Great insight into the life of a very misunderstood public figure. You read much about a person in media, yet reading this book gives a much more complete and inspiring insight into what Kristin has been through in life, and she also offers a lot of wise & sound advice to all readers. Some is geared toward women, as a lot is focused on motherhood tips, but there's something for everyone, of all genders, orientations and life types. Not to mention a sampling of delicious recipes! Definitely get this book! Fan or no, after reading thisyou'll get a new respect for her and her accomplishments in life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Personally, Kristin Cavallari is my girl crush so I was really excited to read her first book.
She absolutely inspired me to be more conscious about reading food labels and about what we put into our bodies. She even makes it easy by listing a handful of chemicals to avoid. I even wrote them down on a index card to threw it in my purse so when I'm at the market I can reference it easier. Her recipes look and sound delicious and I cant wait to try them. They are an added bonus to her book.
The only thing I wish she did add was more products that she uses and brands she prefers. Not that brands always matter but for someone who has done as much research as she has it would be nice to here what she found to be the best options.
Cavallari does a great job of giving everyone a glimpse into her life and offers words of advice along the way. Fun, easy read for her fans or anyone interested in learning more about her and living a happy, healthy lifestyle.

This book is okay if you are interested in improving your healthy eating and parenting life-style. The only concern is that I feel people who know Kristin from her shows want to know more about her real life juicy details from those eras. The kind of people that are going to buy this book want the behind-the-scenes reality of the "reality". She was so sassy and pretty much the number 1 "it" girl of that time-how could there be nothing to talk about? No one has been able to do this reality book writing thing better than Courtney Robertson from the Bachelor.

I've been a fan of Kristin Cavallari since Laguna Beach and later on, The Hills. Of course, Hollywood portrayed her as, well...not a nice person but I never truly believed that she was like that in real life. Over the last few years, I've become an even bigger fan of her since she became a mom and have the utmost respect for everything I've read about her (I have seen some of her status updates on social media sites). Last night, I saw that she released a book and I immediately purchased it. Since I am a mom as well and am also looking for ways to create a healthier lifestyle, I had no problem splurging on this book.
As soon as I started this book, I was hooked! I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading it because I love the topics covered in this book and the style in which it is written. I would describe this book as mostly a self-help guide with elements of an autobiography since she writes about herself, a bit of how she grew up and how she came to be the person she is now. For anyone looking for lots of gossip on reality TV and what really happened on Laguna Beach and The Hills, this isn't that kind of book. Yes, there are some parts where Kristin Cavallari gives readers information on what actually happened but it's mostly used to show how she decided to change herself to become who she was meant to be. In this book, she often reflects on who she used to be and looks at how far she has come. All in all, she is shown to be a very real person.
Balancing in Heels is written in a very positive, encouraging way and I couldn't stop from smiling because I just felt so happy reading this book! The book is divided into chapters on topics such as becoming a mother and wife, eating healthy, working out, and fashion. Kristin Cavallari writes about what works well for her and even provides examples on what she does to make sure her family eats healthy, "real" food and exercises. I learned quite a bit from this book and already this morning, I've been checking nutrition labels to happily discover some of the foods she says are very clean are already ones that I regularly keep in the house! She ends each chapter with a summary called "Balancing it All" to reinforce her main points. She even includes several recipes at the end of the book in case you want to try some of her favorites and I'll admit, most of them sound pretty tasty.
I loved this book, which probably had something to do with the fact that I already knew who Kristin Cavallari was, but this book would appeal to anyone, regardless of if you know who she is or not. Balancing in Heels talks about how she is happy with who she is and breaks down what she does to stay happy and healthy. I already plan on incorporating some of her tips into my lifestyle. The only thing I regret is purchasing this book on my Kindle Paperwhite because the screen is smaller than some of the other Kindles and some of the pictures and charts on the screen of the Paperwhite aren't as easy to see. Since I plan to use this as a reference, I am going to bite the bullet and purchase a paperback copy as well. If you are either a fan of Kristin Cavallari or are looking for a good, positive book to help encourage a healthier lifestyle, I highly recommend this one and hope she writes more books in the future!

Unfortunately, I completely agree with other 1-star reviews. I was sorely disappointed in this book. This book promised to 'hold nothing back', yet I felt like that's all it did. I thought I would gain new insight into Kristin (who I'm a fan of) and her journey, but instead got a bunch of generic statements that have been repeated time and again. For example, some tips from the book include: take care of yourself after you have a baby by finding a hobby, communicate with your partner by using "I" statements, and don't eat processed foods. I learned absolutely nothing about her. I couldn't relate to a lot of things in the book, either .. A lot of the workouts require gym equipment (I work out at home) and she talks about how she didn't have a hard time losing pregnancy weight. Kristin is very successful and happy, and I'm truly happy for her, but this book was definitely just a collection of general tips that we all already know.

Good and refreshing read. I am excited to try some of the recipes. Loved the food tips and nutrition information too since our family follows a strict diet due to food allergies. Would love to see a follow up book that is a cookbook.

I love when a celebrity can set the record straight and tell their story. All to often we think we know someone by the way the media portrays them and many think they can openly share hateful comments to them, as if they know what they are signing up for.... Read this and then form an opinion. I am all for any momma that is living their dreams while taking great care of their babies!!! We really can have it all and Kristin shows that! Grateful for this book and her.

I thought the book was insightful. She touched on a lot of issues. I think this book is a good stepping stone for other books which could be more one topic specific. I personally like her style and felt she covered things that were helpful.

I just got done reading/flipping through pages and pages of pictures and I have to say, I'm disappointed. For the price, I was expecting more context than pictures but this was not the case. If you follow Kristin on Instagram, you've probably already seen many of these pictures already. She does state in the title of her book it will be about health so I was expecting some health related information but this subject far outweighed anything else. If I wanted to learn how to cook I would just watch one of the thousand cooking shows already on tv. I was really hoping for more in depth view of the inner workings of her personal life but this book largely focuses on her fitness, eating and beauty routines. Maybe I was expecting something this was never meant to be about but let's be real, where are the juicy interesting tid bits. There was just nothing in this that gave me a page turner can't wait to stay up all night reading feeling. Props to her for writing a book but I'm just overall disappointed.

When you're reading fiction or watching a movie, the experience is a lot better when you have at least a vague idea of what the story is going to be. It's called "schema." And that's how I approached this book. I knew this wasn't a tell-all book. I knew it had a lot of pictures and that it would only feature little bits and pieces of Kristin Cavallari's life. So, with the right expectations, I actually had a lot of fun reading this book.
The book is divided into different sections like motherhood, post-baby workout, marriage, recipes, style/fashion etc. There isn't anything new in this book that she hasn't said in her interviews, but I am a fan of Kristin Cavallari and I appreciated her take on life. They weren't ground-breaking but who says she has to be? I was a huge fan of the show Laguna Beach and she seems so much more grounded now and it shows in the book.
The parts that may give more insight into her as a person are the parts where she talks about her past relationships and how she came to agree to marriage. Granted she doesn't expose anything juicy and spends only a sentence or two on some of the relationships but I personally think it's smart of her to do that. Celebrity or not, if you're not ready to be open about your private life then good for you, girl! The other part was her struggle with eating (or not eating) and how differently she approaches health and looking good now. Again, nothing groundbreaking and you're not going to find anything that you haven't heard her say on interviews. But it was fun to see it written down and I was actually quite inspired by her healthy eating strategies.
For those who are looking for 'balancing' family and work tips, she does discuss this no a few of her pages. Again, it's nothing you can't find through googled articles but sometimes it's fun to hear it from a celebrity that you like!
Lastly, it's pretty darn clear that she wrote this herself. It almost reads as a transcript of her interview. She inserts a few cuss words here and there, so the book may not be an autobiography of her entire life, it is written by her.
It's a book to be enjoyed by Kristin Cavallari fans. And I did!

Eh. Save your money. Information pretty much common kmowledge. Eat healthy greens, organic food and products, blah blah blah. No real substance and while I think she is one of the prettiest women out there, I feel like this book is just her attempt to TRY and stay relevant. Pictures are good, but other than that save your money and purchase other books for healthy recipes that do not require trips to specialty stores for bizarre ingredients.

This book is a young mom’s worst nightmare. Completely unrelatable and makes you feel bad about yourself while you read it. Kristin talks about how naturally so many fantastic things come to her- breastfeeding, losing pregnancy weight, eating super clean, wholeheartedly loving her husband and kids, never ever feeding her kids processed food, exercising consistently. The list goes on. I know that Kristen is a real human being and has struggles. Would’ve been nice if she had talked about them in her book. This book is all fluff and is under the guise of helping women be able to live a healthy and happy lifestyle but all it does is frustrate and annoy them while they struggle to read this crap. Nope Kristin, you missed the mark. You managed to put out the most sanctimommy thing possible. Ugh.

I was a little disappointed after reading some of the reviews. I read the book, and I guess it is geared toward the more mature crowd. Yes, she talks about her marriage and kids, but even if you dont have kids or a husband, you can still get something out of the book. She speaks about the importance of being healthy and happy, both inside in out. I guess only people that actually care about their health and happiness will appreciate this book. If you want to learn about her "fake" life on The Hills, then rewatch the show. What she writes about in this book is what she is currently passionate about; her family, her health, and her career. We all grow and mature, and have different priorities in life then when we were younger.

I have been a Kristin Cavallari fan since Laguna Beach aired and finally got to read her book, Balancing in Heels!
She shared so many insights into her day to day life as a mother, wife and business woman. She is very honest about parts of her life that most celebrities hide. I also liked reading about all her home remedies for face scrubs and moisturizers!
I have seen her out and about a couple times in Nashville, now that she calls it home, and she looks just as good in real life as she does in the book or tv- so you know she takes care of herself! She has recently opened her new store Uncommon James in the Gulch area of Nashville! If you are a fan you will of course enjoy this!!

What a joke. I suspected this book was nothing more than a self-aggrandizing attempt of Cavallari to pat herself on the back for just doing what most women manage to accomplish without fuss or comment, and that's exactly what this book is - self-congratulatory rubbish. Unless you're a hopeless loser seeking advice from someone of mediocre accomplishment, then you might find this helpful. Otherwise, it's a total waste of time.

I love this book! My view of Kristin before reading this book was that she was a total airhead, but this book totally changed my view. Her ideas about pregnancy, children, food communications, and relationships are sound and great! She has put herself out there and I have learned and confirmed many ideas. Thanks, Kristin!

Kristin is a high-school graduate with no medical training or scientific credentials and yet feels her "Google" searches qualify her to give nutritional and medical advice. Please speak to your board-certified pediatrician before following any of her health tips. Giving goats milk to children under 12months can be dangerous and is not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Don't bother buying this book. Really Balancing in Heels? You have nannies that raise your kids. She's not really balancing it all because everyone else is doing it for her. This book is a waste of paper. Poorly written and it seems like very little editing was done.

I really loved this book. The content is just what the title says, how she balances different aspects of her life. From being a mom to a wife to an individual. The recipes are great and I especially like how she talks about her particular lifestyle choices and why she does them. She also talks about fashion and her career which I can appreciate as well. Very well-rounded. But by no means is this an autobiography.

This is not meant as an autobiography or some classic novel. You don't have to feed your child goats milk if you don't want to. This is my first time reading a lifestyle book and I chose well. Kristin gives great advice on fashion, eating right, and working out. I've made 4 of her recipes and they were a hit. This book also encouraged me to be more conscious of what I eat and I feel better already. Kristin is a sweet girl and seems very down to earth. On a side note- she has a great shoe line from Chinese Laundry! I have two pairs and I'm in love with them.

Kristin is amazing! I love her healthy eating and workout advice. And don’t even get me started about her fashion and life advice. I was reading this and was like “LC (Lauren Conrad) who?!” Haha. Thanks KC. Keep them coming!

I have liked Kristin since the Laguna Beach days, but since reading this book I actually love her more. I feel like the book is very easy to read, you can tell she did most, if not all, of the writing. She's very open and honest about her opinions and gives you a reason why instead of the normal, "I'm a celebrity, of course I'm right" attitude you see in other books like this written by celebs. It felt like you were sitting down with a friend. I've tried some of her recipes and they are actually really good! I'm thinking of giving this healthier lifestyle a try with my boyfriend! Way to go Kristin!

She goes into detail about her days on both shows and I found this information to be interesting given my aforementioned history. She gives up some secrets which is always nice to get the juicy stuff. She straightens some things out and tells of how some storylines were manipulated and in the same token, how she was manipulated. We all knew it went on, right? But hearing it from one of the shows top stars was an eye-opener into the sometimes slimy world of reality TV.
She also tells of how she met Jay and the blossoming of their romance. It was nice to hear of the "pre-Jay days" too, in which she describes dating the wrong guys and shares some embarrassing nuggets of her personal life. It is in this section that she laments having to leave some people who were bad for her behind, both friends and lovers, and I really think that this information could help a lot of young gals. To know that a celebrity of Kristin's status has "been there" and survived leaving people behind who were bad for her, plus has become a huge celebrity on top of that... It shows that it can be done.
I found some of the intimate family photos to be forced looking, especially with Jay as I can't imagine guys are into that sort of thing. But I understand why the photos were included as we all want to see what their life looks like. We unfortunately don't get any views of their presumably adorable kids' faces but as a mom myself I can completely understand this omission.
Clothing wise she is a certified style diva, and I don't think anyone can disagree with that statement. I am not a hat person, nor ever will be, but she does a pretty good job of selling them. Has anyone noticed how many hats are on display at Coachella this year? Probably no doubt due in part to KC. She did offer plenty of tips for putting together basic outfits that are good for your body type, and to not worry about being stylish per se, but just looking good. Overall I found this section to be informative.
What I didn't care for were the diet and exercise sections. They just didn't bowl me over but I must say that might be because I would rather have heard more about her private life, biography style, than these two topics. I did appreciate her easy-to-read information on GMOs and bad ingredients as she shared some details that I previously did not know.
For the most part this book interested me, because I was a closet Kristin fan and because her life seems so charmed now. Getting a glimpse inside of it was pretty cool. And I feel like she is telling those who are more impressionable (younger) than me about ways of dealing with the crises and drama of your teens and early twenties in a very direct and understandable way. But I'm waiting for the autobiography!
