Oh how I hate when a book comes to the end and especially one as good as this one was....I love Vlad and Leila's story and find it punishing to have to wait for the rest!! I honestly have not read a story that I haven't enjoyed from this author...she is without a doubt, one of my favorites. If you have not read any thing from Ms. Frost do yourself a huge favor and get one of her books, I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

I am never sure when I read a third book in a series if I will like it or not. Sometimes the characters that I have fallen in love with loose pats of themselves after the first few books or they become tedious because of their lack of growth. However, this this addition really added to the overall story with a clean feeling at the end and a possible opening for more. The characters stayed true to themselves while growing and they didn't have to become overpowered or radically different to do it.

Like the other books in this series, this one did not disappoint!!! I loved it!! Love the characters, love their interaction! Loved seeing old friends from other books!! and I LOVE VLAD!! There are some dark parts of the book, but they were handled well. I cannot wait until 2016 for the next book! Jeaniene Frost is on my automatic buy list both Book and Audible book!! I highly recommend all of her books!!
Moonshadow (Moonshadow Book 1) :: How to Claim an Undead Soul (The Beginner's Guide to Necromancy Book 2) :: Outtakes From The Grave (Night Huntress) (Volume 8) :: At Grave's End :: Taming the Vampire (Blood and Absinthe Book 1)

The writing continues to be great and the plot is explosive. The torture scenes aren't for the squeamish but these are barbarians from a barbaric time. I hope there's another in the series. If you liked this, you'll love the Cat and Bones series. Jeaniene Frost is a great talent. I want to thank her for introducing these characters to the world. The books are so good that I reread them.

Ok so first off this book did get darker but not something that will make you want to stop reading. I love Vlad and Leila as a couple. This book keeps throwing you curveballs so I'm warning you now. So glad we get to visit Bones, Cat and Mencheres. This book will make your jaw drop, laugh and mad as all get out! So glad this isn't the last book like we thought. I don't want it to end EVER! They need to ditch that crap Fifty Shades and makes the whole series into movies. 5 stars again to this wonderful book!

Contemporary paranormal with sex. #3 in the series. Better to read the first 2 books so you know what's going on.
Well, this is a great installment to the series. Much better than #2, which was OK. This one just knocks it out of the ball park. Leila endures a lot in this one & Vlad just keeps getting better in every book.
The cover's drool worthy!

This should be the last book of the trilogy, but Amen to Jeaniene whon decided to write one more!!!
Engaging story, Vlad is increasingly exciting - and passionate - a lot of battle, secrets revealed and an enemy that can destroy what Vlad loves most in life.
Waiting for the next because this final will be over exciting!

Riveting! I usually start getting bored with series, even on authors I love, due to having to repeat so much information. That hasn't happened with this series. Characters continue to develope. I absolutely loved every book in this series and would recommend this author to anyone who likes hot (pun intended) paranormal romance.

I love this series. It is a great read and isn't just a run of the mill romance story. Her writing reveals the depth of her characters and although there's a happy ending in each of these books, you appreciate the struggle that it took to get there. I highly recommend, but start from the beginning if you're new to the series.

I have always been a fan of Jeaniene Frost and her Night Huntress/Night Prince world. This book was an excellent end to the Night Prince story line. While some parts were difficult to read, the story pulled you in and made those scenes worth it. I really loved Leila in this story and how they both grew throughout the story, while remaining true to their core selves. Fantastic book!

Rarely am I disappointed by her writing and this is no exception. I absolutely adore the way she takes chances and writes scenes that have the potential to be cliché or contrived, but never are. I also love that she avoids useless relationship angst and instead uses those opportunities to unite our couple.
5 stars. Highly recommend this series, which in my opinion, is better than Cat and Bones.

I loved this ending! I waited what seemed like forever for the end of Vlad and Leila's story and JF did not disappoint. Although, I am sad that this is the end, I am satisfied with the end (of course, if JF decides to write more, I am all in...simply love Vlad).

I am a huge fan of both this series and The Night Huntress. I could not put this book down. So much happens but it was written so wonderfully it flowed without seeming overwhelming. I loved getting to read about old characters. And having Leila and her family starting to work past issues was a wonderful addition. Looking forward to the next book.

Just finished the 3rd book featuring Leila and Vlad. I never thought I'd like it but Jeaniene Frost has converted me. It's romance and suspense with unexpected twists. Can't wait until 2016 to see what our band of humans and vampires have to tackle next.

Filled with nonstop action, old friends & older enemies, Vlad & Leila's love story continues. I laughed, cringed, cheered & cried. Can't wait until number 4! Best modern version of Vlad I've ever read and I've read many. Thank you, Jeaniene Frost!

I love this series by Jeaniene Frost I was just a little disappointed in this book. This author is a fabulous author, it's just after waiting so long for this third book I felt disappointed while reading it, it felt "thrown " together. Disappointed.

Loved it! I Was happy to see that this won't be the last book in the series. Hopefully Cat and Bones will make appearances, since the Night Huntress series is complete (for now....). Glad to see the growth in Vlad & Laila's relationship and the all consuming Love they for eachother.

It was so worth the wait. I just can't believe that I have to wait till 2016 for the conclusion. I know it's not going to be a disappointment. I just hope she will keep the stories going with some of the other characters.

What a disappointment after eagerly awaiting this installment of Vlad and Leila. Gone was the lighthearted banter and tension. I didn't care for the prolonged torture/almost rape of Leila. I skimmed over most of those chapters, which seemed to be the first 1/4 of the book. Different characters popped in for a moment: Marty, Cat, Bones..Maxiumus. Maximus agrees to help Vlad with his plan but basically you have the agreement, a little interaction with Leila and then a scene at the end. A long drawn out, dreary chase to eliminate Mickael...( however you spell his name- ) boring. More like reading an shoot 'em up, blow everything up movie script.

I really wanted to live this book, truly I did, I even preordered this book months ago. Unfortunately it was just painful to read. This book did not flow as well as most of 's Frost's other books and it just didn't enjoy it. Maybe the issue is this is the THIRD book in the series and there is still not a resolution to the series. If you love Jeaniene Frost go ahead and take the risk to buy it, if this is a causal purchase you should pass.

I was not to happy with this book. I gave up on the book.
Spoiler alert: he doesn't end up with the woman who believed him but ends up with someone he loved before and abused that love. I gave up reading it midway, Sad.

Ah Jeaniene Frost, it’s been so long since I have read one these books that I almost forgot what I was missing! This third Night Prince book is every bit as good as the first two. It’s got amazing angst and action and romance… and gets darker than any book I’ve read from this author. Yes, I remember that time Bones died and I sobbed like a baby; but this is heartbreaking in a different way and it took me to places I didn’t expect Frost to go.
In case you need a refresher, as the story begins, Vlad and Leila are now married, she’s a vampire, and they are still hunting Vlad’s archenemy Szilagyi. The story follows our couple as they try to navigate their relationship and their life-and-death feud. Both arcs are very powerful.
On the romance front, I am just blown away by how much Vlad loves Leila. It’s easy to see his heavy-handedness and arrogance, but what is being revealed more and more is the vulnerability behind all of that. Love is chink in his armor that he never wanted to deal with again, but now that it’s here and it’s real, he puts everything he has into protecting his wife in order to protect himself. As Vlad reveals himself to Leila with admissions about himself and his past, we the readers are seeing his soft underbelly. He could be so easily destroyed through her. And he almost is.
I don’t want to give too much away. The shocking events of the war with Szilagyi are part of the roller coaster this book will take you on. Some parts are very hard to read. The events are told through Leila’s POV and while Vlad’s reactions were powerful, Leila’s were even more so. Not just the events themselves, but how she reacts, responds, and internalizes them. It’s some compelling stuff.
If you’re wondering about Cat & Bones, they do make an appearance. Some other supporting characters we know and love show up too. Frost does a good job aggregating storylines and relevant developments from the Night Huntress series to interlace with what’s happening here. But as much stuff is happening (and a lot is happening,) it’s emotion that rules this book. It is, after all, a romance. And through it all, I felt closer to Vlad and Leila than ever before.
I can’t wait for the last installment. If it’s anywhere near as good as this one, it will kick butt.

Leila knew marring one of the most powerful and famous vampires of all would be challenging. She loves Vlad more than anything but his attempts to keep her safe are smothering her and causing a rift between them. With Vlad’s greatest enemy out to destroy him, it’s more important than ever they work as a team or risk losing each other forever.
I’m a big fan of Leila and believe she only gets better. She has a lot to juggle with her recently becoming a vampire and wife, aiding in the search for Szilagyi, fine-tuning her powers, and dealing with her family’s distress of having to uproot their lives in go into hiding. She’s not perfect, there are bumps and missteps along the way yet with minimal complaining, she puts her heart, mind, and determination into everything she does and it’s all very impressive.
Leila also shines in her relationship. Vlad is, well, Vlad. His barbaric yet effective rule and mastery of fire strikes fear into even the most formidable vampires. His commanding presence radiates off the pages but doesn’t overshadow Leila and I love it. She is everything to him and in this book it leads to him making decisions that causes more harm than good and puts strain on their relationship. Rather than giving into his demands or leaving out of frustration, Leila meets Vlad head on and uses all her tricks to get it into his stubborn head she won’t be hidden away or handicapped for her own safety. Knowing when to push and when to concede takes a certain kind of finesse that I’m really enjoying watching her come to master.
No matter the arguments, Leila and Vlad’s love is undeniable and burns deliciously hot. When they come together it’s more than just hot sex (which it totally is). Each intimate scene reaffirms their love no matter how angry they are at other and makes their soul deep connection stronger. The romance between Vlad and Leila is my absolute favorite from any of Jeaniene Frost’s couple and why is excellently displayed in this book.
Vlad’s hunt for his oldest enemy continues and what occurs during the search adds a darker element to the book when compared to previous installments. Szilagyi’s depravity is on display and reaches out to hurt Leila and Vlad in a vile way. I have a new hate for the male. There are scenes that toe the line of being uncomfortable to read yet Frost’s way with words and strength of her characters kept the book in my hands on my eyes on the page. The blood thirsty side of me would have liked a more epic showdown between Szilagyi and Vlad but what I got was still oh so satisfying.
Bound by Flames doesn’t mark the end of Vlad and Leila’s battle. This epic pairing are far from safe and I can’t wait to see what Frost has in store for the final leg of their journey.

Painfully neutral are the words I'd use to describe my feelings for this book. How unfortunate because I was looking forward to this releasing. I can say one thing: I LOVE that cover.
Leila is as kick a** as ever. She's actually one of the things I liked about this book. She finds a way to survive torture (for the second time) and defeat the enemy, all the while keeping her boyfriend happy.
Speaking of Dracula....oh I'm sorry Vlad Dracul. He's gotten too domineering and over baring. Leila had to suffer another (third) round of torture because he was trying to protect her in a mansion everyone knew was his and that she was staying there. There was absolutely NO CHANCE, not even 0.1% that the enemy would attack, right? RIGHT?
Also what does Leila's family do for the plot/storyline? My guess: add drama. Other then a few smart remarks from Gretchen there was barely any character development whatsoever. Which was disappointing because I wanted to see if her father would finally understand what happened as a necessity and accept it as a fact of life.
Final thoughts: I will probably end up buying the next book (last?) because of the awesome cover I already envision it having, but I'm not sure I care enough about the character's at this point to actually summon up some reaction to the mild cliffhanger.
My Favorite Quotes:
"Playing dead worked when confronted with an angry grizzly, but Vlad was more like a dragon. You either fought back or you got your ass burned off while you ran away."
"The nine pounds Gretchen had gained must've come from her new brass balls."
"Because love cuts deeper than the sharpest blade, cripples more than shattered bones, and leaves scars that can never fade."

lthough, I really enjoyed Bound by Flames, it didn't seem to grab me as much as the previous books in the series did. I'm not saying that it was bad, it was just that I liked her other stories a little more. It took me a little awhile to really get into this book, but by the time I reached the halfway point, I was totally hooked and couldn't put it down.
Bound by Flames was filled with all of the good humor and fun dialogue that I have come to expect from Frost's books. This was a tad darker than her other books, but it was believable considering what happened. There were some twists and surprises, as well.
I think I was just a little disappointed in Vlad, overall. One of the things that attracted me to his character (in the very beginning), was his sense of loyalty and commitment to the people in his line. While I understand his love for for Leila, it seemed like he was very quick to disregard everyone else he loved and who had depended on him for centuries. It was as if they did not matter, and that did not sit right with me. Not to mention, I did not like how he treated two of his good friends. It just seemed a little uncharacteristic. This is a guy who loves his power and authority. Don't worry, though, he is still one of my favorite MC's. ;)
On the other hand, I really grew to like Leila in this story. I found myself rooting for her and hoping she didn't do anything impulsive. She showed so much strength, perseverance, and bravery.
I am so happy that there is another book in this series, as there are a couple of things that I am hoping will get resolved. I cannot wait until Into the Fire gets released this year!

While I'm always eager to open up a new Jeaniene Frost, BOUND BY FLAMES just didn't do it for me as much as previous installments of the Night Prince series or the Night Huntress series did. Part of this had to do with some of the content of the book, but part of it also was that this book felt very much like a middle of a series book. It dragged a little and though part of the conflict was resolved by the end of the book, some of it was left with a big giant cliff-hanger that didn't feel necessary.
I ran into a few issues with BOUND BY FLAMES. Frost's vampires are and always have been brutal, and she doesn't shy away from that fact. However, I feel like this is usually tempered with the most violent moments happening "off-screen" as it were, not in front of the reader. In BOUND BY FLAMES, that is not the case. One of the characters is violently tortured very close to the beginning of the book, and while I understand the purpose for it, it doesn't mean that I like it. And while Frost doesn't go into too much detail, there was some that I could have done without. Also, since I read this series for the interplay between Vlad and Leila, the fact that they're at odds for large portions of the book, or apart from one another, made it difficult to get through. I really wish there had been more screen-time with the two of them.
However, despite my complaints, the sexy scenes were just as hot I would expect, and the action and drama had me constantly wondering what would happen next. Though some parts felt a little slow to me, the mystery was engaging and I kept reading. I also appreciated the glimpses of Cat and Bones as well as Menchares, as it kept the connection to the rest of the Night Huntress world alive.
All in all, I was slightly disappointed with this installment in the Night Prince series. It didn't quite live up to my expectations. I'm hoping for a better time next time around, since Frost has announced that there will be a fourth in the Night Prince series!

I’m not quite sure where to start. But let me tell you one thing…. Jeaniene Frost still got it! BOUND BY FLAMES blew me away, kept me riveted and kept my adrenaline pumping. This book lives up to every expectation I didn’t even know I had. Yeah, it’s that good. Vlad is back with a vengeance! This is the Vlad I fell in love with in the Night Huntress series. Ruthless, possessive, exasperating, pure dominant alpha male. Did I mention Vlad tended toward the brutal side of archaic? I think there will be a lot of Vlad gushing in this review, so excuse me from now.
I don’t want to give too much away from the story. Just know that Vlad is still fighting his number one enemy. And this is a big sneaky one! As far as bad guys go, Ms. Frost gives Vlad a run for his money with this guy. Definitely a worthy opponent and one that really kept me on my toes and kept shocking me! Making this such an action packed story.
Leila, let’s talk about her. She’s more and more like Cat for me. She’s growing, she’s learning, she’s tough, and she will fight tooth and nail for her love and her relationship. She will endure anything she must. And she will survive. Go girl power in this book, Leila rocks it! And just as Leila rocks it, Vlad is so intense and overbearing that it’s everything I’ve always known him to be! Oh, but if he was real I would stab him in his sleep. But this is top book boyfriend material, not just for now, but forever. Vlad has secured a permanent spot in my list of favorite heroes ever.
utc-top-pickThis book is not as hot as some might have expected after such infamous scenes that Ms. Frost has written. But every sex scene is so strategically placed and carries just the perfect emotion needed during that moment in the story! What a great job with that! And when I say not as hot, I don’t mean it’s dull. Vlad knows how to rock a girls world and he definitely does that and then some. Have I mentioned how much I need to change my name to Leila? Leila Dracula that is. ;)
For the Night Huntress series fans out there, Cat is in this one! Beware that there is a huge spoiler if you haven’t read the last book in the Night Huntress series! But Cat gets the job done here as well. And some of our favorites from that series make a cameo in this one too, like Marie Laveau.
BOUND BY FLAMES is a pulse-pounding, electric and combustible ride! This series just gets better! This book is SAVAGE, that is probably the best way to describe it. I loved every single minute of it. If you’re not reading this now, you’re missing out. If you haven’t read this series yet, you’re missing out. I can’t wait for more!

Vlad Tepesh is now married...ya. He married the awesome Leila Dalton, the chick with the cool electric touch thing, and now she's a vampire also. Double wow. So what does a power couple like that do in their spare time? Why they go undercover, using Lelia's psychometry on their enemies. Until Vlad's greatest nemesis comes back to finish what he started two books ago...dun dun dun!
So it's been a while since I listened to Once Burned and Twice Tempted, but I do remember how intense Vlad and Leila's relationship was, or is. The theme that I've started noticing with vampire relationships like this, ones where the male is the one that turns his mate, and he's been a vampire for a millennia, blah blah blah... and we have a dangerous enemy after us is this; the chick becomes extremely whinny and needy. It gets really annoying, real fast. Yes, the relationship is new in comparison to how old Vlad has lived, HOWEVER if she can believe, accept, and integrate herself into his world, then this means she not only understands what the heck is up, but she also has accepted the situation for what it is and accepted Vlad in all his old fashioned ways and glory as well. With that being said, I rather enjoyed the story line, but did not care for Leila's foot stomping toddler tantrums about how Vlad wouldn't allow her to help and just wanted to sock her away and protect her, or her annoying ass sister and ungrateful father. The plot I should have seen coming, and it's simplicity, gave the ending a rather anticlimactic feeling that left me unsatisfied.
I really do love this author, and her Night Huntress series, so I don't take saying these words lightly but Bound by Flames was just “ok” for me. I was really disappointed, but I will continue this journey and grab the next new book Into The Fire when it is released in hopes of some redemption for this series.
Narrator Review
Tavia Gilbert has been narrating this series as well as the Night Huntress series for Frost from the beginning. I love Tavia's acting of the books. She does such a great job and really gets into character! You will never be disappointed in the quality of a book or entertainment value if Gilbert is the narrator!

This is the third book in a four book series. Once Burned is the first book in The Night Prince series. These books do need to be read in order.
In my previous blog entries about this series, I have had a hard time swallowing Leila, as a real character. What I mean as real is could I actually see this person as being in the real world. For two books she felt fake, at times annoying, and not in the way that made her real to me.
I guess, third time is the charm. I like Leila now, she grew from one dimensional to three. Why did it take so long? I have never had a problem not liking a character, like I have with Leila.
This book takes place a few months or so since Leila had become a vampire. She and Vlad, have been on the hunt for an enemy from his past, that is out to end Vlad once and for all.
This book has several twists and turns, and a whopper of an ending, that made this once planned trilogy become four books.
I really enjoyed this book, more so than the first two but that had to do with Leila.
This series is connected to The Night Huntress series and world. It can be read alone, but certain characters and plot parts make a bit more sense if you read the Night Huntress Series. If interested, the first book is halfway to the grave.

3.5 to 4 Stars... The first half of this book felt like a regurgitation of the first two books in the series... With similar themes and structure it didn’t seem that the characters or storyline were shifting or moving forward; it left me feeling somewhat bored and disappointed... However, the second half of the story gained momentum and both Vlad and Leila, as individual characters as well as a couple, began to evolve allowing their connection to deepen and become more meaningful ... In addition, the storyline seemed to focus on them as formidable partners trusting and accepting one another in order to overcome their enemies... My attention and focus definitely strengthened in the second half of the story... looking forward to the finale of the series:)

I am officially done with all of the currently published Night Huntress Universe books and I really do not know what to do. When I finished the original series I was distraught, but at least I had the spin offs to look forward to, but now I’m done with those too and I have to wait like the rest of the world to read the next book and I’m so so so sad. Over these past few months I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to these books and now that I don’t have any more to look forward to I'm bummed.
Vlad stepped up his game in this one. Dayumm he is so hot and dangerous and I loved it. I also loved how far he came over the course of this book. I also really admire Leila. That woman is tough as nails and what she endures is gut wrenching, but I admire the way she made it through. Although I was kinda bummed she got captured yet again. I mean, I get it, Vlad has enemies, but we don’t need to have her get caught every book. I really hope this is the last of that kind of plot line.
I’m really beginning to love Vlad and Leila as a couple, especially because we get to see them working together in this one. I love how strong they’ve gotten together. I also like that their stories really do stand on their own. The cameos from other characters are few and far between and I think that says a lot about them. Sure we get to see a certain red head again, but it is super super brief and honestly that scene made me more mad at Vlad then anything. Teresa was not amused that her babies who had their HEA were being pulled out of safety. But anyway. Like I said. Not their story.
What surprised me about Bound By Flames was how dark this book was. I mean none of these books have ever been rainbows and butterflies, but this one felt especially dark. Some of the scenes in this book made me feel physically sick. It was just bad and dark.
All in all, Bound By Flames was a great read and I truly cannot wait for Vlad and Leila’s next book. Not sure what I’ll do until then, but I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

Third in the Night Prince urban fantasy series (a spin-off from Frost’s Night Huntress series) and revolving around Vlad the Impaler and his new bride, Leila.
My Take
Whew, this is such an improvement over Twice Tempted , 2. Yeah, there’s a bit of melodrama and a whole LOT of torture. Just nasty. Fortunately, Frost doesn’t delve too deep into that one. Although the tell of it doesn't bring the full horror home.
I do have to laugh at Leila’s frustration with Vlad. It’s an interesting clash between modern woman and medieval warrior. Marty does wonder if Leila understands that Vlad has been ruthless and overpowering for centuries. Not habits one changes overnight, which makes it rather fun to watch. On the other hand, it was rather annoying that Frost didn’t make it more of a battle between them. And then again, it was lovely to have an intelligent character who could understand when Vlad’s actions were the best plan of action. I know, I know, I should make up my mind.
It’s his own experiences with being tortured and raped that enable Vlad to know the lengths to which a prisoner will go to survive.
I can definitely see why Marty wouldn’t want to go up against Vlad. The things he does to the people who do betray him…*shudder*… There is something to be said for not reacting at the drop of a hat. Maximus had been loyal to Vlad for over 500 years and then was kicked out for one series of lies. Okay, that is bad, but exile…? Then Maximus drops that one statement on Leila, and I can so understand why I’m terrified.
I cannot believe the reasons why Szilagyi hates Vlad so much. How incredibly petty!
Oh, man! ROFL, Vlad tells Leila his greatest secret…you will LYAO too.
The Story
Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn’t like Vlad to feel fear, but he does…for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad’s greatest weakness.
It's the depth of Szilagyi's treachery that is so shocking, as friend and foe alike align against him — and his overprotectiveness drives Leila mad — Vlad’s love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both…and Leila's love for Vlad may be their survival.
The Characters
Leila Dalton Dracul, once known as the Fantastic Frankie ( Once Burned ), 1, is tied in a human marriage to Vlad. She has psychometric abilities which makes her the best lie detector on the planet. Due to a tragic accident when she was 13, she also carries quite the electrical charge. Vlad “the Impaler” Basarab Dracul is 600 years older than Leila and madly in love with her. Clara had been Vlad’s wife back when he was still human. Hugh Dalton, a retired lieutenant colonel, is Leila’s disapproving father; Gretchen is her sister. Marty, a dwarf vampire, is more of a father to Leila than her own.
Samir is the new head of Vlad’s guards who include Christian, Petre, Alexandru, and Dorian. Claude and Erin are Vlad’s pilots. Sandra is one of the human blood donors at the castle and Leila’s friend. Darryl Meadows is on death row. Bernstein is the wrong cop. Phillips is a murdering guard at the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
The Night Huntress characters include…
…Mencheres (whom Vlad sees as his honorary sire) and Kira and Bones and Cat whose grave power will come in very handy. Katie is their daughter. Vlad offers a powerful gift for Cat's help. Tate and Cat’s mom are living with Cat and Bones. Fabian is Cat’s ghost friend.
Marie Laveau is voodoo queen of the revenants.
Mihaly Szilagyi, uncle to the then Hungarian king, is Vlad’s oldest enemy and his father-in-law. Maximus had been Vlad’s oldest friend until he betrayed him in Once Burned . Harold is Szilagyi’s torturer. I’d like to see him tortured to death. By Vlad. No wait…imprisonment would be far worse. Cynthiana, the vampire for whom Shrapnel betrayed Vlad, is also Vlad’s former girlfriend. She killed Leila in Twice Tempted . Ilona was Vlad’s second wife, a woman already pregnant, and Szilagyi’s daughter. Radu is Vlad’s brother, and his son, Mircea, hates his stepfather.
The “Joker” and “Khal Drogo” are some of eastern Europe’s big bads. Tenoch was Vlad and Szilagyi’s sire. Remnants feed on energy and pain, not even a vampire is a match for them. The Law of Guardians outlawed the use of magic.
The Cover and Title
The cover is deep mint green and fluorescent orange (it really makes the title and author’s name stand out!) A bare-chested Vlad stands at an angle, his head turned to the left but those eyes glaring at us, his hair blowing behind him. This man, this vampire, is ready to flame out against a background of wisps and bare branches.
The title is Leila and Vlad, Bound by Flames, even as their enemies too find themselves in that embrace.

Co-Review with Christina from Booksane
Was there anything that stood out with the storyline to you?
Christina: I thought it was so good! After the previous book I was really scared about it being another not so great book, but seemed like it was just a fluke and this book really measured up with the others. Storyline was so great, not one dull moment! Loved how the story evolved and the turns it took.
Have to add this because I saw it as the first good sign to me, previous book I used the joker’s image with “Why so serious?” and early on in the book, Vlad kills one dressed as the joker all while with a smile on his face. I liked that, almost as if he was getting rid of that Vlad from the previous book and getting back to his old self.
Stephanie: Well, it was a whole lot better than the previous book, Twice Tempted. I don't know what it was about that book but I really was disappointed with it and especially with Vlad. He was so lame. But this book? It was fantastic and the Vlad I know and love is back, baby!
What are your thoughts on Leila and Vlad in the book?
Christina: First off, phew! Vlad in the previous book really pissed me off. He was so grumpy and not at all fun, but luckily in this one he came back- Vlad smiling when he’s killing someone who annoys him then everything is right. Leila continues to surprise me, the things she had to go through, don’t know how she did it.
Thought that their relationship really evolved in this, Vlad realized that he can’t shield her from everything, even though he’ll try, but he also came to terms with having her with him because she
can actually help fight his enemies. Also helped make Vlad “good” again and not the grumpy Dracula from before.
Stephanie: LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! I must admit I was never a big fan of Leila. I liked her but in the two other books I never really liked her much as a main character but this book was so good that I can say that I actually do love her. Everything she goes through - WOW! And Vlad, he was just fantastic. In this book he was (unlike the previous one) the Vlad I know and love from the Night Huntress books. And together they're just one badass power couple!
What was the best moment of a secondary character?
Christina: Hard one. Marie was there and she’s always so fun and evil and this was no exception. Cat and Bones were there, shortly but they were there, just have to mention that and loved that the usual “hate” from Bones towards Vlad was there, “Why the bloody hell did you bring him here?”. However Maximus… Honestly at times, just like Vlad and Leila, I wasn’t really sure what side he was on or what he was gonna do. A lot because of the end and the moment him and Vlad has which were so cute and just wanted to tell them to kiss and get it over with. Besides that then this: “Twelve guys, no women, and they’re not allowed to leave?” Maximus’s snort was scornful. “Someone’s got lube.”
Stephanie: Marie a.k.a. Majestic, the vodoo queen of New Orleans. I knew right away when Vlad and Leila were in New Orleans that they were going to visit Marie. I've always loved her character in the Night Huntress series and I loved the little showdown between her and Vlad. It was awesome!
What's your favorite quote of the book?
Christina: “Now that we’ve compared the equivalent of our supernatural dicks, why don’t you answer my question?” Vlad said, tone as cold as the fire had been hot.
Stephanie: I'm gonna cheat and pick two quotes. One from Leila and one from Vlad
Leila - “Compromise Lesson One: Pull a dick move, and your dick gets denied. Every woman knew that, and now, so did the vampire sitting next to me.”
Vlad - “You aren’t just my weakness, Leila.” Vlad drew me next to him, one hand sliding along my jaw while the other caressed my back. “You are my destruction, because if I were to lose you, it would finish me.”
What were your thoughts on the ending?
Christina: Just for the fun of it, I’ll have it like there’s two ends, because there’s the end to what’s going on in the book and what they’re working towards and then there’s the end end which is just a few pages of calm after everything.
The end brought us a surprise that basically has you thinking, well guess it isn’t over yet then, actually surprised me how it all turned out and now just eagerly waiting for the next book.
The end end is epic! Funniest thing ever and a huuuge surprise.
Stephanie: My thoughts were literally like, LOL! People who have read the book will know why.
What are your overall thoughts?
Christina: Overall I loved the book. Vlad was back, Leila continues to be awesome, storyline amazing and as always Frost’s writing is the best. I were hoping for it to be good of course, yet scared it was gonna continue like the last and end up maybe being worse maybe, but happy to say that it wasn’t and that was really a big relief. So after finishing all I could think was phew and awesome.
Stephanie: What more can I say than I loved Bound by Flames. Jeaniene Frost really did a good job with this one. Especially since I didn't have much high expectations considering I didn't like the previous book. But everything from the characters to the writing to the plot to the steamy scenes were fantastic. Bring on the next book I say!

rob duford
The previous two books in the series were a bit of a let down considering how much I liked Vlad in the Night Huntress series. The third book gives us more of an understanding and connection to Vlad as well as more history on his past. In that way, this was my favorite of the spin-off series. I'm still perplexed at the relationship with Cat and Vlad, and this one brought that up again with her cameo. There were 2-3 books that really seemed to have them as good friends, then later it always plays out as if they're associates without a true friendship. It doesn't affect the stories, but it diminishes that emotional connection with Vlad I originally and makes him colder. That said, I did like seeing the connection between Vlad and Maximus this time. Oddly I struggled with Leila and the plot a little more this time. We've seemed to run into a bit of a loop with her abductions, the "hateful inner voice", and the over protective power struggle with Vlad. Those plot points are getting old and I found myself rolling my eyes at times. I liked that Vlad and Leila worked together more this time, but it still never reached the exciting, fun, and romantic level Cat and Bones achieved. Oddly, I could never get enough of them, but after three books with Vlad his story feels overstretched.

This is the third book in the Night Prince series, an offshoot from the Night Huntress series that features Vlad and Leila. There were so many things wrong with this book. Additionally, although this story wraps up the Szilagyi storyline, it starts a whole new storyline. So, this is definitely not the last book in the series.
I listened to this on audiobook and the narrator gives Leila a somewhat shrill voice (which is nothing compared to the voice she gives Leila's sister...whenever her sister Gretchen talks my ears actually hurt). This didn’t add to my enjoyment of this book. A lot of the Romanian males also sound very similar as well. This is the same narrator that did the Night Huntress novels, but in this book she just isn’t as good.
Leila and her family are still in hiding from Vlad’s greatest enemy, Szilagyi. Until they can finally hunt Szilagyi down and destroy him none of them will be safe.
Yep, the above is about the extent of this storyline, not much more to it than that. Oh wait, I should mention that Leila gets kidnapped...again. Is anyone surprised?
Although I have always enjoyed Vlad as a character, I have really never liked Leila. She just seems so overly dramatic, whiny, incredibly ditsy and annoying (her electricity power is cool though).
I was happy to see that Vlad and Leila do grow in their relationship some. However, I did feel like Vlad was a domineering jerk still and that Leila was way too accepting. Also Leila’s angst over her actions while she was held captive (yes she is kidnapped yet again because that is the only storyline that works for this series I guess) was absolutely ridiculous.
I had huge issues with things like the one I mentioned in my update on Goodreads. For example potential rape is portrayed as being more devastating than actually being skinned alive. I agree rape is awful...even being threatened with rape is awful, but being skinned alive will kill you (okay maybe not if you are a vampire)...but as far as torture goes I feel like they are kind of on different scales. I also had problems with a scene involving Leila, Maximus, and duct tape; way too much time was spent on this scene, there is just too much detail, and I just didn't care all that much...seriously this was like a 40 minute scene in the audiobook.
All in all I thought most of this book was more campy than interesting or engaging. Some of the scenes are just so over the top. The dialogue between the characters also came off as awkward, stilted, and just plain ridiculous at times.
Overall this was an awful book. I understand I am in the minority here...but come on...nothing about this book was good. The storyline was similar to all the other storylines in this series, the characters were annoying, and the plot pretty much wasn’t there. To be fair I didn't really like the second book in this series either. I just read this one because it was supposed to wrap up the series...which it did not do. I definitely won't be reading any more books in this series. I would personally recommend skipping the whole Night Prince series. The Night Huntress series was great, the Night Prince series was a great idea that has been poorly executed.

REVIEWED BY LIZ (originally posted on Kindles & Wine Book Blog)
This entire series follows the relationship of Vlad and Leila, and even though BOUND BY FLAMES isn’t Book 1, I figured the best way to get everyone to read the series was to tease you with THIS book! ☺
Vlad is not the kind of guy to talk about his emotions. In a lot of ways, he’s not even the kind of guy to show emotions either. Luckily, Leila knows how he’s feeling without him having to tell or show her – she feels his emotions and they are crazy strong! The fact that he gives almost nothing away is what I’ve loved (and sometimes hated) most about Vlad in this book and the entire Night Prince series. At times he seems cold and remote and heartless, but he actually has everything roiling under the surface, invisible to most. He can seem like a bastard, but he’s capable of amazingly intense emotions, and when one of those emotions is love or passion? Look out! Because someone could get burned – literally AND figuratively! For the uninitiated, Vlad is a super-old master vampire, and he has total control over fire. He can cover his whole body in flames. He can send fire across a room. He can burn anyone or anything. It’s scary and it’s really cool. Does it make me crazy that I think it’s also really freaking hot? ☺
A lot of the things I like about Leila revolve around Vlad. I’m not saying that I don’t like Leila or that she doesn’t have a personality – Vlad is just so larger-than-life that he overshadows most everyone around him. Having said that, I really DO like Leila. Her childhood was tough, and she had a rocky start with Vlad in Books 1 and 2. It still isn’t easy between them in this story, but she’s never lost who she was. In fact, I think she’s figured out her true self over the course of this series. I feel like Leila is a great heroine because she’s a fairly normal person who has had some extraordinary things happen to her, and she’s dealt with them in a relatable way – sometimes calmly and rationally, sometimes with ranting and panicking. She also knows to pick her battles, particularly with Vlad. There are certain arguments that a woman is just not going to win with a centuries-old vampire who got his nickname, “Vlad the Impaler,” the old-fashioned way – by impaling people! LOL! I loved that Leila realizes this and saves her fight for the things that truly matter to her. That wisdom goes all the way back to Book 1 and continues here.
I love this entire series because of how badass Vlad is and how Leila figures out how to hold her own against such a force of nature. They’re so hot together (pardon the pun), which is really saying something since this book (and the previous books) aren’t heavy on the Sexy Time.
Most of the action in this story focuses on Vlad and Leila’s attempts to find the main bad guy. I don’t want to say too much about who or what he is because lots of things about him are surprises in Books 1 and 2. Let me just say that it DOES go back to Book 1, so readers who want to jump into this story here will miss out on why the bad guy is such a jerk-face.
And speaking of surprises, this author has said all along that Night Prince was only going to be a trilogy. Since I seriously love Vlad, I was disappointed that I’d only get 3 books devoted to him. But now, it looks like another one might come along. I have no idea what it’ll be about. All I know for sure is that, yet again, I cannot WAIT for it!
BOTTOM LINE:
Plenty of action and some suspense had me on the edge of my seat for a good chunk of BOUND BY FLAMES. A powerful, sexy hero and a heroine who doesn’t let herself be pushed around had me loving this story! Fans of this series won’t be disappointed. Readers new to Night Prince would be best served starting at the beginning with Once Burned: A Night Prince Novel rather than here.

SO earlier this week, I reviewed Twice Tempted and I talked briefly about why I didn't love that one. Bound by Flames is floatin in the same boat. Yet, it was a HUGE improvement as well.
Leila has done some maturing and is really starting to grow on me. She was put through the ringer in Bound by Flames, and I hate to say it, but she needed it. She didn't deserve ANYTHING that happened to her, so chill. But I think she really needed her eyes opened to what Vlad has been trying to protect her from and to grasp what being with Vlad, and in this world, means for her. I see a lot of similarities to Leila and Cat - both head strong, stubborn and naive to a point.
Vlad is back ya'll. What I missed about his fierce, violet personality in Twice Tempted came back, 10 fold. He did make a few stupid mistakes that resulted in a horrifying situation with Leila, but that is just his personality. It's what we expect from Vlad, ya know? I also find it fascinating that after all these years, he is still learning about his abilities. I have no idea why - but it's fascinating.
Ironic enough, the scenes with these two together were the highlight of this installment for me. They have finally find their balance in their relationship and I was so happy to see them working together, for once. Their smexy time scenes aren't as HOT as before, but that's okay. I can do without all that.
I also love how we see more of the other characters from the other novels as well. Everyone plays a huge role in the explosive ending. I was a little peeved about the twisted ending though. It reeks of familiarity and I am wanting more originality to the plot. But, I am BEYOND curious about how things will play out in the final installment coming out next year

Vlad and Leila are back and better than ever!
I freaking love this couple… Maybe even a little more than Cat and Bones. *Gasp* Yeah, I know, but while Cat and Bones fell a little flat by the end of their series, Leila and Vlad honestly get better and better with each book. I don’t know how many times I’ve reread the previous two books in the Night Prince series, and every time, I fall more in love with them. And hello there’s Vlad, who is my absolute favorite character in the entire Night Huntress world — he’s powerful, sensual, and his love for Leila is the deepest, most beautiful thing. So of course I’d been eagerly anticipating this third book, and it highly exceeded my expectations! I absolutely loved it!
Vlad and Leila are getting into the role of husband and wife, but it’s not that easy. Vlad is overprotective and domineering, and Leila is stubborn as hell and somehow always getting into danger. But even though their marital roles need time getting used to, there’s no doubt that they both love each other fixedly. Vlad is as sexy and passionate as ever, and as Leila’s husband, he’s even more alpha-male, which I was totally a fan of. And I love that as hot and fierce as their love is for each other, they still joke around with each other. I just adore Vlad and Leila together!
Vlad and Leila have been searching for their enemy, Szilagyi, but he’s powerful and always seems a step ahead. Vlad will do anything to protect Leila, and that’s tested when Leila is put into serious danger. Bound by Flames takes a turn for a much darker direction than I ever anticipated, but Jeaniene Frost flawlessly executes the thrill and suspense in this book. From beginning to end, it was riveting and unputdownable — I wholeheartedly loved Bound by Flames. It’s now probably my favorite of the series so far!
And I have to say, I’m so, SO glad that Vlad and Leila’s story doesn’t end with Bound by Flames! We have one more book before we have to say goodbye to them (which I really don’t want to do). I’m eagerly awaiting their next and final book, even though I know it’ll be bittersweet.

Bound by Flames, in my opinion, is the best book that Jeaniene Frost has ever written. I absolutely adore all of her novels, but this one really stands out. It is difficult to read in places (graphic torture), but it has heart, grit, and suspense. I couldn't put this one down. I'm a huge fan of the Night Huntress Series, and Vlad has always been one of my favorite "spin-off" characters, but this book goes above and beyond any expectations I had for him and his series. Well done, Ms. Frost. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
The character growth in this novel is astounding and extremely organic. Vlad really grows as a man, vampire, and husband in this installment. He proves he loves Leila by actually listening to her (sometimes). Leila, for her part, is coming into her own as a woman, vampire, and wife. She is learning how to deal with Vlad's overbearing ways and how to work things out through compromise. I really had tons of respect for both of them in this book. Some of the secondary characters really grow and/or show who they really are as well, and there are some very touching moments.
Like all of Frost's novels, the pacing is pretty quick, and the plot is suspenseful, and full of action and romance with a touch of comedy. Some of the plot twists really surprised me, and I loved the cameo by Cat and Fabian. This novel had to be difficult to write with the torture scenes, and Frost shows that she doesn't shy away from challenges. She paints the torture scenes as vividly as the romance scenes, and that impressed me. While some of it is a little stomach churning to read (being skinned alive, for instance), Frost's ability to not back down while writing these scenes is deserving of respect. The Epilogue delivers some much-needed lightheartedness, and it's clear from the direction of this book that the series is winding down naturally (the next installment will be the last, unfortunately). While I can't wait to see what Frost comes up with for Leila and Vlad in the 4th book, I dread the end of this series. I've come to enjoy it just as much, if not more than, Cat's and Bones' books.
Overall, I'd recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a good vampire novel that pokes some fun at the old Dracula myths. Frost is a fun and talented writer, and if you haven't read anything by her yet, you're definitely missing out.

I got a new Night Prince novel, so I jump up and down in fan-girl joy. Jeaniene Frost and Tavia Gilbert are probably on of my favorite author/narrator combos EVER! Jeaniene's beautiful storytelling and Tavia's emotional delivery, really pack a very powerful audible punch. I recommend this series, and it's connecting series to all of my friends.
I really enjoyed how Leila and Vlad have become more comfortable in their relationship. I mean Vlad's is still slightly controlling, I mean he is still Vlad. But he takes steps to let Leila make some of her own decisions. These two are on more of the same level, because Leila's power and strength have grown dramatically. I love how Leila is probably the only person that stands up to Vlad. And that he finally lets her know how much she really means to him. I think I feel even more in love with Vlad in this book. He showed a more sensitive site of himself.
This series is really driven by it characters. I love the reoccurring cast from Jeaniene's other series. Any chance that I get to have more Bones, Kat, and Mencheres, is a real treat for me. I also really enjoyed Maxinus' storyline. I spent most of the book trying to figure out his game plan. As soon as I decided that I hated him, he would turn around and do something to counterbalance that. He has such an interesting history with Vlad, and the ending was emotional for me. And as much as Leila's sister annoys the living crap out of me, I was very happy to see that Leila was able to reconnect with her family.
Tavia Gilbert's performance really takes this BOUND BY FLAMES to the next level. This series could have been a very complicated read for most narrators. It's full of all kinds of varying emotions, and characters with extremely different and difficult accents. She pulls it off like a pro! Her mastery of the diverse accents was superb. Tavia is the Night Prince series! Her voices created such a vivid picture in my head, that it sounds like a movie. Her pace and dictation are astonishing. She is a real pro, and a "must listen" narrator for me!
This story was extremely fast paced, heartbreaking, and full of soul stealing love. It really kept me on my toes. I enjoyed how Jeaniene wasn't afraid to take the story to another level. There were scenes that just completely broke me into pieces. The book does contain some graphic scenes, and isn't for the faint for heart. This series get better with every book! So I am super excited that the powers that be, have decided that we'll get one more book in this series. I will be waiting very impatiently. This series is a must read for those looking for in-depth PNR world building and emotionally charged characters! If you haven't read Jeaniene's Cat and Bone's series, I recommend would starting there first.

Diving into Bound by Flames required first doing a quick skim re-read through Once Burned and Twice Tempted to get back up to speed. Bound by Flames picks up with Vlad and Leila working together to flush out Vlad's oldest and Leila's newest enemy Mihaly Szilagyi. Everything is going along swimmingly until Vlad realizes that Leila's involvement puts her in danger; at which point he has a paternalistic and autocratic meltdown, Leila reminds him that "in the twenty-first century, husband is no longer synonymous with master" and he reminds her that if he were her master he'd be impaling her on a pole for disobeying him (which of course he assures her would never happen - but one doesn't get to be "Vlad the Impaler" without maintaining a reputation).
Vlad eventually realizes that despite all his efforts to keep Leila safe, he doesn't have complete control over circumstances and in trying to keep her safe he actually exposes her to more danger. They end up working together despite Vlad's best efforts to go it alone and they make a good team.
I really enjoy both main characters. Leila is strong, courageous and reasonably sensible. She's a tough survivor when she needs to be but she also holds on to her humanity (despite being a vampire now) and she nicely balances Vlad out. Vlad is intense, and insanely protective and only his love for Leila brings out his sweet and vulnerable side. It's either incredibly good writing, or I don't want to know what it says about me that I find a psychotic, sadistic, homicidal man with a torture chamber to be the ultimate romantic hero.
Bound by Flames struck a good balance between romance and action. I liked the humorous interactions with Leila's sister Gretchen. I liked Vlad's protectiveness of Leila where her father was concerned. The Cat and Bones & Mencheres and Kiera cameos were fun.Vlad's big reveal in the epilogue was hysterical.
Bound by Flames doesn't really feel like a cliffhanger. It's a HFN with the main story arc wrapped up. Towards the very end of the story, a new arc opened up which will be the focus of the 4th and final installment.

While I loved this book, I found myself having trouble connecting with it in the beginning. Perhaps too much time had passed since I read the last two books, or something about this one made me hold off giving it five stars like the other two in this spin-off series. Don’t get me wrong I still love me some Vlad, and Leila too… I am thrilled that Ms. Frost has decided to extend this series into another book. This whole world is a favorite of mine and I would be fine even with another spin-off series with cameos from beloved characters of past books.
Like I said this one took me a bit to get into. This could be from the sudden switch in genres, too long between books, or that the first 100 pages of this book were pretty dark and disturbing at times. I often wondered if I was reading a chick-lit paranormal title, this book was so graphic and violent at times. Granted much of it was recounting of events in flashbacks, but still, Ms. Frost sure did challenge my comfort zone in at least one occasion. I’m glad I stuck with it though, like that was ever in question…, it was interesting to see how Leila and Vlad handled the events of this book even though it shook their marriage quite a bit.
There were some fun, lighter situations as well, especially in the epilogue. But much of this books was one crisis after another. You could see their marriage and relationship growing stronger with each new obstacle they encountered. I appreciated how their dynamic changed. In the beginning we have Vlad almost using wrapping Leila in bubble-wrap and storing her in the most secure local he can find, but by the end they had truly become a team and were kicking ass together.
There were some familiar faces that popped up in this book, my favorites Cat and Mencheres played important roles in this story and I was happy with the closure that came about for Maximus. I am intrigued by the new ‘bad guy’ that was introduced at the end of the book and look forward to seeing what plays out with him. This was a great read, a little darker than the others, but wow what a ride.

Four. Four stars
Vlad got his wicked back and I couldn't be happier. His sappy side that we saw in a previous time has hardened and turned into an even more dangerous weapon. He learned from it, grew greater. What I saw and his character saw as a great weakness, love, had made him more dangerous and ruthless. He also regained his dry funny snarky bone, and had me laughing out loud several times. When he told his greatest secret near the end. Bwahahahahha ! This new version of Vlad is wonderful, bring on more !
Leila, was strong independent and sure of herself and her relationship. What a fabulous character she has developed into. She was never wishy washy about her trust in Vlad or their love bond, what a rare treat. This girl went through the worst of the worst and never wavered, she feared but never doubted her value to him. Oh the horrors she had to endure, I was undone for her, tears filled my eyes and pain tore at my heart. Many characters are written as scared broken things after so much torture but not this one she rose like a Phoenix with a mighty whip. I loved her quick witty moments with Vlad, these two got me some odd stares while ridding the rail with my outburst of laughter. Ah, public reading moments, so fun. LOL
I couldn't stop reading it. I had to finish it once I started the villain was just what a villain should be utterly evil, the history revealed interesting, the love moments were hot and steamy. I am back in the Love Vlad Cheer Squad. I'm sad that there is only one more book in the series now.

This was a very difficult book to get through. The first half of the book is very different from the last half, but they both have a distinctly dark flavor. There is torture, near-rape, and a lot of abusive scenes. I found it hard to believe in this very broken couple. Vlad and Leila are certainly a confusing pair.
The start of this book shows Vlad and Leila sort of working together to track down the big bad from the previous 2 books. Leila wants to take risks to help, Vlad wants to protect her at all costs, and these two can't seem to find a way to work together. These two have a near abusive relationship that somehow ends in them having steamy sex. Through some colossally bad planning and misplaced trust, Leila ends up kidnapped (again). This storyline is starting to get old. The torture was a horrible new addition to the scene, though. It was really hard to read and even more horrible in that it took almost half the book to resolve itself.
Lucky for us, the torture ends and Vlad seems to finally become the guy I wanted him to be. Is it worth reading all the darkness from the first half of the book? Maybe. If you can stomach reading that kind of stuff, you are rewarded with some final resolution to our big bad story (but don't worry, there are more bad guys lurking to keep this series going). We also get rewarded with some cameos from our favorites from other books. There are some big spoilers if you are not caught up with Cat and Bones, so beware! Overall, I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, weighing the character growth we see versus the darkness we are subjected to. I think as long as you're warned ahead of time, it would be easier to swallow.

Vlad is back people!
Bound by Flames is the third installment in Jeaniene Frost’s paranormal romance series titled Night Prince. I will read absolutely anything that keeps me connected to Ms. Frost’s Night Huntress series. That series was my first experience with the urban fantasy genre, and the characters Ms. Frost created made the genre one of my absolute favorites. It just so happens I was first introduced to Vlad in that series, so when Night Prince was started there was no question I would be a loyal reader. My enjoyment in the Night Prince series has ebbed and flowed though. In my opinion, this is quite a different Vlad than the one readers met in Night Huntress, but Bound by Flames has brought him back pretty close to the Vlad I remember! He’s dominating, uncompromising, ruthless... thank God! I know this probably sounds bad because it’s a romance novel, but this is Vlad Tepesh: the legend behind Dracula! He can’t get soft, and the last book had me very worried. I have to admit that I’m liking Vlad’s love interest Leila a bit more in this book. She makes a pretty good vampire and the extreme challenges she faces in this story has her earning my respect, fictional as it may be. If you’re a fan of the Night Huntress Universe then keep an eye out for this series...and please read the epilogue! I was rolling LOL
My favorite quote:

4 Stars...
I've had this paperback for months, since it was released and i didn't want to read it because i find out it wasn't going to be the last of the series, but now, i couldn't help it anymore. At least, i won't have to wait that long anymore.
There has been some discontent about the character Vlad, the Vlad we met at Night Huntress is absolutely not the same, his personality in a way changed, it doesn't feel the same person, but, that doesn't make him any less lovable. I still love him, would love his other personality to come out in the next book, fingers crossed.
This book was a lot darker than the previous ones, there were scenes i didn't think i could handle, Leila gets kidnapped and tortured, in a very horrible way. Vlad and Leila struggle in their relationship but they find common ground, eventually.
There was one big surprise at the end, that i didn't see coming for sure. Now, let's hope Ms. Frost delivers a great ending of this series and we get to see more Bones and Cat, please!!!

Leila has been electrocuted, died and risen again. She’s survived through some of the most horrific circumstances, and yet nothing could have prepared her for marriage to the most infamous vampire of all time. Not only is Vlad insufferably protective to the point of suffocation, but he has good reason to be. His enemies will stop at nothing to get to him, and Leila just might be the weakness that will bring Vlad to his knees.
So I’m a Jeaniene Frost fan. A HUGE fan. Bones and Cat are probably two of my favorite characters ever. Frost has a way with words. She creates headstrong characters that are passionate and adventurous. Leila, whilst softer in some ways than Cat, is no exception. She’s got guts, heart and soul. Vlad, while hard and cynical, shows a softer, deeper side in this novel, without losing any of his macho hero reputation.
I’m going to be honest and say that I don't feel as riveted by this relationship as I did with Bones and Cat, but that’s like trying to replicate the Holy Grail. Leila and Vlad have their own charm though and I’m amazed at how creative Frost can be - and a little frightened too - with some of the adventures and torture scenes!
Another smashing novel by one of my favorite authors!

Bound by Flames is book three in the Night Prince series. This time around, Vlad and Leila are on the hunt for their enemy, Szilagyi. I feel like we get to know Vlad a little bit better this time around. He's always been very guarded but we get to glimpse bits of him we haven't seen before. Anyway, since Vlad's looking for his enemy of old, Leila is staying in the castle so she's not in danger's path. Things quickly get out of hand and the book gets dark, very dark. There are graphic scenes that I know will bother some readers, so know that going in. Extreme violence and torture to name a few. That being said I think JFrost wrote the content very well.
Overall, I'm really loving the Night Prince series, and I'm so glad to see this isn't the final book. Book four, Into the Fire, should be released later this year. I strongly urge you to read these books in order, since it won't make much sense otherwise. I recommend this series if you like vampire paranormal romance / urban fantasy.

Bound by Flames, whilst set in the Night Huntress World , is in fact the third book the “Night Prince” series about Vlad Tepes who many fans of the series, like myself, have come to know and love during previous Cat and Bones escapades. Whist this series could probably be read as a series in their own right, I personally would recommend reading them in conjunction with all of the other Night Huntress books. Without leaving spoilers there are references that may be confusing without this knowledge.
That all being said this book is incredible and a MUST OWN for all Jeaniene Frost fans (and the Night Huntress novels are ALL a MUST OWN in my opinion for vampire fans everywhere. I have been on this journey since the beginning and I have to say that I am THRILLED to learn that there will now be a book 4 for Vlad instead of the intended 3.
These worlds are rich and colorful and Vlad remains one of my favorite vampires ever! This story has so many twists and turns the only thing I can say (If I want to avoid spoilers) is read it! For me this was even better that book 2, where I will confess, I was not feeling the whole Leila allure. I shouldn't have doubted though that if she was meant for Vlad that I would come around and sure enough by the end of this book it seems her spark is back.
FANGTASTIC!! Bring on book 4!!!

I loved it! Vlad is one of my favorite vampires, he's just so dark, damaged, and deeply emotional under all his stoic control. Leila is not only newly married, but also a new vampire, so she’s got a lot to learn, which makes things interesting. With Vlad’s arch nemesis still plotting against him, Leila wants to help find Szilagyi and aid in the fight to take him down, but Vlad wants nothing more than to protect her, and that weakness may be his undoing. This story was brutal, with many forms of torture visited upon not only Leila, but also the vile treatment Vlad suffered in his younger years at the hands of Szilagyi described as well. We see that even through all the brutality, neither Vlad nor Leila will ever give up; they will prevail and seek their vengeance upon the evil Szilagyi, no matter what it takes. I loved the cameos of beloved characters from the Night Huntress world, and Maximus having a chance to mend his relationship with Vlad, at least as much as the situation allowed, was great. The culmination of the story introduced a new character to the mix, one that will be even more of a challenge to defeat. I’m certainly looking forward to that story because I can’t wait to see how Vlad and Leila take this dude down.

This isn't a stand alone novel you really need to read the first two in the series, Once Burned and Twice Tempted. I honestly would recommend reading the original Night Huntress Series that first introduced us to Vlad, because it is so absolutely awesome anyone who enjoys Urban Fantasy shouldn't miss it. The first book in that series is Halfway to the Grave.
I digress, In Bound by Flames we are once again taken on a heart pounding adventure full of danger, torture, betrayal, love, family, fire and electricity. Vlad is such a ruthless vampire yet his main concern is Leila and all he wants to do is wrap her in cotton and keep her safe. Leila being independent her entire life of course is going to rebel against Vlad's overprotectiveness and the sparks literally fly.
I have loved Vlad since the he was introduced in the Night Huntress Series. He is just so deliciously ruthless, yet charming at the same time. I think Leila is his perfect match with her spunk, strong will and soft heart. This is truly an exhilarating urban fantasy series, that I highly recommend....Sara

The third book in the Night Prince series begins with Leila and Vlad learning how to adjust to being married, and working together. The problem is Leila's life is in danger now. And Vlad is taking overprotectiveness to an extreme. Not only that but when friends become enemies, and enemies become friends there seems to be a whole lot more for Vlad and Leila to work through.. Especially when something really bad happens...
This book was not at all what I was expecting. But it was very good. I was a little annoyed at first because of some of the insecurities that Leila had. But I truly loved her and Vlad together, and I enjoyed watching them come together in a spectacular way.
Also, the things that Leila had to go through seemed to not only make her stronger, but make her and Vlad stronger together as well. I really really liked this one, and I'm super sad to have to wait so long for the next one.

I struggle with reviewing this book. I really like Frost, I do. And I really like Vlad and Leila. And I quite liked the plot.
But all of the Night Huntress and Night Prince and the other books in this world have a tendency to feel pretty much the same after a while. I think I'm burnt out (pun intended) on this world. Here are most of the reasons why:
The male vampires are always super charged and have to go running off alone
The female characters (vampire or otherwise) always have to run after them even though they're told to stay put
The female characters always get into some sort of crazy trouble
The female characters always need to be rescued by the male character, but that's ok because there's s*** the female does that helps
I realize that I'm WAY over-generalizing. Most of Frost's books have had unique and refreshing plots. But to me, this book felt pretty much like copy and paste from its predecessor. And most of the time, I just kept thinking, "Leila, you're being stupid." She just kept seeing the worst in people when she shouldn't have, and kept assuming Vlad would stop loving her for some seriously silly reasons. I find it absurdly irritating.
There's SO much I could rant about, but it all gets into spoilers, so I'm going to keep this short.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good book. But I was expecting better.

If you're a sucker for witty writing/witty characters, good plot development, intelligent writing (this author appears to have a very good editor!), appropriately-paced suspense & thrills, romance, 2-4 scenes of tantalizing and passionate sensual/sexual content, enjoy an action-packed book (there are 2-4 graphically violent scenes), and are drawn to paranormal/fantasy (the cast members in this series are vampires, ghouls, ghosts, & humans)...then this book and series is for you!
Since the pricing for these items have been reasonable thus far (in my humble opinion), I've purchased both the mass paperback and digital Kindle editions of each of the 3 books released thus far. I'm guessing that the next book will be the final installation in the series and I'm hoping it will be great...we'll just have to wait and see!

I do believe Leila and Vlad are one of my favorite PNR couples. I just love them! And what’s not to love? Leila is a kickass newly turned vamp who loves to stick her hand in electrical outlets and Vlad is Dracula himself! While the story kept me engaged to the point I had a hard time putting it down, the final pages where Vlad tells Leila his “big” secret, I enjoyed the most. After everything Vlad the Impaler has done throughout his long life and he’s most ashamed of what he told her at the end. Sooo, damn funny!
To my immense relief, I’m super happy Ms. Frost decided not to end the series with BOUND by FLAMES and I’m looking forward to the next one.
What a great read!
Focused. Strong. True.

It is really disappointing to see what she did to Vlad and Leila's story. She ended the Night Huntress series way to short. We got one book each for Spade and Mencheres with weak camel's for Bones and Cat. Glad is a great character when interacting with Cat, but does he really preserve his own series? Okay he got one, but it was not a strong work. We got a novella for Annette and nothing for Marie, Ian, or Veritas. All of whom have potentially great stories to tell. Back to this book. It was planned as a trilogy and should have ended that way. What we got instead was a crappy poorly thought out, grab for more money. Jeaniene is a excellent author Cat and Bones is a testament to that. Who ever advised her to extend this story led her wrong. This book is not a waste of time, just be ready for a disappointment.

Jeaniene Frost is renowned the world over for her oh-my-god-is-it-hot-in-here scenes, but she can also rock the dark like nobody’s business, and readers were reminded of that fact with a vengeance in BOUND BY FLAMES. Graphic torture anyone? I’m talking flaying, limb amputation, silver poisoning, starvation, and pseudo rape. This installment was originally intended to be the finale of the NIGHT PRINCE series; however after listening to book 3, I can understand why the author decided to axe that plan. A new super villain has risen, Vlad & Leila didn’t get their HEA, and there’s still plenty of story left to tell!
I’ve had a jumbo crush on Tepesh ever since his character debuted as a secondary in Frost’s NIGHT HUNTRESS novels, and it’s steadily grown into an all out obsession with this spin-off series. He could easily be king of the bad guys if it weren’t for Mrs. Dracula which makes him the ultimate antihero. We got to see a more vulnerable side to Vlad in this installment while as Leila was all steel and resolve. The balance of power in their relationship has been markedly one-sided until now, so I loved the role reversal, and as expected, the author didn’t hold back on the ravishing either. *winks*
Maximus drove me nutso in the best kind of way, and I was happy that Leila’s father finally saw reason after his prolonged silent treatment of his daughter. Marty was as primo as always, and my hankering for a Cat & Bones cameo was quenched, although it’s worth pointing out that their part was somewhat spoiler-y if you haven’t read UP FROM THE GRAVE yet. Mencheres also popped in to say hi which made my character driven self very jubilant. You’ll notice that I’m glossing over the plot, and that’s because it puts to bed the main story arc, so I’m not willing to risk accidentally spilling the beans, but it’s DA BOMB!
This was my first time listening to a NIGHT PRINCE audiobook, however I was already acquainted with Tavia Gilbert as a narrator, so I had zero quibbles about her performance going in. Her renditions of both of the protagonists were on par with those that I had inside my head prior to her voice taking them over. I’m a sucker for accents, and her English (Bones), Romanian (Vlad), and New Orleans (Marie) vernacular left me tickled pink. I’m still trying to determine whether it was the narration or the writing that has me dubbing this as my favourite installment, either way, I loved it!
BOUND BY FLAMES will make you break out into a Snoopy happy dance!
I love this series, and the main one. I love Vlad and I am loving Leila more as I get to know her more. Frost creates such amazing characters, and her stories are all action-packed with satisfying amounts of love, angst, betrayal, humor, and adventure. Loved the secret reveal in the epilogue!

I loved this third installment of the Night Prince. I am glad we finally get a glimpse into the softer side of Vlad and I loved Leila's growth in in this book. She becomes a fierce adversary and I loved her all the more for it. Her love for Vlad never waivers and I could feel their intensity for one another. It was something I felt like the first two books were lacking in just a little, and I am happy to feel it in this book. I will be impatiently awaiting the fourth book!

This installment of the Vlad and Leila Saga has it all: sweet revenge; a little bit of cheeky humor; just the right amount of violence; and, finally, an expression of their true love.
My favorite part about this book, is that the "happy" couple spend most of the story together so their smoldering interaction is in the forefront. My least favorite part is that I was expecting the story to be resolved by the end of this edition, but it is going to be extended into another novel. I do love these characters, but I really miss the time when authors could write a quality story in fewer than 1,500 pages.

Leila, has had to learn to adjust to a new way of life, being a vampire, and being married to the most infamous one of all time. Her life has changed from working the circus, and with their enemy still alive, both Leila and Vlad are determined to bring him to an end. But Leila is about to face a danger and an enemy that could destroy her. Now Leila will have to face a perilous journey that she may not be able to overcome. Vlad has an enemy that has been alive for centuries, and knows his strengths and weaknesses, but when Leila is put in danger and Vlad will have to do everything in his power he has gained from the centuries to save her and to conquer his enemy. Will Vlad’s love for Leila be their destruction or their salvation…
Bound By Flame is the third installment, of the Night Prince series. Now with each book, I keep thinking, if I love it more than cat and bones…because right now they are tied. I can’t believe I am saying that, since Cat and Bones are just a classic couple, and a favorite, however Vlad and Leila are an empowering couple, and their bond is just so strong and I have adored every moment seeing them come closer, and with each book, the danger increases. I waited a whole year for this story to come out, and it was worth the wait. I couldn’t put this one down once…it was a phenomenal read, and I would recommend it to anyone that loves a romance that will get that blood thumping.
Now there are certain things, I would like to keep under wraps in this review, so I don’t spoil it too much. But I would like to discuss how the relationship between Vlad and Leila grows. In this story, Vlad and Leila really get tested, I mean REALLY tested. And what happens shocks me and I wished I had some wine to get me a bit a fortification for this story. It tested my strength and I had the hardest time refraining from skipping ahead, I had to reign my self-control in, and control the urge. There was quite a few heart wrenching moments that tugged at my heartstrings. At the beginning of this story, Vlad and Leila have only been married for a short period, and have barely scratched the surface on the “honeymoon” stage, and with their enemy growing, you see how the danger tests their resolve, and most importantly tests their love.
The characters themselves were just as wonderful as ever, and I found them to be equally compelling, you also see quite a bit of growth especially in Leila’s case, but also in Vlad. When they get tested, you see how they grow and become stronger willed individuals and the steam level---WOWZERS!!! I think I got burned reading this one…watch out and you just might want to bring out a fire extinguisher to take out the flames.
Overall a winning paranormal romance that is packed with danger, suspense, a crazy villain, a possessive hero, and a heroine that will win over your heart!! A HEARTSTOPPER!!

Vlad and Leila missed out on destroying Vlad’s sworn enemy, Szilagyi, in the last book, but they are still hot on his trail. Vlad has been overprotective of Leila knowing that he wouldn’t survive losing her. But when he leaves her home to keep her safe, the castle is attacked and Leila is taken hostage by none other than Szilagyi himself, who knows how to make her capture as painful as possible for Vlad, in hopes it will push him to do something careless.
Vlad reaches out to Cat for help in getting Leila back, much to Bones’s displeasure! But Szilagyi has found a way to booby trap Leila’s abilities and now she is a threat to herself. Vlad can’t leave her alone for a second or he could lose her for good! It leaves them hunting down the necromancer that did this to her so they can end it. But what they eventually discover about the spell will change their plans drastically.
Jeaniene Frost has done it again! This is her writing at its best and I could not put this book down! I loved it and it earned a strong five star rating from me!
I think we all expected Szilagyi to get his hands on Leila, but not so much Maximus’s betrayal … or proof of his loyalty? I was so mad at what he appeared to have done as a way to get Leila for his own, but I’m glad that he did prove himself, even if Vlad couldn’t follow through with his promise. Hopefully he will be able to reward him even more so in the next book.
The things that happened during Leila’s capture shaped the rest of the story and the hunt for Szilagyi got kicked into an even higher gear as it’s the only way Vlad can protect his beloved wife. For her, Vlad would risk it all, even his own life.
I loved seeing Vlad’s protective side, even if he comes off a little harsh to some.
“You’re unnerved by me, so you wish I’d leave the two of you alone to talk?” Vlad snorted. “Your personal discomfort means nothing to me, Hugh … wait, that’s not true. I enjoy it.”
Let’s face it, Leila’s dad totally deserved it and I, for one, am glad that Vlad finally intervened!
There was a ton of action in this book, but there were also several sweet moments as well. My personal favorite being the ending of the book and Vlad’s big revelation!
It was also great seeing Mencheres again as well as the brief scenes of Cat and Bones!
I think this book has something for everyone and I can’t wait for the next installment, I’m just sad to see that it will be the conclusion of the series. I’m holding out hope for another spin-off series … we have yet to see Ian’s happily ever after all … and what a series he would make!

Holy crap… Vlad and Leila are back!! First off, I know that Jeaniene had originally planned for this book to be the last in the series, but she made the announcement a few months back that she couldn’t wrap up the series the way she wanted in just one book so… we get another one in 2016! WOOT!!
Anyways… back to Bound By Flames!
This book lives up to its name. It’s searing hot with drama, suspense, emotional turmoil, and passion that could outshine the sun. To say that temperatures run hot wouldn’t even scratch the surface of how good this book truly is. Frost has managed to bring readers crashing back into the world of Vlad.
Vlad as a vampire has always been this brooding and in some ways tortured soul with a murderous hair trigger. In the Night Huntress novels, you were never really sure whether you were going to love or hate Vlad as a character and honestly, I loved that aspect about him. His past and his present come face to face in a head on collision that will leave ties between family and friends tested. His intensity as the meaty drama of the plot heat up literally left me gasping for air at times. Frost has a pretty twisted idea of vampire torture so be prepared for some gut wrenching moments as you read.
Leila is back and badder than ever. She’s adjusting to her new role as a vampire and as Vlad’s wife. She’s lost most of her skills as her humanity died and she must overcome some pretty damn high hurdles without that skill set in order to continue her vampire life. As fire and brimstone rain down upon her and Vlad, she must learn how to handle her new way of life and survive all at the same time.
Bound By Flames is a great segway into the last Night Prince novels. While some of the past big bads are eternally put to rest, there are others to take up their place in what I can only imagine to be an epic final showdown. Cat and Bones fans will be delighted to know that the couple do make a brief appearance in the Bound by Flames which left me giggling like a maniac that I got to see them again! I can’t wait for the next book and it needs to be here like… NOW or I’ll combust

I borrowed this book through my Library and have read all the books in this series by this author. Every book in this series is a great read and the author will keep you wanting the next book. I like that this author does not always leave you with a happily ever after after just one book, she likes to come back to characters and give you more to their lives. Make sure to read these in order and you will love the series.

4.5-5 stars
This was a great story. I'll admit that I had some trouble rating it as I kind of fell right at a 4.5 and wasn't sure which way to go. It was my love of Vlad and Leila that made me decide to go up instead of down on my rating. Vlad is still overbearing but soon realises that danger can come when you think you're safest. Unfortunately, Leila has to deal with some badness at the hands of the enemy (most off page and only a no actual rape) but is saved before things get too bad. She and Vlad continue to have things to deal with as their enemy does stuff to make their lives difficult (or downright dangerous). Vlad and Leila come out of things with their relationship solid and accomplish something they've been working on since book #1. Unfortunately, there is a another enemy to deal with (a silent partner they didn't know of) and he has a dangerous tie to Leila.
I enjoyed this book so very much. I love Vlad and Leila and while it was tough to read all they had to deal with, it was worth it to see them work through it together (even if Leila had to fight to get the equal footing at times). This story moved the series storyline ahead quite a bit but there's still more to explore and I'm so looking forward to reading book #4! :-)
Note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a great job.

Boy was this a tough book, I had a hard time with the torture and with the threat of rape for the heroine - it was very difficult to listen to. Ultimately, though I enjoyed the fact that Layla and Vlads's tensions relationship continues to progress and that the very ridgid Vlad makes some mental adjustments as well - held to adjust the power imbalance between the pair.
3.5 stars = 'I liked it... but' - I did this in audio, and I liked Tavia Gilbert for the most part -though I do wish her Vlad had a deeper voice

WOW!!!!
Being back in Vlad’s world is always a hair raising adventure. The beginning of this book was gut wrenching and heart breaking. And I had a very difficult time with parts of the story, until...... Well I can’t tell you that it would ruining the story for you.
Vlad is just as deadly and dreamy as always. Leila is amazing and tough as always. Vlad & Leila are a force that no one should ever mess with. There are so many ups and downs that I didn’t know where, how or who was going to make it out alive. There were quite a few surprises along the way too. Some were good, some not so much and some made you wonder is some of the secondary characters will get stories.
Loved this book. Love this world. Love Vlad & Leila. Love Ms. Frost and her storytelling abilities. Only thing I hate? Is having to wait until next year to get the fourth and final book in this series.
If you are a fan of Ms. Frost you will love this book. If you are new to this series. I would suggest reading Cat & Bones series first. But you could start with Once Burned (book one in the Night Prince series.

I've been a fan of Jeaniene Frosts books for years, when Once Burned was released I was absolutely delighted Vlad is one of my favourite characters! The book was fantastic and I thought it couldn't get any better and then along came Twice Tempted and it was even better! I have been looking forward to The Night Prince 3rd novel and I wasnt't disappointed Bound by Flames was amazing and I think one of the best yet!
I listen to the audiobooks of all of Jeaniene Frosts books because Tavia Gilbert is a brilliant narrator and one of my top 5 favourites. Her narration of Bound by Flames was consistant throughout, with distinguishable character voices and clear pronunciation even while doing a character accent like Vlads.
The audiobook was full of enthusiasm and made the book even better in my opinion if that is possoble.
If anyone is looking at this review for the audiobook and narration I'd recommend listening to any of Tavia Gilberts narration and of course Jeaniene Frosts series such as The Night Prince novels and of course the Cat and Bones series (The Night Huntress novels) they are a match made if audiobool heaven!
The book itself like I've said was amazing, we've seen Vlad evolve emotionally in this series and no more so than in Bound by Flames. Leila was a character I wasn't sure of in the first book but she has grown on me, she is a great match for Vlad. She doesn't let him away with distancing himself, while she is also realistic and knows when enough is enough. Vlad and Leila have been through a lot in the previous two books while coming through with the beginnings of a partnership as well as a relationship. But these two were really put through the wringer in every way possible in Bound by Flames testing their newly formed partnership/relationship and coming out of it stronger than ever. Vlad is still the same Vlad we all know and love but with just a new and adjusted view on whats important to him...
Leila as a character keeps on growing I think, nothing is ever simple with Vlad and what happens in this paranormal world and Leila knows that more than anyone and battles through it.
All in all this book is everything a Jeaniene Frost book could be and more, full of action, suspense, touching and emotional scenes as well as quite a few hot scenes because it's Vlad of course! Bound by Flames is one of my top reads of the year so far and well worth the wait, I just wish there was no waiting for the 4th one.

I love this series and its sister series, Night Huntress. Part 3 of the ongoing saga between Vlad (the original Dracula) and his love, Leila. Lots of action, suspense, and steamy romance. Gorier than the first two, with a couple of teary, emotional moments. Like the first two, extremely engaging and hard to put down. My only disappointment was that this book is NOT the end, and I'm not thrilled with have to wait a whole year for the next installment. If I'd known this one was not the end, I would have waited to start the series.

The Night Huntress Series has been so hard for any author to top for me... Some have come close, but I'm still in denial over the ending of that series. I've totally underestimated Jeaniene Frost and her ability to make me love another PNR couple other than Cat and Bones...I was so wrong! Imagine my surprise when the same author topped them!
Leila and Vlad have grown so much in the past 2 books that this one just did it for me! I love them! They have made missing Cat and Bones so much easier. The problem now is, waiting on the conclusion in the final book knowing that this series too will be ending. And as sad as I am about that, this story rocks! The suspense is off the charts! I read this in about 27 hours and hated to put it down! Fantastic job! I can't wait to see where Ms. Frost is taking us in the next and final installment of Vlad and Leila's story! I know one thing... It's going to be just as fantastically wicked, sexy, and suspenseful as this one was and as sad as I am to see this all end, I know it will be terrific!
Bound by Flames picks right up where Twice Tempted ends. We jump right back into the action that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading! We also get to spend a short time with some of our old favorites from the Night Huntress Series! Loved that! :) All in all this story just flowed... It was as usual, very well written. Steamy, but with more suspense and nail biting and I loved every bit of it!
The chemistry between Vlad and Leila is off the charts! He may not be Bones, but Vlad, well let's just say that this alpha male Vamp is in a catagory all his own! No competition needed...
To all my PNR lovers...This is a must read series as are all of Jeaniene Frost's books. Absolutely addictive to the very end and then some! I definitely see myself re-reading this series again!
After thought... Not a spoiler, but I'd LOVE to see Gretchen a vampire! Next series maybe? Hint hint :)

This was such a unique storyline! She managed to mix horror and romance genres together, which I didn't even know was possible but it totally worked. This is so far the darkest novel of them all and I'm glad Jeaniene wrote this book. Its so different from her other stuff and her imagination is outstanding, very impressed!

I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. Though this is the 3rd in the series you can read it standalone although I recommend reading the others for background if nothing else.
Vlad goes all out alpha on Leila after she is turned Vampire. He is terrified of losing her to his enemies and Szilagyi is back and making trouble. Leila is a modern woman and not used to taking a back seat but if it means Vlad keeps his sanity she will do it. It doesn’t stop her from being captured and used as a pawn but that’s on Szilagyi. I love the relationship between Vlad & Leila. She is coming into her own and lets face it he has a several centuries on her. This book is a fast moving roller coaster ride of action, adventure love and betrayal.

Seriously i was so excited to read this book but raping and torture of women is not okay,i stopped reading when it got to that part such a disappointment. I don't care how many of your previous books were good you are only as good as your last and this one was foolishness.

Bound by Flames was a really great read. I enjoyed the conflict between Vlad and Leila. As always, Leila stands up to him about his over-protectiveness. I understand Vlad wanting to keep her safe, but I think that made him overlook what a strong female she is. In any case (spoiler alert) she is captured anyway, and subsequently tortured by the enemy in brutal ways. I’m thankful that Ms. Frost skipped over some of the worst of it. Still, it was hard to watch what Leila went through. It didn’t subtract from the overall likability of the book, however.
Ms. Frost does a great job of staying true to the characters. Leila is still figuring out how to be a vampire, while Vlad is learning to soften himself for her sake, even though he goes a little vigilante at the end, but who could blame him.

I loved this entire series and can't wait for the fourth book. There were a few parts where I wanted to shake our heroine. She's continuously not listening to directions and getting herself kidnapped or in some other life threatening situation, but I could stop reading. I'm so glad I didn't because it was a great third book.

The first two books in this series were excellent. This one approaches six stars. I could not put it down once I opened it. As always, Vlad and Leila are charismatic, three-dimensional characters. Maximus provides a fascinating unknown; whose side is he on? And ever-faithful Marty leaves his mark both on Leila and her father. Ms. Frost, would you please consider Book Four?

I don't know if it was simply too long between this sequel and the previous or whether this story just wasn't as good as the first two or whether I wasn't really in the mood to read it now or whether the problem was the audiobook, but I didn't love this one like I did the previous novels in the series. I liked it but it didn't meet my expectations.

When I pick up a Jeaniene Frost book, at the first crack of the books spine, I get giddy. I know that no matter what unfolds in her tale, it is going to be one hell of a ride. Bound by Night is the third book in The Night Prince series of books, and it is an explosive, nitrogen powered thrill ride. The book tells the tale of Vlad, ‘don’t call him Dracula’, Dracul; the immortal vampire of legend, and his beloved wife Leila/Frankie the lightbulb. Okay, Frankie isn’t a lightbulb, but the girl can control voltage like no ones business. She is a vampire electric whip welding bad ass, or could be if not for her medieval over protective hubby. Vlad is the ‘do as I say not as I do’ type of guy, which means he can leap into danger; but Leila needs to stay home safe and possibly take up knitting. Vlad’s past has colored his protective extinct, he has lost too many people in his long life. The wonderfully fun part of these books is that they are written via Leila’s point of view so we get all her snarky sarcasm, as she battles agains Vlad’s iron will.
As with all of Frost’s Night Prince books, mayhem ensues; as what are supernatural paranormals supposed to watch T.V. and snuggle; which they totally would if Vlad’s mortal enemies weren’t still after him and an extension Leila.
All the usually suspects are on board for this adventure. I love the clueless Gretchen, she provides levity in a book that has a lot of blood, torture and vengeance. With all my book reviews you know you won’t get the plot out of me, but know you really should pick up this book. No one does paranormal romance quiet like Frost.
Cat and Bone fans will love that they briefly pop into the story. Alas I am sad as The Night Prince series is slated to come to a conclusion in 2016 with the final book. I know no matter what lies ahead for Ms. Frost, she will be forever one of my one-click authors.

The wait is over I can't wait to start reading. Then from almost the start of the book i'm disapointed. It all felt rushed and thown together. This wasn't the conclusion like i was expecting but more like a filler until the real book comes out. All the emotional connections you want to feel for characters were not there. When I finished i felt let down. This is what i eagerly waited a year to read. It would be a 2 star if i didnt absolutely love the first two books

I am not a reviewer who reads and rates books without consideration. I have very clear parameters about what makes a 5☆ book a 5☆. Although Jeaniene Frost is a favorite author on my auto-buy list I don't even give her 5☆ but she consistently earns them from me again and again. And boy did she not disappoint in Bound by Flames. This book kept me gasping and guessing from beginning to end. I love the emotional growth that we see in the characters -- especially Vlad. He is definitely not the cold and seemingly indifferent vampire that we see in Once Burned. He is caring, considerate, and broken by what happens to Leila -- His heart. His soul. His life. And what happens to Leila in this story will wreck you. Absolutely wreck you. I thought Frost couldn't up her game after the things she allowed Cat and Bones to endure. For that thinking, I was terribly wrong. There is just so much compacted in this story that I couldn't do it a measure of justice by recasting it. Just be prepared to stay up well into the wee hours reading this. It won't let you put it down!

I have read most of Jeaniene Frost's books, and enjoyed them all. This is a continuation of the story of Vlad and Leila. I'm eagerly looking forward to the fourth book. I wonder if they ever have a time when things are not in crisis. It must be tiring to live forever fighting off enemies.

Love love loved it... but then again that is pretty much a given when reading one of Frosts books! I listened to the audible and as always Tavia Gilbert gave a steller preformance. There were so many great aspects to this book it had it all! Just when you sigh as the last chapeter comes to an end and think dang now more waiting to see if there will be another book the Epilog comes.... my oh my I have never been tickled so silly by an epilog but I think the epilog was almost my favorite part of the book! Too funny!!! Love Jeaniene Frost!

I have not encountered a Jeaniene Frost book that I did not like. In this book, Vlad and Leila prove once again that they can be tough as individuals but as a team they are unstoppable. As lovers they are explosive.

Really enjoyed this one and can't wait for the final book in the series! Vlad and Leila really progressed in this book with regards to their relationship. I love how much closer they are. We also found out the reason for the Dracula hype which made me giggle. Vlad also learns of a new enemy, one every bit as dangerous as Sigahly, perhaps more dangerous!
Really great read and hope there isn't too long to wait for the finale!

I read fantasy for pure escapism. I do not want to read graphic descriptions of rape, people being skinned alive or burnt to death. This author has slowly upped the horror in her books. I am exercising my choice in no longer teading them.

The only thing I didn't like we're the occasional ads that kept popping up IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE! You want to talk about some of the rage fits that the characters go through, I'm talking to the store about this crap!
The book was lots of fun w/ some crazy twists @ the end. A few were laugh out loud funny. Thank you to Jeaniene Frost for another wonderful book!
UPDATE:After an hour on the phone w/the store, the ad pop-ups were from an update to one of the apps installed on my Kindle. It was on one of the running apps. I forced a stop to it and the pop-up ads stopped showing up. Please don't think that it was because of purchasing this book.

Bound By Flames was a disappointment to me. I felt the story was choppy and rushed. The author wrote everything from Leila's point of view and I found myself thinking on more than one occasion, "ok, but what is Vlad thinking right now?"
All in all, I wished she spent more time fleshing out her other characters, like Leila's sister and Maximus, and of course, Vlad.
