I like shifter stories as a genre, and this series promises to be one of the better ones out there. River is a very special woman...I really like the symbology of a white wolf. Even the characterizations of the males in the story are wonderfully complex with many levels of understanding.

Cliff hanger kept me from giving this book a higher rating. I will say that you can see the growth in the Hero. You see how he actually matures and from that I started to actually want to see what would happen next. This book was a joy to read and had me waiting to read the second book. When will it come out.

I found te world of sanctuary a little disturbing. Probably because I am a woman. Book one does not tell you everything about this strange people that exist in the world but hidden. It shows you enough to know that it is cruel and strange and unfair. I enjoy having my beliefs challenged. i enjoy being a little uncomfortable when I read, but I also tend to identify with the main female character which makes this an intriguing read.

I like the story idea, however what really happened? A werewolf story but no one ever changes. Very little actually happens throughout all these pages.
That being said, I love the strong characters that developed.
If you enjoy Patricia Briggs or Stephanie Meyers changes are you will like this series, however you better read the whole series.

I so enjoyed the previous books written by Charlotte Able that I had to read this one. The story is about a long lived group of people/shape shifters that live in secret, staying hidden from all "outsiders". The society itself has its own divisions but generally wants nothing to do with any modern day outsiders. River, the main character, is getting old enough for her first "shift" when she rescues Johnathan and brings him into her world. Johnathan is unaware of what or who River's people really are. He thinks she has been brainwashed by a cult and has visions of rescuing her until he learns the truth about who her people are. I don't want to spoil the story for others so I will stop here. If you enjoy YA fantasy that is fast paced, well written, not smutty, that will leave you waiting anxiously for the next book, this is the book (Author), for you.

I genuinely enjoyed this novel. It was unique and interesting. I've never read anything quite like it. With so many novels now falling into familiar patterns it's refreshing to read something different. I am intrigued and looking forward to reading more of the trilogy.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It is a paranormal romance with plenty of twists and turns. My only complaint was that it didn't really end. The story evidently continues in Abel's next book. That left me more pissed than intrigued. But I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment. Would definitely recommend this.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really liked this book. The author is know for Young Adult Paranormal Romance, which I think is great and my 17 yr. old daughter loves, but my interests lie more in Adult Paranormal Romance and Fiction. When I first started the book, I couldn't put it down, and immediately searched for the next book in the series. Unfortunately it was not released and I am forced to wait until it is out, but I am anxiously counting down to May 1st!!!

Charlotte Abel is a terrific story teller. I really enjoyed This book. It is a great story and a great adventure. It is definitely not your typical "shfter werewolf romance". The charactrs are all well developed and easy to like. You will definitely enjoy this book.

I love charlottes other series and when this book came out I did not even give it a second glance. After hearing very good things about it I decided to buy it and im so glad I did. It was amazing to say the least. Might be one of my favorite books of all time as of right now. The world charlotte creates is so unique and interesting to read about. The love story is perfect and I love how the plot run throughout the book. I cannot wait for the second book in this series to come out!!

After devouring the Channie series, I jumped on River's Recruit and it did not disappoint, except that it left me wanting more and there was nothing yet.. Looking forward to the next in the series and hoping it goes on for a very long time..

The whole story is incomplete. The characters, the story, the everything. I feel like I should ask for compensation for the time from my life I've wasted. 3 stars is generous, only because it has some potential.

Surprisingly enough, I really enjoyed this book. I didn't expect to, especially with all the romance, but unlike a lot of stuff out there these days it's not poorly-written cliche. Ok, some of the plot devices related to the shifters kinda made me face-palm (merge fever that can only be cured by mating? Seriously?), but there were downsides to everything and the author seemed to have seriously thought most of it out. It's nice to see a new, original take on the werewolf thing and this is a neat one.

The main reason this only gets two stars is the ending. I don't know what it is with authors these days and cliffhanger endings. Remember when every book in a series was actually a story, complete with a resolution? Well, this is one of the new 'nothing is resolved and it basically ends in the middle of a sentence' variety. I can't stand that, and I think it's an insult to your readers. If you really think the only way to get us to come back is a cliffhanger with no resolution, either you have no respect for us or no faith in your own writing. I knocked off an entire star for that, and won't be picking up the next book in the series purely because of how irritated I was by the ending of this one

I enjoyed the book. My biggest complaint is how abruptly it ended. The different characters were interesting as was the idea of a New Eden. Sometimes it felt more like a cult of people living deep in the woods rather than shifters. Wild wolves were walking around more frequently than shifters.

Excellent book! I downloaded this book for free and couldn't put it down! I wish when they offer free books that are part of a series, that they would also give the remaining books within that series for free too, or at least offer them for .99 each. It was still an enjoyable book.

This was interesting and thought provoking tale. I wonder how the humans and wolves are going to merge. It doesn't seem as if it will happen like the werewolf legion in this world. I wonder what will happen next.
