everyone has a breaking point and I think because Kale was overwhelmed with emotion and grief, he made a small mistake toward the end. Ultimately, everything is exactly as it should be – I am not going to lie, after an emotional read, I need my HEA :) This love story really tugged at all my heartstrings. I was an emotional mess throughout and cried buckets of happy tears at the end. Follow Me Back is beautiful, heart-felt, passionate, and frankly unforgettable. A poignant story of love, hope, healing and happiness.
A MUST READ 6 STARS!!!!!

OMG! That ending!!! That ending just gutted me. Gutted me in the best possible way. The tears will not stop. They just will not stop. That was the best possible way to end a book!
Follow Me Back is so much more than a love story. It is story of hope. It is a story of family. It is a story of strength and devotion. It is a story of a mother's love. A love so strong, there is nothing she wouldn't do for her son. Nothing she wouldn't hide. Nothing she would ever stop fighting for....
When we first meet Kale, he is the doctor who appears to have it all. He's cocky, arrogant and sexy as ever. But, there is more to Kale than meets the eyes. Behind the cocky exterior is a man who is lost. A man who knows the love of a good one woman and is terrified to put his heart on the line again. Meeting Hope is a total game-changer for Kale. No matter how hard he tries to stay away, he can't fight the pull...Hope is one of the most loving and devoted people you will ever meet. Nothing and I mean nothing means more to this one than her miracle little boy. Stuck in a never ending nightmare divorce, Hope prays that one day, her ex will sign those papers. What she never planned on though was meeting Kale. Kale makes her breathe easy. He makes her want things that she's not ready to have; a life she can only dream of living. No matter how hard she tries, she can't deny the pull she feels for Kale....
Follow Me Back is a breathtaking second chance romance. Follow Me Back is so incredibly well written. It is a story that will consume you. It will take your emotions through the ringer and leave you with all the feels. Follow Me Back is an emotional story of hope, faith, loss and love. It is a story that will consume you and have you devouring the pages. A.L. Jackson has once again delivered an unforgettable second chance romance that will tug at your heart, make you believe in happy endings and never stop fighting for what matters the most. This story was absolutely amazing and I loved every second of it.

WOW! Another stunning, emotional read from this author.
"The girl was calm and a raging fire. Peace and a hurricane. Modest and demure with a straight shot of vixen."
Kale Bryant was happy being a workaholic doctor, leading the bachelor life, and satisfying his needs with casual flings. The first time he sees Harley Hope Masterson, he nearly trips over himself. He's completely knocked out by her. However, she's not interested whatsoever.
"He looked like discord. Chaos with an easy, arrogant smile. A perfect, controlled disaster."
Hope lives for her son. She has a complicated life and is focused on running her coffee shop with her bestie, and looking after her special-needs son. She can't afford entanglements of any kind - even with sexy, god-like specimens like Kale.
"I was feeling things I hadn't ever felt before. A wild kind of protectiveness. A savage kind of possessive."
Gaaaaaaaah!! This book! As with the first book in this series, this one had all the feels straight off the bat. It is high-impact stuff! Full of emotion, sexiness, and drama. I absolutely adored it!
"It was the tenderness and care lined beneath his gorgeous exterior that made him truly dangerous."
Kale is so freakin' gorgeous! He's cocky but so understanding and empathetic. I loved how he had hardly any control over his actions when it came to Hope. He absolutely won me over with his love of the little people in this novel - his adoration of Frankie Leigh and his immediate connection and fondness for Evan. But his fears - gosh, they made him so vulnerable, so human, so real.
"You feel so good. You make me want things I know I shouldn't ask you for."
Hope is a fighter. She's a fantastically strong female character. I loved the risks she took to be with Kale, even though they might jeopardise her entire situation. She knows she can't afford to let her guard down but I loved how Kale breached her defences.
This was an immensely emotive novel. It was full of humour, pathos, sizzling hotness, and heart-melting goodness. I loved it hard! #TopRead2018

When Dr. Kale Bryant stepped into his buddie Ollies' bar to celebrate his new endeavor with his best friends he had no idea that his world would be turned upside down by the red-headed, green-eyed beautiful woman sitting across the bar. (GO GET THAT GIRL; THE GIRL OF MY DREAMS) Not Kale Bryant, our cocky, sexy, never gonna settle for another woman never Doctor! Not after her. He was married to his career, taking care of his patients, his friends, and his family. To him Sex was his prize! At least until her.....
Hope Masterson has secrets of her own as she is a complicated woman running from her cruel, wicked and vicious husband to protect her son, a special needs boy who she loved with all her heart and soul. She opened a coffee shop "A Drop of Hope" and stayed under the radar changing her last name to protect them.
Only trouble was Kale couldn't get her out of his head, and she couldn't get him out of hers.
AL Jackson is sensational at how she writes this story the witty, bantering of these two characters is a true show-stopper. The emotions shared through this beautiful book is inspiring, but wrenching where you are so enthralled you just can't stop turning the pages. A true beauty.
She is right on with the explosive ?chemistry of these two characters!??
Unaware of her past and her complications. Dr. Kale Bryant is persuasive when it comes to Hope Masterson. Little did he know when he stepped into the coffee shop that it was hers. He is so taken back by the site of her as she stood there staring at him: all Strawberries? and Creme and everything sweet he buys all of her lollipops in an effort to support her cause. Convincing her to let him make her feel good and that she needs him. When she gives for one night-- its like fireworks. The girl who gets her fairy tale. Talk about falling in love SWOON!
But when she takes Evan, her son to his new Dr. to discover it is Dr. Kale Bryant, does it get interesting. Kale is professional and earns her respect with the care he provides to her son, she allows those butterflies to flutter more as she fights the feelings she has for our sexy, and cocky Dr. While Kale is mesmerized by his feelings for her and the joy and emotion he has for her son Evan.
Remembering that Kale is not the guy for settling down, he finds himself wanting her more than he's ever wanted anyone. Hope rips Kales heart out when she confronts him and tells him that she must walk away so he can continue to care for her son as to not have a conflict of interest. But he swears he won't run and he wants more. When Hope gives him her heart and her sons, there is a life changing event that causes their lives to take a heart wrenching turn. This story is filled with so much tenderness, happiness, pain and heartache. It is truly spell-binding.
Kale runs back to Hope trying to convince her "She is you, Hope. I want to get inside you so badly, it's painful. But the last thing I want to do is complicate things more than they are.
Amazingly enough is that Evan is the connection to their hearts in more ways than you've ever known.
Realizing his own selfishness he recognizes that his Someday.....I'll find what was meant for me. (HOPE) That day you'll find me too (KALE) . Just don't let it be too faraway! (FALL IN LOVE)
